You should see him live. He’s insane. He knows what he came from. The whole band does. I’ve seen them several times and they have never been the same each show. Only artist as personally passionate as him (that I have seen) is Garth. They put everything they have into every show
Funny you say that.... some artists get annoyed when fans ask them to sing the song that made their career take off and filled their back account .... Be like winning millions in the lottery, walking past the framed ticket on the wall and saying “stupid lottery ticket” 🤣🤣🤣 This bloke can sing this all day everyday and I’ll never tire of it
Here we are in 2024 I’m 41 and a special person through my work that I called and about business with my work told me about this because my mom is going through a tough time medically - I haven’t even listed to this video yet but I know it’s gonna hit hard
One of the first songs that truly helped me through a lot of hard times. Love every song he ever sang but back then this one did it for me. He puts his heart & soul in all his songs, such a great singer and songwriter with beautiful lyrics. Always #1 in my heart & still going strong today as great as the 90’s, I swear he only gets better with age ! 🎶❤️🎶
This BAND....and Rob's voice....as a listener and fan, everything aligned on that entire album with the music, lyrics and vocals....nothing else like it...
IF AN ARTIST CAN DO AN ACOUSTIC VERSION OF ANY OF THEIR SONGS..... 100% OF THE TIME ,IT'S BETTER THAN THE STUDIO VERSION...... OUTSTANDING YOU MAN.!!!!!
For years i didnt know what this song was about and still loved it.. when i learned the meaning it was even better.. rob thomas is legendary and one of the best live performers ever
@@dickfitswell3437 yeah that blew my mind when I found that out only in the last few months and I have listened to the normal version hundreds, if not thousands of times. I am afraid to find out anymore of his meanings behind his songs cause that was so sad.
Your guitarist is wonderful, amazing talent.....so far away.....iowa. where is Iowa you say? Yup in the middle of the USA.......Hearts, love the guy with the guitar
Rob Thomas is my all time favorite, most talented, inspiring, beautiful, loving and caring real man in the world!!!If he only knew how much he has helped me with my heartache and I can't thank him enough love u bunches xo xo xo
This CD was in a listening station at tower records. I was into rap and metal and the guy on the front of the cd looked goofy but it was 6.99. I brought it home and played it for my roommate and he was like “oh these guys are going to be big. It was maybe 6-8 months later and they were on mtv and every radio station lol.
That is a left handed guitar strung with the high E at the top..so the strings are actually reversed to where they should be. You will notice the strike guard is where it should be where his left hand is strumming.
@@swankylaxer Actually, it looks as though it’s a left-handed guitar, but strung for right hand playing. Most left-handed players play with the low E on top, just like righties. This guy is a bird of rare plumage, and he sounds great.
Well that was very emotional.. He put everything he had into that!.. I dont usually like sappy love songs or sad story type songs.. But I must admit I enjoyed this.. It was calming/ nice & beautiful.. I couldn't help but play it til the end.. Well done
🥀Beautiful Amazing Song! I've always loved this song it stood out to me because it was my song I felt like I lived it like he did about his Mama I lost my Dad to cancer in 91..God Bless you Rob Thomas🥀☝️🥀

Not unusual - it’s how Jimi Hendrix played too. Many left handed guitarists actually learn to play their chords “right handed and upside down” rather than on a left handed guitar so they can just pick up someone else’s guitar on quick notice
Rob Thomas is severely underrated.
That’s what makes him that much more awesome to those of us that don’t.
Very true

He's singing about his Mom. Gives me chills.
@INXS1985 when he was about 13 or 14 his mom had cancer. He wrote this song about that time in his life.
How many times would Rob have sung this song? He still gives it everything. Much respect.
You should see him live. He’s insane. He knows what he came from. The whole band does. I’ve seen them several times and they have never been the same each show. Only artist as personally passionate as him (that I have seen) is Garth. They put everything they have into every show

Garth need to tell us where the body's are!!! Rob would never
Is that you, Edwin McCain?
Don’t care what anyone’s says this version is far better then the pop version. ❤
This guy wrote some beautiful songs, as I get older I respect and appreciate him all that much more
I love Rob , I’m always listening to his songs , since I was 21 and now I’m 40

A classic American song that defined the late nineties.
This guy has serious vocal/song writing skills,
Dude doesn't age! I remember watching the video of this on VH1 countdown every stinking afternoon of 1998. Got a haircut but that's it. Good for him.
Year 2121 and we’re still listening to this friggin legend !!! Absolute voice of a god !
Matchbox 20 was the first CD i ever had..Everytime i hear this song waves of memories come crashing in
100%
My first tape
Me too brother
Not my first CD butt my 1st 'fan club' I joined.
3am playing faithfully nightly...🧑🦳🏩🙏🙏🙏
His guitarist is just amazing… beautifully crafted fills… complimented the vocal, just magic
I noticed too playing left handed upside down
Matt Beck is the guitarists name
Man, that song seems to still hit Rob as emotionally as the rest of us.
What a song, incredible.
This is the best rendition of this song I’ve ever heard. It’s much more complex here, more soulful.
One of my few favorite vocalists. He just seems so relaxed and comfortable.
I agree. There's something different in his voice...better I think when unplugged.
Always loved this song but this version is now my favorite.

Can’t agree more ! This is gold for sure!
The fact that this song is written about his mom when he was 12/13 when she was going through cancer is difficult to not be emotional.

A rare good acoustic song. I was expecting to be disappointed. This was quite pleasant to listen to.
When you find out its about his mom having cancer youll like it a hundred times more. Especially acoustic.

I had chills listening to this on the radio today. What an amazing musician
I will never tire of this song.
Brilliant version of a brilliant song! Everything sounds better when it’s acoustic...
Nobody compares to Rob
I love how syllabic the hooks are yet they work so well with Rob's blues voice.

🥀WOW This is one of the best I've heard Rob Thomas singing this song it's so beautiful and I could feel his pain of the loss of his Mother🥀☝️🥀🕊🥀

Great song. Great vocals. Freakin sweet guitar 👍
This needs more love. He's a good solid dude
That little guitar riff before/during the chorus reminds me so much of Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry"... It can't be a coincidence.
Rowena Hover Because it’s the same 3 chords for both songs, not hard to figure out....
Their Bright Lights live rendition is my favorite musical performance ever!
God I love him.
I don’t know which I like more. This or the storytellers piano version.
One of my all time favourite songs! Great version!
BEEN listening to this for years...... Mick solo ... Wow I thought it was 21 !!!!!
Here's a true musician/singer/composer!
Gave this a play today with a grumpy sick baby, what do you know she's calm and watching quietly
I love this song and his music is therapy to a good feeling...

The hitting of the notes! Well impressed.
Don't overlook the dude accompanying on 2nd guitar. Super sweet
Absolutely. Sweet picking. 👍
Beautiful music, heartfelt writing and the singing... powerful emotions
Kudos to the guitarist. Playing a right handed guitar left handedly.

One of my favourites from Matchbox 20 :D
Nobody can deliver an enduring, heartfelt passion in his performances. That is what separates Rob, from the countless lyricists. Amazing!
I cant for the life of me copy his vocal style.

One of most beautiful song.
Awesome singer. Just wow. Bravo
Great performance
I love this Song of Rob Thomas Matchbox20 Forever

The best version of this song I've ever heard. Man is a legend.
Matchbox 20 - 3am HD (Live Acoustic) is well worth a listen too. Oh to have been in that audience.
