We always tell them they just have to have no secrets (unless it's a gift/surprise for the other person), open communication and a lot of forgiveness and ability to assume the best of the other person. Date nights help, too, chances to get away from the kids. We have a strong rule when we go on dates we don't discuss the kids. We discuss the kids enough after they are in bed, so date nights are time to reconnect even if the date is just take out and a walk around the neighborhood without the kids in tow. And parents absolutely adore my husband now.

My mom and my wife's mom were best friends growing up. I don't remember not knowing her. She was one of the people closet to me in my teens. She was 14 when she started telling me one day she would marry me and have my kids. I'd respond "your crazy girl ". I went to Alaska to work for a few years when I came home she was all grown up. That was 18 years ago today we have a big family together. She's everything to me it amazes me that I have loved her more than anything in this life and yet I still love her more with each passing year. We have learned allot threw the years. You mentioned always giving the benefit of the doubt this is vital the security this gives the other is priceless. We have this "home team" idea us against the world(highest loyalty). Meaning nobody else comes first(still got kids at home so they are the exception). As the husband yes I'm the head of the household because it's my job to put everyone else's needs first. So while I have final say I almost in some ways have the least. I can't ask her to to do anything that ignores her needs first I hope I worded that right. Thank you for sharing with me. Thanks Rob.....i listened to Matchbox Twenty CD ( yourself or someone like you)4 that was given to me by a friend in 2005 over and over and over for years..,got me through some difficult times along with a few other CD's by a vaiety if artists....lived two an a half hours from main shopping city when living in Wyoming ...blasted it through the Snake River Canyon...Hoback Canyon and through western Idaho country...the music is all around us thanks to musicians and singers like you best.

My parents were opposites and had a love that I’ve never seen. Even after my mothers death he would sit at the grave site all day. He joined her in 2013. I’ve been married had 2 beautiful children with a person I loved and trusted left and I lost everything. I cherish my childhood with amazing people, relationships now are no longer sacred and it’s definitely a different time I suppose. This song has resonated for decades and today as I’m in my worst way with health I’m ready to go anytime.
By FAR one of the most underrated singer songwriters of the last 50 years. I think part of it was just that he launched on the scene at a wierd point of nsync/98 degree/backstreet boys where the money was in like awkward hot kind of rocker ish dudes to offset the wierd ass wholesome white child hip hop vibe of the new kids on the block reruns. So he really wasn't nodded at as the amazing writer he REALLY is and has been. I think I was in 8th grade when the first matchbox CD came out (CDs were pretty new too, relatively and you could still buy tapes) and he was a hit, all over MTV and VH1 but I feel like the audience they marketed him to was you ger and most of his songs went right over our heads if it wasn't speaking to our wierd teen angst. But in the last 30+ years, there hasn't been a point difficult point in my life that he hasn't written some song that spoke to exactly how it felt, and I feel like that would be the same for anyone. He has a TON of amazing songs that people probably haven't even heard: everyone has heard the BIG ones, but if you think a SO is cheating, listen to bed of lies, somebody broke up with you out of the blue: rest stop, amicable separations: Bright lights, Pride marches or hope for the future: new stuff. Fall in love at first site and it's not seeming to work out: this song. His voice is just that painful voice in the back of my head for 30years, always letting me know I'm not the only one feeling this way. And here's the BIG secret: I would literally never have admitted to listening to him at any point until now. Always been and still am a hip hop head. Something about his word choices and tone....

My parents were opposites and had a love that I’ve never seen. Even after my mothers death he would sit at the grave site all day. He joined her in 2013. I’ve been married had 2 beautiful children with a person I loved and trusted left and I lost everything. I cherish my childhood with amazing people, relationships now are no longer sacred and it’s definitely a different time I suppose. This song has resonated for decades and today as I’m in my worst way with health I’m ready to go anytime.

By FAR one of the most underrated singer songwriters of the last 50 years. I think part of it was just that he launched on the scene at a wierd point of nsync/98 degree/backstreet boys where the money was in like awkward hot kind of rocker ish dudes to offset the wierd ass wholesome white child hip hop vibe of the new kids on the block reruns. So he really wasn't nodded at as the amazing writer he REALLY is and has been. I think I was in 8th grade when the first matchbox CD came out (CDs were pretty new too, relatively and you could still buy tapes) and he was a hit, all over MTV and VH1 but I feel like the audience they marketed him to was you ger and most of his songs went right over our heads if it wasn't speaking to our wierd teen angst. But in the last 30+ years, there hasn't been a point difficult point in my life that he hasn't written some song that spoke to exactly how it felt, and I feel like that would be the same for anyone. He has a TON of amazing songs that people probably haven't even heard: everyone has heard the BIG ones, but if you think a SO is cheating, listen to bed of lies, somebody broke up with you out of the blue: rest stop, amicable separations: Bright lights, Pride marches or hope for the future: new stuff. Fall in love at first site and it's not seeming to work out: this song. His voice is just that painful voice in the back of my head for 30years, always letting me know I'm not the only one feeling this way. And here's the BIG secret: I would literally never have admitted to listening to him at any point until now. Always been and still am a hip hop head. Something about his word choices and tone....
