My son is the lead singer in a successful band in the Midwest. They are called The Baboonz. Since he was 15, just starting out, he has idolized Rob Thomas and has many radio interviews stating the same. You never hear any trash about Rob Thomas, he stays out of the lime light. Yet he is one of the greatest singer and singwriters ever. Barr none!
Grew up listening to Rob. See he was from our hometown and went to our High School...shit he played at a lot of our parties. I remember the first time he played the piano in front of me and sung his tune...amazing!
He went to my high school too, so we must have gone to the same high school, and maybe even dated the same girls, maybe we err even friends, lost souls in and endless abyss of bits and bytes
I remember this acoustic set like it was yesterday, when actually it was December 11, 2002 at Morrisound Studios in Tampa, FL. They also did an acoustic version of Long Day. Really awesome guys and super nice, too. If it wasn't for Star 95.7 I never would've gotten the chance to meet either of them.
What a great video! I love hearing without all the computerized crap ( dubbing etc.)- that's when I feel the talent is really there. When you take away all of the crap. Thanks for sharing! This song means something to me, so it was nice to hear it this way!:)
The thing I love about Rob Thomas is the way he sings with so much passion and expression in his voice. It's like he's half actor and he just pours himself into the message of the song. Wonderful, wonderful
ROBS voice is AMAZING and one of my favorites i have EVER listened to...he sounds great live with no add ons, or computers...just an amazing voice with great music!! LOVE IT
my mom had brain cancer she passed away 9 months ago. this song and most all his song helped me a lot when i did not know what to say or what to feel. thanks rob for almost being a friend i could turn too.
I got into big trouble years ago. I worked for a local radio station here in town, one ofmy co workers went to meet you tog et an interview.needless to say she did it..great interview..I aired it..it was AWESOME. my boss wasnt too happy but hell .....WE DID IT thanks for all the great music
Chops = singing style, good range, rich tone, great emotion. He is singing accompanied by just an acoustic guitar and doing a gorgeous song. YOU TRY IT!
It is so refreshing to hear a true artist sing naturally and so perfectly. I know every artist has people in the recording studio to delete imperfections and make them sound perfect but Rob sounds perfect live! His voice is a rare gem.
He wrote this song about his mother struggling with cancer. My mom and I used to listen to this song when she was struggling with cancer. It still brings me back to those car rides to the hospital.
MB20 & Rob Thomas are all incredibly talented songwriters & musicians. The lyrics in their songs are stronger than most 90s "alt/pop" bands. "kody", "rest stop" & on & on great band!!!
So phenomenal.... I just keep pressing repeat. I've listened to this song countless times over 16 years or more, and this is my favourite version.... So sweet. Wow... So wish I could hear you perform live.
I was dope sick in jail and this song gave me strength to power through I want to meet him and I know the songs story it’s a bigger picture either way that you for giving me strength only real recognizes real ❤
His mom had cancer when he was growing up (around 12 I think) but he wrote the song a few years later. I agree though that he is amazing, this is a great song, and awesome that he wrote this for his mom.
didn't break up.. . went on hiatus.. which is like.. they decided to do their own things for a while. and they've been back together for two years now.. dropped a new alumn alongside their greatest hits.. it was good
He does have an AMAZING voice. To not only sound that good on CD thats been made using everything and anything to enhance ones voice, and yet to hear him sing just as good, if not better live says something!!! I wish I had his voice. Its soooo deep and believable with every word he says.... -Nick from Georgia
The song was written for his mother. He was inspired by his mother's bout with cancer. When Thomas was 12, his mother was given six months to live. But by the time he left home at 17 she was alive and well. Thomas felt that after her illness, his mother failed to take life seriously, preferring to go and party. This song is about his frustration and loneliness during this time. He chose the time 3 a.m. because this was when the bars shut."
I can't say I'm a big Matchbox 20 but this song is amazing in its power to make anyone with a heart FEEL SOMETHING. I don't know the exact date they played this but he'd probably sung this sung a hundred times by the time he did this. But look at how moved he seems to be when singing it. I don't know what his current relationship is with his mom but this was obviously a very memorable, moving time in his life when she went through this battle.
HEY, TOWARDS THE END OF THE SONG THE RAIN "STOPS" .....RAIN IN OUR LIVES COMES, AND THEN AFTER A TIME, HIS TIME, GOD'S TIME, IT ENDS.I THINK MY CLIENT WITH CANCER THAT I HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR EVER SINCE THE DIAGNOISIS ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO.EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS SONG, TEARS FLOW..SO MUCH LIFE AND OPTIMISM PUTS ME TO SHAME A PERSON IN GOOD HEALTH...LORD, DELIVER DEBBIE FROM HER CANCER AND GIVE HER (AND US) MORE YEARS OF HER SMILLING FACE AND GRAND CAYNON OPTIMISM.
