I CANNOT BELIEVE I just made this!! Seriously! I am fairly new to crochet; prior to this, the only stitches I knew were sc, dc, and hdc, and I had only made a handful of projects, such as a bookmark, a small water bottle bag, etc. I even struggled making baby booties (they turned out to be two slightly different sizes). But I thought this cardigan looked so beautiful that I just had to try it, and I did it!!! I just carefully followed the instructions, and it looks PERFECT!! Even the sizing is dead-on! I am beyond thrilled! It took me some time - because I am still quite slow - but I did it! Thank you, Rachel, for your beautiful pattern and excellent instructions. I am so grateful. I didn’t buy the kit because I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to finish, and it would have been a waste, but now that I know that I am capable, I’ll probably buy kits for future projects. I used the Lion Brand Coboo yarn that I found at Walmart, and it worked just beautifully - nice and silky with a lovely drape. In fact, I still can’t get over how gorgeous this cardigan is, and I am still in shock that I actually was able to do it! If you have any doubts, just carefully follow Rachel’s instructions on her blog and the video and count your stitches well - the instructions will not lead you astray! I also made sure to do the recommended swatch test first to make sure my tension wasn’t too tight or loose, and I measured the foundation chains carefully to be sure they matched the measurements listed on the pattern before beginning each panel. Can’t wait to give this lovely cardigan to my daughter (I know she’ll love it!), and I can’t wait to try another project! Thanks again!
I finished crocheting my lakehouse cardigan just in time for my family photo session. It turned out beautifully, thank you for the easy-to-follow tutorial and pattern! ❤
I enjoy watching you just crochet; its kind of soothing. Interesting how people vary in holding the hook and holding and moving the yarn. Thank you, and look forward to making this cardi!
Thank you for teaching me how to make this! It is my first garment other than a hat! lol! I wanted the sleeves longer so I added 3 rows of double crochet before I did the front post/back post ribbing. It turned out great! I also made your Daisy Bag and love it too! Now to decide what to make next from your amazing videos!
I made this lovely cardigan, but made the rows vertical instead of horizontal (more slimming IMO). I used Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend in an ivory color. It is so pretty! Thank you for sharing this lovely design and instruction with us. ❤
I am currently crocheting this cardigan and it’s a dream! Love it! Although I’m late to the party, just found your channel and have my eye on another one of your patterns when I’ve finished this one! New subscriber added. Your tutorials are so easy to follow and understand. Just a little tip for everyone in case some don’t know, I use stitch markers to hold my pieces together when I’m seaming them. ❤
May I ask if you're using 3 weight yarn like the video? I have everything but 3 weight at home, I have 2 weight that is just beautiful but didn't know if I used it - if it would change it drastically in size. Any suggestions? If I need to buy 3 weight I will, I have no problem buying yarn, but would love use what I already have.
@@donnapeterson1945 hello Donna, I’m using 3 weight yarn, I live in the uk so over here it is a cotton DK. I’ve just completed the two front panels and have just started the back and so far everything is working out fine and the size so far is good. Hope this helps. It really is so easy and quick, I will be making another in another colour. Good luck and hope you enjoy making it. 🩷
Thank you so much for you reply. I think I'll play it safe and get the correct 3 weight (DK) yarn. This pattern is just beautiful and perfect to wear with shorts or a cute sundress over the spring/summer. Happy crocheting!@@beverlyhitchon4901
@@donnapeterson1945 no problem at all. She has some gorgeous designs I’m sure there will be one you can use your other wool for. Have a good day Donna. ❤
I'm working on this beautiful pattern now. I did the pattern for XL, but after a few row repeats, i measured my work (it seemed small) and it fit a size medium! Ugg, now it's for my niece. Lol. Tip! Always do a Swatch! I'm a tight crocheter, it's silly i failed to do a Swatch.
Thank you so much! I made this for my mom :) I hope she likes it lol. Thank you so much for the different sizes too! I might make one for myself since it's so easy to use your pattern and change the sizing.
I finally get to start this cardigan, now that I got my kit. I ran across your designs looking for vest pattern, of course I had to browse through your other patterns and have a few lined up to do.
Hi! I have been a knitter all my life and just started to crochet a month ago. I managed to do the Fdc with a lot of trial and error but I finally got it! I just finished my first panel and it measures 8 in by 23 in after blocking. I am making size small. Do you think I could add some rows and just make the back panel wider and get by? I should of done a swatch to check my gauge. I am using the truboo and I love it! It takes some getting use to but it is so worth it! I am using the color "wave" and it is so pretty!
If you find the pattern on her website, you'll see the info for a gauge. Use the yarn you have to see how big the swatch will be with a size 4 yarn. She lists the lengths of each panel in inches, so you can judge based on the size difference of the swatch how many rows you'll need to make
Thank you, I'm going to do this. I'm working on this pattern now with DK , it's too think for my hands, need many breaks. But boy it's a beautiful pattern! a@@alexandriacrause2972
Im following your written pattern, and I am having a hard time getting the Stitch Count right?? The front panels don't cone out right with a count of 51 or 53. I never have my beginning count. I usually have to many stitches at the end of the double crochet rows?? Please reply 🙏
I started your lovely cardigan pattern last year, unfortunately I have been very poorly for a while, now I am able to crochet again, but you have taken the pattern off you tube and your website! I am 3/4 of the way there, is it on another site?
Quick question: When counting the rows for the height of the panels, do you start counting at the foundation row or the first row of loops? I'm making the 2X size, so the written pattern says 77 rows, but idk where to start.
I just barely finished a 2x size, and the way I made counting the rows easier was by making sure that I had 16 “sets” of the pattern (so I didn’t really count the foundation row at all). Each “set” included the pattern: the chain loop row, the row of single crochets connecting the loops, the double crochet row, and the single crochet row. 16 of those pattern sets. Hope this helps!
I have a question, i bought the yarn kit from Lion Brand for this pattern, but, it didn't come with the Pattern at all. Only a card saying Meet the Designer. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!
Hi! If you buy the kit, they should have emailed your download to the same email you used to purchase the kit! Be sure to check your spam and if you cant find it feel free to contact me at evelynandpetercrochet@gmail.com and I can send you another copy!
This is a pretty pattern. I am using the same Truboo yarn and a size G 4.0mm hook and the number of stitches for a size large. Ten rows are done for the back panel and it measures 32.5" wide which puts it on track to be a size 3X. My stitches are 117 across according to the size L chart. Is it possible my stitching is that loose? I think I need to start over but not sure the size to follow?
FYI I am actually making this with Caron One Pound 6.5mm K hook. I take a shirt that fits and use that as my guide. Lay my first row across the bottom of my tshirt. And have it match one of the beginning count of the written pattern. So for me it was 89. My stitches are a lot bigger then in the video so even though I am making a 3x my stitch count is close to small pattern. I am making mine waist link to dress up when I wear tshirts.
Diana - each repeat is 4 rows. So if you have 4 repeats done, you really have 16 rows. So when it says 65 rows it breaks down by 4 :) also mine came out a lot longer. Just keep track of how many rows you did so you can mimic it on the other panels. Hope this helps
I have to say for not showing the crocheting of all panels done in 30 minutes.....excellent.Very good. Also the fact u showed completely all panels and how they would look.Alot dont do that.I had that happen on another channel.Me being a somewhat beginner in crochet....she did not explain very good ended up a complete waste of time.Very beautiful work.

I like a little more coverage in the front. Can I ad extra stitches to the front panels only to a achieve this?
It's very pretty. I want to try the pattern. Wish me luck!
My panel grew too long on my 4th repeat, do I need to frog it all? I’m a newbie, this thin yarn is sooo hard, but nice.
Hi,can we make this with 8ply yarn, will it be good
Beautiful!!! It will my next project.

So I'm not good at reading patterns but really want to do this. How many did u chain for the back panel for an adult small

It would be great if you could tell us approximately how long the patterns you do take from start to finish.
would this pattern work with Lion Brand Comfy Cotton? Would I have to adjust my hook size bigger or smaller?
comfy cotton would work! You would need to check gauge to see if you need to make any hook adjustments!
I have a question, i bought the yarn kit from Lion Brand for this pattern, but, it didn't come with the Pattern at all. Only a card saying Meet the Designer. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!
