I've seen Boucheron get 2 points of HP on a single level up before so you definitely can.
Anyway, loved the guide! Personally I made mine a General and paired him with Ike just to stack his bulk up as high as possible. I also gave him Corrin's Pair Up skill to make sure that he basically can't be overwhelmed by any amount of physical enemies. Magic is a different story, but his decent res growth + Laguz Friend when he engages means that he can still take on a couple mages at a time.
That sounds like a great pairing there! Love to hear all the wonderful combinations people come up with. Thank you for the kind words about the video and for letting me know about the double star growths as well. When I get to making guides on characters (like Boucheron) that have over 100% in any stat growths I’ll make sure to tell people that you can get multiple in levels.

Virtually every Fire Emblem game has some random weak level 1 kid given to you at the beginning of the game, but if you baby him he becomes the 2nd or 3rd strongest unit out of everyone. Jean is that kid in this game.
I made his a Martial Master and with the S Rank Divine Fist Art, he obliterates everyone in one attack, even dragons. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Ehhhh.... Not a bad choice, but I feel like Anna has been run into the ground in a million other guides due to her money making abilities. Either go Warrior -> Bow Knight for Radiant Bow spam or go Sage for Magic nuker. If you have DLC, Tiki plus High Priest Anna makes you a bajillion dollars. If Unpunk has other ideas though, I'd love to hear them, but I'd kinda like to see him do a lesser focused character.

I actually made him a High Priest and he ended up being my highest magic damage output in Hard Mode. He is basically un-killable when you pair with Micaiah with Nosferatu. He solos sections by endgame already.
Him and Yunuka are legit monsters when built properly

Made mine a sage and gave him byleth to make him a nova nuke (also had him growing stats through whole early game with tiki ring)
But he has more potential in strenght than magic...
Jean is honestly an amazing example of how a recruit would work he fits into so many amazing classes and can out perform everyone it's just amazing how good he can become
I turned him into a Swordmaster with Tiki, and a Blazing infused (I think that's Lyn's) +5 Wo Dao
He solos full maps now, mvp of this playthrough
Yunaka would be a great guide since she’s a good unit that you get pretty early
Give her lucinas symbol for more avoid, give her a silver dagger with a few refinements and slap corrin on her and you have an unlikable death dealer, and with her natural resistance growth mages can't do much to her even if they do hit.
Plus with the pair up skill from corrin and her dragon vain skill will make her god tier
I think Jean is so rough in the early maps but if you give him the tiki ring he’ll be busted before level 10
Turn him into a Paladin and give him Starsphere from Tiki.
I gave him Tiki and put him on Great Knight with Killer Axe and he was invincible all game long. On maddening classic.
I found that Jean as a Martial Master paired with Emblem Braclette Soren (If you have DLC), while teamed up with Jade (General equiped with Smash type Axe) and paired with Emblem Ring Ike; really shows the true potential of Tank and Support. Thier synergy together is monster.
I always have Jade/Ike Emblem Engage their special infront of jean and utilize Jades/Sorens decoy skill on her. This is like a pool of blood for mosquitos (Enemy PCs) to come linger in right before Jade/Ike explodes following player turn. If any survive, the have Jean/Soren follow up with their Cataclysm+, which should wreck house. IKE with Corrins innate skill to heal near by allies for 10 HP after action will help top off anyone around. Especially Jade.

Correction** Jean (Not Ike) with Corrins Skill, Quality Time, will help to top off all adjacent allies with 10HP after every one of his turns; including Wait. 😀
I found that jean gains alot of hp. Any class with very high hp cap is what you want
I feel like Jean is the Engage's Donnel. While they both start at a somewhat weaker state than everyone, they soon become unkillable gods given enough time. The only difference is that I never really liked the idea of Magic based Donnel but I do see Jean as dual wielding both Magic and Physical (quite literally for High Priest and Martial Master route) Weapons into battle yeeting enemies into the horizon. It’s the villager archetype. The villager starts out very weak but is guaranteed to become powerful if you put time into them

Wouldn't Jean just be best in Martial Master? Arts takes (Str+Mag/2) from what I recalled. So it's best to have a unit with complete balance in both str/mag because if a unit has higher str or mag, they are better off prioritizing the dominant stat by using a class that utilizes it. Just seems to be that Jean would be the perfect candidate for that and the creators seem to think so considering it's his default class.
Apart from that, he could also be a great evade tank with 80 spd, 50 def, 40 res and 50 luck considering that his growth rate is x2. Keen to know your opinion, this is my first fire emblem game afterall.
I keep seeing people mention that martial classes have strength+magic for their attacks but I can’t find anywhere that shows this in game. Also only his class growths would double so I assume his str+mag/2 was just to describe his class str and mag will be double growths
@@Unpunk That's completely not what I said though. I'm saying the damage calculation for ARTS (Fist Weapon) uses (STR+MAG)/2 formula to calculate its damage. Read my previous comment again.
@@kaidestinyz oh you were saying divided by 2 my bad. It’s the average from what you are saying. Where does this information come from though? I don’t see it anywhere in the game text at all so is it a secret feature they don’t tell us? If so how are we expected to know that because we assume those classes aren’t great without this knowledge
Ya arts is mag and strength totalled divided by 2. A lot of thr leaders confirmed this when they detained the game. So far it's just shadow info

what's the consensus on most OP jean build?
I personally love Jean, made him a martial master. It feels a little wrong to have the unit with the highest stats on my team as my healer. But I honestly can’t see him as anything else. Maybe in my next playthrough, I’ll make him a hero or swordmaster
The reason I dislike the martial master is that it grows both strength and magic making one or the other less than the best it could be
@@Unpunk fists use the average of both STR and MAG, which is why it’s like that (and that’s why Alear is terrible with them). I’ve been using Jean in my maddening run as primarily a healer but he’s slowly turning into an ass kicker as well that sometimes I’ll have him prioritize killing something over healing someone if it means I can clear the immediate area of threats.

You can rush him to General for like 5-10 levels then swap him to Royal Knight and he makes a really good healer and tank.
@@malsmythicmanmodes7478 oh that also sounds really fun! Imagine him in a Royal knight class with micaiah. All that range for healing, magic attacks, physical attacks. And being able to warp a team Half way across a battlefield
What about Royal Knight? Is it a good choice for him? Right now I have him as a Martial Master, but I would like to change him. I didn't go Hight Priest bc i did not want to lose the Chain Guard ability, but I am not using it a lot recently.
I’m not 100% on this but I thought that Royal knight class was only available for maivier?
@@Unpunk No you can use it on other characters, my Clanne could get this class (it's the cavalier with lance + staff, right? sorry I'm playing the game in different language so I'm trying to translate the name class)
@@Melifanatique yes that is the correct class. I’ll need to look into it more as I haven’t seen it on all characters. Maybe it is exclusive to make units or something

At the time of making this video I did not understand (wasn’t aware) that matertial arts take magic and strength stat add them together and divide by 2 to get a average for attack. Basically what I mean is the class looked bad on paper because I didn’t know that. I’d reconsider the class now
Put TIki on Jean when you are leveling him up for starsphere
Don’t need to put it on him. Just level their bond to 5 and inherit the skill. Much better because he can then use a better emblem

I agree. Framme is just a unit I never want to use. Nothing about her is appealing to me
I would like to see a guide on lapis, I've been using her as a wyvern knight and she is pretty good in that class
I went halbedier and the better growths and lance access is pretty good for her

This is where hunter x hunter really came from. On a real note I’ve seen a few for Alear. The next one is already in progress but I think we got our next choice coming up soon 👀
Is the stat percentage growth only on hard mode or only maddening
The stat growths are fixed in maddening that I found out. So basically that means if you got a 25% chance to level up a stat it will take 4 levels to get that boost

What inherited abilities would you recommend once you've taken the white one?
Taken the white one? Not sure what that means but while you are leveling him up I recommend the Lineage ability (from Edelgard) to allow for 20%+ exp growth and the starsphere ability (from Tiki) that allows for an extra 20% to all final growths. Those will help make his growths really good while you level him up.

Paladin have well balanced stat growths in a lot of stats. it might be good for him.
What about a royal knight ?
You can get 2 points btw with a 110%. 100% chance to get +1, 10% chance to get another +1
I would not recomend to use jean at maddening unless you want to test why base stats are so important...

I use Jean in maddening just fine. He needs extra time to get up his stats at first but he only comes as a level 1 character so you cannot expect him to start off good at all
Congrats then, my child couldn't stand that hell. Im doing my first run on maddening and couldn't keep him alive. Not a huge fan of babysitting trainees in a mode with the xp so capped.

Don't level Jean until you can Second Seal him into Axe Fighter. Master Seal him into Warrior at level 10. His personal skill will give him a 70% growth in SPD, and a 55% in DEX, both of which axe units seem to struggle with. Give him Lyn and he'll absolutely murder everything in the game. If you don't like how squishy he is, give him Ike, but honestly with access to a refined longbow and good positioning, you shouldn't need to tank, everything will die before it can hit him. Canter can also help him reposition to stay safe. If you have DLC, Tiki and Edelgard inheritable skills will help him snowball harder, and Hector can be solid on him as well, if you want your Lyn somewhere else.
Nah. Always only use second seals after you promote. Saves money.

Jean’s personal actually rolls the level up twice and keeps both increases (doesn’t stack)
Pretty certain this is incorrect. Literally everyone has agreed for a while it doubles his class stat growths, no re rolls.
This is correct it does not re roll at all. It gives him twice the growth that is possible for the class growths.

I appreciate you bringing that up because a lot of people have been hearing that is how it works. I know from a few datamined sources and websites how the skills work is why I wanted to shutdown any confusion
Dude stop being so growth obsessed, you will sound a lot more credible if you use bases and averages instead of talking about growths in a vacuum.
