  • I overtightened my lug nut on my wheel. The result was a broken and stripped wheel stud. Here is my experience replacing the stud.

    Thanks for the video! I needed to use P'Blaster to free up the broken stud to let it get hammered out. I was able to hammer in the new stud from behind as there was space at about the 2 o'clock position. I didn't have any appropriate sized washers to pull in the new the stud.

    Last week, I completed the screw replacement, and I removed the bearing to allow the screw to go into the screw hole more easily.

    Good instructions.
    I had one other problem c... caliper had closed up and I had to push it back in to get wide enough to go on. Just steady pressure did it.
    It goes back in slow be patientas hydraulic s do

    Thank you sir for sharing your repair and the time you spent shooting and editing. I always thought your van is a run-flat AWD due to the rim style, today you mentioned you have a spare tire!?!?!

      Thank you for the comments! My van is a 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited. I am not the original owner, but have owned it since 2005 with the van having about 20k miles already on it. However, I do have a spare tire located under the passenger side mid-section. It's small, but functional. I have never replaced the tires with run flat.

      @@projectfixit we have same minivan (2004 XLE limited) we have same issue but I can’t do myself. Do you know how much will cost me when I bring it to the Toyota dealer?

      @@johnestremera1094 I plugged in the information for my zip code on (repairpal.com) and it states the repair for only one wheel stud on the rear side runs between $86-$100.

    I've never seen anyone hammer a rachet to torque down a brake caliper bracket. I guess that is one way to strip or break a bolt.

    Great work! I would make sure the torque is correct on the caliper bolts.

    Where did you get your puller from? And what exactly is it called? Wasn’t able to take mine off my sienna

      This puller set should do the trick. They come in handy....or you can rent them from auto parts store.

    Good instructions, worked well. As a note you don't have to use a puller you can just screw those screws all the way into the drum alternating back and forth, works OK. You can even get a screw for it off the hood: ruclips.net/video/Z2n2nB4Vmmg/видео.html Also my biggest space for entry was at around 7 o'clock for some reason :)

    Shoe brake pads and disc brakes? Explain that.

    • @projectfixit
      @projectfixit  2 года назад

      Rotor discs and pads for standard braking while brake shoes and mini-drum for parking brake.
