- Опубликовано: 4 май 2018
- In this DIY, my special guest Sage shows the world how easy it is to replace a broken lug nut bolt. This is an easy fix and can be completed in under an hour with basic tools. Total cost of this job was $2.49.
Tools you will need
-Set of standard sockets or star wrench
-Hammer
-Punch
-New Lug Nut Stub/Bolt
-2 Washers & a Spacer Nut
-Car Jack
-Bottle Jacks for Safety - Авто/Мото
Sage is adorable. I just want to say that as a woman who was raised by a military dad with 3 older brothers, giving a young woman mechanical knowledge is priceless. I don't know how much money I have saved over the years by knowing a thing or two about cars. I've been quoted thousands for rack and pinion replacement, then went home and replaced the $20 tie rod ends. I was given a quote yesterday for over $400 for wheel hub assembly replacement because I have a broken lug stud (I'll be fixing that myself for about $3). On behalf of women everywhere, thank you for teaching her about cars.
Thanks Gail! Sounds like you have a wealth of information you can teach as well.
Also, as a lil-bit-older Female - I Thank The LORD ABOVE - for Giving me a dad who raised me in a Garage🥰🥰🥰🥰
Excellent! The most important thing is you are creating memories with your daughter.
This not only makes Sage comfortable and knowledgeable in order to work on her own car someday but the confidence and self-sufficiency she'll gain will transfer over to other aspects of her life.
Thanks for showing a tutorial from a kids POV makes it easier to understand than all the videos of people hammering the crap out of their wheel
Damn! That little kid is a better mechanic than A Lot of ASE mechanics I've run into over the years!
Right! ;)
My dad taught me about car repair years ago, he's been gone 37 years, im 67 and still work on my cars, saved thousands of dollars DIY. My mom was from Montana, but i cant remember what town.

Right!
Sage is adorable and an amazing mechanic!
How to have a happy marriage: make sure to tire out the kids with physical labor. Mix in the memory card games. You grow a good child brain. Peace.
When you're down and out and need direction. This video will make you smile. I personally needed it
I am always looking for reasons to smile. Hope all is good!
She's adorable & daddy's little girl. More little boys & girls should be taught the basic auto mechanics.

Thank you for this. With daughters and grand daughters stuck overseas due to Covid for past 20 months this is the best medicine.
You bet!
Gosh, I hope your daughter stays excited to be helpful. My 3 kids were excited to be helpful til about 8 and now that they are teens or pre teens, they throw massive tantrums whenever asked to do anything. Godspeed Sir.
I don't have any kids of my own, but always happy to teach nieces, nephews and buddie's kiddos how to wrench!
This is awesome brother! Way to go Sage! I have 3 girls myself. Definitely planning some daddy/daughter time like this.
Sir, i can't thank you and your daughter enough for this video😊👍 I just changed one of ny studs on my first car (Pontiac g3 2010). Me and my dad where changing the brake drums when we broke stud. Since we had no power tools, i figured we were done byt your video showed how to do it with just a ratchet! I went and bought a torque wrench and the right sockets and me and my brother and father finally got it done! Thanks!
She was fantastic!! Water is always key young lady
Right!
Thanks. Sage was a refreshing & fun note in a useful video.

My "little" girl is getting married next summer. Enjoy those young years. I'm enjoying these years too, but its different. I immediately recognized that hub cap as a 70's GM truck. Had several years ago. Thanks for the video.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you brother I needed this. Wheel came due to loose lug nuts. Ripped two of the studs now I need to replace them. This was easy as hell!
AWESOME!! Nice work knocking it out.
Well done! Thanks for the demo. And what a great Father you are, teaching your daughter valuable Life Lessons like: 1. Do it yourself. 2. Girls can learn, appreciate and do things which are typically for boys only. Kudos to you!
When women do more in any field, men stop complaining and what not about how hard or long something takes. Last night, My befriend mechanic was bitoching all this and that and it's almost sun down, cry cry cry about doing my brakes. He was trimming as I was mowing around at 5pm. I went in after cutting grass and put a pot roast in the oven and veggies, walked back out and put on the front brakes of my truck within 40 minutes. He was peddling around. I got in around 7 to finish cooking for both of US to eat and showered. Guess what he did: walked away slowly, washed up, and sat down to eat. Nothing came out about wut can't be done. He did thank me for cooking on a Friday nite. I work everyday and there's no time restraints or whatever excuse when things have to be done. We expose the true mentality of folk when others see the job vs it being just a guy's job. We need more females in plumbing, home contracting and auto.
Bravo for teaching you child to be independent, if needed, in auto maintenance
Thanks for the video gonna be replacing a couple wheel studs today
Good luck!!!
That’s great. Thank you so much. I feel I’m confident enough to do it now. 👍🏻
How bad was it? Snapped a stud yesterday about to beat the stud out
She is adorable. Thank you for sharing this video. It is the best explanation, the best view of everything. You save us money and time. Thanks again.
You bet!
@@MechanicLife The stud doesn't want to come out. I tried with or without the punch and it seems to be stuck or something. I put W40 and waited a bit still nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks
Great Work.... raising a strong knowledgeable young lady....

Daddy's little girl awe too sweet.
Melted my Heart.
You Sir
Are a Wealthy Man.
Always great when you have room for nut, most cars today have a shield/dust cover you either cut or remove hub to do.

Hello there. From Brandon, Florida
Like 👍 your video saved me a lot of time, honestly I didn't know how easy this would be; I was about to take the wheel hub out and I thought about to look in you tube and your title was what I was looking for.
Thank you 🙏👍👏👏👏
Great!! Glad it helped you out.
That child is going to be a success in life. Period.
Right!

I dont have kids but im going to teach my niece and nephed stuff like this more. Sometimes most of us dont think to teach them things like this at that age.
that's cool I m from Park County to and I didn't know how to replace my wheel studs on my Chevy thanks for the help
You bet!
I loved this video! My dad wouldn't let us drive till we learned how to change a tire and I'm proud to say that I've changed a lot of tires in my lifetime on not only my trucks but on friends' vehicles as well! I've even taught two people how to change tires on their cars when they were stranded & had no clue what to do. I've got a seized lug nut on my old 1986 Ford F-150 & am watching lug bolt replacement videos just in case anything bad happens, and that's how I stumbled upon this video. You have a new subscriber now! Keep up the great work! (And hopefully I won't need to replace my lug bolt but I like knowing that I can if I have to).
Thanks! That it a great story. Thanks for sharing!!:)
I also really liked that she highly encourages us to stay hydrated - smart girl!
It's always a sunny day in Montana isn't? Well daddy....stick around for winter time lol
Thank god for the invention of the internet 😭 ima have to change mine today
Good luck! Its pretty quick and easy.
Thanks this helped a whole lot! I'd say for the total noobs make sure to let them know they cant keep the washers and nut on and that you remove them right after tightening and pulling the stud through.
That is a very good point!
@@MechanicLife thanks for this helpful video sir, God bless
I just broke the stud off while I was tryna torque my lug nuts on my quad thanks
You bet!
Haha cute as a button! So good to see our brothers and sisters across the ocean doing the same as we do in Australia!
Get the kiddos into mechanics early mate!
That kid is putting in effort! Great job! :D

Your a good dad !
Wow I love the way you are including your daughter to do some work with you You are awesome Man Love it and she is so so so sweet :--)
This just saved my night
Great video.
Thank you for this. I am doing all 5 on one tire by myself today. The entire tire just took off without me while on the freeway.
Good luck. Thats scary that the whole tire came off!!!
Thank you. I was able to fix it since I made this comment. My confidence came from "it's so easy, even a kid can do it." I'm now about to back to that part of the freeway to attempt to find the lost tire, or mostly the rim. I was lucky to have a full spare on me.
Good job by you both.
Question: if you hammer the stud so it sits in the hub but isn't quite flush, would the tightening of the lug nuts flush it against the hub?
