The one I used in this video on the Corolla is: Dorman 610-266 Wheel Stud
You will need to get both front wheels off the ground unless you have your broken bolt aligned perfectly with the groove. [not likely]
Replacement bolts are about $2. Most auto parts stores carry them.
If you are going to use Threadlocker, use the BLUE and NOT the Red. The blue is easier to remove. See it here amzn.to/2eTZLV4
The car I am working on is a 2003 Toyota Corolla.

Good video for the DIY people out there. Just a few side notes to add. First, when installing the new wheel stud you always want to use some sort of oil on the spline of the stud. Your are essentially pressing the stud into the hub face so some sort of oil should be used. Whether it be WD-40, motor oil or all purpose oil you need to lubricate it before tightening/pressing the stud into the hub face or you could be looking at replacing the whole hub assembly in some cases. It also makes it much easier for the stud to press into the hub. Next, NEVER use red loctite on your caliper bracket bolts. Most newer cars use cast aluminum steering knuckles and using permanent thread lock can and will be a costly mistake. I'm an ASE and Michigan certified master mechanic. In Michigan we deal with a lot of salt which makes these types of jobs difficult. So adding thread lock is the opposite of what you want to do. You should add some sort of anti-seize on the caliper bracket bolts and it's very important to torque them down to your specific vehicles manufacturer specification. Lastly, I do not recommend stacking washers to take up the slack on the wheel stud. I typically use a 16mm impact socket. By using a socket or a bushing that the taper fits towards the outside of the taper on your lug nut, you won't risk damaging the end of your threads on lug nut. I'm not writing this to be negative, I'm trying to help others avoid some of the mistakes I've made in the last 18 years of wrenching. I appreciate your video and all of you "do it yourselfers" taking the time and energy to helpful videos so people can do their own automotive repairs. Good video! Thanks for contributing to the automotive DIY RUclips community. Keep up the good work!!
Awesome comments. Thanks for adding your experience and helping everyone out!
Agreed, thankyou!! appreciate the extra tips on top a great video!
Dope comments, nice video too
So glad you mention tightening bolts to the correct torque. Didn't see this done in the clip.
is the oil to help "weld" the stud in?
Thank you. This video is eight years old and still helping people out, including myself.
I broke two studs today changing a flat tire, good thing they were across, this video made it easy cuz I had no idea how to install the new ones, THANK FOR THE VID!!!
Holy crap, I though this was gonna be a lot harder to do! I'm broke as hell right now and don't have the money to take it to a shop. This took a huge load off my chest! Thank you!
this isnt something you have to do if you are broke. You can drive a corolla on 3 studs if need be. There is not much weight on the wheels.
@darkAndDandy
beautiful Godbless🙏🏻 and also thankz aLott to the uploaWderz uv theeze videos🏆🥇
Load 🤣
@@Y10Q Well the way I look at it there has to be a reason they put 5 studs on it it's supposed to be run with 5 studs the way I see it. If it were me I would probably drive mine with a broken stud but my 18 year old daughter is gonna be driving the car so we're gonna have to have that broken stud replaced.
Thank you so much for posting this easy to follow video. I hate getting jerked around at the mechanic shops because I'm a woman. When I went to have my tires rotated, the same thing happened to me here in this video. I was told it would cost over $600 (worse case scenario) when I knew that stud was less than $3.... I've been working hard to learn how to fix minor issues on my own and have been successful thanks to people like you! Thanks!

Thank you, thank you, thank you🙏. Your video is the ONLY one I’ve seen that showed and explained about how to remove the calipers properly and the rotors. Every other video skipped all of this and it’s important to complete the job. You’re my personal savior, I swear. Now I’m confident I can do it.
Awesome, I have an '02 Corolla, just did my brakes this week so that all looks very familiar :-) Not had the lug nut problem but I keep reading about people snapping them off and feared that must result in a huge big job replacing major wheel parts. I had no idea you could literally replace one stud until today. And other videos I've watched show people cutting the dust shield and filing down half of the nut head to squeeze it in place, made me nervous considering how important those studs are. Seeing how easy it is on the Corolla puts my mind at ease. Thanks for showing this process.
Thank you for this. Recently took my 09 Corolla in to have a tire patched after picking up a fastener. Today, I decided to swap my front brakes before heading out for holiday travel (a job that I've done 20+ times over the years across various vehicles) and noticed that one of my nuts had been cross threaded - leading to me sheer the bolt during removal. As if often the case, my ~30 min job has turned into a ~2hr job (now that I have to make another trip to the auto store), but your video helped me learn what I needed to do which will ultimately save me some additional wasted time. Now, off to the store with bold and nut in hand! Thanks!
I don’t know if someone already said this, because I just started watching, but rather than using a stack of washers, I was told to use an extra lug nut upside down/ backwards? and tighten it down, then tighten it down more with another lug nut to “seat” the stud. I tried forever in a different car to do this until I was finally told that it was probably unsuccessful because zi had an after-market wheel hub assembly, and there were no studs to pop back in. That was one of the rare times i have given up mid-job to have my car towed to the shop.
Thanks a lot. My Rav4 is back on track. I had broken a stud while changing tires. Now it's fixed for only 3$.
This is a legit comment from a real dude
.... you saved my life i thought i had to replace the entire thing that those screws go in.
I can tell this video is going to be the most helpful . 4 out of 5 of my nuts broke off and we JUST noticed when the tire started to fall off 🤦🏾♂️ thank you for posting this !
I have to replace two lug bolts and am very glad I found your video! Thank you for posting it, it will save me a LOT of work.
Just discovered my mechanic threaded my wheel bolt and nut. Perfect video.
Made it look easy and ill be doing this shortly with confidence.
Thanx so much for this old video! This just happened to my 08 xB today and Firestone wouldn't touch it because of my chrome wheels. I drove it home, put the thunder to it and it broke off. And with your video, I now know how to replace the broken one!
this just did this to my car. Thought I was in for some expensive repair until I saw your video. Thanks worked out great and wasn't even that hard.
I broke two studs hours ago and I'm watching this. Gosh I feel stupid. I'm so relieved to find this video
Nice video. Very detailed, great angles, and accurate! You saved me both time and money by doing this video, so thank you!!
Perfect video! I only have the one vehicle and it's always scary to take it out of service when repairing it. It's nice to know what I'm getting into before the car is ripped apart and I realize I have to run to the parts store for that thing I forgot! Thanks.
The BEST video I have seen in my search!! Thank you Adam!
Costco broke off one of my studs replacing tires with a new set of Michelins yesterday on my Corolla. They installed the previous set too and I did all the tire rotations on schedule: only Costco ever laid a wrench on those wheels. So I can prove they stripped the stud. I am having my local mechanic replace the broken stud and present Costco with the bill.
Great video by the way.
Great video, calmed me down after a shop cross threaded my lugs. Thanks, super easy fix.
Thank you so much Adam!!! Sheared a bolt off changing the caliper. You really saved the day and prevented a coronary💓 Subbed and stoked to learn more from you.
Much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
You saved me from taking it to the mechanic. Did it fairly quickly. Thank you.
This video helped me out a lot. Rotor was a pain to take off but got it done with a ton of wd40. Thanks for the video!
Tip l just learned when doing this! When you are trying to seat the new wheel stud / lug nut stud, apply grease to the stud and the nut or whatever you are using, as well as to whatever surface that nut will be pressing up against. l realised this halfway through seating mine and the difference was absolutely insane! spent 10 minutes torqueing it at sketchy levels, which changed to the stud seating in like 5-10 seconds.
You just saved me so much time & money, I almost considered replacing the entire wheel hub assembly. This is a much faster & cheaper solution I just wasn't sure how I would get the new studs in & I knew the sledgehammer wasn't gonna cut it. You rock!
Me neither
i tried o do this a few years ago and it did not work because it was not original wheel hub assembly.
That sucks, mine were original so I had no problems using this method
AdamDIY, thanks you saved me $175.00 plus parts. thanks again AdamDIY
Thank you sir! Perfection! Can't do this tonight, but I will after I get off work tomorrow. God bless.
Very informative yet easy to understand, thank you so much!!

I just broke mine yesterday in a Corola 2010. I thought I just crew everything up and need to remove a lot of parts. Thank you for your video. Very helpful...
Hi Adam,
This video helped a lot. Thank you!
-Duane
thank you very much sir I did this with only two hours until it was time to go to work but thanks to you i was able to fix two broken studs and be on time to work thank you!!!
Thank you so much!!!!!!!! This video was perfect in details and instruction. We were able to do it all thanks once again.
The small stuff made this the best in this area. Not taking the caliber apart and jacking the other wheel up to move this side was not done on other video's doing the same thing.
Very good and quite useful video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you very much for the video. I did the job in half the time, and for 1/16 of the price, that Pep Boys quoted me.
Oh my God dude you just save me bro thank you thank you thank you. I thought I was gonna have to buy a new wheel or take it to the mechanic and spend the hard money that I made this week and you save me bro thanks!!!
I drove recently to the next town some 20 miles away and noticed a noise like a wheel bearing. Checked the four wheels and upon checking the third wheel, the passenger front, I found three lugs sheared right off!!! Limped home the 20 miles away SLOWLY. Now I need a mechanic right now!! Thanks for your informative video!!! Was driving a 2004 Buick Park Ave.
Very helpful.Thank you for taking your time to Made the video👍
You just saved me a lot of money. Thank you.
That was awesome! Thanks, I just broke mine today now I can get to work.

yea my old wheel studs were rusted from all the salt and two of them broke trying to get the tire off today... video was a great help.. although my bolts and that small grove were not quite so cooperative and require a good bit of hammering to get the new bolt in past it..
it was very helpful thank you so much..
