    Tie a fly made of regular household materials. The "Beardo" was hilarious, now make one from something found in your garage or from the kitchen? Then I foresee a fishing challenge with your new flies. Feel free to challenge others...like @Huge Fly Fisherman and see who's fly is better!

    Nice tie. I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I recommend trying a pink squirrel if you haven't already. Another simple and quick tie that produces time and time again. I don't think there is a fly box that doesn't have a few of them here in the driftless.

      Roll the dubbing tighter in the beginning and gradually loosen it . Should give you a better taper

    Do you ever lose dropper flies when fishing a barbless anchor?
    I always thought that hoppers should have barbs so the dropper doesn’t slide off, but in theory it shouldn’t matter if there is tension on the line, as the line would stay in the bend of the hook. I am just concerned that a nymph would come off behind another barbless nymph.

    • @AboutTrout
      @AboutTrout  3 года назад +1

      I rig off tags when nymphing so it’s not an issue . You’ll be good with a clinch to the bend of a barbless hopper . Hope that helps .

    Provo river fish wont eat it if its a size 16 or larger, if there are 14 fibers on one side and 15 on the other, and if its not fished on 10x tippet...I hate this river...

      @@AboutTrout would you sell any of them. I fish the Chama at Coopers, or a couple miles back from the dam by Abiquiu. I just recently started fishing the Rio over by John Dunn or on the lower level by Pilar. The guys at Reel Life and Taos fly shop got me a few patterns to throw. I’d like to try these out too especially in Jemez. I’ve been fishing that and it’s doing producing a lot of fish. Didn’t realize below the day area holds a large amount of fish.
