  • In this fly tying tutorial, Cheech shows how to tie the Extra Super Jig. There are a lot of Euro flies that claim to be extra cool or super awesome. Cheech nailed this pattern. It's simple, effective and easy to tie. He appropriately named it the Extra Super Jig. He adds a different type of hot spot to this jig which will get the attention of any fish.

one of my many popper plug I use wood golf tee,s as head and body. I tie it with just enough dressing and legs where it sits with head just out of water and body at angle
short twitches make legs move drawing strikes and can pop it like a regular popper. I'm old------er and disabled and don't get to fish as much as I would like. but maybe I can find a retired fishing buddy so my wife won't worry so much because I can't swim if I wanted to. thanks for letting me share with you.papa NC wishing you well

the strangest fly fishing lures that works great for me I use true turn hooks, tail of choice Walmart thin craft foam sheets.cut and glue fish shape around hook.permenent markers for color. treat with epoxy or finger nail polish. when cast lays on top water and give it short tugs stop repeating. it's a dying minnow most fish can't hardly reject. use different sizes from pan fish to large mouth bass will strike them.papa wishing you well

Cheech, maybe wear a lighter shirt next time. Kinda hard to see the fly your tying wearing a black shirt. But great tie, I think ?

Cheech I use UV resin on peacock hurl and here is why. I fish fir shellcracker (red ear) here in north Alabama and I have a pattern where I utilize peacock hurl for the the body. I found over the years that after two or three big shellcracker their strong jaws and teeth tear up the peacock hurl. So....I started putting a thin coat of uv gel which makes the jig more durable but allows the color to come through. Ya....I know it is a sin to out uv gel over peacock hurl but in my case and my pattern it is the ticket....go ahead and chew me out!

I’ll bet you….. that you could take herl off that fly altogether and it would still work great.

I could but I have a endless supply of peacock hurl from one of my friends who has about 50 peacock. I know one thing....other then their feathers they are loud annoying critters. He has ginney hens as well. Both if thise birds are better then watch dogs. I am just glad I don't live near him because those birds are loud and annoying. I will bet....no I know I have more peacock hurl then fly fish food.....bet me a 1000.....trust me you would lose!

We're turning into bead fishermen. I know we don't want to get skunked, and I'll fish squirmy's any time I feel like it. But it seems insect imitations these days are wearing crash helmets. Those poor trout losing teeth on a 4.5mm tungsten bead... Dayum, just giving PETA more ammo to fling at us.

There are no rules in fly tying, put resin on what you want. Experiments drive innovation and the next change in the path.
