- We launch a weather balloon and try to reach it before it lands. We thought it would be interesting to see how hard it is to launch a high altitude balloon and understand why there is such a buzz around the Chinese Spy Balloons.

@@JjJj-bq7le I see that she was with these guys shooting the flame throwers. That MORR video showing Lizzy doing all the stuff had a short clip of her shooting the flame thrower. I assume that was from these guys most recent video, even though she wasnt in it.

I didn't know you could buy and lauch your own weather balloons! Now I need to find a friend with a Ham Radio license. And someone with some cash...
There are other means of communication outside HAM radio, and you do need permission to launch due to air traffic in certain places. Fun fact, when a balloon reaches the limits of our atmosphere it flattens like a pancake and then explodes.

A few years ago, Killem used a balloon to send a Big Mac into space, and then he ate it, if you all get to feeling extra adventurous someday. (Just kidding, I wouldn't want to be the blame for one of you getting sick). 😂

Put a cap on when moving that tank of helium. Always be safe with tanks always secure them especially if they don’t have a cap on.
This channel is a distillation of activities that would get a person immediately arrested in my country.

Years ago while on a transmitter hunt. We found the weather data radio of a weather balloon it was in middle of a thick forest. about 12' up in a tree. But was sending enough of a signal still that it was interfering with a 430 MHZ hidden transmitter. I may still have a part or two of that tiny transmitter as we were gonna retune it and use it as a hidden t radio.
Don't forget to plan something in October. The eclipse is coming through Utah
That's some fun stuff. You're on the with temp on elevation gain. We'd go to 10,000 feet skydiving and the temp would be 40 degrees lower at altitude on a 'hop and pop" on the last sunset jump of the day. I think a skydive is in your future to prove me wrong.

This is my favorite video of yours yet. I loved the montage of you all killing time. The project was also very cool. A little more going into detail about how you set up the instrument racks/payload would be cool for the next launch vid.
Now, can you build a SAM to shoot down your own Balloon? I figure you'll need a oit 600 Estes model rockets to test first. I recommend you watch (most likely re-watch) a movie from the 80s called "The Gate"
