    • @LucidEyes17
      @LucidEyes17 4 years ago +27

      It probably ricocheted off the balloon directly in front of it and skipped over the balloon it missed, after all, only the hooks are pointy, if the body of the lure itself hit the balloon in the right way it could simply skip right over it.

They're well aware that's going to cause a lot of damage using cheap and easy to find materials!

      Pens are surprisingly strong projectiles. As a teen, I'd get frustrated and vent by throwing smaller items that probably wouldn't break anything around the room to let off some steam -- the pen was one of them. Let's just say a well thrown pen can puncture some cheap plastic blinds that had some years on them =_=;; and that was with the cap on, so no pointy bit to help puncture anything - it made an almost perfect hole just barely wider than the pen's diameter in the middle of the blinds, punching straight through the plastic. And the pen used here had some more weight to it too, looking like it was metal or something instead of the much cheaper and lighter plastic one I used

    For those wondering how the one with fishing rod missed a balloon in between : the hook started slipping through the floor at one point and got through the side of the 'missed' balloon but poked through the rest.

    It's all because a pen, an arrow and a screw are all light weighted things helping them to have a longer reach. Also the higher you throw them, later they land.
    That's my thought 🤗

      It isn't actually related to their weight I think.
      In theory the horizontal motion of the objects do not interfere with the vertical motion of the objects. So no matter how much their mass is, and hence their weight is, their horizontal velocity is only reduced by the balloons.
      Of course, there is air resistance in real life, and I think having smaller air resistance (due to smaller surface area) is why the pen, the arrow, and the crew can fly the furthest.
      I guess having a smaller surface area (being sharp) also helps in poking holes in the balls.

    • @lackdejuranez7084
      @lackdejuranez7084 3 years ago

      I'm pretty sure it's the radius of these objects which enables them to get less viscous drag, resulting in longer reach.

      P = F/A = F/pi*r*r
      Decreasing the radius is much easier than increasing the force and radius has a bigger impact for increasingly the pressure (since radius is squared)
      That's why almost all objects showed in this video which went through a lot of balloons have a sharp top

    Fun fact: you can buy arrows with light-up knocks (the clampy bit that goes on the string).
    Also, I believe the "spitball" would be far more effective if you use a blow dart instead. And I also think an atlatl would be an interesting addition to your arsenal.

      An atlatl is a very owerful and accurate weapon if you use it right

      Honestly for this kind of thing I'd use a twisted tip. They spin and allow for slightly more accuracy when fired from a recurve bow. New age bows dong have to worry about the archers paradox nearly as much.

      Thes guys are Australian they would use the Australian Aboriginal version of an Atlatal called a woomera, much heavier, throws full sized hardwood spears rather than the light projectiles used with an atlatal

    When you have the scoreboard come down, you really should make it show the previous score then tick/count up to the new score. It's really a lot more satisfying, and once you do it once in FinalCut or whatever you use, you can literally copy paste it.

    Hey Gaunson, next time, aim up a little. The arrow would have started falling at balloon 4 or 5. If you aimed up about 5 to 10 degree's you may have ended up with more factoring in speed loss and drop of the arrow.

    They make LED nocks for arrows, would make an awesome effect and show up good on slow mo too. They light up when the arrow is shot, making them easier to retrieve. Very cool.

    extra points awarded for the skill needed to skip an arrow under a ballon and hit the ballon behind. Jack that was an awesome slowmo capture. great vid guys.

    the moment gaunson wasnt aiming farther up i knew it wouldnt do the job... i have a 40lbs recurve bow as welland a little higher prolly would have gotten like 3-4 more lol! Love the vids guys!!!

      @Stigstigster 4 years ago +1

      I also have a 40lbs recurve, a Bear Montana, and I believe with a shot at the right angle it is easily up to the job of getting them all and a fair few more I reckon.

    • @feuilletoniste
      @feuilletoniste 4 years ago +5

      I think he would have been better off keeping the scissors closed before throwing them - you get a much more stable, directional throw that way.

    • @smiledawg4194
      @smiledawg4194 4 years ago +2

      @feuilletoniste yeah kind of use the scissors the exact same way you would use a throwing knife.

    • @smiledawg4194
      @smiledawg4194 4 years ago +1

      @feuilletoniste but then again having them open means if they hit handle first the blade tips will still pop them.
