Well I'm a "Sigma Male" after I saw a video about that personality type. It fits me like a glove, I checked all the boxes of a Sigma. I've never fit into the Alpha or Beta man category. I know the Philippines is a very friendly place and they enjoy large families, many festivals and karaoke parties. That really not my cup of tea as a Sigma. So I'm reevaluated if retiring in the Phil's is the best option for me. I enjoy being single and a loner, yet I don't feel lonely and I do have a SMALL group of friends.
its strange how all Peas simps claimed to be a sigma male after her video 😂😂😂
@@QueenBeeStacker Well I know I'm no SIMP. I've lived happily alone this past 15 years since my divorce. It's one thing to SAY you are a Sigma, it's a whole different ballgame to actually live it. SIMP'S are going to be truly "miserable" living the Sigma lifestyle. Nothing wrong with SIMP if that's who you are. But I would be TRULY "miserable" living that lifestyle.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the same way about being single. I don't need a huge circle of friends nor a woman to make me feel complete. If the right woman comes along, I may change my opinion.🏝🇵🇭
@@ragjamrock I agree 100%. Always wise to keep your options open. But it's not very wise in my opinion to be desperate for love. That's when BIG mistakes can and do happen!
hahaha
Loneliness is not a big deal if you are a loner.😂
depends
I've been a loner since 2010. I'm getting lonely now 😅
I hang at the Loner's Lounge.
I relate
Well, I was married for 22 years and have been single now for 15 years. I enjoyed parts of my marriage especially my 2 boys. BUT I do find being single now far better for me. Maybe it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's been working well for me as a Sigma Male.
I think being single is the way to go if you are under 70. At 77 I do not want the aggravation and stress of standing in lines, being out of AC , searching for what I need, getting lost, driving etc. etc. I came to the Philippines not for the Philippines but for a stunning 47-year-old Filipina who acts and looks 27. I do not have to do anything unless I want to. The first thing I bought was a generator and a hot water heater. Our top priority is making love every day. Not living like a King, but the LIFE OF RILEY
Your doing very good
Good to see you two having your priorities straight and aligned.
@@gregwil694 Thanks Greg. in life Attitude Is Everything.
@@grandpapeteswordsofwisdom7114 Agreed
Do you have to own the home in order to install a generator and hot water heater?
The most enjoyable thing about being in the Philippines is not worrying about the politics at home inAustralia which is really going to the pack. Feel just too old to worry any more. The Philippines certainly allows one to think about other things, god and bad, but different. A change is as good as a holiday.
Thanks Boris
As a widower for several years, I have learned to live on my own and accept my life now. I have no plans to seek a Filipina girlfriend or enter into a long relationship with one. I recently returned from a 3 weeks stay in Thailand and now planning a trip to the Philippines. I enjoy the freedom of traveling where and when I want and I have become accustomed to living this way. My purpose of traveling is to see different countries and experience the various cultures. I don't go on dating sites and or have anyone waiting for me when I arrive in a country. Every traveler is different with different agendas. I respect everyone and I travel for the experiences. Keep up your great and informative videos, Mike. Best regards.

@azspeedster5465 enjoy being single if that's make you happy, nothing wrong with that, it's better than having someone who is fake and just for your money.
I've only had 1 reason to marry a Filipina. When I sell my house I'll have about a $15k income tax bill. If I marry by Dec 31 in the year of sale I get a $500k cap gain exclusion instead of $250k so no $15k tax. But I could just marry some random old woman and give he a few hundred dollars. Plenty of Filipina down with that. Take some pictures together and you're good to go.
Zero reason to get married for real in PH. So many White Knights can't wait to marry a single mom and start giving her money.
sure
@@mikesphilippineretirement There is a lot of truth to what this guy says about marriage. But some men just aren't happy living alone so I can see them getting married. But as for me I've been very comfortable living alone for 15 years since my divorce. But I think it's a mistake to not even consider marriage if I meet a really terrific women in the Phil's when i retire there.
hey how long were you single ? im not asking jSully

I'm 59 retired and getting ready to make Asia my home. I love Daveo and CDO . Visited Asia several times, my adult daughter is Filipina and American and love the culture.
My advice is to focus on the good: the glass being half full. Stay away from negative frequency people and surround yourself with positive vibration and frequency people.
You got good vibes and love your channel. 👍
Ps. Bring a notepad or use your phone and start documenting average prices for everything. Filipinos are very friendly. Make some friends and they will give you the 411on cost. They will help you get a fair deal. Or hire or pay a friend to be a price guide!
Big item purchasing? Bring your friends and let them do the talking and then swoop in and pay for what you want---best
Lonely ? Find a church, gym, Some hobbies, and or buy a puppy. 🐶🐾
Thank you Mike you're not the only ex-pat vlogger that has offered that same advice to a single guy like me, heck I've been a bachelor for 24 years now...🙏🏻
Sometimes I wonder if there's even a woman out there for me @ 62...😮🎉

Retired expat from the US livjng in Thailand six years.
Havs a great Thai Wife.
Life is great. Havent missed the US for a moment. Would NEVER go back to the US. Ugh!!
great life in Thailand good for you
I plan on listening to what Filipinos pay and then going up and paying that same amount and not a penny more or I’ll just walk away until I find someone who treats me fairly and that’s who I’ll stick with every time I go to the market. I don’t need 20 sellers if I can get what I need from 6 or 7.
Pay for play is the way to go in the Philippines. That’s the best way to enjoy your retirement.
for some
Sounds like all of the rest of the world. Oh wait ...

You can live like over stay road he lives on a shoe string budget has two kids and a beautiful wife take lessons from him.
no thank you. They have a good life shoe string is not for me sorry
"That's why I don't meet Filipino women online. I want to see them for real. I'm just planning to stay for 6 months or a year at the end of this year and go island hopping in the Philippines."

Boots on the ground is a good plan. Meet them when you’re ready, not after a long flight and you are weary and maybe frazzled and might get a lil overwhelmed at first.
@@mikesphilippineretirement YEAP! for now. I will feel it when to make a commitment. No woman hopping for me..😅
@EricvanDorp007 good for you sir, enjoy your stay
@@gemmaleandado Just want to make a good woman and here family happy for the rest of my life. If we all stick to budget, the rest will be no problem. I am going to the Philippines to hopefully find what I cannot find in the Netherlands. Thanks for the kind words.
When I was in Olongapo/Subic back in the 80s and a vendor told me 100 pesos I always said that I can get it from guy down the street for 75 and I’d usually get it at that price even though I never spoke to anyone else, and by the way, your channel is the BEST place to go to learn about the visa, licenses, etc 👍👍
thank you so much Ted
I was there before and I think being single is GREAT. There's nothing like it. There's nobody to answer to and you call all the shots. But I can say this because I was stationed there for 3 years. I know the lay of the land 🤨

Mike I worked for a Korean company teaching English in Cebu 3 months out of the year...I did that several years...and enjoyed the teaching job...met alot of different men and woman..some were good people some were not..noticed alot of woman worked very hard ...and cared for their families.....some wanted to be my gf ...others did not...but one thing i will say is living the Philippines is one of the best things to do...l learned a lot of these things as a single man...I have been in relationships ..heck I thought I was getting married...but she cheated on me when I went home to process her papers...but overall I am planning on returning to Cebu ..CDO... Bohol... dumaguete..and sigijour island....not crazy about Manila...and planning on staying....men have no idea being a foreigner with money in the Philippines how people will treat them different and finding the right girl is better there than back in the USA
Mike - you can be alone but not lonely. Having a female around can be an encumbrance (and costly). No reason fellows can't employ help around the house and make sure they are ok. They can also hire female 'company' - then wave goodbye hhahahah.
is all that cheaper than a good wife?
@@mikesphilippineretirement I reckon so. Also having someone around limits freedom of movement. Up to you.
DO NOT get handcuffed at the airport. She'll have twenty family waiting and they'll lock you into a relationship from the get go and there's no escape 😅
Home sick is missing the Philippines believe me once you come to the Philippines it's home. I miss the people their and the kids and my wife's side of the family. And going swimming each day being able to walk 25 feet and in the ocean where they live and going to the city and seeing everyone. They home is where the heart is and home is definitely the Philippines. ❤❤
So true!
I was going to comment the same. The Philippines is home. I don't feel homesick to the US at all. Sure, I miss family, but we communicate weekly, so it's all good.
@Synfulz that's why we have video chat we still see them. So no reason to be home sick we are retired and enjoying the rest of our days on this earth after we busted our butt's for years how many other guys you watch retired and they were in great mood last few weeks at work 😆
Single and ready to mingle salamat lol 🤣
Mingle often. Hahaha
Everyone loves a good haggle. I remember haggling over the price of a fake Rolex in Penang. We got it down to a difference between us of 50cents. Neither of us would flinch and a crowd had gathered to watch who would win. We agreed to toss a coin for the final price and the crowd cheered as it concluded. Yes I won.
why dont all of yall go to the jail an interview ,paul i think the an get the truth from him ,,,when he was back home he was talking about yall like a red headed step child ,,,,he chant post in there go get the scoup ,,,
He is not getting scammed , definitely he is a willing participant. His biggest issue is himself ,. He is lonely and in a rut in his life and is basically paying for a fantasy . He definitely needs to get his life together until he does he is a prime target for a real scammer to get her hooks into him
Learning how to deal with life, in the Philippines, can sometimes be fun. I love to learn new things, and it’s almost a daily thing. Even with my Wife showing me things. We grow as we learn
We grow as we learn. Love that
For folks buying stuff at markets and stuff like that over here try to keep this in the back of your head. There are tons and i mean tons of chinese rip off products here. Don't have labels on the look like all professional listening when you get them you'll find out the stuff falls apart and two weeks or something. So just keep that in the back of your mind.

When in the Philippines you have to stop thinking in dollars or euros and start thinking in pesos. $6 for a towel may not be so much in the States, but p300 for a towel is extravigant in the Philippines. In the beginning it might be better to shop in malls and supermarkets, where everything is priced. That way you avoid skin tax and when you buy at the market as a more experienced foreigner you will know when you are being had.
Correct 💯👌
Paying a little extra is no big deal as you grow and learn about life in the Philippines
Single and free is the way to be - Team Ace
Mike don't feel bad about getting ripped off on the towels.Something similar happen to me too! It is actually fun dealing it reminds me a maxwell street back in chicago
Hahaha
I can't even IMAGINE not coming alone. I'm going to come over there in a few years and spend at least 18 months traveling around and figuring out where I want my permanent base to be. Only then will I start worrying about meeting a girl.
My plan too. These guy who get online, can't wait to start sending money. Get picked up at the airport and driven to her town and there he is forever. Crazy.
I doubt PH is even my top pick. Malaysia looks better. Maybe Baguio.
Place first, woman later.
@@waterbug1135 Amen, brother! I'm going to visit about 8-10 places in the PH for about a month and a half each. Then maybe two places in Vietnam, 2 in Thailand, and possibly Bali too. I'll pick my favorite from all those.
A good rule to follow is give yourself 2 years before doing anything of significance. No living with a woman, no marriage or acquiring anything. Live free and easy till you figure out how things work. Too many people end up going back home within this time period so by taking at least two years, you avoid major catastrophes. As for women, if she will stick around for 2 years, odds are she isn’t going anywhere.
@@GBU61 That might be the wisest advice I've seen yet!
i don’t think you can bargain at high end places.
ooo shit are you getting a divorce lets get that started in duuuuum a getttty lol
Being single in the Philippines sounds like an adventure. I like an adventure.
It is and can be a great adventure
Excellent video, Mike, thanks. I was surprised how many people did go out of their way to help me when I first got to the Philippines. Totally got scammed a few times but learned to build a little cost buffer. Haggling over a few pesos isn't always worth the heartburn.
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing
I go to the gym so I can walk in nature
Thanks for this advice vlog. To sum it up, aloneness isn’t akin to loneliness. Especially in the Philippines. 🇵🇭
Thanks for the insight Stanley
Boredom = loneliness. Boring people crave a partner to add some meaning to their life.
Living monk mode is not for everyone. Thankfully there's much better options in the Philippines. And who's gonna take care of you when you get old?
55 and that's me to a T , ready for Pi🤙
A woman 2 days a week is enough for me 3 or 4 girls a year is ok maybe in different countries If u find the right girl, marriage is always an option I am not sure it is option number 1.
Hi Mike and Janet ❤️.. Ready to come for more pH experience 😀 So So ready!!! Missing you guys. Thanks for another great video.
Our pleasure!
I always enjoy your channel Mike. Will be there end of this month to meet my Filipina and find a place to settle this old body while enjoying the beauty of the country. 7600 islands, I dont have left to explore. It willbtake 20 plus years to visit those islands if you do it an island a day. This body doesn't have 20 plus years left. Keep posting good content, I enjoy it very much.
Thank you
I have had my wife and her relatives save me from scams more than once, because they knew the proper price and spoke up for me.
Family is good and happy you can count on them
Life is full of learning experiences and going and checking out the Philippines is a chance to take. Sometimes its fear holding people back and you have to get past that and say I'm going to do it, and go. Some will like the decision they make ,others may not, but at least they tried. Thanks for another video Mike. I'm seeing its been super hot there now so you and Janet Take Care.
