Bob was wrong here but: 1) never move in a girlfriend or have them quit their job, especially if they have a kid. 2) stop sponsoring girlfriends whole life situation 3) maximum stay time in your place is 24-48 hours and don't let them leave anything major at your place. The rules change after marriage but this is the new standard moving forward with this law. We go there to retire/ peace and little responsibility, stop becoming their whole support system/ placing undue burden on yourself

I’ve known a few guys who left the country because they couldn’t find an amicable way to end a dating relationship. Emotions are very high in the Philippines. For me I took many months getting a lay of the emotional landscape and knowing the Phillipines laws and differences from the US before I got into anything. That was a very wise decision on my part. Jumping into a relationship right off the plane is real danger. For me I say there are only two speeds to my daring, slow and stop. I personally would never ask anyone to move in with me unless I was truly ready to settle down and i had spent YEARS knowing a Filipina AND her family. I’m a cautious mature guy. It seems Bob learned his lesson. I don’t think he’s a bad guy. He just changed his mind. I appreciate you being objective Mike. Just think about it, their previous president Duterte didn't execute seven thousand "drug pushers" at night in less than 7 months leaving their bloodied mess on the streets the following morning, without the help from hundreds or thousands of maybe hardcore killers within their law-enforcement, military institutions and for-hire in the general population. They could feel safe in large cities in the northern islands and if they get a lawyer right away but idk if in remote middle and southern islands. The Philippines, surrounded by water can easily make anyone disappear without a trace and not have to worry about some foreign embassy getting in the way of their justice.

As a 55-year-old Ohioan, still married to a Russian woman (25 years) who has been a better mother than a wife overall, I find all this requiring too much energy and risk for me to do. If anything, I would like to find a cheaper place to move to so that my retirement money can go further. America is getting too expensive to handle on the medical end. I plan to stay married to my wife; we have both given each other the best years of our lives, and although no marriage is perfect, I will stay with her to the end. She was an excellent mother who homeschooled our daughter, who became a US military flight surgeon. She is actually more intelligent than I am in books and worldly experiences, and I have found myself going to her for strength and support throughout our marriage. Although she is not the beautiful woman she once was, I found that I need her for other reasons besides physical companionship. She manages all the money and looks after me and my health. I can't get up and leave all of that, guys. She has done too many things correctly as a mother that trump all other things that men usually place high importance on. I dated my gf for 3 years in the Philippines before we got married in the USA. Now over 11 years later being married, she’s perfect for me. When Bob moved, he took her & her child with him, he was obligated to take care of them. When he got angry, he should have asked her to move back to Moms home but also offer a sum of support she would need. Anger made Bob make the wrong choice. Can you imagine how the child felt ? Very good advice. As a man who has experiened divorce in the U.S. I learned it is always best to walk away peacefully after having the talk and be ready to accept your losses. In other words, always have an emergency backup plan in case things don't workout. But be a gentleman by never hurting nor putting your ex in a bad position regardless of her actions. That way no one can ever say that you did something wrong.

Why is this so hard to understand? You are in another culture and you get involved with a women that is trying to live a better life whether she has children on not. I just ended a relationship with a Filipina 4 days after arriving from the Philippines. It got so bad few weeks before my anticipated return to the US. She was screaming and yelling at her kids including myself from morning till bedtime and repeated the next day. She has stubborn undisciplined children perhaps due to absence of father figure. I realized that I wasnt ready to share my space and relinquish my independence living alone. I have many more plans in my 70+ years such as travelling within the US on my travel trailer. Wish I hadnt bought a home, I could live like a nomad on my travel trailer visiting different national parks and camping. Im done with kids dont need any headache. Im sorry I broke up unexpectedly from her but I have no choice when I observed I didnt want her kids in my household and her constant nagging. Glad had a chancr to observe all that during our 3 months together. It was ugly living to me.

Guys not understanding the law is huge. Guys you open yourselves up to liability the minute you enter into a live in agreement. Kids involved absolutely insane decision making by this guy… This wouldn’t be legal in the states, residency rights apply after a certain amount of time. You have to legally evict them. I feel for the 10 year old. Talk about pulling the rug out from under this kid. Pretty crappy thing to do to provide some stability in the kids life, likely the only real home she has known and to know exactly where she will go back to…boarding house…completely immature decision making. 6 months of support and rent paid. 3,000 usd and you don’t end up a Filipino Jail.
Bob now knows his mistake that cost him was due to the way he evicted his girlfriend and her daughter. He could have dealt with this in a different and calmer way and got agreement by paying the plane tickets and maybe 30k pesos. I think the humid heat can cause us to think irrationally sometimes, when you're back home on home soil later it all seems like a gripe about nothing much. But all in all he had to cough up 130k or 140k pesos, it still is not a lot to regain your freedom. Peso is so small, people often make the old mistake and think tens of thousand of pesos as tens of thousands of dollars. Peso is only 2 cents. The whole cost of settling the complaint was only less than $2,500 or £2,000, I would gladly give that amount up not to spend any time in a Philippines jail and get the hell out of the country. I can be a "hot head" too and definitely have encountered times where I would love to kick up a fuss and cause a scene if I have been seriously wronged, but I think first and manage to keep a lid on it and stop the fuse from blowing. Saved me grief and money, wasted money maybe but the thousands of Pesos are no big deal at the end of the day

I'm married to a filipina, and she quotes this act with me. I bet Philippine men are hardly ever charged with this. But if you're a foreigner, they will throw the book at you.

Great video! But you forgot to mention - perhaps you didn't know - that the Bureau of Immigration will pick up on this within 30 days, if they haven't already. And they will revoke his VISA based on this charge. Now if the charge gets dropped he may have a chance getting his VISA back. But if the charge sticks - even if he's made full restitution - his VISA will most likely be revoked and he'll be ordered to leave country and put on a blacklist. I'm familiar with a couple cases like this. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Thing is - we can’t on the one hand think “I want a traditional woman who will stay home, not working and just concentrate on looking after the house, me, and staying beautiful”… and on the other hand think “we’ve split, she can look after herself.”

Bob is a selfish bastard no matter what country he's in. The police were more than fair initially. And just so you know, bail is non refundable there. He has more lessons to learn trust me. The grass only looks greener from the other side of the fence. All these "options" he thought he had will no longer be available. Bob uprooted the girl from her job (a precious commodity there) and will have a really hard time finding another partner except for the ones who will stay long enough to drain his funds.provided he has any left. As a 55-year-old Ohioan, still married to a Russian woman (25 years) who has been a better mother than a wife overall, I find all this requiring too much energy and risk for me to do. If anything, I would like to find a cheaper place to move to so that my retirement money can go further. America is getting too expensive to handle on the medical end. I plan to stay married to my wife; we have both given each other the best years of our lives, and although no marriage is perfect, I will stay with her to the end. She was an excellent mother who homeschooled our daughter, who became a US military flight surgeon. She is actually more intelligent than I am in books and worldly experiences, and I have found myself going to her for strength and support throughout our marriage. Although she is not the beautiful woman she once was, I found that I need her for other reasons besides physical companionship. She manages all the money and looks after me and my health. I can't get up and leave all of that, guys. She has done too many things correctly as a mother that trump all other things that men usually place high importance on. When Bob moved, he took her & her child with him, he was obligated to take care of them. When he got angry, he should have asked her to move back to Moms home but also offer a sum of support she would need. Anger made Bob make the wrong choice. Can you imagine how the child felt ? Very good advice. As a man who has experiened divorce in the U.S. I learned it is always best to walk away peacefully after having the talk and be ready to accept your losses. In other words, always have an emergency backup plan in case things don't workout. But be a gentleman by never hurting nor putting your ex in a bad position regardless of her actions. That way no one can ever say that you did something wrong.

Why is this so hard to understand? You are in another culture and you get involved with a women that is trying to live a better life whether she has children on not. You are an upgrade with the ability to make her life better. Then you ask her to move in with you and give up a job that is paying her bills. You ask her to quit her job and devote all of her time to you. Then after a period of time you change your mind for whatever reason. She thinks she owns you, she cheats, she asks for to much money, and you just want to move on. You owe it to her to at least bring her back to where she was when she met you. Yeah it costs you 100,000 pesos or more. You have the money so just chalk it up to experience and move on. Its so simple.

I just ended a relationship with a Filipina 4 days after arriving from the Philippines. It got so bad few weeks before my anticipated return to the US. She was screaming and yelling at her kids including myself from morning till bedtime and repeated the next day. She has stubborn undisciplined children perhaps due to absence of father figure. I realized that I wasnt ready to share my space and relinquish my independence living alone. I have many more plans in my 70+ years such as travelling within the US on my travel trailer. Wish I hadnt bought a home, I could live like a nomad on my travel trailer visiting different national parks and camping. Im done with kids dont need any headache. Im sorry I broke up unexpectedly from her but I have no choice when I observed I didnt want her kids in my household and her constant nagging. Glad had a chancr to observe all that during our 3 months together. It was ugly living to me.

i met a philippine girl in china, after a while she quit her job and moved in with me, soon after that I saw this tempo thing ( temper ) it was tealy really bad, after a year my life was hell, I couldn't take it anymore, I tried to break up with her, it was uncomfortable, first I helped her find another job, it was in a different area, I gave her money, helped with transportation, kept in touch with her, the job didn't work out, she was in need again, I welcomed her back, repeated the process, again it didn't work out, I welcomed her back again. next she found an American in America that invited her to I've with and marry him ( poor guy ). i helped her, took care of her, everything I could until she left. this time I didn't hear from her again. i could not kick a woman out onto the street like bob did, he should be ashamed of himself, bob is a dog, jail, prison, and deportation for bob, horrible man

Guys you open yourselves up to liability the minute you enter into a live in agreement. Kids involved absolutely insane decision making by this guy… This wouldn’t be legal in the states, residency rights apply after a certain amount of time. You have to legally evict them.
I feel for the 10 year old. Talk about pulling the rug out from under this kid. Pretty crappy thing to do to provide some stability in the kids life, likely the only real home she has known and to know exactly where she will go back to…boarding house…completely immature decision making.

Bob now knows his mistake that cost him was due to the way he evicted his girlfriend and her daughter.
He could have dealt with this in a different and calmer way and got agreement by paying the plane tickets and maybe 30k pesos.
I think the humid heat can cause us to think irrationally sometimes, when you're back home on home soil later it all seems like a gripe about nothing much.
But all in all he had to cough up 130k or 140k pesos, it still is not a lot to regain your freedom.
Peso is so small, people often make the old mistake and think tens of thousand of pesos as tens of thousands of dollars. Peso is only 2 cents.
The whole cost of settling the complaint was only less than $2,500 or £2,000, I would gladly give that amount up not to spend any time in a Philippines jail and get the hell out of the country.
I can be a "hot head" too and definitely have encountered times where I would love to kick up a fuss and cause a scene if I have been seriously wronged, but I think first and manage to keep a lid on it and stop the fuse from blowing.
Saved me grief and money, wasted money maybe but the thousands of Pesos are no big deal at the end of the day

Great video! But you forgot to mention - perhaps you didn't know - that the Bureau of Immigration will pick up on this within 30 days, if they haven't already. And they will revoke his VISA based on this charge. Now if the charge gets dropped he may have a chance getting his VISA back. But if the charge sticks - even if he's made full restitution - his VISA will most likely be revoked and he'll be ordered to leave country and put on a blacklist. I'm familiar with a couple cases like this. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
