  • The RIDGID R860435 18V Heat Gun is easy to operate and it performs very well. You get the heat gun itself and 2 additional tips in the box. This is a very handy tool for working in and around vehicles. Using this for heat shrink is a much safer option than using an open flame. The heat gun has a trigger lock that keeps the heat gun "On" without the need to hold it. Also, the rear of the tool at the head and the base are flat. This allows you to lay the tool on it's spine with the tip pointing up. Perfect for doing wiring jobs in a car. You can get this at the Home Depot for $119. #ridgidpowertools #heatgun #tools

Bought the Ryobi version 2 years ago. And love it. I’ll be getting this Ridgid and look to sell the Ryobi.

Really great review here! I agree with your assessment on the typical use cases.
I've had the Ryobi version for a few years. It has the typical similarities seen between TTi brands and includes identical accessories. It claims 875° not 900 and lacks the trigger lock, though the battery gonna die in minutes using a trigger lock..
I use it all the time, mainly for wire heat shrink in the field. Everything else I use it for I would not do with my basic corded unit which is too powerful even on low. Getting stickers and decals off of walls, cars , jars, cans boxes etc; heating up aerosol cans in the field to get the full contents out of them; using delicate PVC battery-type shrink wrapping which melts and tears with corded heat gun.
My only issue with these is the pricing. Unlike brushless cordless tools, these work like any other twenty dollar corded heat gun, w/ a brushed DC motor fan blowing over hot nichrome wire. They should be half the price!

I got this heat gun and I sincerely think my blow dryer produces hotter heat then this crappy heat gun. Its super light and the battery gets stuck on it every single time and I have to bang it on something to get it out. Very disappointed.

Ur cute. Also, shame to hear about the heat gun. I wouldn't mind this in my car while skiing.
