If you like cacti and need to move one. Use two pieces of styrofoam to hold the cactus to repot it or move it safely without getting injured by the spines. A more practical idea.
A little quick runthrough for those of you who don't have time to watch this: 1. Make napalm, slowly 2. Glue a gnome to some cardboard. 3. Glue your tools to a plank using napalm. 4. Smash some drywall with a strange custom spinning trident. 5. Glue some screw cap to a screw, and put some sandpaper on it. 6. Use this to awkwardly sand an old hammer. 7. Sharpen a piece of pipe, and use it to drill holes in a belt. Aaaaand we're done. Good work. Thumbs up.
I have to say you made me giggle, and I have no idea why. I just like the way your mind works. Lol I was over here like wtf is the purpose...how the heck you gonna caulk something now... 1. At first I thought he was getting ready for round two in nam... 2. Then realized he just wanted to see if any of us were stupid enough to think that tiny 3/4 inch of sandpaper would not be smooth as a babys fresh kissed bottom in half a nano second.. 3. But maybe the truth is he is about to go gi-jopsycho and the napalm is gonna take out half his city block and he intends to prove he has an iq of less than 75 and use it as his defence... like i am not smart enough to be accountable for making the mapalm that offed the block... 4. Here look I even glued my gluing gun to a bord that was sad and alone... 5. Then the glue gun got sad and the tape measure went over to lend peer support 6. Something must be done for these minority tools from 3 subgroups of the tool family. 7. The blacksheeps if you will. No one likes that hammer he is a bully always hitting on stuff. 8. That glue calk gun ..well, you can not get rid of his ass. Just run away when you see him coming unless you have 6 hours to talk about your digestive system being plugged up... 9. That poor little tape measure ...noone likes him because he just measures himself against everyone else, making excuses 1/8 inch at a time. It is just not fair. You got glued to the board, rendering yourself absolutely useless. I want to be useless this time. 10. It is the saddest of situations. Someone give them a hug. Set some therapy appointments and go lay in a toolbox talking about how the other tools do not want to be your friend. 11. Go tell the teacher the screwdriver said you're stuck on stupid, and your glue looks like it could use some time in the shop on that bench grinder.
I found that if you do the exact same thing but with Cheetos you get the typical yellowish wood glue that is great for gluing your sandwich to the kitchen table!
I always put Styrofoam in acetone for the purpose of making a moldable plastic. I never really thought of it as a glue. Once you turn it into a thick goop, the thicker the better, much thicker than what you showed, then you can mold it into a shape and you have a plastic... Whatever you wanted.
It's pretty tough as a mould idk what this guy doing just seen similar things that I do and clicked it but haven't watched it but hey anybody as cool as me deserves a view lol
I watch a lot of stand up comedy, but this is by far the funniest video on RUclips. Also standing ovation for all the hilarious comments. Thanks everybody, I haven't laughed this hard in a very long time! I really needed this.
The dead pan delivery left me... ... Dead. Well played, though. I kind of think he thinks a call gun and tape measure glued to a board after spending an hour making glue instead of buying it at the $1.25 store.
If nothing else, I like the idea that dissolving Styrofoam in acetone will mean that Styrofoam doesn't take up so much space in my trash can. I'd imagine you should probably do that in a well ventilated area. Being able to use it as glue is just a bonus.
Guess I should have read the comments first. I have spent the past 3 days trying to dissolve styrofoam in water and was wondering what I was doing wrong. I tried several types of styrofoam and adjusting the pressure applied during insertion. Finally, I came to the comments section to find the hidden secret and luckily I got my tape measure and caulk gun applied to a plank of wood. Not sure how I would have accomplished that without this very helpful video!
You may have missed the point. You're supposed to glue your friends tools to a piece of wood. Plus I cut holes in a wall using M80s, much cleaner and faster!
I'm still having trouble dissolving the styrofoam because I'm not fully understanding the part where he is sanding the hammer. Does the hammer need to be rusted like this for the styrofoam to dissolve fully? Maybe I need to rust my hammer more before I try again.
Had me wondering why. I was waiting for the story with this styrofoam glue. No test of the glue, how long to dry? Is it strong? The guy is a stooge. You can buy a whole rang of various sandpaper velcro discs and the drill attachment from Ali Express. For cheap and less dicking around.
Well i glued my car keys,my reading glasses and my wifes false teeth to a board...This is just best hack i've seen in years and the missus loves gluing stuff to boards aswell...Like i have always said, A family that glues together, Stays together..Happy glueing everyone.
Things just don't disappear. What happens to the gas that's formed after dissolving the Styrofoam? And the sludge (glue) you create? Is that actually safe?

Rumors have it that not only is Styrofoam being dipped in to a glass jar of acetone the sanded hammer has been glued to his board of handyman tools of Genious ideas lol
@@robertmclaren9620 I've been using the wrong brand of sandpaper. I need to know what brand he used to get that much shine from a nickel size piece of sandpaper!
It has to be real acetone and the right kind of styrofoam. I rember melting Styrofoam with hairspray as a kid. My aunt had one of those Styrofoam wig heads, once she sprayed the wig with hairspray, some fell on the head and created little holes, that got the gears in my brain spinning. So when she wasn't around i took the head and used hairspray to turn it into a pretty cool skull (melted the nose and eyes and lips), my aunt however was not amused when i showed her what i had done to the "wig head".
I was doing the polystyrene dissolve thing on youtube , 20 yrs ago. It doesn't work as a glue , but it makes a good ' art and craft clear ' when dissolved in automotive or general purpose thinners . It turns clear in the jar, and flows like a paint. When it dries, it's rock hard and clear, like acrylic ( DVD CASES etc. are polystyrene in it's unfoamed form). I took it off youtube, because the fumes were nasty !
It may have just been misplaced. Surely there is a hole saw somewhere in there. Although, I have an automobile but no wheels thanks to a large product recall. I still have the tyres, as well.
@@liverbird46 Nah it's hot glue. Ya can see the big piece of hot glue hangin out the back of the gun. Unless he molded it like a big piece of hot glue but I doubt it 🤷♂

Making that hot brass cap a dangerous projectile too! The glue melts and cap flies into your car windshield or dogs or your eye.. unlimited destructive possibilities!
I am glad I wasn't the only one confounded by gluing the tools to the board. Why would you? I love all these videos with a "simple" hack for something but you need an entire tool shop to create the product. Happy New Year Everyone! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Exactly. And if he's got all those tools to make a hole drill bit and a sanding drill bit, why doesn't he just get a hole drill bit and a sanding drill bit and get it over with??
Love the creativeness of all these projects. Teaches a person to think outside of the box. We can always reuses stuff that is hanging around instead of going out and just buying what we think we need for a one time project we want to do. Good job.
Cool, reduces landfill and environmental plastic pollution, saves birds ingesting the bubbles of styrofoam. If you make it thick enough, can you cast things with it, like flowerpots, models etc? Will silicon or oiled surface do to turn out such casts?
Or you could just buy some glue, a hole saw, and a sanding disc for a little more than the price of that acetone. And it'd save you a ton of time so you can work on a more useful project.
Seriously. Did we have to see every single piece of styrofoam be but in the glass? This is why I never learn anything unless the video is straight to the point. 🙄
Who among us hasn't desperately needed to glue your tools to the wall? I don't know about you but id be lying if i said I also felt the urge to stretch the time needed to achieve completion at least 200 x. This is obviously about as good as a method as one could shoot for. Only way I see to improve is by crafting the tools to glue up before. If your really wild, build a dedicated tool gluing wall to make it the ultimate way to waste a week of your life. While making sure you'll never have access to said tools again. Can't wait for thr sequel.
Attention all you glue creators. What I'd like to know is: 1) How strong is that glue? 2) Is it like contact cement (instant adhesion)? 3) Will it glue anything to anything? Are there certain materials this glue doesn't work on and if so, what are they?
@@chase-2200 THANK YOU Chasem for your reply. I've handled lots of Styrofoam, but never in my wildest dream did I ever think to make glue out of it. It never ceases to amaze how some people can think of such things. They must have a very creative mind, which obviously, I don't.

I have used this stuff for years for electrical insulation on bare wires where there is chafing and the insulation has been removed from abrasion . Good stuff
I'm just a crafter but the title of this video caught my attention. What was the point of gluing those things to a board? If it was to show how strong the glue was then fair enough. But showing some practical ways that could help people would have been better. Also, to me it would be quicker, easier, less effort to just go out and buy the bit that makes a nice clean cut hole. (from Australia)
Was good for a few laughs, especially the thumbs up after gluing the tools to the plank. I was wondering though, given the fumes from acetone give me a headache, what kind of fumes do you have when you add the Styrofoam?
Acetone is not that expensive! Try shopping around, it's about £2 a litre here, and he used about 200ml. But you are right, these are not great hacks! Hot glue to hold on sandpaper, that gets hot and a hole saw that rips things apart, that cost peanuts to buy.

@@Raphael-2 Yes, however, France is surrounded by many exporters. United States of America has to get their things from a long distance ocean freighter. France also has a president that is a lot more likeable than the American president. Emmanual Macron is also fluent in French and English. This makes him his own diplomat, to an extent. The American president likely only speaks a dialect of English, probably not the correct King's English. That will automatically make President Macron more likeable to foreign exporters, and therefore France more likeable to foreign exporters. The American government also has an extremely bad habit, since about the 1970s, of trying to run other nations more than they run their own nation. This does not look very favourable to other nations. Exporters would likely charge the Americans more than what they charge other nations. Sadly, this puts the American citizens at a horrible disadvantage. They are being punished for poor decisions their government makes. It does not seem as if their votes even work. After you inhale all those fumes from the acetone and styro, you'll be thinking you're actually doing something useful gluing all your tools to the wall...
Painted my workbench with this mixture--well ventilated area-- impervious to most liquids spilled on it. Also easy to clean. Styrofoam is just aerated styrene plastic which returns to styrene when dissolved in acetone or other solvents like MEK. Good way to get rid of all those Omaha steak cartons!
If you're into miniature wargaming, styrofoam can be useful for making terrain (hills, buildings, etc). If only I knew of an efficient way to glue it together.

Why would you want to glue your caulking gun and tape to a board? You can purchase a hole saw and drill the holes in the sheetrock much faster and more reliably than the screw tool made in this video.
Thx for the comments I fast forwarded this. Ok- am I understanding that acetone & styrofoam makes E-6000 glue? Acetone breaks down a multitude of fibers into a putty like substance, but I didn’t know it also made adhesive properties. Not the smartest idea gluing tools to a board, I hope that was just to show tensile strength. I liked the file hack, but why didn’t he use the glue that he made? Glue from a glue gun isn’t the strongest bond. He shined the hammer up nicely, although Navel Jelly would’ve bn faster. The belt holes- 2 days ago, I just had to drill holes thru thick material for a costume & couldn’t find my leather hole punch tool, so I used a self-drilling screw; it worked fine. I used a screwdriver after just to make the holes clean. So, I guess learning styrofoam & acetone makes a strong glue wasn’t a complete waste of time. Wear a mask, reinvent styrofoam to glue & help save the planet bc styrofoam can’t be recycled & doesn’t breakdown in the earth. **Although in Germany, we used a special bag for certain recycling & styrofoam was allowed. Idk y it’s not accepted here in the States. (ADHD- now I hv to research it). Happy random video watching. ❤

Why would you glue your tools to a board?? If the glue/sludge stuff works, awesome, but I’m confused as to why sticking all my tools to something is a good idea.
You can also get some large thick flat styrofoam leftovers and put them around the inside of a cooler to keep drinks cold without spending alot of electricity on refigerator and freezer
I've tried this one many time but... Acetone doesn’t desolve styrofoam this way, insted of this it creates a slime type material that is not even too much sticky.
You need something like toluene. It does not dissolve in polar solvents. Plus, it is not a particularly good glue. Honestly, this is worse than 5-minute-crafts. I don't believe for a second that hot-glue would hold that brass screwcap and the piece of sandpaper on under actual usage conditions. 🙄
Well, in grade school the science teacher showed us this saying that Styrofoam was so bad for the environment when burned. CFC's or something kills the ozone. But she didn't say what to do with the liquid other than throw it away. Learn something everyday. Don't burn the glue. Lol I wonder if that Chemical Change reduced CFCs making Styrofoam liquid safer to burn? I know the acetone made it easier to ignite.
Dude was legit trying to show us why we need save our Styrofoam starts his sales pitch then makes a squirrel line for all the other glues. That's a real special ADD moment right there. 🤣
curious if this glue could be used to make molds if the item is sprayed with liquid silicone first. Also wondering if it could be mixed into airdry clay? im thinking about the cosplay foam clay lmao. the ideas happening in my brain right now.
That's pretty amazing how the overall level keeps going down as if it's decreasing in volume as you continue adding more styrofoam and I bet that was completely unexpected
Oh wow, the first idea is the best one in the whole video, why didnt i think of that one? I used acetone to dissolve the styrofoam, but i used the resulting glue, to permanently glue 3 screens onto my SSL 4000 G mixing desk. Now i just have to figure out, how to carve out some space for the ventilation for the desk. When there's a will, there's a way. Great video!
Don't be fooled, the polystyrene foam is not being dissolved, it's just being reduced. The gases are being released into the air, and by the time the solution is super thick, the volume would have been raised about 10 %.
4:01 instead of a hard metal hexagonal Bolt head try it with a base made out of hard rubber like tires are made out of as that way your sandpaper should last longer and it conforms to the surface you're trying to clean a lot easier and the both will work fine but you should have an intermediate layer of hard rubber between the bolt head and the Sandpaper
Acetone is a colorless solvent that can dissolve or break down other materials. It is also a natural byproduct of fat breakdown in the body, which can lead to ketosis or poisoning.

What is the purpose? I’m so confused? Who needs tools glued to a board?
A little quick runthrough for those of you who don't have time to watch this:
1. Make napalm, slowly
5. Then the glue gun got sad and the tape measure went over to lend peer support

I always put Styrofoam in acetone for the purpose of making a moldable plastic. I never really thought of it as a glue. Once you turn it into a thick goop, the thicker the better, much thicker than what you showed, then you can mold it into a shape and you have a plastic... Whatever you wanted.

The American government also has an extremely bad habit, since about the 1970s, of trying to run other nations more than they run their own nation. 🙄
So it's not true then?
@@barnabyvonrudal1 I'd say it isn't. I suppose the parts would be flying all over the place as soon as the power drill turns on.
Turpentine?
NEVER THROW AWAY STYROFOAM.....IT MAKES FOR THE WORLD'S STICKIEST CLICKBAIT...THIS BATCH CAUGHT OVER 6 MILLION VIEWS !!!
EXCELLENT COMMENT. Best one yet. I will giggle about your comment off and on all day long. Loved it.
Instead of acetone, soak it in gasoline. And instead of making glue, make napalm. 👍
I came here to say this……..
Napalm. Now there's a useful product!.
Well, in grade school the science teacher showed us this saying that Styrofoam was so bad for the environment when burned. CFC's or something kills the ozone. But she didn't say what to do with the liquid other than throw it away. Learn something everyday. Don't burn the glue. Lol
I wonder if that Chemical Change reduced CFCs making Styrofoam liquid safer to burn? I know the acetone made it easier to ignite.
Hola. Nunca lo hice por eso te consulto ¿Es una reacción exotérmica? Gracias Abrazo
I was so high after the acetone poor, i glued my mum to the ceiling, along with all my tools.............ow,and the cat.
Dude was legit trying to show us why we need save our Styrofoam starts his sales pitch then makes a squirrel line for all the other glues. That's a real special ADD moment right there. 🤣
I know it's only 8 minutes... but I want it back.
Your 8 minutes have been sent to China ! ... NO REFUNDS !
curious if this glue could be used to make molds if the item is sprayed with liquid silicone first. Also wondering if it could be mixed into airdry clay? im thinking about the cosplay foam clay lmao. the ideas happening in my brain right now.
Interesting, to what purpose does a caulk gun and a tape measure glued to a piece of wood serve? Please tell!
My heart was in my throat when I saw that drinking glass full of acetone! Guess I’ve trained with WHMIS rules too often.
Spoiler alert. This video is a waste of your time😃
That's pretty amazing how the overall level keeps going down as if it's decreasing in volume as you continue adding more styrofoam and I bet that was completely unexpected
I think a lot of the volume is lost as energy through the reaction that’s why the level keeps going down as he adds more
heyyyy joseph, what is the liquid, please ?? vodka ?? please give me an answer, thanks, greetings from bavaria, wolfe...😮😮😮
Cool. I am going to buy some styrofoam to try this out. Does it release any harmful vapours?
You know what's funny is that the mass stays the same no matter how much styrofoam you add to the solution 😂😂
The volume you mean??
Yep the volume I mean
That we can see 😜
cause its mostly air trapped inside foam bubbles, DUH
Don't be fooled, the polystyrene foam is not being dissolved, it's just being reduced. The gases are being released into the air, and by the time the solution is super thick, the volume would have been raised about 10 %.
4:01 instead of a hard metal hexagonal Bolt head try it with a base made out of hard rubber like tires are made out of as that way your sandpaper should last longer and it conforms to the surface you're trying to clean a lot easier and the both will work fine but you should have an intermediate layer of hard rubber between the bolt head and the Sandpaper
The one cool thing from this video .. was that pass-through wrench! Definitely cool!
I thought the same!
Right? I thought, why aren't they all made like that?
Also, why aren't all screws, hex head, they don't strip as easily as phillips head.
Acetone is a colorless solvent that can dissolve or break down other materials. It is also a natural byproduct of fat breakdown in the body, which can lead to ketosis or poisoning.
Watched the entire video to see what contraption dude was building that will make use of the styrofoam glue. Turns out, they were just separate ideas that had nothing to do with styrofoam. LOL!
