This thing is great for drywall patches, spot texturing or priming, also if you have a bunch of paints, you can dab a sample on the wall to show the home owner and they always look at me amazed. Awesome job Milwaukee 👍🏻
I really enjoy you showing specific applications where this tool comes in handy for. A lot of people have videos where they just talk about the tool but you actually show it’s usage and it working. Great video 👍
For just drying paint films down, this would be indispensable in ladder work, generating matching of finishes, and sample generation. Not being dependent on an extension cord would be huge doing all this on far flung tasks around the job site and would augment your other heat gun setup well. (Having both systems in place is where the smart money is.) Bought one yesterday.....great advancement here for me anyways!! 👍
Doing heavy equipment washing/cleaning/detailing, have to remove decals somewhat frequently. This appeals to me, for the sake of not having to drag a cord through a muddy wash bay, and then clean the damn cord again when I'm done.
I don't get why people would want the variable heat. I mean sure the more options the better but I use it as an electrician and have never seen a need to turn anything down lower ? Just move it back a little from the item Ur trying to heat
If you're worried about overheating something or scorching it, the variable heat is a nice safeguard over just varying the distance. Most heat guns in this price range have the feature. You're right though, the same goal can be achieved with moving the gun back, unless you're working in really tight quarters.
I picked this up last week haven't had a chance to use it properly yet! Maybe for window tint applications or stickers it may be handy to vary the temperature.

I was also outside when I was working. I found out that they sell tips separately and thought that it was the dumbest shit. The concept is similar to a power wash nozzle .
Have you tried a heat shrink shield with it to concentrate the output around the ferrule? If you're using ROHS compliant parts, the lead free solder is probably part of the problem too, with its high melting point.
It's coming out soon, but after watching several of these Milwaukee videos I'm not so sure I want one. The Ryobi is $100 which is $30 less ridiculous than the Milwaukee but it really should cost around $40-$50 max, especially given that you can buy a corded heat gun for around $12 and it will perform much better.

Agreed - variable heat, a lock on trigger, and a higher air flow rate would be nice in a Gen 2. For niche users though, I'm sure this really comes in handy. I've found it really useful for one-off heat shrink applications that I don't want to be bothered to run a cord for.

I find it useful for heat shrink in places I would otherwise need an extension cord. A reflector attachment makes a world of difference too. But if wall power is available, corded is way better.

Because if I want to use it on something delicate, and get more than 17 minutes out of it, I'd want to dial it in right.
I don't know if they will fit the Milwaukee heat gun but Harbor Freight sells an accessory kit for $6.99 before coupon.

Single temp at 875°F. Should wotk for gaskets.

I think it's a little underpowered for that application. I haven't tried it myself though.
