Great video thanks brother. The old days put some shellac on it to hold it in place. I hated cleaning that off. Today we have the technology to get it done. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
Works beautifully on electrical connectors. Mainly GM neutral safety switches that are glued on, as stated, but also the one piece ignition coil on the GM 1.4 turbo on cruses and trax is glued on.
Porter Cable PC1500HG . On Amazon. Normally $29, sometimes on sale for $19.99 Same style as the tacklife, but has a rotating temp dial for granular temperature control. Pretty happy with the performance of mine.
I purchased my first heat gun in 1998 and I still have it today runs like a top, I can't remember who makes it but I know it's in the basement somewhere, I've used it to heat frozen pipes under my kitchen also to take striping off of my Ford 1978 150
We have a powerful 2 speed one in the shop. Apart from the obvious uses, I’ve used it to fit bearings (where you can’t press or drive them in/on) apart from wheel bearings you only need about 130°C I’ve found, and they just drop on. Not gonna harm the grease at that temperature. (Use an infra red thermometer)
Oh I totally agree! They’re so damn helpful! My business builds and repairs technology and we use our heat gun daily....so darn helpful. I have a corded porter cable that’s been excellent and it was only like $35. Eventually I’ll pickup the Dewalt cordless but that’ll mainly be for on site stuff. Really enjoy your videos, thanks for your hard work brotha
i'm here coz i bought one super discounted (i'm a bit of a tool lover) and i then realized that i've no clue what to actually do with that , guy doesnt mention it but i found it interesting you could also use it to heat a freezed water pipe if it get really cold in your place.
The 4L60 prndl switch connectors stick because the resin from inside the prndl switch melts and oozes out past the pins gluing the connector in. I get around messing with them by taking the switch off of the shift shaft with the connector still plugged in and just tie it close to the frame out of the way.
Yes, heating up plastic components will give them greater flexibility and avoid breaking them, especially older plastics which naturally loose their flexibility over time. On the automotive side, your vehicle is littered with hundreds of electrical connector fittings that have that little plastic locking tab on the side that you need to pull back with your finger, screw driver or pick to unlock and release it. When they are old an cold your almost guaranteed to snap a few. Warm them up before you pry it open and warm it up again before you push the fittings together again.
Master Appliance makes a good heat gun as well, put in cold mode before shutting it off after use.Heat guns also are a great help getting dents out of plastic bumper covers.Heat the area up good going back and forth, pushing the dent out.Heat guns also are great for removing bumper stickers also new and used car dealer stickers on metal and plastic.Don't do this on glass, the glass will shatter
Great video heat up tool (DON'T WANT TO USE THE GUN WORD OOPS USED IT) these tools has a WIDE RANGE of use not only in the shop but around the house as well.Once again keep those videos coming and have a GROOVY weekend.PEACE
I popped a dent out of my neighbors Honda Accord rear bumper. He touched a crash pop and dent was there a few minutes of heating and doing the Eric O. epic reach around and some light pressure dent b gone
I've used boiling water to get stubborn hose ends on when repairing garden hoses. Bet this will work better. Will a heat gun work to melt plastic from milk jugs over a stepping stone to make a mold?
I made the mistake of buying a cordless heat gun :/ Update. I just want to add that the cordless gun does work I just expected a little more for the cost. but then again its hard to compare an 18 volt heat gun to a 110 volt heat gun.
I bought yesterday corded one. In the shop they wanted to sell me cordless HG. Thanks to heaven I was good with physics at school and participated in state competitions. I knew that heat gun needs a lot of power so cordless is a waste of money if you need to do lots of work like removing paint from a window. If you need bend a single plastic pipe than it is ok.
I'm with everyone else on the HF heat gun.. Theyre on clearance for $9.99.. Just grabbed one because I am going to make a pvc recurve bow project with it.
To compare a long term financial net present value, can you provide the use life of each tool in months so I run price per purchase term or repurchase as it died/broke on a 45 year work life until retirement and or hobby play?
Spent $20 on a harbor freight heat gun when it was on sale from $30 and it's been great. Lots of heat settings and the cords been long enough for everything i've needed to get to
How is the Milwaukee compared to the plug in one? Obviously I know Milwaukee won’t last as long but it must be as good or better in some instances . Great vid
Great video! I have another problem that I need to remove the door weatherstripping, was a little concerned but you’ve alleviated my anxiety. Thank you for all the great tips, now I can justify keeping it.
I think I paid $15 or so years ago at HF with accessories and case. Never thought about heating up a vacuum line to remove it. Great tip!

A versatile tool for sure. Since owning a heat gun I have found many uses for it (as you mentioned). Thanks.
I got mine from harbor freight for around $10, lasted 12 years, bought another for under $15 and had it ever since ,
Paid 20 dollars for a corder Milwaukee heat gun at home depot when I was 17, still works perfect today 14 years later.
Since I just barely started school to become an automotive technician. These videos have been really useful
You forgot about using a heat gun to warm electronics if you suspect failure from heat. ignition modules come to mind.
Right!, I had success recreating intermittent failure of CKP sensors with it.
And load bank for generator.
Great video thanks brother. The old days put some shellac on it to hold it in place. I hated cleaning that off. Today we have the technology to get it done. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
Warming Aluminium Gearbox casings when installing new bearing cones.
Inner door membranes, too warm the adhesive
Works beautifully on electrical connectors. Mainly GM neutral safety switches that are glued on, as stated, but also the one piece ignition coil on the GM 1.4 turbo on cruses and trax is glued on.
They are great for taking adhesives out .

I'm using my $30 wagner 750 - 1,000 (f) heat gun to melt the plastic injected u joints on my Chevy truck. It's a slow process, but it works.

Make removing decals very easy but don't get too close.
You can get a nice porter-cable heat gun off Amazon for as cheap as $20. Best one I have owned yet!
I think I saw that one for 20 ish on amazon. I’m still not sure I need such a tool for creating art. I just can’t decide. Thanks for this review.

Plus eventually it will be the only thing RUclips will let you have a video of with the word gun in it.
Kinda surprised this video is still monetized🤣🤣🤣

Also if you cut a larger plastic bottle to shrink wrap glass jars to make them less likely to break and be safer.

You should make a video on stories about accidents that happens in the shop or accidents that you have seen happen...just a suggestion
Thumps up for not wasting money

The Milwaukee is ok, the heat and fan are not as powerful as the corded, but the advantage is you don't need a plug to use it
