Some notes: 1) Found toe warmers in my console in the morning. LOL. Oh well. 2) I don't have a carbon monoxide alarm... the topper is full of air leaks/gaps. It's FINE. 3) I prefer HOT ROCKS, warmed in a fire, stashed in wool socks for warming my feet. Without a fire, no hot rocks. 4) I've never tried a hot water bottle, but neither hot rocks or water bottle would last more than 2-3 hours. (I've tested hot rocks for weeks on end in much warmer temps.) 5) The tailgate and glass stay open at night. I can lock my wooden doors. 6) The side windows OPEN in case of emergency. 7) I don't plan on adding any more insulation or building anything permanent in the truck. 8) I'm not worried about sasquatch or dog man. 9) The coldest I've experienced living in Alaska was a few days at -60 F. Not camping weather. But neither is -17. LOL THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!
Love to go camping with you Brooke! And to watch you build stuff is so satisfying. I love doing things that are constructive like your projects! We bought 5 acres on a lake here . No home on it yet...prices of everything is too high! I miss a home...ours burned last year and took everything with it, no insurance. My animals all died in there. So when I watch you create homey places, it gives me hope....thanks for that Brooke❤️
Cold feet winter camping you say. Here's a tip. Boil some water and put it in a Nalgene before you go to bed. Toss it in your bag and send it towards your feet for the night. Then, when you wake up during the night thirsty, take a sip of warm water. In the morning you hydrated and supplemented your feet comfort all in one. I've done this a bunch. Take care.
As a country girl who lives way back in the woods, I get a lot of great tips & ideas for various projects from your channel... I love that you publicly show your love for the Lord & pray before every meal. Peace & Love from Georgia, USA.
I’m 62 and inspired by you, so I spent 3 nights on our creek in north Texas. 27 degrees... 3 dog night and only had one. Tent camping and loved every minute of it. On the 4th day a cattle roundup. 6th generation cattle rancher. Life is good and God provides!
Brooke, I live in a caravan. When you're back home, cut some cardboard to fit in the window frames (under the curtains) It really makes a difference. Flat & easy to store 💜
I'd say making a window covering out of "Reflectix" would be the best, like van campers use for their black out/sun shield/cold shield, for the big van windows. Only down side to me is not seeing out, but that is good for night, inside privacy, tho.
When my ex and I drove our little Honda to Pennsylvania from Al. Our heater was useless. We were all (me,ex and 2 kids) were so cold. His friend told us to put a cardboard in front of our radiator. It made such a difference and we were able to drive our car in comfort.
Loved the fact that she said she was looking forward to facing what lies ahead. It's always refreshing to see videos of people doing what they like without the need to complain about it. As no one complains about doing things that they're choosing to do, because their heart is actually in it. Plus the genuine random experiences that come with all the adventures that arise .......is priceless!
Glad you were able to stay warm in such cold temps! Thank you for praying over your food and for the viewers. It means more than you can know! God bless you all.
My dad was a traveling salesman in the 1960's in Michigan, and he used a slide in pick-up truck camper to cover the upper and lower parts of the state. He talked about cold weather like that, and blizzard conditions, and I sensed he really loved it. Many of the businesses he called on, were surprised to see him in such bad weather, so he usually made good sales, because I imagine they would feel some guilt if they wouldn't support someone who was willing to brave such terrible weather conditions to keep them well supplied. You have to remember that those times were much different than today.
I know this is years after you did this, but, I am living vicariously through you in hopes for my years of solo camping after retirement. Thank you sooooo much for your inspiration.
I had to pause your video to thank you for your prayer to people you don't even know. I'm going through the darkest time of my life right now, but I have hope and joy in knowing there are good people out there! I love your enthusiasm and excitement in your videos. I enjoy watching you and your husbands content! Thank you for documenting y'alls adventures! I know it is a simple thing to say, but your prayer when you were eating your chilly mac really encouraged me! Thank you!
Brook, I've been away from your channel for a while (forgot to check in!) and forgot how precious you are and what a joy you are to watch. I have to say you are one of the most lovable people I've ever "met". Such joy in you and such a trooper! Glad to be back watching you again. Take care of those digits!
Oh Wow! I used to live in the UP on the Great Lake Superior and remember shoveling out every morning before going to work 30 miles away in my VW bus - The Blue Goose! The UP is so special.
Thanks for your prayer ! From across the lake Huron east from you in Ontario ! Prayer works I feel it ! We need it now ! You' all stay safe ! Love Michigan !
We use those little packets from the hardware that you can put in your pockets, mitts, or boots to warm up our hands or feet. Kudos to you for hanging in there. I probably would have bailed. You are one tough cookie!!2🙌
I’m a Michigan girl, and you had me tearing up over those falls! I am not able to hike like that any more. So beautiful. I love your sense of adventure and your joy really shines through. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Brooke. Love your channel. When Mom & I used to go camping, she would be cold at night. I made pouches out of washcloths to hold 2 hand, foot or body warmers (which ever ones I could get). Then about 30 to 60 minutes before bed I would activate the warmers, and put them in the pouches. I’d put one at the bottom of the sleeping bag for her feet, one about half way up and one up where her shoulders would be. This helped Mom stay warm for most of the night. Just thought this might help you be warmer in your topper.
~~~ My WONDERFUL friend ,, I stayed with you all the way throughout the video...I care about your safety...Thank you for having us disabled VETERANS come with you by way of your camera...GOD'S JOY be with you ...🙏..
-25 is as cold as I ever camped and I hope I never have to camp below 45 degrees ever again. I'm old and the cold camping days are long gone I hope. I'll just watch people like you who still cold camp.
I loved this . What a cozy little camper space you have created . I love watching your videos Brook . I live in the Canadian Maritimes . I have physical limitations and require a wheelchair , but I have started solo camping , and I am having a ball . I use a tent that I am able to drive my wheelchair right in to . Doctors were treating my chronic pain , that I was left with after damage from bone tumors , with heavy narcotics for over twenty years . So I basically slept through those 20 years of my life , but I don't take any of them anymore , and I am treating my pain myself now in other ways and I started trying to do more things . I'm not very "able" so what we do is my adult sons come and set up my tent for me and then they leave me to do my camping on my own and I am having so much fun . Thanks so much for inspiring me . Please keep posting your adventures . They are wonderful to watch and may inspire more women to get outdoors and try things 😀
This is my first time watching your channel. I must say you are a very brave young woman to be out and about camping in such extreme cold weather. May God continue to bless and protect you as you continue your life’s journey.
Love your swinging doors. So much more civilized. I lived in truck for years with various kinds of makeshift heat like little buddy. Then 4 months ago I finally sprung for a real furnace. Propex thermostat controlled fully vented propane heater. All exhaust goes out through the floor. Only clean dry heat pumped inside my cap. Set the thermostat (say 45°) and it turns on and off as needed throughout the night. TOTALLY CHANGED MY LIFE! No more struggle to stay warm and no more frost and condensation. Just push the on button and you are comfy warm. Can't recommend it enough and can't believe I waited so long to get it.
Thank you for the prayer. God's timing never ceases to amaze me. Thank you so much for your videos. I know what I'm binge watching tonight. Sending thanks and prayers as well from Wilsonville Oregon. God bless!
I felt the cold watching you! Great endurance, you. Hope you are warmer now. With your next build, don't forget to add insulation to the floor. It helps! A couple of insulated removable window covers help A LOT, too. Beautiful build, beautiful journey, and beautiful woman. Thank you for inspiring us and sharing.
Brooke my girlfriend was given a pair of heated socks for Christmas so when she goes out to tend to her horse in the winter was the idea she wouldn't freeze as much. I had no clue such a thing was available and she says they are amazing. So maybe worth looking into. For some reason in the first video with the camper build I thought you had a little bigger space heater beside the pottie but I must have missed properly what it was. However ok jeepers -17 below that was brutal cold so you did amazing. It still looks cozy and a safe place to be. Thank you for taking us on the walk to the Falls holy they are beautiful. hugs
Congratulations on being selected to represent Alaska, Brooke! Very cool! I’m freezing just watching you. My feet are frozen right now too, and I’m in my 70 degree house!! I ALWAYS have cold hands and feet 🥶 - so annoying! I used to tent camp in the snow in the White Mountains, but NEVER at 8 below…you are one tough cookie! ❤️😁
70° and hands feet freezing? Signs of 1) poor circulation 2) core temp getting low Remedy 1) stand up walk around if unable to stand chair exercises arm movements and leg movements drink more water warm herbal teas 2) long pants socks long sleeved turtle necked shirts or sweaters cover your head try fingerless gloves it's what my doctor is always telling me. ATB.
OMG Brooke -17F! Holy catfish that is so 🥶! I'm glad you got through the night. The truck camper is so sweet. The water fall was so beautiful. Be safe out there.
Sooooo grateful to see you drive responsibly. I have lived in snow country for over 60 years. Not all snow is the same. Other influencers scare the crap out of me. Good job!👏👏👏👏 Have a great trip!
I’m basically living in the back of my pick-up like that. All propane needs to be warmed up first. Also, fan would be good to circulate the heat from the Buddy Heater (maybe the next size up would help for your heating needs). The biggest problem with propane is moisture. So if you have wood in your truck it might get moldy. I also have two sleeping bags. My Coleman is rated for -40 F. But that’s too much now as I get hot in it. Now I use the lighter one. It makes a difference that my truck is insulated like a home though. Lastly, having an extra pair of inserts can be used just as and for slippers. Some of the stuff you’ve done here I’ve been doing for seven years now. 🙂
My record is -8F. I slept under a tarp. I'm perfectly happy if I never break that record. I've camped below 0 one other time, several times in single digits, several in the teens, and a bunch in the 20s. For my feet, I use those toasty toes or even hand warmers between 2 layers of socks. One trick that also helps me is to pull the toe of my socks a couple of inches away from the ends of my toes. That little extra air space makes a lot of difference. Congrats on your record!!
I just wanted to say thank you so much Brooke for your prayer, it touched my heart, you did a great job and I love the canvas roof it looks so pretty and clean. You definitely inspire me and I really appreciate how real you are, also I have to have my earrings, lol. God bless
Brooke, you are amazing! I love the way you face challenges in such a positive way. You always keep it real and that's just one of the reasons I admire you so. Stay warm! 🥶
I just found you an hour or so ago, and I’m already loving your channel. When you prayed before your meal, this surprised me, and there were some tears. I felt like I found a new friend. Thank you!
Well done young lady, that was a freezing night to be in the back of a truck at those temperatures. Well done and thanks for sharing, stunning waterfalls at the end of the vid.
I concur, a couple of rubber hot water bottles- one for hands/body, one for feet, filled with near boiling water, should help to keep you toasty for a few hours! Another fab video, Brooke. You really are tough andso brave spending time alone out there. I suppose I’m just a wimp!! 😆
I Love what you did with your truck and have a couple of suggestions. You could put a hot water bottle in the foot of your sleeping bag to keep your feet warm all night and definitely need to make some insulated panels for those windows. Brave girl to sleep in that cold! I have renauds also so I totally understand how it feels.
So nice to to hear your prayer. Nice for your thankful heart and your intercession for your viewers. May God continue to bless you and provide you with continued strength, means and patience to travel as a free individual in our country. 🙏👍😉😊
Updated: I just happened to see your channel, and others similar channels recently, and I think that you, and others sharing their actual reality, and some have expressed some of the up, and down sides to van, RV, or vehicle living. I believe that it is very helpful, and beneficial to others who may be thinking about this type of living without actually thinking through, about the some of the realistic problems that could occur with vehicle or van living etc. People need to know what up sides there are, as well as some of the down sides of vehicle living. Brooke, Another tip to help evenly warn the camper. Next time bring a medium size pot, fill it with water and then just boil the water. Don't take it off the burner. The boiling water creates humidity and humidity covers then entire camper all at once warming the place up. I learned this back in the 70s when we lost electric due to a snow storm and dad pulled out his propane stove and "cooked" to large pots of water and it warmed the place up pretty quickly.
@@mikehagan4320 So being frozen in temps of 17 below is more preferable to you than a bit of moisture in the back of the truck? We'll look for your "found footage" video after you've been discovered frozen to death looking like Jack Nicholson at the end of The Shining.
@@llorylloyd This is not a technique to be used daily. Just when needed. And condensation will be dry by the time this is needed again. Unless Brooke does this kind of thing daily.
Thank you so much for taking us along on your first field trip!!! You truly are an inspiration . . so happy and smiling even when it's 17 below 🥶 We already knew you were the best content creator on RUclips . . Congratulations on representing Alaska 👍👏♥😉!!!
When I was 20 years younger a friend and I tent camped in the snow at Mt. Hood, Oregon. And I found out that the batteries that we were using quit working at -22°! So fun! And thank you for the memories!
I’ve been watching you for years and I just want you to know that you are such an inspiration and I’ve learned so much from you. You are one of the influencers who taught me what I need to know about living tiny (especially during the Winter!). My tiny Home is a custom converted Horse Trailer & I love this Life. Thank-you. Oh! (and I always pray with you). :)
Wonderful to be out in your cozy camper, good insulation test for sure.. cannot wait to be out camping again, in the meantime living vicariously thru this ☺️ Lovely week to you and yours 🌼🌺🌼
Well, Brooke you made my teeth chatter just watching you so I had to pause and go sit by my woodstove to warm up for the rest. Your cozy custom camper is adorable and the falls were spectacular. You Rock!!
We spent our coldest night winter camping a few qeeks ago. We were in a portable ice shack on a remote pond in the North Maine Woods. It was about 10 below zero with wind gusts of 50mph. It was a wild night but we survived! Thank God for our buddy heater and Teton sleeping bag. We know a bit of how you felt! I love love love your truck camper. 🥰You are so creative.
I used the same thing for the ceiling in the cabin my husband built for me last year. Inexpensive and looks great, we used strips of wood to emulate beams and plenty of insulation above it. Great job on the truck, looks like fun! :) God bless you!
Ahhhh. The beautiful UP!! Love everything about the UP. You definitely have to LOVE winter to enjoy it up there. The scenery, the wildlife, snow capped trees, quiet roads, and the whole embiance. It's a little piece of HEAVEN, on Earth. ❤️ 8- below? No problem! Us Michiganders are used to this! Glad you came through my state! The Wolverine state. Proud to be a Michigander. ❤️
Thanks for taking us along on this awesome adventure! Beautiful country too. As a grandma living in AZ, I most probably will never experience something this cool so I appreciate you sharing with us! 🥰
Are you just surviving in this life or are you living? I love that even though it was soo cold you still hiked to see the falls!! So beautiful! Thank you for the view!
Hi Brooke, I check on your channel every now and then. Love your new truck, much better than a tent. I love watching you because your life is so much different than mine,or i would never want to camp or be in the wilderness,but I am fascinated by you and others who are brave enough to live like that. May the dear Lord always protect and keep you safe. When I hear about how cold it is there I am glad I am in Arizona where it is in the mid to upper 80s today 3/24/22.
Under the driver seat there should be a heat vent for the back seat. Maybe you could rig a heat vent to go from there to the back of the truck to keep it a more comfortable temperature while driving so it’s easier to keep a livable temp once you settle in. Or get a grizzly stove.
Hey Brooke thank you for giving us the tour on the cabin on the truck lol. It's absolutely adorable and doable! Love it. Congratulations on getting picked by RUclips, how awesome, and thanks for taking us with you to see the beautiful falls. It means alot to some of us that don't get the chance to see many of God's beautiful blessings. You put yourself out in extremely cold temps for us and I appreciate ya girl. Safe travels and can't wait for your next video. May God bless your journey. 🙏❤
Thank you sweetheart for your prayer. It’s a joy to watch you, you are so clever and so natural please put more videos I follow you, I’m a senior that enjoys you tremendously. Thank you and God bless you while you enjoy life.
Great video, Brooke! Here's a little cold weather tip for you in that situation, something that happened to me. The door locks frozen and not even the key would work. Keep a small can of WD-40 with you that has the red spray tube. If your door locks freeze, simply insert the red tube into the key slot and spray. Immediately insert your key and the door should unlock. Want you safe!
It cold is an understatement. I'm sure the camper will be a great deal more fun and function when it isn't so insanely cold. Always a joy to watch your videos. Beautiful waterfalls! God bless. 🌻
Oooh man was it ever worth it! Literally brought tears to my eyes when you rounded that bend and we began to see the falls💙😍Thank you for taking one for the team and bringing us along.
The perfect camper made by the most amazing lady Brooke!! OMG, water falls is so beautiful. Stay safe Brooke and enjoy your class and have a safe return home. Big warm hugs coming your way!! Windsor, Ontario Canada👏
Thanks for the great video - you were a trooper, for sure! I think a bit of extra insulation here and there will help. Maybe a drop down curtain made from a moving blanket over the outside of the back end to cover up the doors would help a lot in keep draughts out. Rubber hot water bottles for your feet! In my truck camper conversion I built in one of those Chinese diesel heaters - works great! You can get an all in one unit that is portable that you could stand on the ground outside under the tailgate and have the duct pipe come up and attach to an inlet vent in the back wall. Main benefit is you can just leave it running all night - nice warm dry air. Being portable you could take it anywhere you want for heat. I’ve yet to make a video on mine but look up Keith Gee - he has a portable one he uses in his truck camper with good info on how to set it up. 👍🏻
You're such a trail-blazer Brooke !!!! Get out there ,Get cold, and Get happy !!!!! The choice to trust God and let Him lead you, is so darn inspiring , God bless you for being such a bright light shining out His glory Brooke. Next time take some of those hand/feet warmer things I see homesteaders using in the cold & snow. At least if your toes get cold , you'll be able to rewarm them enough for your sox and sleeping bag to maintain a warm blood flow. Also try to remember to keep your toes and feet moving inside the sox /boots etc, to keep blood moving. Putting feet INSIDE sleeping bag BEFORE they get cold will also help your poor circulation. If you already know all this and didn't do it , then you're def a silly sausage 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣You're absolutely the cheeriest cold camper I've ever seen 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I have the exact opposite...I have turned the A/C on directly on my over heating feet. Once my pain meds kick in again they will not be so exceedingly hot !!! All part of the back injury and nerve damage unfortunately but it could be so much worse so I'm not complaining(not out loud at least)!!!!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Bless you dear lady , you can't help but stir the enjoyment within me whenever I watch you enjoying Gods glorious nature He prepared for you and to share with us, esp ones like me, who thru injury etc can no longer live this kind of life but we can do it vicariously thru you and your adventures. I share Jesus , crucified & resurrected for each and every person , for the forgiveness of sin ,and a new life in the power of the Holy Spirit, over the internet, every opportunity I get. See, God wastes nothing ... .. even tho I can't be out & about touching lives with His glorious love, I can do it via the social networks that reach people all over the world. 👏👏👏We must all let His light burn bright wherever we are...just as you're doing as you travel and post it on YT. So happy I watched you today....biggest of hugs and love from the Land Down Under aka Australia 🇭🇲😍💞🙏🤗🙏💞✌👍🙏
So beautiful to see the waterfalls at 17 below zero. My husband and I camped at 17 below with a kerosene heater. His allergies were so bad from fumes we had to bug out.
Hello from Los Angeles, California. I'm new to your channel and I have to say that the prayer that you did at the beginning of your meal was soo touching to me because I'm going through it right now. Thank you for that I really needed to hear the things you had to say and I know that God got me. Thank you!!!
This lifelong Minnesotan lives in a van, but I’m snowbirding in AZ for the winter (3rd yr). As little winter camping as possible for me. It can be plenty cold enough in the desert. I’m pea green at how beautiful your truck camper turned out. I hope to get mine built out to feel more like home, soon. I’m excited to see what you share with us about your class on the North Shore. I worked up there a couple of summers ago. Blessed travel 🛻
I would like to get on board next winter. Don't want ro be in the cold anymore. I would come back in the summer.. 6 mos. out west and 6 mos in Ohio. Sound good?
@@debbiebolek2117, not sure what you’re asking, Debbie, just know that it is cold in the desert (relatively so) in the winter months and the wind is beastly and confining, at least in AZ. FL is hot and humid. Can’t speak to it personally, but they say CA has the best year round weather. Do you have a rig? If so, what type? A significant emergency and travel fund is necessary, as well as a way to generate income, and there are many ways to do this. Best wishes and safe travel😌
@@jillom397 Going on the road next year after I turn 65 and on Medicare.This way I will be insured. Don't have a rig yet. With gas prices the way they are, I'm investigating all my options. Keeping my home.back in Ohio for summer months here. Just wanted to know where to go for winter mos. Looks like California first. Just don't want the cold here in Ohio during winter mos. Ty for responding. Greatly appreciated!!
Hi Brooke, Amazon sells the same bag for $749. I really like your camper, you did a very nice job fixing it up. I'm surprised that Buddy heater didn't heat you out of there. I just bought the newest Mr. Heater called the BuddyFlex it heats 180 degree radius and has an attachment seprately sold you can cook on. I like it alot. You could store your fuel can in a very heavy wool sock and that may help on those cold days and nights. Thanks for sharing.
Lord above, I bet your toes were Cold 🥶🥶🥶 after the hike to the falls. Thanks for taking me along because there would of not been any way I would've volunteeringly done that on my own. Once again thanks for the adventure. God bless and thanks for the prayers
My goodness, you are unique woman i'd find it hard to believe there are many who would spend the night in the freezing cold like that. I enjoyed the vid. Be safe
Right on Brooke, I'll never complain when the lows are in the twenties here in northeast Texas sleeping in my hammock in the pines 😊 The upper peninsula Michigan is a beautiful place even in the winter I spent many a deer camp up there when I used to live in Michigan many years ago total blast it was. Looking forward to seeing your next video it always an amazing adventure with you. God bless Y'all and much peace and love from northeast Texas 🤠✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✨🧸✨
Love all of your builds! I think this one looks a bit like you are inside of a covered wagon when you are inside. So cool. Thanks for all of your content. Ive been watching for a long long time but rarely comment. Thanks for bringing us all along on your adventures.
It looks so awesome Brooke! I was telling someone at Walmart about your futon / bed truck camper, when I saw they had one of those futons in their shopping cart. LOL! We struck up a conversation because of you! 😆❤
I love what you’ve done with your truck. I’m always in a redo state of my camper van, and I think the build is more exciting than the camping (until I’m camping, then ya know….) when you build out your van (or this truck) install a diesel heater. I have friends who swear by them. I just love your spirit, and you bring so much joy to thousands of us who follow you. PS, I’m closing in on 72, and I’m no where near done yet!!!!
Wow you are a strong tuff gal! I never saw a woman put a tent up by yourself and it’s not a little tent. It’s a tent WTH furniture inside I just had to tell you. You are so amazing, stay safe and many blessings !
We went to Colorado with our black lab and stayed in the box/cab. We did pretty good until we hit lots of snow in the mountains. I think we ended up in a motel. It was fun tho! That was about 45 years ago. Keep on trucking Brook, great vid.
I’ve been wanting to build out a van for like a year now but haven’t had the right amount of funds and van options at the right time just yet so it’s still a dream that’s brewing, but someday. I love watching everyone’s builds for inspiration.
The falls amidst the snow were breathtaking. Thank you for bringing us there. You and Dave are my newfound pre occupation. I live in a tropical country and watching these cold camping is making me chill too, who needs an A/C now. Haha.
I tent camped at 16 and woke up with frost all on the inside of the tent...but it was a cool experience...pun intended, congrats this was fun to watch. Your truck build came out sooo pretty!! I think the cloth top will be better MOLD won't grow behind that cause it breathes. And a 12 volt electric blanket may be a good thing to have on hand..
Another great video but it did look miserable in the back before you had the heater working. One good lesson I learned is to keep your propane and gas in your truck while traveling to keep warm. The falls were beautiful with the steam and mist rising off the warm water. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Enjoyed watching your video. Well done on the inside of your truck camper. Glad you made it through the night in such cold temperatures and nothing happened. I was so happy your truck started the next morning. You are a brave soul going out by yourself. Being out in a desolate place, common sense would tell me to have someone with you. Stay safe and warm.
Thank you for showing that Beautiful waterfall! It's amazing how RUclips provides a platform for people like you can show someone like me(who can't travel to those places) Such Beauty in this world 🌎! Thank you both!
Thank you for sharing! I hope someday I can do something similar with an old beater truck. Your videos make me so happy because I love seeing winter scenery. I live in Southern CA, where we get about 10 actual winter-type days a season. I'm a fall/winter lover, and your channel transports me out of my hot, sunny reality to a place I'd otherwise not know.
Wow... what an adventure, Brooke!! 💚 Your topper truck is very cool (cold 🥶🥶🥶 at -17*😵💫😳) but I am sure you will put it to good use with more camping adventures...especially when it warms up a bit 😂🙌🌈 Stay safe, be well and see ya next time👋👋
You should add to your notes: To keep warm, pee in a bottle and put it next to your feet at night. If urge hits you at night, retrieve bottle and rewarm. For Women, please use the Shewee for better results. Brooke you are amazing and always love to watch you get into trouble. Stay warm, healthy and always remember to follow your nose!
I think this video is ( one of the best!) That walk to the falls and then the falls, just BREATHTAKING ! THANK YOU ! SOOO SORRY, you have that can't keep fingers or toes warm... 😞 I HATE BEING COLD ! 😊
... was snowed in at a hunt camp many years ago with a brother and Dad ,, in 3 straight days and nights gathered knee deep snow ,, closed all the access roads in the area ,, no thermometer but down to about -20 * high Western Rockies about 11,000ft.,,, and also in a hot tent so really no problem ,, except my brother was broke down on the back of another mountain a few miles away with no real gear ( he was out scouting an interesting area),, after the snow let up we went out to search for him ,, found and made makeshift repair to get back to base camp .... not a fan of winter camping without a hot tent .. did a lot of early spring and late fall outings to fish with set up in back of my truck ,, had one of those extra long Suburbans ,, took the back seat out and had a full size double bed mattress ,, but always had a propane heater along if it got too cold .. the older I get , I don't like being cold and wet ..... when the temps drop to cold feet time I put on the heavy calf high rag wool socks and down booties ,,, does the job nicely ....
Some notes:
1) Found toe warmers in my console in the morning. LOL. Oh well.
2) I don't have a carbon monoxide alarm... the topper is full of air leaks/gaps. It's FINE.
3) I prefer HOT ROCKS, warmed in a fire, stashed in wool socks for warming my feet. Without a fire, no hot rocks.
4) I've never tried a hot water bottle, but neither hot rocks or water bottle would last more than 2-3 hours. (I've tested hot rocks for weeks on end in much warmer temps.)
5) The tailgate and glass stay open at night. I can lock my wooden doors.
6) The side windows OPEN in case of emergency.
7) I don't plan on adding any more insulation or building anything permanent in the truck.
8) I'm not worried about sasquatch or dog man.
9) The coldest I've experienced living in Alaska was a few days at -60 F. Not camping weather. But neither is -17. LOL
THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!
Thanks for the updated information. Makes me feel better. Continue to enjoy your truck. ❤️
Love to go camping with you Brooke! And to watch you build stuff is so satisfying. I love doing things that are constructive like your projects! We bought 5 acres on a lake here . No home on it yet...prices of everything is too high! I miss a home...ours burned last year and took everything with it, no insurance. My animals all died in there. So when I watch you create homey places, it gives me hope....thanks for that Brooke❤️
I like the "hot rocks" and wool socks myself 👍👍
I think that bout covers it B! Inquiring minds needed to know!😀
Your a smart gal! ❤👍
Cold feet winter camping you say. Here's a tip. Boil some water and put it in a Nalgene before you go to bed. Toss it in your bag and send it towards your feet for the night. Then, when you wake up during the night thirsty, take a sip of warm water. In the morning you hydrated and supplemented your feet comfort all in one. I've done this a bunch. Take care.
Anybody reading this, shake the bottle and burp it. The vapor will cool a bit and pull a vacuum and not leak.
Thank you.💕I was thinking hot water that type of container. I have many ideas.
Great idea 💡
Great idea!!!❤️
As a person who just been through 1.5 years of chemo: Thank you for making me feel like I'm out on trips in cars & nature. 😊♥️🤗Love from Norway.
take care my freind!
Praying for you
Blessings to you. I watched "Lillehammer" and wished I could visit with a friend I have in your lovely country. May you live long and prosper.
Me too ~> I’m glad your a survivor too💯💯💯
Me too
As a country girl who lives way back in the woods, I get a lot of great tips & ideas for various projects from your channel... I love that you publicly show your love for the Lord & pray before every meal. Peace & Love from Georgia, USA.
I’m 62 and inspired by you, so I spent 3 nights on our creek in north Texas. 27 degrees... 3 dog night and only had one. Tent camping and loved every minute of it. On the 4th day a cattle roundup. 6th generation cattle rancher. Life is good and God provides!
Brooke, I live in a caravan. When you're back home, cut some cardboard to fit in the window frames (under the curtains) It really makes a difference. Flat & easy to store 💜
Definitely. Or those insulating panels you can purchase / make.
I'd say making a window covering out of "Reflectix" would be the best, like van campers use for their black out/sun shield/cold shield, for the big van windows. Only down side to me is not seeing out, but that is good for night, inside privacy, tho.
Adding reflectives helps too.
orrrrrrr just wait for it to warm up! LOL
When my ex and I drove our little Honda to Pennsylvania from Al. Our heater was useless. We were all (me,ex and 2 kids) were so cold. His friend told us to put a cardboard in front of our radiator. It made such a difference and we were able to drive our car in comfort.
Brooke, I’ve never seen anyone so happy to be freezing their butt off. You’re amazing. Hugs to Dave and thanks for the great video
bahahahah thanks
You girl are so adventurous and happy 😁!
Loved the fact that she said she was looking forward to facing what lies ahead. It's always refreshing to see videos of people doing what they like without the need to complain about it. As no one complains about doing things that they're choosing to do, because their heart is actually in it. Plus the genuine random experiences that come with all the adventures that arise .......is priceless!
Glad you were able to stay warm in such cold temps! Thank you for praying over your food and for the viewers. It means more than you can know! God bless you all.
My dad was a traveling salesman in the 1960's in Michigan, and he used a slide in pick-up truck camper to cover the upper and lower parts of the state. He talked about cold weather like that, and blizzard conditions, and I sensed he really loved it. Many of the businesses he called on, were surprised to see him in such bad weather, so he usually made good sales, because I imagine they would feel some guilt if they wouldn't support someone who was willing to brave such terrible weather conditions to keep them well supplied. You have to remember that those times were much different than today.
I’m betting he was a restaurant/Bar supplies salesman! Correct!!? That’s my gig for 30 years. Southern WI and a little into N. IL
I know this is years after you did this, but, I am living vicariously through you in hopes for my years of solo camping after retirement. Thank you sooooo much for your inspiration.
All the work you did on the truck camper is amazing. Great work Brooke. You show people what's possible. Love that you shop at thrift stores!!
Thanks so much!!
I had to pause your video to thank you for your prayer to people you don't even know. I'm going through the darkest time of my life right now, but I have hope and joy in knowing there are good people out there! I love your enthusiasm and excitement in your videos. I enjoy watching you and your husbands content! Thank you for documenting y'alls adventures! I know it is a simple thing to say, but your prayer when you were eating your chilly mac really encouraged me! Thank you!
Brook, I've been away from your channel for a while (forgot to check in!) and forgot how precious you are and what a joy you are to watch. I have to say you are one of the most lovable people I've ever "met". Such joy in you and such a trooper! Glad to be back watching you again. Take care of those digits!
Oh Wow! I used to live in the UP on the Great Lake Superior and remember shoveling out every morning before going to work 30 miles away in my VW bus - The Blue Goose! The UP is so special.
Thanks for your prayer ! From across the lake Huron east from you in Ontario ! Prayer works I feel it ! We need it now ! You' all stay safe ! Love Michigan !
We use those little packets from the hardware that you can put in your pockets, mitts, or boots to warm up our hands or feet. Kudos to you for hanging in there. I probably would have bailed. You are one tough cookie!!2🙌
I’m a Michigan girl, and you had me tearing up over those falls! I am not able to hike like that any more. So beautiful. I love your sense of adventure and your joy really shines through. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Brooke. Love your channel. When Mom & I used to go camping, she would be cold at night. I made pouches out of washcloths to hold 2 hand, foot or body warmers (which ever ones I could get). Then about 30 to 60 minutes before bed I would activate the warmers, and put them in the pouches. I’d put one at the bottom of the sleeping bag for her feet, one about half way up and one up where her shoulders would be. This helped Mom stay warm for most of the night. Just thought this might help you be warmer in your topper.
Great idea
I have no advice to add..... Your smile in the scenery says it all
~~~ My WONDERFUL friend ,, I stayed with you all the way throughout the video...I care about your safety...Thank you for having us disabled VETERANS come with you by way of your camera...GOD'S JOY be with you ...🙏..
I can't believe you camped in that freezing cold! Bless you and protect you!
-25 is as cold as I ever camped and I hope I never have to camp below 45 degrees ever again. I'm old and the cold camping days are long gone I hope. I'll just watch people like you who still cold camp.
brrrrr
I loved this . What a cozy little camper space you have created . I love watching your videos Brook . I live in the Canadian Maritimes . I have physical limitations and require a wheelchair , but I have started solo camping , and I am having a ball . I use a tent that I am able to drive my wheelchair right in to .
Doctors were treating my chronic pain , that I was left with after damage from bone tumors , with heavy narcotics for over twenty years . So I basically slept through those 20 years of my life , but I don't take any of them anymore , and I am treating my pain myself now in other ways and I started trying to do more things . I'm not very "able" so what we do is my adult sons come and set up my tent for me and then they leave me to do my camping on my own and I am having so much fun .
Thanks so much for inspiring me . Please keep posting your adventures . They are wonderful to watch and may inspire more women to get outdoors and try things 😀
I teared up reading this. Your sons are so sweet! Blessing to you and them! I’m glad they are helping so you can get out and enjoy camping ❤️
Bless you in your endeavors! You are braver than I !
This is my first time watching your channel. I must say you are a very brave young woman to be out and about camping in such extreme cold weather. May God continue to bless and protect you as you continue your life’s journey.
Thanks and welcome
Love your swinging doors. So much more civilized.
I lived in truck for years with various kinds of makeshift heat like little buddy. Then 4 months ago I finally sprung for a real furnace. Propex thermostat controlled fully vented propane heater. All exhaust goes out through the floor. Only clean dry heat pumped inside my cap. Set the thermostat (say 45°) and it turns on and off as needed throughout the night. TOTALLY CHANGED MY LIFE! No more struggle to stay warm and no more frost and condensation. Just push the on button and you are comfy warm. Can't recommend it enough and can't believe I waited so long to get it.
Thank you for the prayer. God's timing never ceases to amaze me. Thank you so much for your videos. I know what I'm binge watching tonight. Sending thanks and prayers as well from Wilsonville Oregon. God bless!
thanks!
I felt the cold watching you! Great endurance, you. Hope you are warmer now.
With your next build, don't forget to add insulation to the floor. It helps! A couple of insulated removable window covers help A LOT, too.
Beautiful build, beautiful journey, and beautiful woman. Thank you for inspiring us and sharing.
Brooke my girlfriend was given a pair of heated socks for Christmas so when she goes out to tend to her horse in the winter was the idea she wouldn't freeze as much. I had no clue such a thing was available and she says they are amazing. So maybe worth looking into. For some reason in the first video with the camper build I thought you had a little bigger space heater beside the pottie but I must have missed properly what it was. However ok jeepers -17 below that was brutal cold so you did amazing. It still looks cozy and a safe place to be. Thank you for taking us on the walk to the Falls holy they are beautiful. hugs
There’s something really special about you Brooke. You have a beautiful soul and an enthusiasm for life that is captivating. And you can build stuff!!
Congratulations on being selected to represent Alaska, Brooke! Very cool! I’m freezing just watching you. My feet are frozen right now too, and I’m in my 70 degree house!! I ALWAYS have cold hands and feet 🥶 - so annoying! I used to tent camp in the snow in the White Mountains, but NEVER at 8 below…you are one tough cookie! ❤️😁
How is she representing Alaska?
70° and hands feet freezing? Signs of 1) poor circulation 2) core temp getting low
Remedy 1) stand up walk around if unable to stand chair exercises arm movements and leg movements drink more water warm herbal teas 2) long pants socks long sleeved turtle necked shirts or sweaters cover your head try fingerless gloves it's what my doctor is always telling me. ATB.

@@SpamMusubi308 Thanks, doc! Man, you care about my cold hands and feet way more than my own primary care doctor does!! Thanks for that! ❤️😁
OMG Brooke -17F! Holy catfish that is so 🥶! I'm glad you got through the night. The truck camper is so sweet. The water fall was so beautiful. Be safe out there.
Sooooo grateful to see you drive responsibly. I have lived in snow country for over 60 years. Not all snow is the same. Other influencers scare the crap out of me. Good job!👏👏👏👏 Have a great trip!
I’m basically living in the back of my pick-up like that. All propane needs to be warmed up first. Also, fan would be good to circulate the heat from the Buddy Heater (maybe the next size up would help for your heating needs). The biggest problem with propane is moisture. So if you have wood in your truck it might get moldy. I also have two sleeping bags. My Coleman is rated for -40 F. But that’s too much now as I get hot in it. Now I use the lighter one. It makes a difference that my truck is insulated like a home though. Lastly, having an extra pair of inserts can be used just as and for slippers. Some of the stuff you’ve done here I’ve been doing for seven years now. 🙂
You been living in your pick up for 7 years?
@@mariamaria2751 Yep! Love it. I don’t make videos out of privacy, especially in terms of where I park at night (same spot for 6 years). 🙂
My record is -8F. I slept under a tarp. I'm perfectly happy if I never break that record. I've camped below 0 one other time, several times in single digits, several in the teens, and a bunch in the 20s. For my feet, I use those toasty toes or even hand warmers between 2 layers of socks. One trick that also helps me is to pull the toe of my socks a couple of inches away from the ends of my toes. That little extra air space makes a lot of difference. Congrats on your record!!
I just wanted to say thank you so much Brooke for your prayer, it touched my heart, you did a great job and I love the canvas roof it looks so pretty and clean. You definitely inspire me and I really appreciate how real you are, also I have to have my earrings, lol. God bless
thanks much!
Brooke, you are amazing! I love the way you face challenges in such a positive way. You always keep it real and that's just one of the reasons I admire you so. Stay warm! 🥶
thanks!
I'm setting here shivering in 65 degree weather just watching you 😆 glad you made it through your record setting campout ✌have a great week
You and I both Jim! 😂
Hey Chad 👋 ✌😂👍
I just found you an hour or so ago, and I’m already loving your channel. When you prayed before your meal, this surprised me, and there were some tears. I felt like I found a new friend. Thank you!
I really appreciate the prayer you said before you ate. It took strength and courage to put that in the video. Much love
Well done young lady, that was a freezing night to be in the back of a truck at those temperatures. Well done and thanks for sharing, stunning waterfalls at the end of the vid.
I concur, a couple of rubber hot water bottles- one for hands/body, one for feet, filled with near boiling water, should help to keep you toasty for a few hours!
Another fab video, Brooke. You really are tough andso brave spending time alone out there. I suppose I’m just a wimp!! 😆
Rubber hot water bottles make ALL the difference and can stay warm for hours!
I would camp with Thermacare the ones for menstural cramps. I would put one of those in my sleeping bag near my feet to help keep me warm.
I Love what you did with your truck and have a couple of suggestions. You could put a hot water bottle in the foot of your sleeping bag to keep your feet warm all night and definitely need to make some insulated panels for those windows. Brave girl to sleep in that cold! I have renauds also so I totally understand how it feels.
So nice to to hear your prayer. Nice for your thankful heart and your intercession for your viewers. May God continue to bless you and provide you with continued strength, means and patience to travel as a free individual in our country. 🙏👍😉😊
Updated:
I just happened to see your channel, and others similar channels recently, and I think that you, and others sharing their actual reality, and some have expressed some of the up, and down sides to van, RV, or vehicle living.
I believe that it is very helpful, and beneficial to others who may be thinking about this type of living without actually thinking through, about the some of the realistic problems that could occur with vehicle or van living etc.
People need to know what up sides there are, as well as some of the down sides of vehicle living.
I believe this channel, and other channels have been informative to others, including myself.
Although, I am NOT living in a vehicle or anything like this.
I feel that you , and others RUclipsrs sharing this with your viewers will be very helpful.
I wish you ALL the Best with your traveling endeavors.
I shared this with another traveler as I watched their RUclips channel for the first time, as yours, and I shared with them this information that may be helpful to you as well to others.
Therefore, I would also like to suggest a few Safety tips, and items that may help you, or others in your viewing audience.
Although, you may have knowledge of this already,
I am not sure, so I hope this will be helpful to you, others or someone.
*Keep a Extra working cellphone with you or in your vehicle.
You can purchase inexpensive phone with a very low monthly price between 25, 35, 45, dollars a month with unlimited data and text, and some have Nationwide coverage
Do your research for the best fit for you
Carry Several Extra portable phone chargers, and cables.
Consider theses items:
*Mini portable power charging station.
I have also seen outdoor portable solar powered power stations, that can be recharged from sunlight this may be very useful to have, to power your devices.
*Cellular signal booster for outdoor use, and camping situations to boost or amplify your cell reception,
Research to see what you prefer.
*Very Inportant:
Invest in a SOS distress electronic signal device, this a kind of device can send out a distress signal with your exact location.
There are various types of these devices, and including devices that can be used when boating or camping situations.
*Some have emergency Strobe lights SOS signaling with location alerts, and location updates that can be sent to your family, and emergency first responders.
Some can be synchronized with your smart watch or phone.
You can check online, and on Amazon, research what SOS devices will be a good fit for you.
*Mini portable vehicle battery charger-( portable vehicle battery jumper cables )
*Vehicle Jumper cables
*Keep a Fire extinguisher handy
Mounted Dashboard camera front and rear possibly.
Exterior vehicle cameras
Interior vehicle cameras
*Flashlights or pluggin spotlights
*Portable spotlights, and lanterns
Keep a few whistles around with you, and in your vehicle possibly in your vehicle’s center console
*A set of long range 2 way radios, walkie talkies, with others during trips, some have 100 mile radius keep for emergencies.
Use your own discretion regarding the use of any weapons.
Don’t forget to bring
Bear Spray
Pepper spray
Where is allowed
Keep in contact with your family, friends etc.
Although, I just noticed your RUclips channel, and other similar channels.
You seem Very Aware of your surroundings and Alert, and you may be aware of many of these suggestions, however, I Don’t know, so I just posted this anyway to help anyone who may benefit from these suggestions.
Keep up with the latest Weather Updates, beware and prepare for unexpected Weather events and conditions.
Keep your vehicle gas filled
Don’t chance your Safety by running your vehicle fuel or gas too close to Empty.
Fill it up anyway, it will save you alot of time, and headache later on.
Keep Extra financing, and savings for any unexpected issues, vehicle repairs, and overnight stays, in a emergency or if you need to rest indoors.
Keep Enjoying Yourself,
Keep Enjoying the outdoors, and Nature
Just..Please continue to
Be Positive, Safe, and Alert..
Wishing Success, Well-being and Happiness You All.

Brooke,
Another tip to help evenly warn the camper. Next time bring a medium size pot, fill it with water and then just boil the water. Don't take it off the burner. The boiling water creates humidity and humidity covers then entire camper all at once warming the place up. I learned this back in the 70s when we lost electric due to a snow storm and dad pulled out his propane stove and "cooked" to large pots of water and it warmed the place up pretty quickly.
Just be careful with the condensation it can cause mold.
That might work in a house. But I wouldn't want to try it in a Vehicle.
Everything would be dripping wet in the morning.
Best Wishes! M.H.
@@mikehagan4320 So being frozen in temps of 17 below is more preferable to you than a bit of moisture in the back of the truck? We'll look for your "found footage" video after you've been discovered frozen to death looking like Jack Nicholson at the end of The Shining.
@@llorylloyd This is not a technique to be used daily. Just when needed. And condensation will be dry by the time this is needed again. Unless Brooke does this kind of thing daily.
@@thereturningshadow I'm well aware of all you said. Everyone is free to comment their opinion.
Thank you so much for taking us along on your first field trip!!! You truly are an inspiration . . so happy and smiling even when it's 17 below 🥶
We already knew you were the best content creator on RUclips . . Congratulations on representing Alaska 👍👏♥😉!!!
When I was 20 years younger a friend and I tent camped in the snow at Mt. Hood, Oregon. And I found out that the batteries that we were using quit working at -22°! So fun! And thank you for the memories!
awesome!

Wonderful to be out in your cozy camper, good insulation test for sure.. cannot wait to be out camping again, in the meantime living vicariously thru this ☺️ Lovely week to you and yours 🌼🌺🌼
Well, Brooke you made my teeth chatter just watching you so I had to pause and go sit by my woodstove to warm up for the rest. Your cozy custom camper is adorable and the falls were spectacular. You Rock!!
We spent our coldest night winter camping a few qeeks ago. We were in a portable ice shack on a remote pond in the North Maine Woods. It was about 10 below zero with wind gusts of 50mph. It was a wild night but we survived! Thank God for our buddy heater and Teton sleeping bag. We know a bit of how you felt! I love love love your truck camper. 🥰You are so creative.
sweet ! was just thinking that would be cool to sleep on the ice in a shack
I used the same thing for the ceiling in the cabin my husband built for me last year. Inexpensive and looks great, we used strips of wood to emulate beams and plenty of insulation above it. Great job on the truck, looks like fun! :) God bless you!
until you take a dump at 10 pm and -25 degrees..in a camp tent --unheated ..you cant say you roughed it up north

Are you just surviving in this life or are you living? I love that even though it was soo cold you still hiked to see the falls!! So beautiful! Thank you for the view!
Hi Brooke, I check on your channel every now and then. Love your new truck, much better than a tent. I love watching you because your life is so much different than mine,or i would never want to camp or be in the wilderness,but I am fascinated by you and others who are brave enough to live like that. May the dear Lord always protect and keep you safe. When I hear about how cold it is there I am glad I am in Arizona where it is in the mid to upper 80s today 3/24/22.
I love to hear how you’re inspired to make these awesome creations. 🙏Thank you so much for your prayers.
Under the driver seat there should be a heat vent for the back seat. Maybe you could rig a heat vent to go from there to the back of the truck to keep it a more comfortable temperature while driving so it’s easier to keep a livable temp once you settle in. Or get a grizzly stove.
Hey Brooke thank you for giving us the tour on the cabin on the truck lol. It's absolutely adorable and doable! Love it. Congratulations on getting picked by RUclips, how awesome, and thanks for taking us with you to see the beautiful falls. It means alot to some of us that don't get the chance to see many of God's beautiful blessings. You put yourself out in extremely cold temps for us and I appreciate ya girl. Great video, Brooke!
Here's a little cold weather tip for you in that situation, something that happened to me.
The door locks frozen and not even the key would work.
Keep a small can of WD-40 with you that has the red spray tube.
If your door locks freeze, simply insert the red tube into the key slot and spray.
Immediately insert your key and the door should unlock.
Want you safe!
This was a lot fun to watch. My favorite part is that you took us to the falls! Happy journeys!
That WAS awesome and TOTALLY WORTH IT!! I used to camp in my uninsulated Chevy van. The 20 below times ARE a brutal confidence-builder. 😁
indeed
It cold is an understatement. I'm sure the camper will be a great deal more fun and function when it isn't so insanely cold. Always a joy to watch your videos. Beautiful waterfalls! God bless. 🌻
yes it will be!
Thank you for taking us on your hike with you. That is a sight I feel blessed to have seen in my lifetime, even if only through your lense. Thank you.
Oooh man was it ever worth it! Literally brought tears to my eyes when you rounded that bend and we began to see the falls💙😍Thank you for taking one for the team and bringing us along.
The perfect camper made by the most amazing lady Brooke!! OMG, water falls is so beautiful. Stay safe Brooke and enjoy your class and have a safe return home. Big warm hugs coming your way!! Windsor, Ontario Canada👏
Thanks for the great video - you were a trooper, for sure! I think a bit of extra insulation here and there will help. Maybe a drop down curtain made from a moving blanket over the outside of the back end to cover up the doors would help a lot in keep draughts out. Rubber hot water bottles for your feet! In my truck camper conversion I built in one of those Chinese diesel heaters - works great! You can get an all in one unit that is portable that you could stand on the ground outside under the tailgate and have the duct pipe come up and attach to an inlet vent in the back wall. Main benefit is you can just leave it running all night - nice warm dry air. Being portable you could take it anywhere you want for heat. I’ve yet to make a video on mine but look up Keith Gee - he has a portable one he uses in his truck camper with good info on how to set it up. 👍🏻
think i'll just let it warm up! LOL
You're such a trail-blazer Brooke !!!! Get out there ,Get cold, and Get happy !!!!! The choice to trust God and let Him lead you, is so darn inspiring , God bless you for being such a bright light shining out His glory Brooke. Next time take some of those hand/feet warmer things I see homesteaders using in the cold & snow. At least if your toes get cold , you'll be able to rewarm them enough for your sox and sleeping bag to maintain a warm blood flow. Also try to remember to keep your toes and feet moving inside the sox /boots etc, to keep blood moving. Putting feet INSIDE sleeping bag BEFORE they get cold will also help your poor circulation. If you already know all this and didn't do it , then you're def a silly sausage 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣You're absolutely the cheeriest cold camper I've ever seen 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have the exact opposite...I have turned the A/C on directly on my over heating feet. Once my pain meds kick in again they will not be so exceedingly hot !!! All part of the back injury and nerve damage unfortunately but it could be so much worse so I'm not complaining(not out loud at least)!!!!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Bless you dear lady , you can't help but stir the enjoyment within me whenever I watch you enjoying Gods glorious nature He prepared for you and to share with us, esp ones like me, who thru injury etc can no longer live this kind of life but we can do it vicariously thru you and your adventures. I share Jesus , crucified & resurrected for each and every person , for the forgiveness of sin ,and a new life in the power of the Holy Spirit, over the internet, every opportunity I get. See, God wastes nothing ... .. even tho I can't be out & about touching lives with His glorious love, I can do it via the social networks that reach people all over the world. 👏👏👏We must all let His light burn bright wherever we are...just as you're doing as you travel and post it on YT. thanks much take care!
So beautiful to see the waterfalls at 17 below zero. My husband and I camped at 17 below with a kerosene heater. His allergies were so bad from fumes we had to bug out.
Thank you for that prayer. Stay safe & thanks for taking the time to record and post your trip.
Hello from Los Angeles, California. I'm new to your channel and I have to say that the prayer that you did at the beginning of your meal was soo touching to me because I'm going through it right now. Thank you for that I really needed to hear the things you had to say and I know that God got me. Thank you!!!
This lifelong Minnesotan lives in a van, but I’m snowbirding in AZ for the winter (3rd yr). As little winter camping as possible for me. It can be plenty cold enough in the desert.
I’m pea green at how beautiful your truck camper turned out. I hope to get mine built out to feel more like home, soon.
I’m excited to see what you share with us about your class on the North Shore. I worked up there a couple of summers ago.
Blessed travel 🛻
AZ is NICE
I would like to get on board next winter. Don't want ro be in the cold anymore. I would come back in the summer.. 6 mos. out west and 6 mos in Ohio. Sound good?
@@debbiebolek2117, not sure what you’re asking, Debbie, just know that it is cold in the desert (relatively so) in the winter months and the wind is beastly and confining, at least in AZ. FL is hot and humid. Can’t speak to it personally, but they say CA has the best year round weather. Do you have a rig? If so, what type?
A significant emergency and travel fund is necessary, as well as a way to generate income, and there are many ways to do this.
Best wishes and safe travel😌
@@jillom397 Going on the road next year after I turn 65 and on Medicare.This way I will be insured. Don't have a rig yet. With gas prices the way they are, I'm investigating all my options. Keeping my home.back in Ohio for summer months here. Just wanted to know where to go for winter mos. Looks like California first. Just don't want the cold here in Ohio during winter mos. Ty for responding. Greatly appreciated!!
@@debbiebolek2117, CA prices are higher than anywhere.
Best on whatever vehicle you choose!
Hi Brooke, Amazon sells the same bag for $749. I really like your camper, you did a very nice job fixing it up. I'm surprised that Buddy heater didn't heat you out of there. I just bought the newest Mr. Heater called the BuddyFlex it heats 180 degree radius and has an attachment seprately sold you can cook on. I like it alot. You could store your fuel can in a very heavy wool sock and that may help on those cold days and nights. Thanks for sharing.
it was just too cold for that little heater in a metal box
Wow Brook, You got me wanting to get a pickup truck with a camper and detail it out similar to yours. You did a great job
Lord above, I bet your toes were Cold 🥶🥶🥶 after the hike to the falls. Thanks for taking me along because there would of not been any way I would've volunteeringly done that on my own. Once again thanks for the adventure. God bless and thanks for the prayers
My goodness, you are unique woman i'd find it hard to believe there are many who would spend the night in the freezing cold like that. I enjoyed the vid. Be safe
Right on Brooke,
I'll never complain when the lows are in the twenties here in northeast Texas sleeping in my hammock in the pines 😊 The upper peninsula Michigan is a beautiful place even in the winter I spent many a deer camp up there when I used to live in Michigan many years ago total blast it was.
Looking forward to seeing your next video it always an amazing adventure with you. God bless Y'all and much peace and love from northeast Texas 🤠✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✨🧸✨
thanks Tex!
Love all of your builds! I think this one looks a bit like you are inside of a covered wagon when you are inside. So cool. Thanks for all of your content. Ive been watching for a long long time but rarely comment. Thanks for bringing us all along on your adventures.
cool thanks much!
It looks so awesome Brooke! I was telling someone at Walmart about your futon / bed truck camper, when I saw they had one of those futons in their shopping cart. LOL! We struck up a conversation because of you! 😆❤
So cool! lol
Thank You Lord for Brooke's cheery cheeriness and gratefulness... it's so encouraging 🙏✝️👑
Wow ! That waterfall was so beautiful.
Thank you for taking us on your adventure. Love your video.👍👍
I love what you’ve done with your truck. I’m always in a redo state of my camper van, and I think the build is more exciting than the camping (until I’m camping, then ya know….) when you build out your van (or this truck) install a diesel heater. I have friends who swear by them.
I just love your spirit, and you bring so much joy to thousands of us who follow you. PS, I’m closing in on 72, and I’m no where near done yet!!!!
go get it!
That was soooo beautiful! Congrats on that camping experience!! Bless you girl!
Wow you are a strong tuff gal! I never saw a woman put a tent up by yourself and it’s not a little tent. It’s a tent WTH furniture inside I just had to tell you. You are so amazing, stay safe and many blessings !
We went to Colorado with our black lab and stayed in the box/cab. We did pretty good until we hit lots of snow in the mountains. I think we ended up in a motel. It was fun tho! That was about 45 years ago. Keep on trucking Brook, great vid.
I’ve been wanting to build out a van for like a year now but haven’t had the right amount of funds and van options at the right time just yet so it’s still a dream that’s brewing, but someday. I love watching everyone’s builds for inspiration.
The falls amidst the snow were breathtaking. Thank you for bringing us there. You and Dave are my newfound pre occupation. I live in a tropical country and watching these cold camping is making me chill too, who needs an A/C now. Haha.
I tent camped at 16 and woke up with frost all on the inside of the tent...but it was a cool experience...pun intended, congrats this was fun to watch. Your truck build came out sooo pretty!! I think the cloth top will be better MOLD won't grow behind that cause it breathes. And a 12 volt electric blanket may be a good thing to have on hand..
Another great video but it did look miserable in the back before you had the heater working. One good lesson I learned is to keep your propane and gas in your truck while traveling to keep warm. The falls were beautiful with the steam and mist rising off the warm water. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Enjoyed watching your video. Well done on the inside of your truck camper. Glad you made it through the night in such cold temperatures and nothing happened. I was so happy your truck started the next morning. You are a brave soul going out by yourself. Being out in a desolate place, common sense would tell me to have someone with you. Stay safe and warm.
Thank you for showing that Beautiful waterfall! It's amazing how RUclips provides a platform for people like you can show someone like me(who can't travel to those places) Such Beauty in this world 🌎! Thank you both!
Wow, what a majestic scene those falls are! That snow and the morning light and everything...something out of Narnia. Beautiful 💙💙💙
Thank you for sharing! I hope someday I can do something similar with an old beater truck. Your videos make me so happy because I love seeing winter scenery. I live in Southern CA, where we get about 10 actual winter-type days a season. I'm a fall/winter lover, and your channel transports me out of my hot, sunny reality to a place I'd otherwise not know.
awesome thanks!
Wow... what an adventure, Brooke!! 💚 Your topper truck is very cool (cold 🥶🥶🥶 at -17*😵💫😳) but I am sure you will put it to good use with more camping adventures...especially when it warms up a bit 😂🙌🌈 Stay safe, be well and see ya next time👋👋
I so enjoy your videos! Seeing your thrifting acquisitions also make me smile. You just go girl.
Thank you so much!!
You should add to your notes: To keep warm, pee in a bottle and put it next to your feet at night. If urge hits you at night, retrieve bottle and rewarm. For Women, please use the Shewee for better results. Brooke you are amazing and always love to watch you get into trouble. Stay warm, healthy and always remember to follow your nose!
I think this video is ( one of the best!) That walk to the falls and then the falls, just BREATHTAKING ! THANK YOU ! SOOO SORRY, you have that can't keep fingers or toes warm... 😞 I HATE BEING COLD ! 😊
... was snowed in at a hunt camp many years ago with a brother and Dad ,, in 3 straight days and nights gathered knee deep snow ,, closed all the access roads in the area ,, no thermometer but down to about -20 * high Western Rockies about 11,000ft.,,, and also in a hot tent so really no problem ,, except my brother was broke down on the back of another mountain a few miles away with no real gear ( he was out scouting an interesting area),, after the snow let up we went out to search for him ,, found and made makeshift repair to get back to base camp .... not a fan of winter camping without a hot tent .. did a lot of early spring and late fall outings to fish with set up in back of my truck ,, had one of those extra long Suburbans ,, took the back seat out and had a full size double bed mattress ,, but always had a propane heater along if it got too cold .. the older I get , I don't like being cold and wet ..... when the temps drop to cold feet time I put on the heavy calf high rag wool socks and down booties ,,, does the job nicely ....
hot tent is the way to go!
