    Steve often has that incredible ability to play less but create more. The young lady plays great. You can hear her love for Vinnie. Its hard not to copy our heroes.. I guess it is a language.

    There's so much incredible music going on here that it's kinda hard to figure out what to start appreciating first. Great Crusaders tune, nice trombone solo, funky Rhodes piano comp… and the drum "battle" towards the end - it just doesn't get any better than that! It sure was cool to see Senri - who has become an excellent bandleader - watching Steve like a young hawk in order to fit in with his unique style.

    Is that Senri playing drums with Steve Gadd? If so it doesn't get any better than this for her-sharing the stage and learning from the MASTER!!!

      Glad someone else recognized "the other drummer" This isn't the first time they shared the stage - Senri and Steve shared the stage along with Dave Weckl and Akiro Jimbo back in 2017. You probably know that Senri has been a virtuoso since age 5, but she long ago made the step that extremely few rock drummers can, IMO - going from blazing chops to world class MUSICIANSHIP. This performance is a perfect example of that musicianship - there's only ONE Steve Gadd, and Senri knows that and plays accordingly. BTW, Takana Miyamoto's piano comping was in that groove, too!

    How on earth could that person be the second drummer, with Stve Gadd being the FIRST DRUMMER???
    That blows my mind. I have been playing kit since 1962, and in my wildest dreams I couldn't do that. HOW DO YOU ADD TO GADD????
    Sorry, didn't mean for that to rhyme!!!!

    • @peterb7923
      @peterb7923 Год назад +4

      “How on earth…” you ask. Here’s how - Steve Gadd is the guest artist. He was invited to appear with this orchestra. He has played along with other drummers and percussionists countless times in his career (Remember Stuff?) and he seems fine with it, so why do YT commenters have to whine about it? As an invited guest, he wouldn’t ask that the band’s full time drummer leave the stage, especially when she is one of the top rated drummers in the world, and they have shared the stage before, and also they are friends.
      I think it’s a shame that you’re trying to show appreciation for Steve by dissing other fine musicians (“that person” in your words) And I think it’s odd that you’re bragging about drumming for 61 years and yet you don’t know who Senri Kawaguchi is. You may like Steve Gadd’s playing more than Senri’s, but you should have more respect, like he does. A quick look around RUclips will show you that Senri had accomplished more by age 10 than you have in your entire career. THAT is what should blow your mind!

    • @dacramac3487
      @dacramac3487 Год назад +2

      Not the "second drummer". She is the bands normal drummer. Look at their other videos. In 2018, she was on stage with Steve Gadd, Akira Jimbo & Dave Weckl as part of Yamaha Drum's 50th anniversary celebrations, so it's not as if they didn't know each other.

      Hopefully, you've figured out by now that you can avoid being bored by Steve Gadd by simply not watching or listening to his performances. I'm sure the amazing drumming skills of Peter Criss are much more exciting to you, and better suited to your taste.
