You have to be such a decisive person to choose a signature scent. Theres just so much out there and if you're like me you're kind of always looking for the "next best thing". I have 25 bottles in my collection and I'm pretty happy with being able to wear something different every day, but it's also a dangerous game to play because you'll never be fully satisfied.
Same boat, variety is the spice of life, similar to food, hey I love mangoes and pineapples, but could not eat them everyday for ever. scents are like that for me, just started in this hobby, and I know enough now, what kinds of frags, I like, and which ones are not my preference. so in the future, I hope my collection decreases in size, but I would always have variety.
Good points Chris, it’s going to be Aventus for me, it’s safe, versatile and ya it gets slated to death but if my wife loves it then that’s enough for me, happy wife happy life ❤️
Solid video Chris. I found that having one specific frags I consider my main scent has always been a issue. I love TF Tobacco Vanille during the fall and winter but I also wear other Tobacco scent just as much at that time. I found instead of having one specific frag, I have a Signature Note where Tobacco is the usual note that they all really share. Same for the spring/summer where I may have some Tobacco scent that work during that time, Lemon is the Signature Note for that time of year.
I've been going hard into the fragrance world over the past few months, I've tried about 10 or 12 new scents (for me) and many are fantastic, but the one I come back to over and over again, is the first one I tried on this journey. Al Haramain Amber Oud "Tobacco Edition" I love that frag, could be my signature for sure...
Well I have a thought. If you choose a very expensive niche fragrance as your signature, but your kids do not turn out to be fragrance enthusiasts, then they will almost never come across that smell ever again. For that specific purpose or building memories in your kids' sense of smell, so that they remember you when smelling it again, it would probably be a good idea to also wear something not niche, or if niche, not very exclusive, but relatively popular enough. So that it might have a chance to last many years, and that many others also wear, and that might not be severely reformulated over time (easy, right? ;) So that in the not so near future it is relatively likely that your kids might smell that scent here and there again.
My signature scent is Bvlgari Tygar. I know it’s overpriced, and I know it’s basic. There is just something about it that makes it worth it for me. I’ve tried the clones, all the popular ones, but the OG hits differently. It’s in another league. The first time I smelled it, I had never smelled something that good. I couldn’t have enough of it for months. Even when I didn’t leave the house I would grab it and smell the cap ever now and then. The only issue is I only like it during hot weather. I haven’t found my cold signature scent yet and I’m still looking for something to hit like Bvlgari Tygar did.
Never thought it would be, but Club De Nuit Urban Elixir Armaf is my new signature scent. I have loads of different perfumes, but there's just something about this one.
Yet to find mine, but i know my scent profile. I'm more of a natural scent guy than a fragrance guy. Just the dry aroma of pipe tobacco, coffee, nuts, cinnamon, woods, spices etc. Like the smell of a woodshop with coffee and spices lingering in the air. In a way that no one thinks you wear a fragrance, just a pleasant aroma. Tried Extra Virgo, a house from italy recently that fits that scent profile.
I would always wear Aramis edt when younger I wore it for years hair, body, soaps and deodorant I had sets of it.I still have a bottle tucked away but sadly it’s lasts no time before you don’t even notice it they brought out an EDP but smells completely different and I find that’s up to much quality wise they need to bring back the power house from the 70/80 it was a proper scent that would surprise some today
I also still love and have a bottle of Aramis. I’ve been wearing it since I was 16, i’m 55 now. I love the earthiness of it. Another niche earthy fragrance I have and has become one of my favorites is Amouage Beach Hut. It’s fantastic and very strong. Worth checking out.
I'm on team fresh. I love all sorts of scent but stuff I like to wear everyday usually lean towards the fresher side. Out of all the frags in my collection, the thing I'd keep forever and would definitely not mind being remembered for is Profumum Roma's Acqua Viva. I just love how sparkling and realistic the lemon is. The performance is pretty stunning too as all the frags from this brand are extrait's although they should perform as they are pricy too. Plus, because it's basically a lemon scent, I don't think it's gonna annoy alot of people as it's a natural kind of smell. Of course, it might change in the future but so far after using so many frags, I've landed on Acqua Viva.
I have too many fragrances to have a signature scent. My signature scent used to be Drakkar Noir, but it seems so long ago that was the case. In my collection, my top 10 favorites are: Naxos, Jubilation XXV, Angels' Share, Layton, Nio, Dior Homme Parfum, Sedley, BDC EDP, The One EDP and Bleu Electrique. That leaves so much more in my collection out that I love, and it's possible on a different day some of the ones just outside the top 10 would replace some that are currently there, but as of now those are my favorite 10.
Getting more and more difficult to rock a signature with all the recent brand buy-outs, reformulations and discontinuations. Even if you find a scent that really works for you, it could smell different or even be completely gone from the market in a couple of years. In that case, it might be wise to pick up a couple of bottles at a time? Then again, you could get tired of it after a few months and want (or be influenced to want) a change. Especially with all the online hype over new releases. 😉 At least your backup will continue to increase in resale value. It's an uncertain hobby this one.
I couldn't agree more. For me a signature scent needs to be personal and unique and sadly pretty much every designer fragrance is SO SO linear and mass appealing. I ventured into Niche about 6 months ago and found things that were so so very different from the majority of generic cr*p you get in the shops. ATH Onyx Extreme is simply something else and just grows and grows each time I wear it. Just a shame about the price tag 🤣
@@njdenney69 Good call on designer homogenization. Unhyped niche, indie and artisan are definitely the way to go nowadays for something more unique and uncommon. Even some oud attars for the colder climates.
I've just started sampling Amouage Range. Amazing fragrances. I've been a Gio man for years. And wear the range in rotation. But after following your channel and a couple of others Im certainly exploring more and more.. currently focused on florals and rose based. Cheers Chris
Although I like the idea of a signature scent, for example my father loved "Canoe" classic barber shop cologne, personally I just love wearing different fragrances depending on my mood, and situation. also weather plays a role, right now, we are having temps above the 90's (f) with a lot of humidity, sweet and/or smoky heavy frags that I love, are kept on the shelf, and the freshies are on rotation. that being said, I do wish to get to the point someday where I have much fewer bottles than I have now, and have maybe a "signature scent" for each occasion. one for work, one casual / heat, one for romance, etc.
I don’t think I have a signature scent as such, but definitely a handful of ones I will always go back to more often than any others. Acqua di Gio EDP rekindled my love of that line. Terre d’Hermes Eau Givrée has been worn a lot since I bought it in May. Givenchy Gentleman Society just works brilliantly on my skin in all but hot weather. Amouage Interlude Black Iris and my old winter dumb Reach Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme will be my go to scents this winter. Maybe one day I’ll find an all year favourite that I’ll be known for but at 47 time is running out
My signature scent has always been Fahrenheit and Fahrenheit parfum. Recently though i started testing niche fragrances and you can tell the difference between designer and niche if you love fragrance. I'm now a huge fan of parfums de marly especially Carlisle and kalan i have 8 PDMs and having 2 delivered this week so i will have nearly the whole range. Creed aventus though for me is the ultimate masculine fragrance and the shower gel is equally great
Just love that video, as I am fragmental as well I wearing a lot of different frags every day… now I start thinking for 4 signature fragrances ( for the different seasons at least)
I haven't found a signature fragrance but I have a signature note and that is leather. I really like Tom Ford Ombré Leather, Lattafa Velvet oud, Afnan Rare Carbon, Lattafa Qaa'ed Al Shabaab, Maison Alhambra Toscano Leather, Lattafa Ana Abiyedh Leather etc.
yes, found my signature scent recently! it is.... Initio Paragon! works every time and has good sillage and longevity but is not offensive 2 someone :D
Yes Original Le Male was a Favorite of mine ,the Lavender Vanilla Mint tonka bean is always a Man’s Love an All Year Fresh , then we get Mature , I think even our Pheromones Change ,Like women’s Hormones Pheromones also change And Mature ,and we Move away from the Candy sweets , to Earthy Notes like Vetiver, Iris Tobacco Oud’s , most still have Have Base Notes Especially Vetiver is in so many Sent’s Vanilla’s Tonka , and Lavenders are comfort Base Notes Ouds moss , anyways this can go on for Days Year’s just like a Signature Sent , we Become One with
I keep wavering between a few fragrances: Oud wood, Tobacco oud, Mandarino di Amalfi, Royal oud, Plum Japonais, also Costa Azzura start to grew on me but I think Guerlain's Vetiver or Parfums De Marly - Oajan which should have a final fight... But I think deep down in my mind I would root for Oajan :)
Prada L'Homme Intense and Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Cologne I could wear day after day. I may have to get the new Platine Prive and use that to extend the life of my bottles of the Cologne and thankfully it looks like it's still possible to get additional bottles the Prada.
Cannot stress this enough. If you are married/have a partner, test your fragrance with them before deciding if it's your signature scent! If they don't like it, or worse are revolted by it, it's a no go!
Nah! That's a bad approach completely. It's another way of saying if your partner dislikes or hates what you love or like, stop doing it. If you love a fragrance and your partner does not, just wear it whenever you're not near them. Even some fragrances we once hated gets loved by us over a period of wearings or after sitting on the shelf for a while or when our sense of smell matures to love something different. Not just in the fragrance world, in life generally. If you're not careful, that mindset would affect other areas of your life without even realizing it's the root cause.
I’m not the biggest ‘frag head’; I own approx 40 fragrances I’ve acquired mostly over the last 3 years. Obviously that’s much more than the average person on the street. One thing I’ve learned from owning a fragrance collection is that fragrances choose you, not the other way around One day you might be ambivalent about a new fragrance. Then another day you realise you’ve been wearing it for 5 days straight. Pretty much all of my favourite frags were a little bit ‘meh’ on first sniff. It was only when I was wearing Antaeus to the office nearly everyday for a month that I realised it was my holy grail scent.
I’m often wearing scents that were complimented/favorites by a person I’m meeting with. For example my mom loves Amouage Myths so when visiting parents I always wear it. When I’m going on a date with my girlfriend I wear Dior Homme Parfum or Baccarat Rouge. That way I’m making them remember me also by the scent. If I would have to stay with one fragrance for life it would be Essentiel Parfums Bois Imperial. It is not my favorite, it is simply universal and can be used for any occasion, great performance and great price for what it gives you.
Ive always loved the orignal reflecrtion man and then my dad said what u wearinng...he took a real shine to it so i bought him a bottle, turns out he went thru it super quick so i then handed over my back up bottle so its now become his signiture scent though i still love it i cant wear it cos it wud spoil that association with dad fr me now Need to get my nose on the new 45 version just a lil outta my price range atm!
Nice vid Chris good advice for all. I do try loads of newies out but rarely follow through. SOTD got a compliment today that was Bel Ami by Hermes. Youve got expensive tastes which isnt something to be ashamed of. Go with the fragrantica reading all the way its a winner. My signature is that old dandified masculine Vert De Fleur, followed by Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel
I've been going back and forth with some of my frags here, since it's been very hot lately. But I've been liking how Tous Man works for me in the past few days. Even if it smells more like something one would wear for working at an office, but it lasts quite a bit. That one, or Burberry Hero.
Chris, I would LOVE to find a signature scent. So would my wife! Unfortunately, I’m the type of person who loves to switch it up constantly. My mood is constantly changing…what I’m drawn to wearing changes almost every day, and often changes multiple times a day. It’s common for me to spray 3 different fragrances in a single day! I just love smelling so many different compositions from my collection that I can’t settle. Maybe I’m crazy…
Love Reflection 45 but for some reason doesn't last long on my skin at all? I went with the regular Reflection Man which lasts longer and is about $150 cheaper too :)
Because it is an extrait, less alcohol so ofc it lasts shorter. I don't know what the fascination is about wearing extraits nowadays. Yeah, wear extrait if you want a strong heavy bubble scent close to you that lasts and lasts, but I like to project, so edp it is.
I'd say the best idea is to do what you did a few videos ago & pop in to somewhere classy, like Harrods & test a bunch of high end scents. IMO, one or two really top quality fragrances are worth more than a hundred high street brand bottles.
I often reach for Parfums de Marley - Herod or Creed - Silver Mountain Water. I look forward to trying the new take on Reflection (I’ve sampled the original and have enjoyed it)
If you have the money, buy fragrance decants! I found out through that how much I LOVE Aqua Celestia by MFK, and it has become my signature summer scent (I live in southwest USA where it goes 100+ F) I also found out that way about fragrances I hate that I can't find samples in stores of (Black Phantom by Kilian, JOOP! HOMME by JOOP!) Through decants, I found my love for Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee, and Dior Fahrenheit. Always sample and try!
What helps me choose fragrances besides ones you mentioned is getting something you like the smell of in a fragrance! If you like the ocean smell, look for blue, or aquatic scents! If you like Apple cinnamon tea, try to find something with those notes in it.
Haven't decided yet my signature scent from my collection but at least now I know what sort of scent I like to wear cause I'm the one who's going to smell it all day long. Reflection Man, Belu de chanel edp, Dior homme intense, Spicebomb Extreme, Oud wood, Fucking Fabulous. All these I'm enjoying wearing it.
It's weird. The scents that I consider the absolute best would not be my first choice as a signature scent. Sauvage Elixir is a masterpiece but as a signature scent it's akin to wearing a tux to the bowling alley.
I find it very difficult to favour one above all. Private Label, Chetyre and Myths Man for cooler weather; Oliver, Burlington 1819 and Cologne Indélébile for the warmer.
I do have a couple of scents but wow Acqua Dell' Elba Altrove is the one I don't tell anyone asking for what it is.. This is the one I really do "wanna keep for myself" So psssht🤫🤫
Musk oil by Houbigant (now it's called Alyssa Ashley). It still exists but it just doesn't smell the same anymore. I look for a similar scent high and low 🤩
Highly underrated hidden gem for me ...sauvage inspired(dare i say😇😬) IMHO is better smelling then Sauvage Edt....from the opening to the dry down....out of my whole collection of more than 60.......expensive ones included.....TABAC CRAFTSMAN edt is my most complimented fragrance.....but apart from that.....I SIMPLY LOVE WEARING IT.😊
i really thought its gonna be a tabac based fragrance. For me the Standard Refelction Man smells better. But literally everyone says the 45 Version is better. Maybe my nose cant deal with the high concentration or smth.
Would you have any thoughts on Layton layered with Sedely as a unique signature scent? Figure two sprays of Layton topped with a few shots of Sedley. I tried it and think it's nice, but I don't trust my nose since a lot of highly-rated fragrances don't seem to impress me that much (Layton is one of those, by the way)
I have a signature birthday fragrance but I only wear on my birthday that would be ath&fragmental smolder kick myself in the head theoretically for not buying a full bottle so I only have a 10 mL
I never understood how anyone can really commit to a single signature scent. I mean, I love my Aventus, my Ganymede, my Tobacco Oud Intense, etc but maybe tomorrow I want some Terroni or Megamare or something entirely new. I always wonder, what's out there something new I haven't smelled, waiting for my nose. Can't ever see myself commiting to one scent.
Dolce e Gabbana pour Homme before it was toned down a few years ago with the old sticker label on it !! For an Italian it was the scent of southern Italy 🇮🇹 that Tabacco and that swade box was killer in the nineties 🔥 still worth buying but buy intenso now !!
My holy grail depends on the day and the time of day. Each one from my collection seems like the best ever when I wear it. At the time I think I could and should wear this exclusively until later in the day or the next day I spot another fragrance I want to wear and the I think the same thing all over again. Ha
I know it's not the newest of the line, but Viktor & Rolf Night Vision EDP has been one of my favorites. That green pistachio is fantastic in fhe air. My wife loves Givenchy Gentleman EDT Intense on me. I absolutely get it. It's fantastic. So between the two, these are the two I consider as my Signatures.
I always come back to 1 Million Parfum! It's the entire package: performance, compliment factor and a great unisex smell. Sadly I heard it's reformulated but it was such a unique masterpiece!
There is a brand from the UK called “My Signature Aroma” their niche collection is unbelievable, over 4000 fragrances within their inventory and i would say 95% close to high end fragrances on the market
I'm a scent whore, and float from fragrance to fragrance 🤣 That said, I've got a huge container with ~50 unopened fragrances, and ~20-30 opened bottles I'm going to sell and streamline my collection soon.
You have to be such a decisive person to choose a signature scent. Theres just so much out there and if you're like me you're kind of always looking for the "next best thing". Oud for greatness! Gets me crazy compliments and I absolutely love it.
Arquiste Nanban, dark, smokey, mysterious beguiling - just love it!
Good points Chris, it’s going to be Aventus for me, it’s safe, versatile and ya it gets slated to death but if my wife loves it then that’s enough for me, happy wife happy life ❤️

Nice choice! That's my SOTD.

The original Le Male is STILL my “Signature Scent”…I’ve got 3 full bottles from the late 1990’s-early 2000’s 😊
Great info video and I enjoyed it and have a blessed day

is RL RALPH'S CLUB ...classy,

Totally agree with this. My wife dislikes most fragrances. I lucked out with Herod as we both love it.
One more reason single life = best life
Bollocks to that. Like it, wear it.
I always go with what the ladies at the office like.

If I would have to stay with one fragrance for life it would be Essentiel Parfums Bois Imperial. It is not my favorite, it is simply universal and can be used for any occasion, great performance and great price for what it gives you.
New to this, but so far, Prada Luna Rosa Black. Smells so good.
Sideeffect or a full bottle of DHP are my grails
Ive always loved the orignal reflecrtion man and then my dad said what u wearinng...he took a real shine to it so i bought him a bottle, turns out he went thru it super quick so i then handed over my back up bottle so its now become his signiture scent though i still love it i cant wear it cos it wud spoil that association with dad fr me now
Need to get my nose on the new 45 version just a lil outta my price range atm!
Azzaro Visit is my SS and I chose it because it's underrated, unique and a cheapie.
Not surprised you mentioned Le. Male, but I was expecting Enigma by ROJA. Maybe I need to get my nose on Reflection 45
I feel that! So many good ones to choose from it’s hard to pick one. You don’t need just one signature scent though 😉
Chanel 1957 my signature. But its also my most expensive fragrance that i am reluctant to wear it to often haha
I look forward to trying the new take on Reflection (I’ve sampled the original and have enjoyed it)
BR 540 is my grail ! Love reflection 45 though
Ultimate by Arabian Oud is my signature. It is such a slept on brand but they have some amazing fragrances
Reflection Man,
Belu de chanel edp,
Dior homme intense,
Spicebomb Extreme,
Oud wood,
Fucking Fabulous.
All these I'm enjoying wearing it.
It's weird. The scents that I consider the absolute best would not be my first choice as a signature scent. Sauvage Elixir is a masterpiece but as a signature scent it's akin to wearing a tux to the bowling alley.
😂
I find it very difficult to favour one above all. Private Label, Chetyre and Myths Man for cooler weather; Oliver, Burlington 1819 and Cologne Indélébile for the warmer.
Great video Chris
Thanks 👍
I do have a couple of scents but wow Acqua Dell' Elba Altrove is the one I don't tell anyone asking for what it is..
This is the one I really do "wanna keep for myself"
So psssht🤫🤫
Reflection 45 was my guess for you.
What would you consider to be a more “high end” version of BRUT for men?
Hi, can you tell me what the original Le Male cost in 1998? I don’t think it was around 50-60€ (100-120 Dm). 😉
Interesting philosophical piece.
Yesterday I smelled new Acqua di Gio parfum and I thought this is it
God damn.
It's sooooo good
Bvlgari Terrae essence ❤
Guerlain l'homme Ideal Extreme ❤
Penhaligons halfeti ❤
Those 3 i allways have and will have the rest of my life
Would you have any thoughts on Layton layered with Sedely as a unique signature scent? Figure two sprays of Layton topped with a few shots of Sedley. I tried it and think it's nice, but I don't trust my nose since a lot of highly-rated fragrances don't seem to impress me that much (Layton is one of those, by the way)
What happened to Enigma?
I have a signature birthday fragrance but I only wear on my birthday that would be ath&fragmental smolder kick myself in the head theoretically for not buying a full bottle so I only have a 10 mL
Frag should i get versage dylan blue or cdim or rasasi hawas plz help me !
Im 17 years old
It was GIT but my latest bottle wasnt too strong
Ha
unpopular pick but it is Tom Ford Noir for me.
Instant like for The Last Crusade reference!
😉
I assume that Reflection 45 has an enormous performance,am I rught?
I think after years of searching found it in new York intense by Nicolai
Lovely video. I wanna know how’s Dior Homme Parfum?
Excellent!
@@FRAGMENTAL thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
God luck finding it
Creed: Millesime Imperial for me
My Holy Grail ? Smoulder of course. then Chanel Allure. the original.
You are the original La Male! :D
YSL Tuxedo 🙌🏻
Mizensir - Perfect Oud
Not Enigma!?
Just for special occasions so probably not a signature. I consider a signature more as an everyday wear.
No Hypnotizing Fire?!
Layton
I always come back to 1 Million Parfum! It's the entire package: performance, compliment factor and a great unisex smell. Sadly I heard it's reformulated but it was such a unique masterpiece!
There is a brand from the UK called “My Signature Aroma” their niche collection is unbelievable, over 4000 fragrances within their inventory and i would say 95% close to high end fragrances on the market
I have so many signatures scent.😂
I'm a scent whore, and float from fragrance to fragrance 🤣
That said, I've got a huge container with ~50 unopened fragrances, and ~20-30 opened bottles I'm going to sell and streamline my collection soon.
I need fico di Amalfi on steroids!🤘🤙👍
my signature scent is YSL la nuit de l'homme le parfum since over 10 years now.
Will greenly be a good choice?
👍🏻
