Every time I see Gavin running around the studio, all I can think of is Tim Curry in the movie “Clue”!
Seriously though I’ve been a photographer probably close to as long as you, and I find something in every video that is educational. Keep it up!

Another one I had to wait and watch the recording... Always learn something and fun to watch. One day I hope to have Chloe in front of my camera.

Arrived late so could only view the recording and live is a bit more fun. But you are always great and watchable, either way. Compliments to your team: They have gotten so good at all the production issues with streaming, like showing the right screen image, positioning the inset image, keeping the sound on 🤣 and the volume up, etc. Compliments to Chloe K- amazing how she can hold those poses and good posture throughout all your talking spells. Really appreciate your tips, thanks for sharing this session!

Thanks for a great video, Gavin! I'm happy to see you using a Fuji, which is what I mostly use, the Xt3 and X100V.

I'm still a beginner, so this is really interesting. Higher flash power means light for a longer time, and can show movement, but doesn't the shutter speed control that? Or is 200/250 not fast enough to stop most movement? I actually think I might use this to my advantage, I'm photographing a ballet dancer next week and some fotos with movement might be good. If I want more movement, I think I need to use continuous light rather than flash. ...Oh wait, you just said with older flash technology it's the opposite. I don't know what we have at school exactly, I think it's older and plug in strobes. So would full power freeze more? I'm pretty sure that they don't show the flash duration at all.
You mentioned continuous auto focus, to keep up with Chloe. I've never used that, but it will probably be necessary to try out for the ballet shoot.

another great live! Of all the gear I see on your videos, I want to know about the green ball you have on the end of the grip arm on your c-stand. are they purpose-built? where can I find them. Tennis balls just don't seem to cut it. Cheers!

Hi Gavin. Really great video. Very informative and I loved the way you showed how fash and constant light create different results for sharp in focus images. Any chance of a private mesage with you. There is something I would like to discuss with you. Thanking you in advance. Best wishes. Andy

Great video, great tip about flash power V flash duration. Doesn't normally affect me, but will remember when doing dance etc.

We learn because you make it fun by being totally potty. If you gave us a plain boring old lecture, we probably wouldn't learn anything. It's the fun bits that make us want to learn. 😃
