Lease A Car With LeaseLoco: leaseloco.sjv.... The second generation Kia Sorento is a tale of two halves. It first appeared in 2010 but the model we look at here is the facelifted and heavily revised version that was on sale from the tail end of 2012 through to its replacement in 2015.
This model's remit didn't really change with the update. This was still a big SUV that got plusher and more expensive with every subsequent renewal, but still not at the same pace as the rest of the SUV market. Don't believe it? Think of it in these terms. Wind the clock back a decade and you could buy nearly three top-spec Sorentos for the price of a top-spec Range Rover. These days, you'd get four Sorentos for the price of the ritziest Range Rover. So the Sorento is better value than ever? That could be one appraisal. The best value still comes with used cars though, as you'll see here. Affiliate Links:

Good review - thanks. One specific advantage over the previous Sorento is the fact that it now offers the option of a manual transmission (the predecessor only came in automatic form). Some of us have an aversion to automatic cars..! Again, although you don't mention it, I note that this car has a manual (mechanical) handbrake instead of those ridiculous electric handbrakes with plastic switches or buttons. But I'd like to know if there is a footrest to the left of the clutch pedal please?

Maybe because of a stupid previous owner?! What can you tell us about you, though ?

American petrol engine? I’ve heard the diesels are reliable

Ouch - I feel your pain..! I'm curious to know if when you bought the car it had a Full Service History? Did it have especially high mileage? Even a well-engineered engine needs regular oil changes. If it DID have FSH, then that's very bad news. I take it this was a 2.2 litre Diesel?

That sucks, next time you buy consider having the a compression test done on the engine to see if the cylinders are all in speck. I almost bought a Sportage and just to be safe had a compression test done and it the cylinders were all well out of spec. Best money ever spent, I ran the other way, anytime you're considering an older high mileage car consider a compression test, it'll save you're a**.
