Economical to run, low servicing costs and never went wrong. What more could you ask for, can't recommend it highly enough for a family.

Saw a slightly newer one in Sainsburys car park earlier - caught it from the corner of my eye and thought - thats big and looks nice...wow its a KIA. In a gun metal colour it looked like if you parked it on your drive the neighbours would think you were doing OK.
My brother-in-law has a 14 year old CRV on 140k miles that he bought new. Its become totally unreliable recently ( though I think he is too tight to pay for dealer repairs ) but when I suggest a Skoda or KIA replacement would be a decent cost effective replacement he says he wouldn't have them because of "that badge". Give him a wave when you pass him - he will be easy to spot his is the black CRV on the hard shoulder of the M62

i used one for my work, but was the new 22 plate models. was a 7 seater self charge hybrid. over 50k worth of car it was that high spec. hadnt driven one before nor an auto which this one was and it was so easy to drive , both fast and cruising. for a 1.6 petrol turbo with electric motor putting out 226hp it was very quick especially kick down on the move. going up hills was a breeze. chuck it in corners without concern and does also 600 miles to a tank. i would have one if i had the money and i dont need such a big car. dont know what these older ones are like but you'd have no regret getting a newer one. kia do make really nice cars, my work car now is a 22 plate awd auto sportage and while the 1.6 turbo petrol engine shifts the car quickly and effortlessly for 150hp without any electric motor aid and rides well for a car on 19" wheels. its fun to drive fast in, but the serento handled much better.

Rear diff bushings can wear as the car ages too. The two small bushings at the front of the diff seem to be the most common ones to wear. Also, make sure you change the automatic transmission fluid every now and then. Once the fluid wears out you will have issues with the lock up clutch (feels like an engine misfire at certain speeds). Keep the fluid fresh and the transmission is very reliable. Still driving my 2011 model to this day. Great review.

Got a 2011 KX-3 bought it last year with 92600 full Kia service history. I can confirm the clutch has a an issue, well more the slave cylinder was leaking. So that was a new clutch and dual mass fly wheel, at a lovely £1800. Also had the timing chain done as it sounded a bit tinny, could have probably got away with replacing the chain tensioners but I do a lot of driving abroad so had it done for peace of mind. That was £650, also had the alternator clutch done at the same time. Other than that it’s been great and I’ve put a load of miles on it in the year and bit of owning it.

Not sure if you work with them, but they can often offer excellent value (if you are not MPG focused), and are little known, especially as insurance companies now recongise them for regular insurance. E.g., Toyota Alphard Vs a Toyota Proace Verso is something that might be of interest to family buyers. Maybe...

Had one in 2015 as a hire car for about 5 weeks .Did about 3000 miles all over the UK .TBH it was a very decent car and much better than my old Volvo XC90 that I had .The great thing was it was just a very easy drive ,and these days that is what I am bothered about!.Also it would carry a load of stuff.I remember a slightly scary emergency stop on the A55 expressway ,but it stayed on the road and did not crash .When I was looking to swap my old Volvo I seriously looked at one of these to replace it .

A couple grand more get you a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe 7 seater, manual which is what I've had the past 5 years from new and it's an amazing modern family car.

I think Sorento is slightly bigger than CRV & RAV4 and obviously the looks of the Sorento are much better!

HI top man, you have sold it ,I'm at present looking for one I've had 2 Kia's in my life the first was an early Sedona 1.9 as a private hire driver 195 thousand miles the only cost was service, clutch pedal, tyres, brake pads and alternator ,second one was an early karens drove 100 miles a day to London and back never let me down I covered 120 thousand miles never let me down again the only cost was tyres, service and brake pads, I'm now a Toyota man again a great build of car 2009 Prius covered 121 thousand miles I've had it 10 years the only cost is service, break pads and tyres, but as I said in the beginning I'm seriously thinking of going back to a Kia lots of bucks for your dosh. Best of luck keep up the good work. I forgot to mention I'm still on the original battery pack in the Prius, not bad going.

Hi Matt I liked this video, funny you should say about 4x4’s having more road noise because my 2021 Sportage AWD is noisier than I expected, is it the chassis/tyres/aerodynamics of a brick? Or maybe the higher ground clearance?

Love your videos Matt and most of your views / recommendations but that Sorento is dull as dish mate - public transport would get me more excited 😊

Thanks for this review Matt. Really great content as always. I'm torn between one of these and a Sportage. Just want a decent pound for pound performer for kids, dog and as you say, roughing up a bit. Best wishes 👍

Kia and Hyundai are less forgiving for oil changes. If you delay an oil change, the pick up sieve on the oil pump in the engine sump gets blocked.

We had sister 2013 Santa Fe diesel auto, lots of issues from new, not starting, multiple fuel pump replacements, then when 5 yr warranty expired, aircon went on 45C day and soon after transmission went with 100k km on clock!, Replaced with 2.4l petrol Outlander 7 seater, not 1 issue in 4 years

Ha! I'll bet if you replaced it with ANOTHER Santa Fe - you wouldn't have had any problems with that either.......!!
