The therapist approached the situation really well. She didn’t immediately attack the mother, whilst still educating her about the damage she could have done.
I watched a video of a little girl who was at an unhealthy weight and her mom, instead of putting her down or telling her she needs to lose weight just cooked her healthier food and took her exercise at trampoline parks and playgrounds. She didn't even know she was losing weight she was just having fun. That's how it should be

@flight oflightning absolutely, that's how it should be! anyone who treats their other kids but not their overweight child and brings them ALL to a dessert shop is just mean. the kid can be a diet but still have a treat here and there. being on a diet and not having something you crave once in a while will gonna make you depressed and more likely to break the diet because you're forcing yourself to diet way too hard.. i feel so sorry for any child actually going thru this 😞

it’s okay to want your child to lose weight when they’re unhealthy, but taking ur kid to a donut shop and watch their sibling eat a donut and literally pointing out their insecurities to other strangers is wrong
@Flightstuff exactly. if this were a real situation, the mom should have stayed away from treating food like a reward altogether and taken them to go bowling or something as a reward for good grades.
Health doesn’t make u any cash and kids don’t need 2 worry about that anyway let them be kids enjoy life eat what u want at that age when u reach adulthood and worry about ur aesthetics because either they have 2 make cash or find a mate or both than take action but for now just enjoy being a kid
Body shaming causes: Eating disorders Depression Suicidal thoughts Suicide attempts Severe anxiety Sadness Self hate Lack of confidence And basically killing their personality. Dont do that to people.
@Jillian Leda Yes! Makes no sense to take her kids to a damn donut shop if she's against them eating Unhealthy. At the very least, she should have the heavy girl shopping at her favorite store or something like that. Or better yet.......take them both to a theme park.

Yeah I agree on that it’s kinda dumb she’s at a donut shop and the girl can’t have a donut if she was supposed to be healthy the mom could of reward her good grades by maybe taking her to a trampoline park or the playground instead and fat shaming that’s really bad I once heard a story about a gymnast who was told she was not thin enough and she became a anorexic basically she stopped eating and it killed her
That girl looks 10 years old. If a child is big at a young age then it’s the parents fault. Supporting a healthy diet and going in a diet are different

@@princessazula600 To an extent but as child you eat the food your parents give you and you pick up the habits they teach you. Bruh I scrolled through the comments for 10 minutes straight and nobody’s gonna talk about that old guy that told her she needed to be skinny like her sister?
If you don't know when you're over weight/ obese you start running into alot of medical problems so he tried his best to educate although he knew the mom was being cruel he tried a more gentle approach and using himself as an example to encourage her.🤦🏽♀️ and he spoke nun but facts.
Well she went for the role she’s fat so she can take the far girl role they don’t pick someone they do casting where people go to audition for that role
I think it’s important to stop being afraid of these terms. Some people are fat, some people are skinny. There are heathy fat people and unhealthy skinny people. What’s important is being healthy and honest about who we are. When we’re afraid to acknowledge our own and each others’ weights, it creates more stigma. The only thing that would be wrong about someone’s weight is their health, it shouldn’t be seen as an insult to be fat.
@@Julia-di7pb I 100% agree with you the only reason people feel bad for her getting the “fat girl” role is because of the stigma that has been created as a whole society
I could really tell the first lady was a therapist! She approached mum with so much understanding and gentleness and handled the situation like the pro she is.
I understand where the mom is coming from, my cousin is 200 lbs at 7 years old., but my family would never ever tell her she’s fat, or bring her into a doughnut shop but tell her no doughnuts. In our situation we aren’t worried about her physical image, but her health and mobility.
The way I see it is if your cousin let's say did good in school and got an A's it would not hurt to have a treat cause she earned it. That is why the mom was at the doughnut shop to reward the girls, but its not fair to reward the thin daughter, but not the other daughter when she said she got better grades and she has been healthy all week. Was not fair of the mom. I struggled with weight it can take time. Its all bout monitoring your portions too. If I was that mom yes I would give her 1 doughnut, but that will be her only treat of the day. cause remember kids are still growing too. The mom was sorta right but its not okay to humiliate her daughter and make her feel worse than she already is. She is 8 and who knows she could grow up to be beautiful. The best thing to do is teach kids about portions. I use to be over weight but now i lost 37 pounds. It took me a while but I did it.
my mom used to body shamed me all the time when i was teen, and now i am suffering from eating disorder in my 20s. this video literally breaks my heart into tiny little pieces.
im 14 and have anorexia. im already thin but all i want is more and more, i would never wish this on my worst enemy. shame on those who think its okay to bodyshame, clearly they're insecure too.
Exactly! It's all about moderation! If she's been eating healthy all week and working out, there's no reason why she can't have at least ONE donut (not a whole box) at least once in a while.
If you want your child to loose weight you can’t be so horrible, you need to be supportive. And even if you are a bit fat you can still treat yourself once in a while.
Yes. I think if you have a child that needs to lose weight, you should go on a healthy lifestyle with them and not let them do it alone or even take them to a donut shop when they can't have any unhealthy sweetness.
@Fit Tall Gay Blond Yes child obesity is a thing and very serious. I agree that if a child is obesed that the child then loose weight but then the mother should have been supportive of her you cant go into a shop with donughts and expect her to not want any. The mother should rather then take her to a shop where they sell healthy sweet stuff taht isnt filled with junk.
Fit Tall Gay Blond I see your Point of view, but you can’t take your kids to a doughnut shop and fat-shame one of the kids. Fat shaming is not okay, it leaves a lasting impact on their mental state. If you don’t want one of the kids eating doughnuts, don’t take them. I agree with your point, but not how that mom delivered it.
The first woman’s was unexpected but set a really good example for me. She didn’t yell or go, “What’s wrong with you?” She don’t shame her. She was calm and collected. I respect that.
The worst part is giving the other girl the treat right in front of her face. Dangling it in front of her while the sister gets to have it is just cruel. If one kid is on a diet just don’t take the kids to the donut shop at all, then. And there’s far more constructive ways to have a conversation about weight and healthy eating than publicly insulting your kid and making her feel even worse. I know it’s fake but there are people who act like this out there.
No but this situation does happen in real life. My family used to judge me hard and leave my cousin alone because he was super skinny. Then I got an ED and they were all suddenly like "but your body is perfect" "your beautiful" blah blah because suddenly it was like - oh shit, emotionally abusing a kid affects them negatively??
A few months ago I weighed around 264lbs but have lost 82lbs, I know they are actors but this broke my heart and brought back tough memories for me. You can’t take a child to a sweet shop and tell her she can’t have a donut… that’s just cruel.
The girl who plays the daughter must have really thick skin. If I were to be hired for a role like that, I'd probably feel really insecure. I'm glad so many people came to her defense.
@@christopherstaffordd I would, though. There is a reason they chose her as the "overweight daughter", and it's not because she's rocking a summer body. No amount of money could change someone's self-esteem, and it's not like the girl got a lot of money from a single video on wwyd where she barely has to say anything.
Honestly the man that was saying that she should probably lose weight he didn’t really say it in a bad way, if I saw a woman talking to her daughter like the actress did I would be angry. But if they were being nice about it like the man I totally would agree.
Everyone in the show was so sweet and compassionate especially the older people made who said to the mom “you are making a spectacle of yourself” you can tell they were hurt
I would have cried. I got shamed for eating, and I developed an ED for almost 3 years. It's still a struggle to keep up with recovery, but I am glad that I have gained the weight back.
Yo, same happened to me, even though I never used to eat that much, but at age 8-10, it seems that I developped hormonal issues that made me gain weight, and I was put on several diets until I finally found the one that suited me, at age 17... After a whole year following that diet, and losing a considerable amount of weight, I suddenly started to gain it back, so I thought that I had to start reducing my calorie intake and block the hunger... anorexia kicked in, man, and OMG, it DID have a noticeable impact on me!! I went down to 55 kg, which isn't actually an extremely low weight for me, since I'm only 1,65 m tall, but I was on the edge of the abyss... 😣
If this video was real. That girl could have developed an eating disorder like anerexia when she gets older. It happened to Demi Lovato, Snooki, and a couple other celebrities.
Yeah being overweight is not just about look. Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, even cancer risk goes up for obese people. Not to mention the bully a "big girl" might get at school. But seriously you don't bring your kids to a donut shop and only have one of them getting the sweet unless the child herself chose not to get the donut.
The real parents are the ones responsible for the girls weight. If a kid is becoming a lard o then they are consuming more calories than they are burning. Don't let them do that. Problem solved.
If I Had A Mother Like That And A Father Like That I Would Probably Constantly Push Them Out Of My Life And Go Find A Better Suited Place For Myself To Live Where I Have The Freedom To Eat Whatever I Want Or Choose To Eat
The fact that the little girl is actually bigger than them us saddening and you better have talked to her respectfully because she’s being used to “act” she deserves the world for being in this video period 🥇.
@@jj2059 There is a difference between body acceptance and building a false sense of pride where it shouldn't be. Loathing yourself and fearing death because of a treat is absolutely not a starting point to loose weight as a child.

That therapist is so good with handling this situation. It’s crazy, she even said she was trying to understand what the mother was thinking. More people need to take in others points of views before judging and criticizing them. And the older man that supports the girls weight loss. Other people almost encourage her body type, but not that man he is honest and tells his personal experiences of having problems with weight, the mom just needs to encourage her in a better way.
Are you kidding me? That therapist is too woke and she is not a very good therapist. Sometimes tough love is needed. The mum in the video went overboard, but she wasn't that wrong. That therapist is way too soft, she's not good enough.
When the old man is telling her that she should keep the weight off and agrees with her mom you can tell the bigger kid is holding in tears. Her throat starts to tremble and you can see a little water in her eyes. I feel bad for her. 5:15
Ferxani Eh all reality shows are fake I can’t confirm WWYD is real nor fake I can’t really give an opinion I am just saying I would expect John to pop up if there was a WWYD poster
So many of you in these comments scare me. The most obvious point of this scenario was that this beautiful, young girl was indeed overweight for her age, BUT there are far more better ways to confront your child about their diet & weight. Those shaming words will be far more scarring than not getting a doughnut. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it & most importantly, WHO it comes from. You can give HONESTY to your child without shaming them. No one was “encouraging” her to remain overweight. Those who came to her defense knew that one doughnut wasn’t going to hurt as much as the acting mom’s harsh words trying to enforce a diet... & as already stated by one of the defenders... you don’t take a child to the doughnut shop, buy something for your other child & tell the other one no, no matter what the reason is.
Watching these is so cathartic. My father used to criticise me like this in public and bully me relentlessly about what I was allowed to eat. By the time I was seven I already had awful body dysmorphia but when I look at photographs of myself I can see I was genuinely 100% normal sized for a child. Seeing people stick up for kids going through the same thing, even when they're just actors, seriously heals me in the noggin lol
So did you make yourself get fat? Then whose problem do you think it is? I'm sorry, but sometimes we as a society, for some weird reason, are too soft and too encouraging on fat people. Look, any decent doctor would tell you that being fat is unhealthy and it takes a toll on the body. Encouraging fat people to lose weight and to eat healthier food so that they live longer and have better lives is not a bad thing. People act like being fat is something someone is born with (like ethnicity, eye colour, hair colour) when that simply isn't the case. Being too thin is bad, and being fat is bad too. The BMI index usually gives a good idea of who has a healthy mass and who doesn't.
The mom in the video hardly did anything wrong. The daughter is at fault for messing up her body like that in the first place. The thin daughter seems to have more self-control and she seems to be eating more healthier foods than the fat daughter. The fat daughter was begging for an unhealthy doughnut, and the mother is right in not giving one to her. At least the mother gave her a healthy alternative i.e. the kale chips. I know that the daughter did a great thing in getting an A plus, and she should be treated for getting such a good grade, but not by giving her unhealthy junk food to eat...her body can't handle that, it's not healthy for someone of her weight. Maybe a trip to the cinemas would be a good treat, or a shopping trip for clothes, or a special DVD or some toys or something...but giving her junk food like McDonald's or a doughnut are just bad options, it's worsening the problem. However, the mother's use of language was too rude and she should've been less harsh. The daughter must eat healthier foods though, and she has to cut down on the fat and sugar.
My dad used to call me a cow when I was little because our mother left and my grandma used to compensate and show extra love by feeding us more. She now does the same with my little sister and my dad does the same with her. It's hard growing up thinking you are fat, then learning you have a disorder that actually stops you from keeping weight off. I actually was suicidal and depressed from a young age due to body image. Don't hurt your child or compare them to your other "perfect" kids or people's children. You may think you're helping them but you are not.
I was chubby as a child, got most comments from kids in school. Got Anorexia by the time I was 13. Took around 15 years to reach normal weight. But once you have those thoughts around weight so close every day.. they never leaves your mind. I am so happy you bring light to this subject ❤
@BUFF MINER ζ⃠ rude comments on someones appearance or weight, especially when they are a kid can lead to someone not eating as much because they now have the mentality that food=fat , and fat=bad. i was bullied as a child for being on the heavier side, but that affected my mindset a lot and led me to believing that any and all food would make me fat, and if i was fat, i was unlikable. Anorexia can be caused by many things however, like trauma, OCD , or gender dysphoria.
@BUFF MINER ζ⃠ that would be arfid i think, its another eating disorder. its not really mental or focused on control, but its kind of like picky eating to the max where people just refuse to eat certain foods out of fear of texture/taste/smell. its mostly with kids who have autism or ocd
me too. crazy how one kid calling me fat caused an eating disorder for the next 10 years. people really need to think abt what they say, especially to kids.
"she would be happier if she's thinner." when i was in 5th grade i thought the same thing. so i started starving myself. that lasted for 2 years and my parents never found out. i was miserable all the time, but i was thin. i realized it wasn't worth it after i nearly passed out in gym class. i'm definitely not thin now. i have big thighs and some stomach fat, but i'd rather be fat and happy than skinny and miserable. from that i've gained confidence in myself. i don't worry about what other people think, because i believe confidence makes up half of a person's beauty. if all i have going for myself is confidence then at least i'm 50% beautiful, and 50% is good enough for me.
Not everyone gets an ED because they "care about what other people think". I had an ED for 15 yrs and I'm GLAD I did. It was the only thing I was good at and kept me from killing myself. Ironically I'm alive today because I developed an ED as a coping mechanism.
I was in the same situation in 7th grade. Diet super hard because of kids dissing me. Stopped drinking milk too for nearly 3 years. Was somewhat angry at parents at the time for never telling me to slow down on food. and Though early weight loss I got compliments, and through the compliments powered me, I did not feel as hungry, though my height seemed to be slowed. Went to a doctor and told me to eat again, then managed to grow to that of average height in high school. Best shape of my life when I was 23, with abs slightly showing but eating whatever I want and looked somewhat bulky. After that, it was down hill body shape.

gotta do something about that, cousin is on track to end up on tlc 600 lb life
That is extremely concerning

Ye it’s ok to have a wee chocolate bar everyday if ur on a diet
emmzzystar not everyday, but every once in a while
@Fit Tall Gay Blond Yes child obesity is a thing and very serious.
Emily Dahlin exactly. No problem with being put on a diet but the mum shouldn’t shove donuts in front of her and except her not to want one.
Your right. When the mom says you have to look like your sister it's just so wrong it sounds like her sister is better or something
The mom was in the wrong but the daughter needed to be told no. But she shouldn’t of given her carrots or brought her to the store in the first place.
Emily Dahlin agree this f***ing dum but They just actors what is this is real this is what I would do
No but this situation does happen in real life.

@@christopherstaffordd I would, though. There is a reason they chose her as the "overweight daughter", and it's not because she's rocking a summer body.
Congratulations on your recovery journey
If this video was real. That girl could have developed an eating disorder like anerexia when she gets older. It happened to Demi Lovato, Snooki, and a couple other celebrities.
Loser ed are fake
Yeah same but my mother actually treats me differently with my siblings and it actually just puts me off and started gaining insecurities and stuff.
Mom is trying to make her daughter healthier, but the way she does it is wrong.
Yes she shouldn’t be fat Shame her but she definitely should encourage her in losing weight in a nice way
Yeah being overweight is not just about look.
If she wants her to be healthier just limit her sugar and make sure she stays active

Yeah honestly hahaha
Watching these is so cathartic. My father used to criticise me like this in public and bully me relentlessly about what I was allowed to eat. By the time I was seven I already had awful body dysmorphia but when I look at photographs of myself I can see I was genuinely 100% normal sized for a child. Seeing people stick up for kids going through the same thing, even when they're just actors, seriously heals me in the noggin lol
Needless to say, you were probably overweight, I hope that you actually lost weight and realize that this is wrong
Except this girl is not normal size and she seriously does need to diet.
@BUFF MINER
ζ⃠ rude comments on someones appearance or weight, especially when they are a kid can lead to someone not eating as much because they now have the mentality that food=fat , and fat=bad. i was bullied as a child for being on the heavier side, but that affected my mindset a lot and led me to believing that any and all food would make me fat, and if i was fat, i was unlikable. Anorexia can be caused by many things however, like trauma, OCD , or gender dysphoria.
@BUFF MINER
ζ⃠ that would be arfid i think, its another eating disorder. its not really mental or focused on control, but its kind of like picky eating to the max where people just refuse to eat certain foods out of fear of texture/taste/smell. its mostly with kids who have autism or ocd
me too. crazy how one kid calling me fat caused an eating disorder for the next 10 years. people really need to think abt what they say, especially to kids.
I’m so sorry my love. I hope you’re doing well now and you are such a beautiful person, inside and out. ❤❤❤
"she would be happier if she's thinner."
when i was in 5th grade i thought the same thing. so i started starving myself. that lasted for 2 years and my parents never found out. i was miserable all the time, but i was thin. i realized it wasn't worth it after i nearly passed out in gym class. i'm definitely not thin now. i have big thighs and some stomach fat, but i'd rather be fat and happy than skinny and miserable. from that i've gained confidence in myself. i don't worry about what other people think, because i believe confidence makes up half of a person's beauty. if all i have going for myself is confidence then at least i'm 50% beautiful, and 50% is good enough for me.
Me too, I got bulimia for 5 years.... because of my mom and her attitude.....
Not everyone gets an ED because they "care about what other people think". I had an ED for 15 yrs and I'm GLAD I did. It was the only thing I was good at and kept me from killing myself. Ironically I'm alive today because I developed an ED as a coping mechanism.
Your 100% you which *is* beautiful and stomach fat and large thighs are normal bby
Nope your 100% gorgeous
New scenario: Mum forces daughter to apply to be the fat kid on WWYD
Holly Ellis i died reading this
Yeet. Doubt that happened but lol
Let's see how people would react
Nobody forced her she maybe gained weight for the role most professional actors/'actresses do.
@@usersareoverrated5652 Lmao what a ridiculous comment. Yes, professional ADULT actors do, but not child actors. That child was definitely that weight for a long time, even before she got the acting job for WWYD...she didn't make weight just to be in that WWYD role, lol.
Even though this is just acting, I can't help but wonder how that girl really feels hearing these remarks about her..
I really liked the guy who shared his own struggles. He seemed to be giving real advise to the little girl in a very nice and sincere way. :)
Penelope Yes, I disagreed with other people encouraging giving her the doughnut. I agree overweight people should actively try to lead a healthier lifestyle but the mother is completely wrong with her toxicity and the people giving doughnuts are wrong by encouraging her to not change unhealthy ways.
@@mattglasgow4383 Firstly the people are not too blame they didn't tell the mum to bring the girls to the doughnut shop. It's on the mother she should have took her to a Frozen yogurt bar instead. Clearly your IQ is low do you think thin ppl just eat rabbit food? Skinny ppl eat what they want but less of it even when thin ppl do binge eat on sugar its cause they have a faster metabolism. Overweight ppl need to learn about minimizing their intake. 1 doughnut in moderation is fine

okay getting hired as the "fat daughter" is... are you serious? as a child?
Someone has to do it. Plus she accepted and agreed to it so. Plsu theyre getting payed
@@zion2794 child actors do not accept and decline roles. It's up to their parents.
Bumbleboar It’s not up to their parents- They audition for roles and if they get the role then they can say whether or not they want the role
@@exaclibur1 so youre saying her mother forced her to do it against her will? Is that what youre saying? If that was true, she wouldnt have acted so well.
@@crayraevlogs8629 if your overweight im pretty sure your going to know your overweight. She acted well so im sure she agreed
My mom had me on a diet too. Made my life better. She would have never taken my sister and me to a Donut store though. We would never get Donuts or anything but praise for good grades.

I went through this as a child and five minutes in just broke down into tears. I know the impact these words can have..
I got to say this I honestly love the guy at the end. With the tattoos because he was 100% right straight to the point with what he wants to say.
6:50 I love this man. He’ll make and already is a great father if he thinks this way, body shaming is never okay and you can tell that he will love her no matter what she looks like.
The man in the back is a father of a daughter
Welp, he could love his daughter a bit toooo much, y'know, spoiling? Then the result would be quite.... bad
its not about loving and stuff like that
the kid could have serious health issues leading to death too
theres no body shaming or body praising in that kind of situation
@@jeeva1701 yeah serious issues like anorexia and bulimia, that would kill her way faster than being fat
Poor her
that therapists’ advise was great! 🙌🏻
I’m sure the “overweight” actress is a professional, even at her age, and can take being cast in this role. I always admire people who can do that.
Hi
She's obese say it
@@estebreu why are you even watching this video??
Yeah, I feel sorry for the actress being that young and knowing she got chosen just for being heavy. ☹️

as someone who struggles with body imagine, hearing your parent tear you down for your eating habits or comment on your body makes you feel even worse. the best encouragement is support.
This was done to me about the age of 7-8 years old , I was put on the diet, while my brother and rest of my family had icecream ,cookies ext.. after years of always being told I was fat and chubby I developed an eating disorder when I was 12, which still now at 38 years old I struggle with each and every day and also led to so many other issues. Ppl think if they call out the obvious that it’ll all of a sudden make the other person change ..: not how to do it.
As a psych student it was really nice to see that first lady step in.
Therapists are not really allowed to give advice on what to do and really just listen. Ultimately leaving the decision making to the client (in this case the mom actor) to take a look at the perspective of the actor playing the daughter.
Really cool to see it in action!
Imagine acting as the “fat girl” ....she must feel really bad...
Seydi Caner yea
