Are you implying that I shouldn’t think it’s cool there is a fan, because it’s an ancient processor, and because it’s ancient it’s not as efficient which causes more heat build up, so the fan is required because it’s old, as opposed to just being a more powerful chip that requires cooling? Maybe also implying that there are more powerful and capable chips that don’t even require cooling, but if they do at least it would make since to put a fan on in that case?
@@jar768jake I kinda meant the first. T618 is known to get very hot, that's probably why it has a fan. It's not a gaming chip but apparently there's still trucks full of them considering how many handhelds use it.
I love these dmg-style handhelds, but I think I'll hold out until something like wii (SMG2 in the thumbnail lol) and most of the ps2 ones are at least playable, until then I'm fine with my miyoo mini + steam deck combo
Definitely different strokes man, I literally cannot stand the look of this device, the chunky look as a major turnoff and the analog sticks look horrible to me. Functionality I'm sure is great, but I just couldn't stand walking around with this thing.
Maybe with NetherSX2 it'd work better, I was getting 23 fps upscaling x4 and with that modified version I got 30 on x5 😉 good luck, nice video and great work 👍
Would be nice to maybe see the best case scenario with the 'unplayable' list there... for example seeing what settings would get F-Zero GX running as smooth as possible on the device. A video like that would be interesting.
This is exactly what i'm thinking. I own the RG35XX and everytime i look at one of these retro handhelds, my brain just goes "or you could get a steam deck and you're set".
Love the functionality, really don't like the look. Probably won't be picking this one up. Then again I'm really not that interested in playing anything beyond PS1, so for me the 35XX is enough, and much more of a looker too.
i bet this or the 405m would both be great for watching old tv shows from the 80s 90s and early 2000s that are in a 4:3 aspect ratio like most of tubi's tv show library lol
I'm still considering the RG35XX for its nostalgic game boy form factor. Plus, the game library for anything beyond PS1 is not fully optimised for these devices. Unless PS2 and GameCube emulations are what you're looking for, 35XX is a great choice imo.
Don't worry you are in good hands. The RG35XX could handles everything upto the PS1 perfectly. Now you just sit back, work your way through all the NES, SNES, PS1, GB/GBC/GBA, Arcade classics (and that library should keep you occupied for a long time) until something comes along that could handles PS2/PSP/NDS/3DS perfectly.

As far as the console itself; if it had a SIM slot it'd be my daily driver phone. It's got plenty of power, runs reasonably new version of Android, has a large enough screen, and I like the size + form factor. Also; I'm a sucker for a cooling fan. The only knitpick that I have is not having analog triggers. Dreamcast, PS2, and GameCube all had games that made use of them and it's mildly annoying that this doesn't. Still, most didn't and, at least with Dreamcast, I can map them to the right stick if needed (like with certain racers).

I just got my Anbernic rg405v.. the Retroid pocket 3 plus is better.. playstation 2 emulator and GameCube emulator is harder to emulate.. Retroid pocket 4 pro is what I am going after next week 😂😂😂😂

I only see one problem with this unit, no analog shoulder triggers. I would argue that the Retroid Pocket 2s set the baseline for basic controls that really do need to be included with emulation devices now that were fast approaching high fidelity PS2 and GameCube emulation.
rgb10 max 2 has the perfect form factor for me..... im just waiting for that power jump where its possible to do ps2 game cube etc well for about the $£100 - £$120 price point i thought the retroid 3+ was it but then i heard it wasnt as good as the 2!??... but tempted to get the miyoo mini plus as a vertical as everyoneseems to be singing its praises
@@antwango I like a nice vertical but I've really big hands and a horizontal form factor is just better for me. I've the Retroid Pocket Flip and the Retroid Pocket 3+ Metal iteration and they both really kick it in the ergonomics as both units are quite comfortable for longer playing sessions. I've been loving playing the DS on the Flip. Bloody brilliant. No second screen but no device is perfect, not even the OG DS.
i cant believe it doesnt have an hdmi out like the RG35XX. what point is having a device that can emulate N64, GameCube and PS2 if it can't connect to a tv?

Why they choose to put a fan cooling on a bad chip instead of a snap 7gen2 or any qualcomm chip in the last 3 years. Im happy to see a 4 inch gameboy style but I will wait a year again. Better resolution and better chip. No fan cooling its bad for the life of the console.

I’m not sure I’d purchase this unless money isn’t an issue, and you want this thing for the novelty. The form factor is weird. It’s bigger than the original Gameboy, and for the price you can easily get a RP3+.

I mean, there was a point where these handhelds were getting better and better. Now they're just regurgitating the same old shit over and over. We've already had these processors we've already had handhelds That look like this That can do everything this can do. Why build another one when your last 1 does everything this does? If they would give it a better processor more Ram and be the end, all be all with PlayStation game cube Then we're talking, there's a reason to upgrade. There's no reason to make another hand held, if you're just putting the same processor as your last one, there's no point in even making another model. At this point, they're just making new models just to do it. They don't do anything different than the are last ones. There's no real improvements. You're just going to pay more, so you might as well get The last model or even the model before that. Because the last 4 or 5 models been running the same processors They've been recycling, regurgitating all their handhelds over and over.

I bought a miyoo mini plus and felt it was a little too small for my hands so this should be perfect.

Analog triggers are okay for racing games and worse for... absolutely everything else, where the trigger is simply treated as a button.

5500mah battery is capable of 9+ hours not 7 !
My old rg353v with 3200mah was capable of almost 7 hours and its 2300mah less
rg505 can do 20h with powersafe so I'm sure it's way more
