In 1977 I was lucky enough to see Stephanie Mills sing this on Broadway in the Wiz. She is fantastic!
This is her song! It is what made her famous. Stephanie originated the role of Dorothy in “The Wiz” at age 16 or 17 on Broadway in the 1970s. She kilt it right here.
She blew the roof off of the Building thank you for reacting to this she is amazing one of the most amazing singers ever!!!

Gave you a thumbs up on the video because it's a Stephanie Mills reaction, and there is no one like her. Have seen her perform in concert and it's in the top 10 concerts for me, and I have been to a lot of concerts.
However with you being a self-proclaimed big Stephanie Mills fan, I am amazed that you didn't know that this IS her song. She didn't "make it her own" ... she's the first person to have ever sung it, when she debuted as Dorothy in the Broadway musical The Wiz, at the age of 17 when it opened on Broadway on January 5, 1975 at the Winter Garden Theater (The Wiz being an all black cast, musical version of the Wizard of Oz). It was revolutionary for Broadway and went on to win 7 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
That knowledge and discussion of it would have made your reaction more interesting, comprehensive and accurate.
Also I personally find it kind of creepy and egotistical for you to stare into the camera/audience during the reaction. Maybe that's just me.

Mr. Pat something kind of caught my attention. From what u said, u said that Stephanie made this song her own version. But this is STEPHANIE'S song. She is the 1st to have EVER SUNG this song.
I dont know if u know this but Stephanie is the ORIGINAL DOROTHY from the BROADWAY SHOW THE WIZ back in the EARLY 70's, which is the Black version of the Wizard of Oz.
This song was created just for her as the Role of Dorothy at the age of 15 which is a role that she did not want to audition for because she was tired of auditioning for roles and not getting them but her mother made her go and because of that, this is what we have today.
Stephanie as a child Mesmorized the Broadway audience when she came out because NO ONE had ever heard a voice like hers back in those days.
So just to let u know this song is hers and all versions afterwards are people trying to capture what she 1st created.
Oh and also, She was supposed to play the role of Dorothy in the Movie THE WIZ but Diana Ross wanted it and because Diana was so famous back then they gave the role to her which ruined the success of the movie.
