That's James Ingram's kid brother Philip Ingram on guitar solo. RIP Bobby and Tommy DeBarge.
RIP BOBBY and Tommy Debarge. They were brothers and members of Switch. The whole band was talented and they all could play multiple instruments.
♥️
Best beat in town.
As a preteen I used to have my small radio and listen to music at night while I was in bed! Herb Kent used to play all the slow jams and this was a classic!
And sing!
And still in 2023 this song reign. Love this Joint 4life
🔥🔥💯💯💯
Bobby Debarge was a bad boy, he was, one of the greatest falsetto voices, of all times.
One of the cleanest and highest male falsetto voices of all-time. Honestly, I haven't ever heard one as high and as clean in that range for a man.
@shahidmustaf4587 You're right. Also look into Wayne Cooper of Cameo in their early years. His falsetto was just like Bobby's. Listen to Cameo's "Why have I lost you"..His high notes were also incredible! He passed away from drug use, early in the early 80's. 👍🏾👌🏾🎵🎵✌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
@theguy8665 yes I know about Wayne Cooper...of cameo also, a bad man with the falsetto voice, i love the song "why have I lost you" Wayne C rocked it.
This used to be one of my favorite songs back in the day, I used to listen to their entire album over and over. Great group.
This is STILL the best song I have ever heard. I am old enough to remember when this song was first released in 1978. Great reaction
We lost our minds when Switch came out and we saw them omg on Soul Train talk about screaming ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
RIP to Bobby and Tommy DeBarge, Switch and the talented DeBarge family. Also shout-out to Phillip Ingram founding member and song writer/producer of Switch and brother of singer/songwriterJames Ingram(RIP).
RIP to Bobby and Tommy DeBarge(bass player) of Switch.
Great reaction!! Fun fact: The guitarist is James Ingram's brother Phillip.
He got a good voice too
This song is a Hand Dance Classic!!
Always puts me in a better mood. Every time. Bobby such a sweetheart.
Bobby taught his younger brother El DeBarge how to sing.
What a walk down memory lane---thank you! We used to watch Soul Train every saturday morning while cleaning the house.
Bobby debarge the puriest first tenor ever
🙌🏾♥️
and strong and clear falsetto!!
Sorry that's not a falsetto he's a natural first tenor as well as el debarge
Loving yall reactions to such a very touching talented singer.
This song was how both of you were proberly how you both were created lol. This kind of music moved people back in the day.
Thanks for sharing.
I was in the 9th grade when this song came out. I remember slow dragging to this song at the dance in the school cafeteria

The DeBarge family were heavy drug users because from the age of very Young children their white father used to abuse them severely. All of the DeBarge children, there black mother who was a great singer trained them and taught them how to sing from very tender young ages as little children. but their white father used to abused them and their mother. Finally their mother's brother's got tired of the father abusing the mother and the children and they beat the father up. From that day forward, the father never abused them ever again. By that time the abuse was so severe that the DeBarge children started to drown their sorrows in drug abuse to escape years of pain. Sadly, some of the DeBarge family members died from drug abuse. And the lead singer of switch was one of them.
Old story. We don't want to hash over it . Here for the music only. The DeBarge family is trying to heal from all that. LET IT LIE BURIED AS ON HIS DEATH BED BOBBY WANTED THINGS TO LAY N BE BURIED N ALL START ANEW 🙏🙏🙏 RIP BOBBY. MAY YOUR REQUEST BE GRANTED
We're here for the music
@@chillwill7393 yes,! We're here for the music. But the history that I gave of the family and their experiences is what shaped the music that we're here for and enjoy so much.
You guys should do a react to their song I Wanna Be Closer!!!
Love them!
Bobby DeBarge lead singer
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
Thank you for this! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
One of my favorite songs 🔥🔥🔥
Highest of the high! 💯🔥
That's my joint. Like the review. Jackson 5 and Sly & The Family Stone are 2 memorable ones also.
🙌🏾♥️
Check out Jourdain Wong. He's singing in a yellow shirt. No one can tell me that no Bobby DeBarge reincarnated ❤️ Mr Wong is a attorney, song writer, knows different languages, and he's half Chinese 🌺 remember the yellow shirt...
THIZ IZ A FANTASTIC BAND, LOV THEZE BROTHAS, BOBBY N TOMMY R EL' OLDER BROTHAS, PEACE B UPON THEM ...
Good slow dancing music when I was a young😂
Soul Train was limp synced. These guys were special.
another one from the past!
No words were ever more the truth !! I always wondered about playing a instrument and dancing and singing . She said the truth ! Something but to be off yall . Exactly what I would say to my band members . Dont get mad when this comes out on TV ...... Something but to be off yall !
OUR MUSIC WHEN I WAS A KID WAS THE SHIT THERE GOING BACKWARDS LISTENING TOO WHAT THEY DON'T HAVE TODAY
THE BROTHER IS TOTALLY CONFUSED LMMFA
I Have The Very Best Of Switch,All Their Hits 😊
Boby 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Debarge is one of the most talented families that has ever live don this earth! The dysfunction aspect of the family really stopped them from being greater!!!
Agreed♥️
I was deeply sadden and heartbroken when I watched their story on Unsung! Singing they were probably on par with the Jackson but the drugs and other things really hurt their family!
They don’t know about that SWITCH
Only one could sing this.
They could have easily been the Bee Gees if not for Bobby's addiction
Bobby didn't get the love deserve!
Somethins gonna be off the Steps or the Notes LMBAO ... I'm putting that on a Tee Shirt
I heard a rumor that I Call Your Name, was inspired by LaToya Jackson. I don't know if the two ever dated or Bobby just had an uber crush on LaToya..
The one playing the guitar & dancing is James Ingram’s brother, Phillip. 😎
brother Philip is tremendously talented and most importantly, God fearing and very spiritual
El debarge sounds just like him when he sings this song the guy singing is the oldest brother to the debarge group there’s also another older brother in this group as well the whole family is talented including their mom who taught them all how to sing check out el debarge singing this song their voices are pretty much identical
You're so right. Bobby's falsetto was a bit better. He could sing higher than El. However El can hold his own.
Call On Me is another banger by Switch to check out!
You didn't know men had vocal range???? Wow.
Playing and singing at the same time usually means you're gifted. Even the great BB King never did it.
your right, Motown did have a Roster of great black Artist. the problem was MANY of those white executives were destroying that company from within, through Mis-Management. and stealing MILLIONS of dollars over 2 decades. black scholars/historians, who write about Motown. don't mention this history/Motown was a company being Mis-Managed FOR YEARS!!!! that's why Berry Gordy had to sale it back in 1988. the Company was going BROKE. white folks did a job on that company.
Love this reaction! 😭 Can you guys react to Chaka Khan everlasting love live 🙏🏾
Check out cameo listen to why have I lost you!
If you think they’re hidden notes, listen to the brothers Gibb or the Bee Gees in night fever
El debarge stole Bobby’s style. Listen to El and Bobby they sound exactly a like
