James Ingram's kid brother is the keyboardist, Phillip Ingram. Phillip sings lead on I Want to Be Closer Than Close. RIP Bobby and Tommy DeBarge.

There never be another group like Switch. It is 2023, and I'm still listening 🎶 to this song like it just came out. I was 15 years old when this song came out. God has been so good ❤.

Switch, DeBarge were super stars in our world. Just because certain groups did not believe it or give proper respect to another super star family is not relevant. Thank you DeBarge family for giving us memorable music.

Switch was unique in their sound. The two brothers of the group were Bobby DeBarge and Tommy DeBarge. If I remember correctly they came from a family of nine siblings. Unfortunately their family history is one of a lot of tragedy. As kids they sang in church and later the siblings formed together as a group 'DeBarge'. They had a number of hit songs together.

Bobby was cold blooded. Ask them Gibbs brothers. If Switch could have made it over the hump they would’ve given The Bee Gees a run for their money!

At the time there were no tricks. Bobby doubled his vocal in the studio we used two tracks. All the instruments are real no computers. I was there for every album they made from drum tracks to the icing on the cake. Those great Gene Page string sessions.

RIP Bobby and Tommy DeBarge. Bobby's smooth falsetto voice inspired his younger brother El DeBarge of the DeBarge family.

Lead singer is Bobby DeBarge, eldest brother of El DeBarge & the DeBarge family. ‘Bruno chores’ is an odd term seeing as how this band came decades before, but I guess we know what you meant. Surely this group is part of the influence for Bruno, Andy Paak & any others who Rep old school r&b groove & funk. Of course none of this happens without the iconic best at it, Earth, Wind and Fire. When you hear the DeBarge family sing, the family vocal sound is evident. Bobby was also producer & probably original bassist on the recording. He unfortunately passed on tragically @ age 39 in ‘95. Life was never easy on the DeBarge family, but El keeps it going. They have their place in soul pop music history for sure. Real singers, real music & real musicians. The guitarist’s style is reminiscent of Al McKay of EWF, & maybe more so, studio con, Eric Gayle, of the band, Stuff. Nice reaction. 👍

There’ll never be a group quite like Switch! The epitome of soulful R&B! Their sound endures and is just as amazing today. The group included Gregory Williams, 2 of the tremendous DeBarge siblings, Tommy DeBarge and Bobby DeBarge, all from Grand Rapids, Michigan, along with Akron, Ohio natives Phillip Ingram (brother of James Ingram), Eddie Fluellen, and Jody Sims (originally from Steubenville, Ohio).

I have so much love for the DeBarge family. They are uber talented, I believe more than the Jackson (my personal believe). Switch and music group DeBarge were signed to Motown also. They had such a rough home situation yet still managed to make some of the most beautiful music. They are not a story of tragedy, but a story of perseverance. What God has place into you, no evil can destroy no matter what.

They doubled the lead vocals and his brother is singing with the background vocalists to add a different but similar sound.

Bobby was the first Debarge to make it. His brother was on bass guitar and Bobby wrote most the music, he dated Latoya Jackson during this time. Jermain Jackson discovered this group. The were called Switch, because they would all switch to different instructment depending on which song they were playing. Unfortunately, Bobby drug use killed the group.

Probably not a doubler, but it probably is his brother. The two leads are Debarge brothers. They came out 1st with Switch the the rest of the family came out as a group later on.
