Colony PCR: save time in DNA Cloning

Molecular Cloning involves fusing different pieces of DNA into recombinant plasmids, and it can be a very hit or miss process. Even if you use a tried and true cloning strategy you may still need to screen hundreds of colonies before isolating your recombinant plasmid. This video talks through the basics behind molecular cloning, with an emphasis on Colony PCR - a high throughput technique that allows scientists to isolate recombinant DNA by quickly screening hundreds of bacterial colonies.
