#035: The Hardest Part of Being a Scientist?
Просмотров 638 месяцев назад
I’ve been closely following all of the Science Headlines in the news on a daily basis for the past 18 months. My observation of where all this is going is… not great. Every article is a random scatter of topics with no clear long-term messaging behind it. Is this reflective of audience appetite and the general fatigue around science reporting, or a flawed strategy in science communication? In E...

I did the gen 4 and im scared 😱
Non-vegan animal-based products should be illegal full-stop (cultured meats would be considered vegan). Why should we have the right to violate the well-being of innocent sentient entities against their will, that wish to live without suffering as we do? There is an inherent transgression against a sentient entity, and therefore, it is not a personal choice. It is hypocritical to put another in a position, that you, yourself would not substitute with all for the momentary pleasure of the taste buds. People are against arbitrary discrimination when it comes to race, class, sex etc., then weaponize the same prejudice pejorative against other species. There is no trait true of animals, if true of humans that would morally justify the same atrocity.
meaning that if i want to take 20ul volume i should just push the plunger at the first stop not the second stop ?
I don't believe that Ha means to imitate. When you imitate, you are still learning, that's why you imitate. Ha means to break. After you have learned the basics, Ha means you have enough knowledge to break from the basics.
Thanks
Amazing
You've shared really great information and really great tips about how to pipette.😊😊 I am doing a undergrad research in my college and I am currently working on getting accurate results with pipetting. (which aren't so accurate!!) However I am still working on them and I hope to get comfortable with pipetting. Thank You for sharing such great info!! Wish me luck for my research.
Good luck with the project!
I'm making 10 or 15ul total, is that ok?
Probably more likely for errors to happen. Make a bigger total volume in a mastermix
nah bro what ze fruck Appel maps
lol it’s still here
goated
Thanks
What the vocal fry is going on? She sounds like she's been intubated. Tell her to raise her head a bit 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for these videos
Glad you like them!
Ask yourself this, 5-10 years from now, if I am a teen, why would I go to a human teacher when I can go any information I want from AI online, way faster, more accurate . Yes some people still want interaction with human bla bla bla, that’s probably going to be about 29-25%, but can colleges survive with enrollment that low..
I don't think any teen would see the value, and colleges won't survive like this. The path to employment will be even trickier than it is now
Very interesting video! I actually came here after reading part of the novel "The Andromeda Strain" which talked about this exact strain being able to survive an atomic detonation and even benefiting from it as a rich growth medium, which really dazzled me!
Thanks for watching - there's is a lot of great science fiction out there
Great video. 😮 Sir, what could have gone wrong if blank (control) has a higher reading (O.D.) value than the standard but they have same color visually.
Your blank has been contaminated? The reading should be a lot lower
Ya but they were quiet and didn't bother anybody which was one of the real goals
Amazing
Your stats on Australian ev cars may be true but I personally know of a battery bank fire at Byron bay hospital and a major fire at the electric bike business in Mullumbimby last year.i know the fire fighter who attended both
Let’s see how the individual cases add up over time
yes because travelling in the firstplace or just vaccation !
Sure thing
When and why we use 660 nm??
Depends on the color output at the end?
can't see how u pressing 😁😁😁
Ah shorts isn’t perfect. The full horizontal video shows more detail
You think because you spent 100k in medical school you deserve 20k a month salary? Get real
Some doctors do, depends on the country and specialty? Money alone is not the reason to get into medicine though, a lot of hard work and luck is needed
You obv have no idea what you're talking about, a nurse is getting at least 4-6k a month.. most Dr. Are getting 10k + .. people who have specialist fields are easily looking at 20k a month
Your videos are really well-made wow, I was surprised to see your subcount
Thanks for watching! Science content is pretty niche by definition, not usually made for mass consumption
Thank you! Is there any benefit against viruses with lysozyme?
Unless the viruses infect bacteria (which are killed by lysozyme) there’s not a direct effect no
I am pharmacist from India
Thanks for watching
Wikipedia says: Enhancing performance Methylphenidate [i.e. Ritalin]'s efficacy as an athletic performance enhancer, cognitive enhancer, aphrodisiac, and euphoriant is supported by research.[61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68][69] However, the manner in which methylphenidate is used for these purposes (high dosages, alternate routes of administration, during sleep deprivation, etc.) can result in severe unintended side effects.[70][71][69] A 2015 review found that therapeutic doses of amphetamine and methylphenidate result in modest improvements in cognition, including working memory, episodic memory, and inhibitory control, in normal healthy adults;[72][a][73][b] the cognition-enhancing effects of these drugs are known to occur through the indirect activation of both dopamine receptor D1 and adrenoceptor α2 in the prefrontal cortex.[72] Methylphenidate and other ADHD stimulants also improve task saliency and increase arousal.[74][75] Stimulants such as amphetamine and methylphenidate can improve performance on difficult and boring tasks,[74][c][75][76] and are used by some students as a study and test-taking aid.[47][77] Based upon studies of self-reported illicit stimulant use, performance-enhancing use rather than use as a recreational drug, is the primary reason that students use stimulants.[78] Excessive doses of methylphenidate, above the therapeutic range, can interfere with working memory and cognitive control.[74][75] Like amphetamine and bupropion, methylphenidate increases stamina and endurance in humans primarily through reuptake inhibition of dopamine in the central nervous system.[79] Similar to the loss of cognitive enhancement when using large amounts, large doses of methylphenidate can induce side effects that impair athletic performance, such as rhabdomyolysis and hyperthermia.[12] While literature suggests it might improve cognition, most authors agree that using the drug as a study aid when an ADHD diagnosis is not present does not actually improve GPA.[47] Moreover, it has been suggested that students who use the drug for studying may be self-medicating for potentially deeper underlying issues.[47]
Hey I am going to study Quantative Biology. A minor part of that degree is Bioinformatics, the majority is traditional biology. I fear I am not going to be qualified enough in data science. What would you recommand me to get more proficient in the area of informatics?
Volunteering or interning in research projects is the best way of getting experience. Computer science and programming can mostly be learnt online, have a chat to your lecturers to see what resources they recommend first? Most scientists I know would appreciate this kind of attitude and you’ll stand out from the crowd
When you said "in science, your job is very different from other jobs because it's a combination of hands-on skills with theoretical understanding... You have to kind of make up the job you wanna do...that job that no one has done before..for those having a difficult time in science and trying all these troubleshooting skills...and not sure if you're really good at it or getting better at it" I couldn't agree more! I've struggled in the early stages of each role that i've had. Often times seems difficult to find resources online to gain clarification on instructions on complex subjects due to the unique nature of one's role in a lab environment. I've had the privelege to work in very challenging settings that I feel have only made me better but when you're in the learning phases it could be quite daunting. I appreciate your videos significantly and feel so relieved to have found you page because when I need refreshers on certain subjects, you have been extremely helpful in my journey. Thank you so much for your content and invaluable contributions to the RUclips learning space!
Thanks for taking the time to comment - glad you are finding your feet! Scientific training is very daunting at first, it slowly starts paying off later in your career
If NVG-300 works for Alzheimer's in NervGen's 2025 trial as well as their NVG-291 promises to work for spinal cord injury, it could be the most effective treatment.
Need to watch this space for sure
Thank you
Good information thanks
What amount of DNA should be loaded to each well?
Thanks for this explanation. Please what is PBS AND BSA?
Absolutely Amazing
Do we need serial dilution for running a PCR?
Not always, depends on what you are trying to dilute out? Same principles apply when you are setting up your PCR mastermix and diluting it out for the different reactions.
These drugs only treat the symptoms. Like clearing a clogged drain by not letting any fat down it. Doesnt fix it.
They know what it is. It is Diabetes #3 . Insulin resistance is the beginning period.
Have you explored Simufilam from Cassava Sciences?
Love this! It’s very easy to understand!
Very useful, thanks 👌🏽
this is the clearest, most precise video I have seen on PCR. I normally do not comment but this was phenomenal
I am a subscriber now, all of your videos are made with such care.
Thank you! Took a long time to make, glad the effort shows on screen
Is something wrong with her voice?
thanks buddy

Death ☠️💀 by Overwork 😅😂😢 Sad
Sad but true. Don’t think it happens as much in this day and age but it still happens
I ended up furthering my study into reproductive science and I have now almost finished my masters in clinical embryology. Did not expect to head in this direction when I did biomed
Great to hear - it is a very quickly evolving field
A very helpful explanation, would you be able to talk about the Modified Lowry Method Assay and procedure?
👍👍👍
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you sir for this masterpiece!!
Thanks for watching!
