I also watch both this channel and LowSpec (main build is TR-1950x with quad crossfire Fury powered by duel SuperNova 1300's in a vampire style casket, driving triple 4k monitors). I just love pretty much all tech (right now direct-die sub-zero cooling a 2200g on my test bench). and my first PC was a dreaded laptop with a sub 40cb multi-thread Cinebench score (AMD E1), and why it came with WIndows 8.1 installed I'll never know... It forced me to learn to use Linux (about 7x faster on average for programs on Linux for that super slow machine, Windows over-head took like ALL of it...), and Minecraft at 240p render distance of 20 ft with enemy spawn at a jump scaring 5ft where you walked right into them, well it still only made 17 fps, man I wish I had LowSpec gamer back then! So I appreciate all the hard work making games available to everyone and spreading joy to PC gaming regardless what you can afford.

Luka TO my Titan Xp Star Wars edition only does 45 fps in Crysis 3 at 4k Ultra, but my quad Fury does 100 fps, so I only use the Titan Xp as a paper weight at this point (it was hanging on a wall as artwork for a while, I assume it hasn’t fallen down). Unfortunately I would have bought quad Titan RTX (or at least quad Vega VII or quad Vega 64, you know something...), but none of those support 4x... I was really bummed out, duel 2080ti would be cheap but it isn’t going to be an upgrade, because Nvidia unfortunately locks you out of quad SLI (otherwise I would also have originally bought 4x Star Wars edition Titans to “bring balance to the GeForce”... but no, duel Titans is a downgrade and 4x not allowed, such a shame, massive Star Wars fan).
So I agree it’s not capable of my triple 4k setup, but companies refuse to apparently offer to sell anything better, I don’t get it, do they hate money or something? It’s cost AMD 8x GPU (4x Vega 64, then 4x Vega VII since that card was spectacular), and it cost Nvidia 3 more Titan Xp and potentially at least 4x 2080ti (Although I would have only gotten either 2080ti or Vega VII).
But then again I work so many hours that I’d rarely get to enjoy them anyways, it certainly saved some cash by not allowing upgrades for me, but darn I really like that Vega VII with 16 GB HBM2 1 TB/S!

@@jakegarrett8109 i would just sell all those furys and buy one good gpu...most games dont even support 2x crossfire never mind 4x lol

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 5 лет назад +1

Luka TO most of my games scale fantastic in multi-GPU (have you tried it or are you just parroting others?), and 90% of the games I want to play this year support it. So nah, not going back to sub 60 fps gaming... why spend $2500 for inferior performance? That doesn’t make sense! I’ve still got the Titan, but it just never gets used because it’s not really any good... I’m pretty sure my 2200g will see more use, unless I crack it’s core with too much pressure on direct die cooling on my testbench, but that’s unlikely.
I’ll sell you a Titan below market value, it’s seen very little use if you’re so sure of yourself. More realistically I’ll get a couple more Fury for binning purposes (and spares for EXOC benching or hardware mods gone wrong).
Also quad Fury is more consistent and less stutters than any Pascal I’ve used, so it’s a very excellent experience (oh goodness, duel RX470 sucks! It’s worse than Pascal “throttleboost 2.0”... it’s decent scaling, but there’s nothing “micro” about those stutters! The Fury, idk if it’s the HBM or what, seem to be immune to crossfire stutters, I haven’t even tried my 4x RX 470 due to how bad 2x was in games, I will sometime though because I only set the TimeSpy word record for duel RX470 and need to set the tri through my quad records, I don’t think mine are good enough for the single on LN2 due to crummy Elpida Vram but they can take the wins in multi-GPU).

My first one - i5-4590 CPU, 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM, MSI B85M-E45 MoBo, ASUS GTX750 1G GDDR5, 512G Verbatim SSD + 320GB 2.5" Tosiba SATA2 HDD (salvaged from my malfunctioned laptop), Lite-On DVD Writer, Antec Neo ECO 520W PSU, Corsair Carbide 100R ATX case -> costs roughly HKD$3900, roughly 350 GBP if currency in respective time period is counted.
My second one got some more 2nd hand and older parts - Pentium E6500 CPU, 4GB DDR3-1600 RAM, Gigabyte G41M-combo MoBo, MSI GT730 2G GDDR5, 256GB Verbatim SSD, Lite-On DVD Writer, Antec Neo ECO 400W PSU, DeepCool Smarter mATX case -> around HK$2600 in total, which, if you count it in GBP in respective time period would be around 230 pounds.

Oh man, you’d love my PC. While it looks like a normal 2012 Midrange Gaming PC, the plot twist is that the sides aren’t off to show off the internals. I have to run the PC with the case off. No really. The cooling system has never been good, it’s been loud, annoying, it overheats, and has never been really good enough. It’s issues have only got worse as it’s aged. This summer heatwave is the worst we’ve had in years, and it’s been causing the chips to run at upwards of 150 degrees Celsius. So naturally, I took the sides off to investigate, and I realised while testing everything that it ran way colder without the sides.
So now I run the PC without its sides, as the fans are insufficiently strong enough to pull air through the case. It’s gone from running at 100+ degrees to running at like 60. Without the sides, the fans are constantly blowing dust off of the boards, which is brilliant as they normally end up clogged with dust. Everyone in my family says I’m stupid and mad for doing this, but it’s given my PC a new lease on life.
Of course, having the fans exposed isn’t the best idea, and I have nearly cut my finger off with my GPU fan, (the fan stalls occasionally, and you have to reach under and spin it a few times like an old aircraft propellor to get it going again. And trust me, that thing is vigorous when it’s running.) but the cooling benefits are worth it, even though it still overheats occasionally and needs to be powered off for a couple of hours with a fan pointed at it.

You can overclock locked sandy bridge on p67, z68, and z77.

I think you can up the turbo multiplier on z77 and give a small bclk boost to get to around 4.2ghz.

Hi RG, thought i'd ask you just upgraded my 5yr old am3 rig amd fx4170 / M/B GA- 970A- ds3 / 16gb + GTX 770 to AM4 Ryzen 3 / A320M / 8gb ddr4 3000mhz I'm delighted with the onboard rx vega graphics , which seem better all round, would there be any advantage in using my GTX 770 dedicated gpu instead . thank you.

I still remember my i5 2400... It came stock in my 2012 Acer Predator but was also featured in my first custom built pc and then overclocked... I had a GTX670 4GB back then... I thought of that pc as a beast... And with a beqiet pure rock tower cooler the cpu was kept at very low temperatures...

Ahh Turtle Beach sound cards were fantastic back in the day. Then Creative Labs took over that market for the most part. Good memories of my old rig.
Definitely don't miss those "hand killer" cases that were pretty much every case back then. Thankfully you have to buy a really bad case today to end up with that danger.
