- Опубликовано: 24 июл 2024
- Welcome to another episode of STT! In today's one we're talking about processors and graphics cards that can be found on the second-hand market for $50 or under, and which ones you should consider if you're building a gaming PC on a tight budget.
Thanks for watching :) Наука
2011 XEON like 2630V2 or 2689. Boards are new from Ali, more expensive, but offset by cheap reg ECC RAM. GTX 950 or 960 are good value, but best to stretch to RX 470 or R9 380.
@@bonni3752 I only used it for the review, but I'm sure it still works.
I currently run a i5-760 at 3.6GHz and a GTX 660 2GB thanks to this channel. Best budget tech channel there is IMO.
I have an i5-750 OC'd with a GTX 750ti
I found a Core 2 Extreme QX6700 but I do not know which GPU to pair it with. I use 8GB of DDR3 RAM and have a Dell Optiplex PSU.
@@savagearma u can use with the PSU - GTX 750 ; 750ti ; 1030 ; 1050 and 1050ti if the version doesn't need 6pin power
@@lucaswyrm7323 Thanks my man, appreciated.
@@savagearma Depends on your budget. If you dont have much cash left over and want to go for a 600 or 700 series card, then the 6/750, 6/760s are a decent choice. But even the 660 needs a 6pin power connector. Which might be taxing on your PSU if you are planning to do heavy overclocking.
If you have a little more cash to spend, I would advise looking for the 1030 or a 1050.
I5 2500K - £23 [oc to over 4ghz)
R9 290X - £34 ( just needed re-thermal pasting)
Lga 1155 motherboard - £43
8gb ripjaw ddr3 - £8 ( got to love CEX Saturday staff)
When you're looking at older AMD cards, 1st gen GCN cards and above are probably acceptable. I recently picked up an HD 7970 for $30, and it's been holding it's own in any game I test it in.
What a steal.
1. H67/B75 Mobo(1155 socket)= 50$
2. Xeon E3 1220V2 ( 4C/4T, 8Mb cache and 3.1GHz clock & 3.5GHz turbo) = 35$
3. GTX950 2Gb = 60$
HP Z400 are where its at. 6 cores, 12GB ram and decent psu all for £70-90
Indeed. Some of my uni computers have had HP Z based computers with powerful Xeons, plenty of RAM and upgradability etc. If you can find one then it's a good shot.
Those older sandy bridge xeons are awesome for someone on a tight budget right now. Good to see they are still getting some love
The LGA-2011 sandy bridge xeons are pretty sweet too
E3 Xeons with model numbers that end in '5' tend to have integrated graphics. For example: the E3 1225, 1235, 1245, and 1275.
Only issue with wish and ali express takes to long to show up
Never buy item from wish they are all scam
Not only that you also get the wrong card.
**Laughs in chinese Ebay seller**
RealityJake to be fair, ebay takes “the customer is always right” seriously to an almost scary degree.
Oh yea, watch video "i bought gtx 1050ti for 50$ on wish". Totally scam
IMO, the crazy cheap prices for 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen cpus makes the old used 4 core Xeon/Core i5 chips redundant. A cheap AM4 board makes the most sense and wack in a an RX 460 or 560 and it’ll see you through with an upgrade path in the future. All for little outlay.
Yup 1600 for $80 is not too bad considering we can buy a b450 for $60-70 good enough..just slap in a $50 rx470/570 then we're good to go for another year
@@HuntaKiller91 bonus with the b450 board (and others) is you can flash the bios and chuck in a Ryzen 3 at a latter date too.
@@madb132 yes my man👍🔥, that's what im aiming..as long as it's in the Zen ecosystem then it'll be good, considering am4 will be supported up till zen3 or ryzen 4000 in 2020 i might upgrade to those from the 1600👍🔥
Aliexpress can be handy for those who cant get access to used market, you can find some gtx 950's for around 50 usd or 750 ti's for 42 usd and if you can get some extra for 60ish usd you can get a gtx 960
Ha I got lucky. Fx 8350 700w Power supply one 240 gb and one 120 gb ssd and a gtx 960. 8 gb ram a nice case with rgb fans.
160€ baby. So good.
Not rlly
@@xahndi3300 hey if i sell the 960 i can have a 200€ pc with an rx 570 wich doesnt get bottlenecked.
People underastimate the fx. Its not a powerful chip but in multicore in can compete to an i7 3770.
And it can archieve 60 fps in almost every game.
@@herroberbesserwisser7331 ye but if you have time try to deal hunt for an 8gb 580. The fx chips are still decent at gaming. But once youve saved enough try to get something like a ryzen 5 1600 or 2600. The 1600 is a bang for the buck though.
@@herroberbesserwisser7331 I think the FXs are a great choice but if you want to spice it up it will be hard because of the socket
I love the birds chirping in the background. I can see that your budgies are quite happy!
DUUUUDe those seagulls made me think of a UK show i used to watch called whats the story in ballamor xD what a trip and great vid!
I'm obsessed with this channel
Yo bro u are makimg the best Videos bout used Pc Parts Keep going man i hope you will hit 1mio subscriber👊👊
Thanks for another great tech talk :)
A tech tuber actually talking about the stuff us budget enthusiast cares about! i just got a few i5-3470 for $40 a piece few months back with a h77, dell 7010 mobo's, and with some used $80 rx 570's (all ebay). Luckily Phil tested it out in a video like the week before i bought it so i knew it was a good combo; plus runs better and quieter then my 8370 oc'ed with that better sc.
I had an old pre built wich i upgraded for my brother as a workstation for browsing and watching movies (SSD and 8GB ram). I believe it had an AMD a10 and an R7 240. That little R7 actually held up pretty well and for some reason was one of the best overclockers i've had. Was able to run csgo at 60fps and fortnite on low settings at 30fps. Wich for such a low end card was pretty amazing. I believe you could crossfire them as well. I think it specifically was an asus R7 240 2GB DDR3.
It's Sunday! Completely watchable!!!
you nailed it man on xeons, 1150 in uk one could pickup or win auctions for under 50-70quid, aliexpress etc hits with custom vat on import not sure about uk, but smth to keep in mind, plus long delivery times. great channel budget options rather then watching most do 1-2k builds they get thrown at to advertise.
some solid advice here, great video.
Last week I picked up two Alienware Desktops. First was a Aurora R1 other was a R4. I pulled the GT 660 Blower card from the R4 and I installed it in my micro atx older pc gaming system and it works perfectly been running Trespasser and Doom so much fun.
In the US i5-2400 is a widely available cpu for around $30, and the gtx 960 is commonly found for around $50. The i5 was in a lot of workstation and oem prebuilts, and the rx 460 and gtx 960 pair up very well with it.
I'm rocking an X5650. I picked up an old Dell T3500 Workstation which I got for under £100. I'm not a gamer but I do a lot of audio recording and it handles massive projects with ease.
I recently *sold a decent system for a mate of my brother‘s.
i7-3770, 16gigs of ram, 700w psu and a 1070ti.
Makes for a fantastic value gaming system, he got it for about 450€.
He had to get a new case though, one with integrated rgb fans and rgb controller since the mobo wouldn‘t support them. That case added up another 75€, a totally okay price considering it comes with 4 pre-installed rgb fans AND the rgb controller needed.
Gave away. *450$
BlackPalankaa *sold? That better?
@@Passenger-nj7in yes 😂
Im upgrading soon to the 3600 with a B450 steel legend board but u dont know what ram to buy with it,is 3200 or 3600mhz better? And is every ram brand compatible or should i stick to corsair? Great vids dude keep up the great work! Greetings for The Netherlands
Chinna is best place for deals buttt.... there shipping is trash id totally buy from them of they offered ups or fedex
I buy too often from them and i can say that their shippings have improved, ask the seller wich service are using, the best shipping method they use for free is sinotrans, it arrives in a decent margin of time compared to chinapost and they dont throw your packages from a 6 floor building as chinapost does
@prince dos lol
@prince dos It's not worth it.
aliexpress is great for gtx 750 and gtx 960
👍!👍! Thanks for the info.
My first pc was in 2016 and it was a refurb prebuilt dell workstation for 350$ cad with a xeon e3 1220 v3 and a quadro k600 which i happily gamed on for a year until i bought a 1050 ti, then a year after i went to a ryzen 3 1300x which was a slight bit better than the xeon, then i got a r7 2700 and an rx580 which is my current pc!
7:17 Reminds me of mid town madness game
Lga 2011 (E-5 2600 series) sockets are pretty good as well 8 core 16 thread @3.8 GHz (max) for around $120 on Amazon.
is there a cex alternative that is close in offers for the USA ? i usually go with ebay and am fine with it, but I'm always on the lookout for new places to buy used gpus and pc tech
G'day Random,
I bought a Gigabyte GTX680SOC WindForce 5X today for $100 Delivered, very excited to be adding it to my collection as in Australia a 'normal' GTX680 goes for over $150AUD
I recently got rx 560 for 40$ and im happy for the performance and the freesync support
hey just wanted to say that i get lag spikes in far cry 5 even tho im with ryzen 2600 and gtx 1660 also 16gb ram 3000, but just wanted to let u know after i turned off HD textures and left everything else on ultra the lag spikes finally stopped
I recently got a sapphire 7970 for $57 shipped on ebay
I got an RX 460 2GB brand new for $52 shipped. Great little card. As you mentioned the R9 270X 4GB is good value if you find one for less than $60, (I have those in three gaming systems and they still run great at 1080p). I am surprised the FX 8350 is still going for around $60. I would like to pick one up for an AM3+ board I have, but really need it to be cheaper.
I've just built my first PC a week or two ago. I grabbed the AMD FX 4300 Black Edition for £52.95, brand new from Amazon. For my GPU I got the GTX 650 from CeX for £40. In total I spent around £250 for my build, everything brand new apart from the GPU.
I got myself a pretty good combo like 16 months ago, it had an i5 2500k, an msi 1555 motherboard, 8gb DDR3 and a normal psu for 120€, added my hdd, a small 128gb SSD and bought a gtx 960 for 80€, got a quite capable 1080p system for a little over 200€
That thumbnail is really flattering. lol
I got a GTX 950 for 48$ on AliExpress. Works like a charm.
My specs
Intel Core i5-4570
8GB DDR3 RAM
550W PSU
GTX 950.
Good enough?
perfect
Eh, not bad but nothing too fancy
Haswell FTW, I'm still rocking an i7 4770k in my daily rig. Even though I own a lot more newer and powerful stuff my 4770k is my main "Go to" machine
your i5 can handle a much more powerful gpu up to maybe a 1070 ti
@@bksniperguy you are being generous. It can handle but i can imagine slight stuttering throughout gameplay.
My friend and I stumbled across a hd 6970 for $60 Aud and holy crap the thing worked flawlessly. I think that's a pretty decent deal for that old behemoth.
Core i5-3570 non-K. Good CPU. I got one for about $35
Also, the Ryzen 3 outperforms the FX-8350. SURE the FX-8350 with beefy cooling can do 5ghz but the cores are not efficient.
You should do a live tech talk with live Q and A's.
My 2nd rig has an E3 1220, GTX 660 2gb and 8gbs of ddr3
I'd say it's a fairly okay light gaming PC
Still using i3 6100 as gaming rig because broke af. They said that 2 cores are dead but a 2 cores with HT will make a huge difference than not having HT.
i3 6100 isn't that bad. Not that good tho. Get some money put an i5 6500K in it
The i5 6400 would be a nice upgrade
Lmao ryzen? Intel is just not worth it at this point. If ur gaming u should focus on ur gpu more then cpu.
@@b.henriques9871 but i3 isn't good for gaming....
@@chilly3528 Yeah it is. It's not the best but saying it isn't good for gaming is not true.
I bought an EVGA GTX 970 SC for $100 CDN on ebay about a month ago. Pretty sweet little card for that price. :)
That late night thumbnail doe
Got a used rx 570 some time ago. Still rocking my i5 3470. 12gig ddr3 ram. Don't really have a need to upgrade rn but would be nice to know where to go from here.
Do the 4 core/8 thread Xeons suffer now though with the software security patches to the point where they are no longer worth buying?
🙂 i dont know but im on 7 and i dont do updates 😊
My i5 650 has 2 cores and 4 threads and tbh it does the job pretty well. 1 more thing can you please make a video on the i5 650 processor please thank you.
Haven't hard of bidvoy, thanks for that
The R3 1200 is currently priced at 50€ in some european stores, brand new. So I'd say a 2200G or a 1300X fits better at the $50 price point.
Untested Intel DX79SR motherboard-$50
4x4 kit of Corsair XMS3 1600MHz-$30
Untested RX 580 4GB-$53
Don't have a CPU yet. I'm a bit envious about Ryzen because of the cheap ones on AliExpress but considering what prices I've payed for this, not bad if you ask me, just waiting to get the 580 to test.
Dunno if this is a good deal but I got a i5 2500k for about 37 pounds. Bit older but very surprised with its benchmarks
I5 2500K, the big daddy of i5 overclockers - have two and both love a good handful of extra mhz
@@jonnyozzy5288 yeah far out it sure can be overclocked well!! awesome, good to hear :)
Funny that this popped up. I just realized that I have an old motherboard. Z170-a. What cpu can I make with this? Cheapest or budget per performance plus I have a psu and all that shit. I am thinking about doing a budget build. (Be advised I already have a pc)
I got a used Dell T3600 with a Xeon E5 2650 (8c/16t) for 3500 mexican pesos or 170 usd and I paired it with a RX 580 8gb, it's a nice upgrade from my previous pc an i7 970
How do you get the graphics card to fit with that annoying handle on the inside?
Does the ryzen 3 1200 still reliable?
Well I just got done here in the canary island's getting 1150 motherboard to fix a system and turned out to be faulty with no guarantee so in the end had to opt for new motherboard 1155 pentuim processor and ram,so now im a bit wary abt second hand motherboard's even though this is the first time it has happened
🙂 yes it happens, just buy another one, always have spare parts ✌😏
Is the roast your build thing still going?
Theres currently an influx of rx580 4gbs on ebay for £53.90 shipped quoted as having loud fans, likely ex mining cards because of how many there are but 14 days returns if its not for you.
Also rx 470 4gbs available for £43.90 from the same seller.
Next buy for me is going to be a r5 1600 for £65 from aliexpress
No mention of the LGA-2011 xeons?
Just picked up a e3-1230v2 for $30. Seems like a decent upgrade from a i5 3470. Picked up a spare lga 1155 motherboard for $12.
I bought an i7 2600 on an Acer mobo with stock heat sink 8gb ram gtx 1050 LP for $215 CAD last week. Always finding deals.

How about 1156 based motherboards ?
I had an ASRock P55 pro USB 3,I think.
It was a wondery thing, overclocked sky high on air with X3440.
I wish I could find something similar at the same price .....
I have the X3440 in my secondary rig, OC at 4.5GHz with a simple Enermax 120mm AIO for cooling.

What do you mean by saying that 4 threads may pose an issue? I thought the only program that really required a certain amount of threads to run properly was that one Far Cry game that needs more than two. Remember, multithreading's performance advantage is small at best, and nonexistent at worst. Can someone explain? I truly don't understand what he meant.
@@MrSamadolfo I didn't ask where it would make a difference, I asked where it would pose an issue

I think certain E5 server chips such as the E5-2650 (8 core/16 threads) are the best deal. I just got one on ebay for $22 with free shipping (US). Now most mainstream X79 mobos are very expensive but AliExpress has Chinese made (updated) mobos that work very well for $65 - $90 and of course server grade Ram (ECC, DDR3) is very cheap on eBay. Paired with an R9 280x I won on bid for $37 (eBay) makes for a very capable build for very cheap. I believe the E5-2650 was around & $1100(usd) at launch.
i have that system with e5 2689(50$) higher clocks than 2650 i get around 1150cb in r15
@@spacy9571 nice! The E5 series is definitely where it's at right now if you're willing to search for cheap x79 or get Chinese brand boards for sure!

Hi , is 3700x worth it over i7 4960x ??
can the next episode cover cheap used laptops for light gaming??
Pedro Marques the Dell Latitude E6440 isn’t expensive and I’ve managed to get most games running fine on it mine has, i5 4310M; 8GB DDR3 1600MHz dual channel; 480GB SSD; Intel HD 4600 iGPU. And you can overclock the graphics with XTU
@@whitebeartigtig well when i said cheap i meant like monumentally cheap XD like those 70 buck finds that might have like say a broken keyboard or be very beat up but that can be put to shape
Problem with almost all Intel CPUs is anything using Hyper Threading technology, have a serious security flaw, that allows other people to track everything you do on your computer directly, and since it's directly from the CPU not the software virus protection does not help
For countries with fubar'd economical systems, 2011s are the jam, put 2689 in there and whatever gpu up to gtx1080 (yes, it can handle gtx1080, in some cases it can push 1080ti into high 90s on usage) and you are set for many years. x79 motherboards aren't that cheap on aliexpress, but brands like huanan zhi give you all you need including m2 pci-e slots. For someone living in cis countries, set of 2689, 4 channel 32gb ecc ram, good x79 mb is more than twice cheaper than low-mid range ryzen system with future-proof amount of ram and cores. So yeah, xeons ftw.
My friend wants to sell me his 770 for 55$, he suggested to sell me that card for this price so I can replace my HD 6770 until I grind enough for a new card, so a GTX 770 Windforce good deal for 55$ ?
