Phenom II X6 > FX 6100 FX 6300 > Phenom II X6 There is no reason to go for a 6100 when the 6300 cost exactly the same (used). The 6300 beats the Phenom clock for clock, the 6100 doesn't.
the problem with the phenom II series is their lack of instructions like SSE 4.1 , etc . that can couse mayor problems in some of titles like Metal gear solid V TPP at is launch or No mans sky. that why u should allways go for a FX series cpu even if the phenom outperform it . btw probably my best cpu ever was the Phenom II 965 i had to change it becouse of the already mention problems.
Der Tux if I were him, I would. For one reason. The only alternative is buying Nvidia at this point and anything from AMD doesn't have a good price right now. Gpu side of things, just for clarity.
I have a Q9400 and it runs incredibly well for a 10 year old CPU. I played Doom 2016 on Max settings at 60 fps without a problem (my GPU is a 1060 with 6 GB VRAM).
Well, if you think about it, most used/older I5's are really awesome for the money. I recently bought a used I5 4460 for €70, an awesome price for an awesome CPU. Hey RGHD, you're really coming along in your on-camera appareance and performance. You've always been professional, but I can tell you're more comfortable showing your face and talking to us, and this video shows a more natural and even better you. Keep doing what you're doing, man!
Rocking a core i5 3470 and a gtx 1050. Best budget gaming experience ever... Great video! I don't think some people realize how cheap you can get into pc gaming on the used market.
I think you should add the X5650. Even if you get stuck on an unoverclockable board, the CPU outperforms the Q6600 by over 100% per core, 300% if you include all 6 cores+12 threads. That's at stock speed. I've seen the X5650 go for under $20 on eBay.
0:04 into the video, already starting to notice that you have lost weight, dunno if you are even trying to, but you did. Ya look good man. Also (coming from someone who has been around this channel a long time) I am glad to see you are starting to grow your channel faster. You deserve it.
The Core 2 Extreme qx6700 can be find priced under $20 and can be overclocked to 3,5 GHz easy on a p43 motherboard... Not a bad choice. And the phenom x4 945 around $25 is not a bad deal too.
I bought an Dell Optiplex SFF with a core i5 3470, 8GB of DDR3 and 320GB HDD for 150EUR. Perhaps it's considered a bit pricey for the budget range. But heck it got a good PSU, nice small form factor case, a good cooling solution, and with a MSI 1050Ti Low Profile found on sale for 100EUR it actually makes a really awesome modern mid-range gaming rig. The i5 runs almost every game comfortably at 60+fps. :) I am super happy about it.
I have six yrs old E6800 3.33GHz clocked to 3.84GHz but that CPU has his best times gone. So what would you guys recommend me to pair with mine GT1030?
I can personally recommend the X5650. It's an LGA 1366 CPU and has 6 cores, 12 threads and can overclock quite easily to 4.5Ghz - they love heat and voltage. As a result, it absolutely flies and is great for rendering and games. I will say that it's not super, super easy to find an affordable and *good* X58 motherboard nowadays, but, if you can, go for it! Tripple channel DDR3 support (which, being honest, doesn't really do anything for real world use, just specific synthetic applications) and cheap DDR3 prices vs DDR4.. I think it's absolutely worth a go for a budget build. I couldn't be happier with mine!
Emile wat only better if you can find that board at a good price. Basically the locked processor is just fine. You'd never really have to worry about overheating from your OC when you went to test either.
Xeon X5450 is not worse than E5450, they're the same processor really, the TDP difference is caused because of the default vcore voltage setting being higher on the X, but you can always go in the bios and lower it down to the same value as E or even lower than that and get the low power consumption
totaly agree with your phenom II X6 1055T, got him OCed easily to 3,5Ghz and could get higher but its plenty to pair it with a GTX 1050 for my working station/e-sports title pc, got him for less than 100 Euros combined with an Asus M597 R 2.0 MoBo which is quite decent for OC. great work as always!
one of my systems have one of those , ez overclock to 4.8ghz . my best score in cinebench r15 is 402 in multi threaded , not bad for a 30 euros cpu also the super low tdp helps a lot. Edit : double check my scores for the 4300 and they are 243 at stock (3.8ghz)- 342 at 4.3ghz - and 380 at 5.0ghz . cinebech R15.0 multi threaded performance test.
Or Craigslist Ads: "CUSTOM GAMING BUILD, will run 4K at Ultra settings!!! Usually retails for $2500 but I'm selling for $1800" Selling an x4 860k with a gtx780ti -_-
I cant hit more than 2.89ghz with my asus p5kpl am/ps motherboard...... It has g31 chipset! , Edit- i forgot to mention that i have q6600 and my mother board max fsb ks 1333mhz which the q6600 reaches @2.89ghz is there is any way to get it 3ghz or beyond??
I have P5K-VM G33 and I screwed by buying E5472 ( although it supports QX9770 which even higher clocked) I have oops in chrome and BSODs on default clocks. Do some one know the workaround?
I have an AM3 Phenom II x4 960T on the way to replace my Q6600 build. It unlocks from 4 cores to 6 cores and goes to 4.0Ghz with no trouble. I can't wait!!!
I put a Xeon E5450 in an Asus P5K Pro (upgrading from a E8500) years ago and it still works great, and much cheaper than the equivalent Core2 Quad. A good cheap upgrade which kept my 2008 machine useful. I didn't bother with BIOS mods as the chip shared the microcode patches with another officially supported one.
ken kobayashi X79 board isn't cheap though. I bought my system in 2012 with a 3820, and thanks to an $80 upgrade with a healthy overclock, it's still more than competitive.
I had a budget desktop I had purchased a couple of months back with some decent specs; an i3-2120 clocked at 3.3ghz, 6 gigs of DDR3 clocked at 1600mhz, a 1tb hard drive, and built in Wifi. I only spent $10 for it, and I turned it into a budget gaming PC by making some upgrades. Those upgrades included upgrading the ram to 12 gigs of DDR3, upgrading the CPU to a Xeon e3-1220 (more or less just an i5-2400), and a rx 460 2gb. I spent $35 on ram, $30 for the CPU, and $80 for the GPU, making the entire PC under $175. (Windows 10 was pre-installed but I upgraded it to Windows 10 using a key I got on ebay)
I got myself an x58 build recently (~2 months ago), e5649 (80W, 2.5 GHz base, overclocked to 4.2), MSI x58 Pro-E and 6x4 GB DDR3. Got Board+RAM for 135€ and the CPU for 30€. GPU is a GTX 670 a friend retired. Pretty crazy performance for the Price.
I had a i5 2400 as a family pc, then I built my first pc with the x5460 mod 771 to 775 (4c-4t), then sold it for a x3440 (4c-8t) and now I'm very happy with a x5650 at 4.2Ghz (6c-12t) :D If you have any questions on these cpu, let me know!
If you have, or can find a cheap lga1366 board, don't forget the X5650! 6 cores, 12 threads! I have an old Dell Precision T3500 I bought from someone for super cheap which had a 1366 board in it. I purchased a X5660 slotted it in, got 8gb Ram, and a 1050ti and now it plays games very very well. I love it!
Well for 250 pounds I got a i5 6600k with a Asus z270 mark 2 motherboard, geforce 660gtx, 16gb hyper x fury ddr4 ram, 128 GB ssd, 1tb hard drive, nzxt case and a great corsair rm650 psu and windows 10 pro.
The x5650 Xeon 6/12. Easily OC’able over 4.0 in a single socket, two X5650’s require an SR-2 board which are a bit pricey, or heavy board modding with an SR-2 BIOS module retooled for your motherboard (they have them on E-bay for a bunch of Supermicro Boards running around $10 usd). You can find them in mobo/RAM combos w/2 x5650’s, 32+ GB ddr3 for $250 or so quite often, $100-$150 without RAM, or $35-$45 usd per CPU.
I have a SD 435 phone right now in my hands, it doesn't overheat as long as you don't download big files and it has 2x more cores than an average gaming computer does. However, optimisation of that Xiaomi sucks.
Radovan P. I was looking at a xiomi with a snapdragon 6xx something since I can't remember that particular processor name. Seemed promising considering it has a 4100 mah battery.
I buyed a new used motherboard with a AM2/AM2+/AM3 socket, a Phenom X4 9850 with 125W and a gig of ddr2 ram for just 30 Euros on ebay. Smashed 2x2GB rigs in there, a better cooler, my graphics card and started it up. Pretty happy with the Phenom. Just waiting for the better TDP cooler! But for the Budget, there are some Opterons at least in germany for sale for less than 20 Euros. They have AM2+ and use about 115W, they run also cool and are like Phenoms from the performance as long as i heard. When the board supports about 125W Cpus you are good to go!
With your advice, I was able to find some excellent deals on some computer parts with my budget build. I would not have known just how capable old Core 2 Quads are, and I would not have known about the performance of certain graphics cards and games. In the end, I was able to build an Overwatch rig for $150 featuring a Q9400 and a Radeon HD 5870 that runs the game at 40-60 FPS at 1080p! For that, thanks for the help Randomgaming! And keep up the great work with your videos!
one of the best deals you can get is the regular i5-2400, i got an entire optiplex 390 MT in perfect condition with windows 7 pro, 500GB of storage, 8GB DDR3 1333MHz, keyboard and mouse for 130 dollars. i haven't installed a GPU yet (not enough money) but the specs say it supports 75w on the pcie slot, so i'm definetly getting a 1050 ti for it.
i have a 2500k, and can say with confidence that it is easily the best bang for the buck available under $100 right now. and if you pair it with a decent board for ocing (i personally have an ASUS P8Z68-V LE) with a 4.5 ghz oc, you can run titles like BF1 at 90 fps on an online domination game (have not played conquest yet) and the graphics settings just depend on your gpu. it is an insanely good chip. if you have a little bit extra to spare, get a really good Z77 board and a good cooler, and you could get to 4.8, maybe even 5 ghz, if you have some luck.
guys, intel i7 3930k is around 100eur on ebay, it has 12k score in passmark, which is 2time more then i5 2500k and mobos are also cheap, nonbrand around 100eur too, i got one nonbrand and works perfectly
I remember using the Q6600 and using the Tape & Pin mod to OC it to 3.0GHz on a Stock Intel Board, due to OC limitation of the board. I still have it saved for a budget build PC if i needed to.
I'm using i5 2300, and I can say I don't really need anything better since it still runs everything I want without a problem. It is clocked a bit lower, but it is not a problem for me. I picked it up for around 90$ like two years ago, but prices dropped now to like 50$ on ebay, and for that price I can still recommend it to someone that wants to pair it with something like GTX 1060, since I think it would bottleneck something with more power than that.
When considering the 2500k, keep in mind that not all chipsets allow OC. My favourite is the 3470, which can be found for around 50€ and can easily be combined with old business PCs from that era, e.g. the HP 6300 Pro.
The problem is motherboard availability and if you're going to buy a used one you might think of reliability. Well I'm thinking of doing my own scrapyard hunt. Thanks bro! Informative vid.
Speaking about AMD CPUs: There are a lot of good Phenom II and Phenom III processors out there on ebay. The good thing is that you can spend 15$ on your CPU and still upgrade it because of the AM3 Socket and its downwards compatibility to AM2. Also I have good experiences with FX CPUs because of very cheap used bundles on Ebay.
You can find 1st gen i7s for about 50$ maybe a little more, also a really good option, 4 cores and 8 threads with overclock as well, although 1156 and 1366 mobos are not as common now. Can't agree about 775 availability because I had like 20 of them for past 2 years for free, every pc from the dump or recycling came with 775 mb, although almost all boards were budget ones, so no OC and two DDR2 slots (I kept one with 4 DDR2 slots and one with 4 DDR3 slots).
My setup was pretty freaking good value for money. I have dual Xeons x5675's. They're insane, I get the same cinebench score as my mates AMD ryzen 1800x, and that's with them running at 3ghz, if I overclock then I'll get a score around 2100, that's threadripper territory! I paid £90 for a pair so £45 each! It's crazy!
If you can handle the cost of a mainboard, x58 4-core and 6-core c.p.u.s (especially the 6-core ones) are extreme value for money and when overclocked they're directly compared to haswell intel processors. Also, if found for cheap, haswell c.p.u.s (like the i7 4790k) could be bargains, as brand-new mainboards can be found for cheaper than ever (most z97 mainboards now cost less than or around 100€).
A lot of times the Xeon equivalent is cheaper than the i series and will slot right in. On older chipsets they're also overclockable. This is also a great upgrade path if you're stuck on say an 1156 i3 or i5 6xx cpu. The i7 860 is around $70 and the i5 750 around $40 while the Xeon X3450 and X3430 are $28 and $14.
I have owned 4/5 of these! all but the AMD processor. Totally agree with this list, although I may have chosen the q6700 over the q6600 simply because they are only a few dollars more and are clocked slightly higher.
I use a fx 8350 which is one of the best USED amd cpus to buy if your on a budget because lots of people were upgrading to ryzen when it came out. I saw a fx8350 for £50 on ebay and a fx6300 for £40
The xeon x5650 is a godly cpu. $18 and you pair it with an Asus P6T Deluxe for about $120, and you get almost i7 6700k performance. Just did a full gtx 1080 build with one for under $1000.
The AMD Phenom II X6 is still a beast if you can get it to overclock well, and same for the memory it's not only good for gaming but for productive workloads like video/audio capture, and editing. I had the exact CPU you mentioned, for several years before my girlfriend's daughter accidentally spilled my morning coffee onto my then current rig rendering it useless, and it was a lesson learned to never put my computer under my desk anymore lol! the only thing I did not like about the Phenom II X6 CPU's is the 125Watt power draw, and the heat output, so a great air cooler, or good AIO water cooler is a must on those systems for long term use, plus a good 600 - 650 watt 80+ Bronze PSU is also a good idea with the Phenom CPU's in my experience.
Trying to squeeze a bit more go out of my nephews PC I clocked his FX8350 up to 4.5ghz on an old hyperion cooler I had knocking around with As5 paste, it's now game benching slightly above my own i5 4460, given you can get them for £50 used I think they deserve an honourable mention, especially if you are rendering
I think the Xeon E3 1225 is the best value, I bought one for $30 recently , it is essentially an i5 2400 with the better Hd3000 IGP, I also bought an 1155 M/B with I/O shield for $15 it was pulled from an optiplex 390. And then it was $5 for a dell cooler that screws into the backplate. I also got lucky and bought an 8gb 1866 ECC udimm for $15.
I use a Xeon E5450 with the sticker mod for over a year now and i am very happy with it.
7 лет назад
For all still with the socket 775, I definitively recommend the E5450 over the Q6600, right now costs just not much more and it's a lot faster. Also usually they sell them with the mod already installed and working.
Opteron G34 socket and nothing else and even dual socket f is an absolute monster. I have two used servers both dual soc one G34 and one socket f and they both are maxed out on ecc memory with the soc f costing total $575 and the G34 soc costing $750 total. The only thing is it takes patience and time to wait for deals that can't be beat.
Currently got a Xeon E5450 on order for $26 AUD, with the motherboard socket and BIOS already modified (faulty PSU killed the previous X5450...which cost $50 3 years ago). I'd have ordered something LGA1155 (I could have bought an i5 3450 for $45 AUD), but to get a motherboard of at least as good as my LGA775 board would have cost well over $150.

But what GPU should be paired with this CPU? 1050ti?
970 4gb would be the best, but shadows still need to be med/low
VaJohn wouldnt it more a better choice to get a i5 2600k? With the right mobo you could oc. I really don't know I'm just asking/wondering :)
some people dont have the extra $$$ for the mobo.
Emile wat only better if you can find that board at a good price. Basically the locked processor is just fine. You'd never really have to worry about overheating from your OC when you went to test either.

one of my systems have one of those , ez overclock to 4.8ghz . my best score in cinebench r15 is 402 in multi threaded , not bad for a 30 euros cpu also the super low tdp helps a lot.
Edit : double check my scores for the 4300 and they are 243 at stock (3.8ghz)- 342 at 4.3ghz - and 380 at 5.0ghz . cinebech R15.0 multi threaded performance test.

Just bougth one X3440! What a beast! Love your videos!
Rooper K add voltage /cooling
I have an AM3 Phenom II x4 960T on the way to replace my Q6600 build. It unlocks from 4 cores to 6 cores and goes to 4.0Ghz with no trouble. I can't wait!!!
Should I upgrade from an i3 2120 @ 3.3ghz to the i5 2500k? Idk if I need it...
Hexxoid if ur above a 750ti, do it ;^)
just save up for something like a 3570k or even a 3770k.
the 3770k is a 1155 cpu
a simple bios flash can fix that.
How about the i7 3930k I got mine off of eBay for $82.
ken kobayashi Same here. Best deal on a 6c/12t processor ever
ken kobayashi X79 board isn't cheap though.
How can you go MID with Sniper without items?
#REPORTFEEDER
daniel can u pls do a video with some of your cards in dota 2 just for fun i have subbed to u
eri steaj yee sure :) pro gameplay? MUHAHAHA
The best are old XEON’s, they have the best performance for the money. You could get a 6-core 3.6ghz beast for just $100 on ebay.
But the mainboards are too costly. I wouldn't pick an old Xeon unless I can get a compatible mainboard for a reasonable price.
If you're on LGA 1366 you can get a 6 c/12t Xeon and OC it to at least 4Ghz, for $20 off ebay or aliexpress.
Yeah X5690 (x2) a tad under 140 usd for a pair. (60 eur each). - my t7500 rocks.
Been here since 10k, love your channel. You seem like a very genuine person. Keep doing it!!
i7 3820 used?
Dang..since the last video I watched he grew 10,000 subs good job mate. You make amazing videos
Hi RandomGaminginHD!
LINUX_SU hey :)
I bought an i5 3450 3.5 ghz with h61 motherboard and 4gb of ram + 320gb hard disk for 130 dollars :D
Great vid bro!
make similar video, but for rendering
Sheedy Aja his channel is RandomGAMINGinHD not RandomRENDERINGinHD
Adam Burke but he is RANDOMGaminginHD
Adam Burke I want it to be ramdomBIRDWATCHINGin4k
Rendering would be mostly amount of pure power in GHz mostly cpus with more cores like Xeons Octa Amd's or high end intel cpu's
Maybe take a look at the Xeon X5650
METALDKNO And then you woke up?I bought a brand new Ferrari F40 for 30$.
I got a i5 6500, 120gb ssd and 8gb of ram for 160 Australian dollars from my dads work. Still over 40 more left for sale!
METALDKNO hey I'm in UK where did you buy your PC for that price
Will Clifton PLS give me one !!! ILL PAY WELL ! SKYPE NAME IS VOVOCHEN
You can find them in mobo/RAM combos w/2 x5650’s, 32+ GB ddr3 for $250 or so quite often, $100-$150 without RAM, or $35-$45 usd per CPU.
oh crap! I'm late! I should make a joke.....Snapdragon
SnapDragon is the best mobile cpu out there the only draw back s that is runs super hot
IceWizardGaming YT Snapdragon has already beaten Intel in phone and tablets market
I have a SD 435 phone right now in my hands, it doesn't overheat as long as you don't download big files and it has 2x more cores than an average gaming computer does.
However, optimisation of that Xiaomi sucks.
Correction: Mediatek
Radovan P. I was looking at a xiomi with a snapdragon 6xx something since I can't remember that particular processor name. Seemed promising considering it has a 4100 mah battery.
Yay, RGiHD prefers my previous CPU!

I was building a PC for a friend and picked up an i5-3470, with an Intel motherboard and 8GB of DDR3 for $90. An absolute steal.
And keep up the great work with your videos!
love your videos thanks for looking out for us budget gamers!
I grabbed the 1090T back in '11, and used it until about three months ago. It lasted me through three mobo upgrades!
one of the best deals you can get is the regular i5-2400, i got an entire optiplex 390 MT in perfect condition with windows 7 pro, 500GB of storage, 8GB DDR3 1333MHz, keyboard and mouse for 130 dollars. i haven't installed a GPU yet (not enough money) but the specs say it supports 75w on the pcie slot, so i'm definetly getting a 1050 ti for it.
Q6600 is probably the most lovable cpu ever. I still remember how I felt when I saw the performance boost over my previous Pentium 4 2.6HT...
i have a 2500k, and can say with confidence that it is easily the best bang for the buck available under $100 right now. and if you pair it with a decent board for ocing (i personally have an ASUS P8Z68-V LE) with a 4.5 ghz oc, you can run titles like BF1 at 90 fps on an online domination game (have not played conquest yet) and the graphics settings just depend on your gpu. it is an insanely good chip. if you have a little bit extra to spare, get a really good Z77 board and a good cooler, and you could get to 4.8, maybe even 5 ghz, if you have some luck.
guys, intel i7 3930k is around 100eur on ebay, it has 12k score in passmark, which is 2time more then i5 2500k and mobos are also cheap, nonbrand around 100eur too, i got one nonbrand and works perfectly
Hey man been watching you for a while, I love them more and more each day and you even helped me with my budget rig. Keep up the good work bro
I remember using the Q6600 and using the Tape & Pin mod to OC it to 3.0GHz on a Stock Intel Board, due to OC limitation of the board. I still have it saved for a budget build PC if i needed to.
Forget the $9 Q6600 and get a $13 Q8400 instead, faster clocked, supports sse4.1, it newer, lower TDP, and has better performance
Great vídeo man, you have a very good channel
I remember when this channel had only 10k subscribers :D Good Job
I have just ordered a 1155 motherboard and 2500 as my 'budget' upgrade. I got an old case in a swap and will RGB it on the cheap.
The problem is motherboard availability and if you're going to buy a used one you might think of reliability. Well I'm thinking of doing my own scrapyard hunt. Thanks bro! Informative vid.
I have the Xeon 5450 in my Dell OptiPlex 380, along with GT1030, 8GB DDR3 and Win10, runs a lot of games pretty well.
Speaking about AMD CPUs:
There are a lot of good Phenom II and Phenom III processors out there on ebay. The good thing is that you can spend 15$ on your CPU and still upgrade it because of the AM3 Socket and its downwards compatibility to AM2.
Also I have good experiences with FX CPUs because of very cheap used bundles on Ebay.
Great video! This is just the info I was looking for
You can find 1st gen i7s for about 50$ maybe a little more, also a really good option, 4 cores and 8 threads with overclock as well, although 1156 and 1366 mobos are not as common now.
I've got i7 2600k and i luv it. Still performs nicely on modern games even without oc.
almost time to jumps to ryzen but still running an a10 6800k @4.9g and playing all games maxed at 1080. apu only cost me £90 about 4 years ago :)
I built my first PC a couple months ago with a Ryzen 5 1600, but I really want to build another one with budget parts.
I love when the mobos for these CPUs are actually cheap too :D. I'm used of seeing LGA 2011 processors in these kind of lists :p.
Your old video made me replace my i5 650 with the X3430. I never looked back ^^
Xeon X3450 is still a very good CPU in 2017, got mine for 20 AUD and overclocked it to 4 ghz with a Cooler Master Hyper D92.
Wow, I'd never think that the Xeon X3430 (witch is in my pc currently) would show up
I use a fx 8350 which is one of the best USED amd cpus to buy if your on a budget because lots of people were upgrading to ryzen when it came out.
I think the Xeon E3 1225 is the best value, I bought one for $30
recently , it is essentially an i5 2400 with the better Hd3000 IGP, I
also bought an 1155 M/B with I/O shield for $15 it was pulled from an optiplex 390. And then it was $5 for a dell cooler that screws into the backplate. I also got lucky and bought an 8gb 1866 ECC udimm for $15.
i got an i7 870 for 25 euro including shipping!!! its a great performer for that price im so happy with it
I use a Xeon E5450 with the sticker mod for over a year now and i am very happy with it.
For all still with the socket 775, I definitively recommend the E5450 over the Q6600, right now costs just not much more and it's a lot faster. Also usually they sell them with the mod already installed and working.
and welcome to another video so satisfying xD
Opteron G34 socket and nothing else and even dual socket f is an absolute monster. I have two used servers both dual soc one G34 and one socket f and they both are maxed out on ecc memory with the soc f costing total $575 and the G34 soc costing $750 total. The only thing is it takes patience and time to wait for deals that can't be beat.
Is the X3430 a 36bit processor because it says "Physical Address Extensions
36-bit" on the intel arc website
Currently got a Xeon E5450 on order for $26 AUD, with the motherboard socket and BIOS already modified (faulty PSU killed the previous X5450...which cost $50 3 years ago). I'd have ordered something LGA1155 (I could have bought an i5 3450 for $45 AUD), but to get a motherboard of at least as good as my LGA775 board would have cost well over $150.
