@@yourlocaldavid6656 there should be no problem at all but you'd better check the supported ram list of your motherboard (should be easy to find with Google).

The problem is the weak CPU

    • @KainArkanos
      @KainArkanos 5 лет назад +12

@@danimayb It is not a myth and I suggest you do actual research before you start spouting BS. In most cases, it may not, infact, be an issue. However, in games that have heavy CPU usage already, running single channel increases CPU usage more than dual channel does, effectively making the CPU more of a bottleneck than it otherwise would be. Your CPU can only interact with the rest of your system so fast, and the speed and bandwidth of your memory affects this. The more work you cause for your CPU by running less channels of RAM, the more its usage increases, the more likely it is going to become a bottleneck.

My approach would to be start again with a new case (I’d recycle the case for parts). I think a repair is always harder than a new build, so always try to get as close to a ‘new-build’ as I can justify.
That said you did a good clean-up job on it. But you can’t hide that sub £30 damaged case. On eBAY you might be looking at £170, but that is a loss, a replacement case another £30 would only just increase the sale price to £200 but would make it shift faster- especially with some RGB and a transparent side-panel. People buying things like this like a bit of bling because they know/should know that £200 doesn’t really get them a gaming rocket ship- but something that will pass muster for light gaming/productivity while looking good at a quick inspection.
As regards CEX I avoid them, to be honest eBay isn’t that great either these days- hard to make a profit. When I was, I would wait until I had about 10 PCs worth of parts, order 10 bling cases from China (for the discount) and do a straight weekend build. These days it is barely worth it for the profit unless you get lucky and some bidding war erupts because you just got lucky on picking a novel PC case design that grabbed attention.
That said the Chinese prices aren’t what they used to be which squeezes margins to the point that you’d struggle to make any profit.

Nice video :) Though I'd definitely upgrade that RAM; single channel RAM isn't going to be the best solution.
Plus, it supports 4x RAM sticks, so 4x 4GB RAM (16GB total) is easy to get, and you could even get 2x 8GB or 4x 8GB for 32GB max.

I very much like your videos, but there's one small thing i dislike in this one, the "I dislike liquid cooling" part. I can understand you if you look at liquid cooling just through AiO's (they don't really perform all that better than air coolers), but believe me, as someone who also came from budget building and grinding to get my system just a bit better step by step, custom water cooling is the biggest step you can take in custom building. In fact, i'd like to see you do a budget custom watercooling loop, be it used parts or new from aliexpress or something; it's not just about aesthetics, temperature gains (or rather losses) can be significant.
Keep these good videos coming =)

01:50 in the video, you can see that you have bottom holes, only one of the bottom feet should have been removed to balance the case (front up back down on table), this way there'd have been space under the case for airflow (like for example the MSI Nightblade MI 3 or the ASUS M32AD)

My only critique is that you talked about integrated graphics, the FX series of processors are notorious for not supporting integrated graphics. I have a mATX motherboard where the gpu covers the pci slot for a network card, and because the motherboard ethernet drivers weren't preinstalled I had to use my laptop to download the drivers, then transfer them via usb to my pc just because of that issue.

If you can't use screws to attach the foot that came off, you could just have used 3M (double-sided) tape. I did that to attach feet to my cable box since it gets hot and wanted airflow underneath. Whenever I turn it back in I can just pop the feet and 3M tape off.

If you OC the 8320 it usually helps alleviate the stuttering problems. I had a FX 8320 that I replaced with a Ryzen 1600X. You should be able to get 4.2 to 4.5 GHZ (or more if you're lucky) fairly easy if your motherboards up to the task. 970 chip set might be harder to get that 4.5 but a 990 FX chip set usually has a better VRM and should be able to handle a good OC if the CPU is up to the task.

Mostly about cooling (both board and CPU). 970m (micro ATX board, garbage 4 phase) at 4.8 GHz above stock Xeon in terms of stability (does Intel even test the chips? They don’t always handle my tests). It took $3 in mods, some 15mm square heatsinks and 2x 40mm fans, but it was rock solid for 24/7 fluid flow simulation/rendering/etc on a 120mm AIO for FX-8350. I now have it cranked at 1.7 Vcore for 5.5 GHz on phase cooler (sadly, that’s the BIOS voltage limit on my board), but it does fine.

i feel it should be said, from someone who has experienced this, but using hardware and tools for securing a cooler to a CPU that doesn't have a hard stop or a spring for relief. or at the very least use a torque screw driver or wrench, because it is very easy to brick a motherboard or damage a CPU by applying to much pressure, on top of that almost every LGA socket requires a set amount of torque to allow for proper contact with the pins, and PGA doesn't require much, this is why Epyc and Thredripper come with a torque wrench with a special bit to prevent some random Pearson using a drill to secure there several thousand dollar CPU down to its death

how much ram and whats the speed? if you mentioned it i missed it, i am interested to see if you put 16gb in it, would the frame drops in bf5 go away, i have a similar age and spec system to this which just recently suffers the same issue with frame drops on bf1, this has only just developed as it ran fine before. good vid by the way.

the pc in this video has several problems
first is only single channel ram, it needs to be dual channel
8gb is also on the low end for modern titles so 16gb really helps
his gpu only has 2gb Vram which is not enough
and I don't think he overclocked the cpu and FX cpus really really really need to be overclocked.
are you running 8gb in single or dual channel?
more so than ram speed, a boost to dual 16gb ram would help with stutters
      and VRAM amount

Just one week ago I replaced my 10-or-so-year old Watercooling with a Noctua NH-D15 - the temps are better (but the thermal paste was 5 years old and dry) and it looks way cooler (hehe) plus the PC weighs like 1.5 Kilos less.
It was a nice journey with watercooling, but it always didn't seem 100% right.

Well done mate. I believe those stutters might go away if you install 2x4 gigs of ram. One stick is holding the system back.

Serious question tho, it's under a 24 month warranty and it came completely fucked up why did they not include the new bracket in the warranty for free?

Were it not that we are separated by an Ocean, I'd happily buy a Random Gaming in HD refurbished PC from you directly.

I have the Same Build almost 95 % But with an RX 580 and 16 Gigs of Dual Channel Corsair Vengeance Ram. The Games you tested on medium settings I played on High settings easily without any major fps drops with a few graphics tweakings like Shadows and DOF. Even few months ago when I had R9 270X 4GB OC Edition I played TW3 on High. No idea why u r getting that FPS on Medium. Might be the single channel Ram
