PLEASE DONT REMOVE THE AVOCADO STUBS. I manage a produce department and this tip RUINS avocados. It allows air into the flesh and actually causes the browning that you’re looking for. Gentle squeeze is the best way to pick an avocado
Yes! This! I always get slightly unripe avocados and look for firm that have stems still attached. Once home I set them aside till softened THEN remove the stem, usually after 1-2 days, and refrigerate for up to 7 days.
These are all great choices! Really great variety and definitely enough protein to get you through the day! I use almost all of these on a weekly basis as well!
First of all thank you for showing a WELL LOVED sheet pan. I know this is weird but more often RUclipsrs show spanking brand new pans. My favorite pans are clean but you can tell. I use them often. I am an a Type 2 Diabetic so my doctor recommended sweet potatoes. I screen shot your list so I would remember what to buy. I make avocado cookies!!!! As of today a new subbie.
In my country we eat avocados for dessert! The first time I saw and tasted avocados as a savoury food was when I travelled. At home, we blend avocados with sugar and lemon juice, then put the cream in the fridge for a few hours before serving. It's sweet and creamy, with the kick of acidity from the lemon. Truly delicious and addicting. Feel free to try it out!
Me too, tho I'm from America. My Filipino mom raised us with avocado milkshakes (avo, milk, vanilla ice cream, sugar). I STILL make a version of this for bfast (cold avo, almond milk, a little blue Agave). But when i moved to CA and saw GUACAMOLE for the first time - (avo with onions, garlic and lime!?) it was VERY alien to me. Of course I quickly learned avos are fabulous BOTH ways. 🙂
That’s probably true. However...having a routine where you do / drink the same thing every morning does set up your circadian rhythms for the day. So if lemon water is that thing for you, go for it.
Definitely my favorite vegan food blogger. Not only are recipes amazing you have the sweetest voice and such a pleasant demeanor. Ordering your cool book today. Thank you
Hi Laurie! How sweet are you! I really appreciate your support and thoughtful comment. Thank you for ordering my book as well - I hope you enjoy cooking from it!
Of course sweet potatoes! But I live in Uzbekistan at the moment where they don't have any. There is one variety called Korean Sweet potatoes (hard to find) that taste just like regular potatoes to me. None of that soft orange sweetness at all. So loving your channel!
Under any moon, I will find you. So pleasant to know someone like you exists because I am a new vegetarian, and I think Veganism is the last step for a healthy lifestyle. Your fixin sound so delicious....Can't wait to make my own...Thank You and Much Love Nisha...Robert The Bold
Those string bags are great for produce. The mesh construction allows them to expand to carry a lot of produce, but they also don't take up a ton of room. My mom had one that she would regularly take to the grocery store and farmer's markets. It held up really well for years.
Nisha you’re the first vegan cooking channel I subbed to and I feel so lucky to have found you!!! You’re an amazing human hehehe you’re so cute , funny , and helpful!!
Thank you so much! I’ve struggled to become totally vegan/plant based, but I’ve come a long way, and your videos are so inspiring and uplifting that I feel renewed purpose and hope each time I watch! I just wish I had found videos like this and had started my plant based journey many years ago. Please continue this good work! Louise
I'm not vegan nor vegetarian but always tried to as I have digestive issues and intolerance. I did make most of from scratch, many western option is not cheap in Asia but also have many Asian food is cheaper. so far, your videos is more realistic than most of other vegan health idea.
I love your sense of humor, you always make me laugh! And you have so many good ideas to make weekday meals more interesting! Going to try that chickpea-avocado mash for lunch.
Thank you Victoria, you are too kind! I love that chickpea-avocado mash. Just add some lemon juice (maybe a little zest too for freshness), sea salt and pepper, and you're good to go!
Regular. I don’t like sweet potatoes unless in a stew or curry, but I m working on myself to incorporate and eat them more, because they are good for me. God bless
Love sweet potatoes, and all 10 of them. New to being a vegan. Over the last 1-2yrs. I've eaten more plant based meals and for the last month and a half I made the leap. I love all the great recipes and the ease if your videos. Thank you.I'm enjoying my new adventure/journey.
I am new here ❤️ I have watched several of your videos in the last week. They have all been very helpful!! I’m not vegan, but I have been trying to eat a more plant based diet for the last few weeks. Avocados are a staple in my house!! As for potatoes, I love the white ones and am trying to add more sweet potatoes in my diet. I also love lemon water when plain water gets boring. Thank you for sharing all your staples!!
I love your video. I will say though that I feel like sweet potatoes are talked about way more than regular potatoes these days. I think the misconception is that white potatoes aren't health and sweet potatoes are :(
Hi Addison! I am so happy you love my video. I think many people probably associate white potatoes with french fries, but I agree that white potatoes (depending on their preparation) can be a wholesome, healthy food!
I just love your personality and sense of humor, you always make me laugh! And those are definitely all grocery Staples for me as well! Especially the dark chocolate 😜 you should try the dark chocolate truffle bar from trader Joe's. I love it! 😍
Aww Rachel! How sweet are you. I'm so happy I can make you laugh over the internet hehe. And yes I need to try it because it sounds outrageously delicious!
My favourite kale salad is super easy and delicious. Massage the chopped kale pieces with walnut or avocado oil and salt until tender, then add walnuts and Parmesan. I make a huge bowl and it keeps for days. I do like to add lemon juice on top when I go to serve it. I never thought to add sweet potatoes to a smoothie. I do add it to mashed potatoes occasionally and to my homemade dog food. Regular potatoes just have a different texture and are especially good roasted. Ever had Greek lemon potatoes? Yum! Sweet potatoes on their own are just too sweet for me.
In my country, we love sweet potatoes more than the regular, I am not a vegan but I do have a vegetarian and vegan day in my week lol. So here I am. I definitely encourage people to eat sweet potatoes more than the regular one because of the rich nutrients they have. Getting so many inspirations from your channel. Thank you.
This video was amazing . It’s helpful for this vegan journey :) I’m very impressed with your channel, content and your journey into this realm. Excited for the things to come for you!!! 🌱🙌🏼🥰
i love both sweet potatoes and regular potatoes, just depends on what i'm making :) this video is awesome, Nisha! love the edits and thoughtful content. learned some great tips to help me incorporate these ingredients into recipes I make often!
Love it, love it- I am vegetarian all these years and always wondering how to cut down dairy and eggs from my life and you have it all on your channel. I already got your book and wondering can you make some video of the recipes from the book or new for working family to convert them into slow cooked or freezer meals? Keep the great work as your recipes and smile both are addictive 😀😀
Hi Trish! How sweet are you! I am so thrilled that my recipes are helping you cut down on dairy and eggs. I will definitely try to do a video about freezer friendly instant pot meals! Hope you are enjoying my book :)
I switched from vegetarian to vegan 2 years ago. My advice is do it slowly, over a few months. I tried to do it too quickly (my daughter wanted to learn how to be vegan before she left for college) and I had a very stressful month. Now it seems really easy to me, but just allow yourself to switch one or 2 products per month. This channel is great ❤️
Thanks for this. Lots of information here. I will watch a few more times with a note pad. That Greek dish Giros us to pronounced "gear-ross". Thanks again
I have made so many vegan recipes over the years. Yours are the best. Every recipe works every time. Thank you! you are amazing! my sister and I love your food. Best of luck in all you do : )
Just found your channel and love all your recipes! A good Kale hack; turns out if you chop Kale, let it sit for 40 minutes and THEN rinse it, you will actually remove most of the bitterness which is the result of an enzyme that is released when it is bruised.
Hi Margaret, thank you so much! Yes that is a great tip! I had heard about the bruising/tearing tip from a book called eating on the wild side, but didn't know about letting it rest. Thanks for sharing!
I love both regular and sweet potatoes. I love kale too. I love to mix it with other leafy greens to make yummy salads.💕 thanks for the tip on ripening avocados!
I enjoy mashed avocado with salt & garlic on toast. Yum! I also love sweet potatoes, but never realized how many ways that you can make them! In a smoothie? Sounds delicious! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
You are amazing!!!! I love all your video! My respect and love to you! I love all your ingredients 😘🤣...and ideas Thank you for making my life more healthy and EASY!!!
I love this! Very helpful. As someone who tries to reduce food waste, I'm always looking for tips to make sure I've got what I need (and only what I need) in stock in my kitchen.
Oh I love sweet potatoes! They're awesome in the oven (I'm definitely going to try some recipes with veggies on top of them, I'd just been using them as a simple side addition) or in stews (lentil stews with sweet potatoes and mushrooms is one of my favourite recipes). I still prefer "normal" potatoes when I want french fries, though. I like the avocado in that perfect "ripeness" too, but I do like using it when it's a bit on the firm side for salads, like a mix of little square pieces of avocado, black eyed peas, seasoning it with herbs, a bit of salt and lemon juice. I'd also like to say I've only recently discovered your channel and I'm wowed by it all, the cooking, the editing, the ideas, the recipes, the way you explain everything, your voice being so soothing and friendly...I don't even know what else! I love it! Thank you!
Great list. I'd add cauliflower. My family loves blackened cauliflower which we use almost as a condiment and "creamy" soups that I make using a cauliflower and roasted garlic with onions and veg stock simmered and puréed as the base ( it has the same mouth feel).
You're very welcome :) I hope you'll enjoy your first sweet potato smoothie! I really love them with cacao powder, plant milk, cinnamon, and nut butter!
I'd you like avacado toast, you need to try Guacamole toast. It's my new favorite thing. I too the guaca mole with additional diced tomatoes. It's the best snack ever.
I just bought your cooking book and this morning I made the tofu scramble for breakfast. I also discovered the Indian Black Salt (which does taste like eggs). Your shopping bag is actually what we have been using in France for years! I have 2 of them and now Longchamp came out with their own version…..
All my essentials too! Sweet potatoes are definitely underrated. They're so good on everything! Love all your videos so much Nisha. You make everything fun!
Thank you! I hope you'll check out my book and enjoy cooking from it :) I love pairing greens with grains and topping it with plant proteins like lentils or chickpeas or tofu/tempeh, and finishing it with something creamy like hummus or avocado!
Yum looks delicious i am making all soon perfect for my office lunches and snacks drooling over my samsung galaxy j4 love your recipes making me hungry Thanks Ramya
Speaking as a doctor... Everyone can digest and utilize all the nutrients in sweet potatoes. White potatoes are a different species altogether... they are in the nightshade family, which means that approximately 67% of the American population doesn’t even have the right enzymes to digest them... and if that’s the case, there IS a physiological/ symptomatic price to pay. The symptomatic pattern will vary from person to person, but to generalize and offer a little free health advice here ..... no one with asthma, or joint/tendon pain, or any kind of arthritic (personal or familial) tendencies should be eating anything in the nightshade family. So go to the sweet potato, instead of the white potatoes, when you can. Hoping this guides and helps someone.
Your videos are so fun and informative. You can tell you put a lot of effort in. Great job! You gain another subscriber!! I’ve been going through all your videos - I love it
So happy you love my videos, thank you! And yes, there should be some app where you can automatically avoid online recipes that call for 1 garlic clove lol
I love your list. Sweet potatoes or other potatoes, which do I like better? Yes. will be looking up a few of these (sweet potatoes, dark chocolate, almond butter or that frozen banana one). Your theory on lemon juice isn't true, but if you like it is high in Vitamin C. However, lemon is a great ingredient. I prefer peanut butter, and Trader Joe's has a great one--Valencia peanut butter. SO much better than the rest. PB fans should try.
I use to prefer potatoes but because I did not know what to do with sweet potatoes. I used to only eat them drowned in butter, sugar and cinnamon. Then I discovered sweet potato fries and started experimenting with sweet potatoes. I prefer in stews and curries. And I am obsessed with purple sweet potatoes now, I can eat it baked with just salt and some cinnamon.
Love sweet potatoes, especially the Japanese variety. Can’t wait to try them in a smoothie instead of frozen banana, just to change it up. Love your recipes and videos 💞. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your time and information my son is vegan and loves it but we want to learn how to prepare meals for when he visits and and your videos are are lovely and so much information
You and your cooking are such a delight. I only wish people would stop mentioning the "dirty dozen" because that list is not accurate or scientifically supported. It turns out it was conducted by an activist group for organic produce. They totally failed to mentioned that each fruit and vegetable on their list is still way below allowed residue. You could still eat like 10,000 servings of kale without any impact. We shouldn't call healthy fruits and vegetables "dirty" since this it may negatively influence consumers into not purchasing any fresh produce. Also not everybody has the budget for organic produce...
Ahh, i didn't know that. I would love to do more reading on this. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I also don't like the word dirty, and I appreciate you raising those points. Thanks for the food for thought :)
I love and appreciate this list as its a good way to prioritize your organic grocery dollars. Would you really want to eat that many servings of heavily sprayed produce?
Wow ! You’re amazing! Apparently I already subscribed to you...then promptly forgot. Thank you for being out there..I’ll pay closer attention this time (and use your cookbook). Generous to include recipes in your description. You must be a wonderful leader in the plant based food world. Grateful. ❤️ and have a beautiful day. Side note: is it really necessary to have a food processor? Already storing a lot of appliances (2 instant pots, VitaMix, juicer, toaster, coffeemaker, etc. - I have a separate container to grind dry goods for VitaMix...and oh, the Kitchenaid). Where to store c Another appliance? Hang it from the ceiling? Haha
Hi there! Thank you for stopping by and hope you'll enjoy my cookbook :) if you have a Vitamix and a dry goods container, you can hold off on the food processor :)
So I've always wondered when you take the stump off the avocado doesn't it keep that part from turning green? So if you see a bunch without stumps cause somebody flicked them all off I guess you should just check it for hardness?
Let just tell you I tried sweet potato with almond butter and strawberry jam DELICIOUS!!!!! Eating right now !!! I'm so glad that i found your channel and I just subscribe as well!!!💖💖💖
I can't eat sweet potatoes most of the times because they are too soft and I have sensory issues. I have found a way to prepare them that doesn't make me sick but it's still not good. I also avoid Avocados because they need so much water to grow which means that there is a huge water shortage in many parts of South America.
PLEASE DONT REMOVE THE AVOCADO STUBS. I manage a produce department and this tip RUINS avocados. It allows air into the flesh and actually causes the browning that you’re looking for. Gentle squeeze is the best way to pick an avocado
I had no clue! Thank you so much for this advice
Thank you! I had no idea!
Ahhh this makes sense! Thank you for telling us!
Yes! This! I always get slightly unripe avocados and look for firm that have stems still attached. Once home I set them aside till softened THEN remove the stem, usually after 1-2 days, and refrigerate for up to 7 days.
Thank you for the tip, I had no idea.

Same! The concept of savory avocado like guacamole was bizarre to me when I first moved to the US.
Do you heat it up to make the sugar melt? I can imagine it will be very "grainy" if u just blend avocado and sugar and put it in the fridge.
We make an avocado 'chocolate mousse' by blending it with cocoa powder (or carob) and maple syrup.
Lemon water doesn't get your metabolism started any more than consuming anything (else) does. This trope/myth is repeated everywhere :x
That’s probably true. However...having a routine where you do / drink the same thing every morning does set up your circadian rhythms for the day. So if lemon water is that thing for you, go for it.
Whatever this woman does is clearly working because she is a stunner.
Is it just me or can anyone else not stop watching cuz her voice is so soothing? ❤️💯

That sounds absolutely delicious! Must try soon :)
@@RainbowPlantLife I think the salt and lemon help to soften and break down the kale.

You're very welcome :) Hope these ideas will make your next grocery trip fun :)
I love sweet potatoes. I never thought about putting them in a smoothie 😊 thanks for the inspiration.
Wonderful video! I have been eating more plant based meals and just thrilled I found your channel.
I just found your channel, and may I say,p that, YOU ABSOLUTELY, ROCK!!! Thnku. I have already made three of your Yummy Vegan Creations!!!! 💪🏼❤️👍🏻🤗🙏🏽
Hi there! That’s so lovely to hear :) so happy you love my channel and glad you’re making my recipes!
Inspirational cook, so positive and effortless
I just bought your cooking book and this morning I made the tofu scramble for breakfast. I also discovered the Indian Black Salt (which does taste like eggs). Your shopping bag is actually what we have been using in France for years! I have 2 of them and now Longchamp came out with their own version…..
All my essentials too! Sweet potatoes are definitely underrated. They're so good on everything! Love all your videos so much Nisha. You make everything fun!
Yay, so happy you love my videos - thank you so much Helen!
Omg sweet potato with PB&J 🤯🤯 can’t wait to try!!!!!
So so good! Almost like dessert!
You’re right, girl. Sweet potatoes are 100% better than regular potatoes, though I love them too.
Try making kale chips in an air fryer if you have one. They are AWESOME! So crispy!
Tell me how you make kale chip please
L💚ve it. Your cookbook look promising. 🌈 Greens w/ grains been on my mind. 🙌🏽
Thank you! I hope you'll check out my book and enjoy cooking from it :) I love pairing greens with grains and topping it with plant proteins like lentils or chickpeas or tofu/tempeh, and finishing it with something creamy like hummus or avocado!
@@RainbowPlantLife Goodness 🙌🏽 I'll keep you posted!

Sweet potato in a smoothie sounds awesome!
Yes, you gotta try it! Makes it creamy and sweet! (I don’t include the skin).
Thanks for the tip! It will be a great way to get my kids to eat sweet potatoes!:)
Your ideas are so clear and useful and creative love them x
Such good tips! Thank you!
Had no clue how to make kale less hard - thanks!
Your videos are so fun and informative. You can tell you put a lot of effort in. Great job! You gain another subscriber!! I’ve been going through all your videos - I love it
I like to use avacado as a binder for vegan burgers.
I love your idea videos 👏 And I share the same pet peeve about garlic lol 😁
So happy you love my videos, thank you! And yes, there should be some app where you can automatically avoid online recipes that call for 1 garlic clove lol
I just bought your cook book. You are wonderful thank you for all hard work and information 💜
I love all potatoes. Hummus toast, that is genious.
So easy and versatile! This week I topped mine with roasted winter squash, smashed garlic and tahini and it was SO good!
And if anyone can't have or can't afford almond butter, peanut butter is fine and very healthy (as long as the only ingredients are peanuts)
@@RainbowPlantLife Thank you for replying. Always looking forward to your new uploads. :)
aww that’s so nice to hear! I’m glad you enjoy my videos! (Just uploaded a new one) :)
I love and appreciate this list as its a good way to prioritize your organic grocery dollars. Would you really want to eat that many servings of heavily sprayed produce?
You're channel and recipes are amazing! Thank you!
You should publish a recipe book with all these items. I will for sure buy it in a heartbeat 💓.
nisha you're so helpful thank you for making such amazing videos! seriously making my transition to veganism so easy and delish!
That is the best Instant Pot cookbook I have seen. And it’s vegan!
Aww thank you so much!
I looove sweet potatoes, but I usually eat more regular potatoes because they are grown locally 😊
Makes sense :) Eating locally is always so much more delicious!
Where to store c
Another appliance?
💕💜💕 100% Love Sweet Potatoes over a whole lot of other foods 💕🤎💕
Love your vegan tips and recipes..So pretty too! Thanks for sharing!
