- Hey guys! Welcome to my first KLM video and back to another trip by my awesome mom, thejazzmom13 :D Because I've never flown on the airline before, all opinions regarding the flight are hers and my sisters, and are told from their POV. I unfortunately couldn't go because I was in college at the time. Anyways...
Today I'm flying the Royal Dutch Airlines from Washington Dulles International Airport, located in Virginia, over the Atlantic to Amsterdam, Netherlands! I thought KLM had lots of nice touches here and there and the crew definitely made the experience onboard very nice. There were power ports located at every seat along with IFE screens and USB ports. The seats were pretty comfortable and legroom was alright...granted everything was made better by the fact the plane was not filled at all. There are some things regarding the cabin and seats, though, that can be improved on their A330s such as the overheads being larger (if possible) and the armrests in between the seats to go all the way up. The cabin itself could probably use a refresh too as you'll soon see on video a much better hard product on their Dreamliner. The biggest negative on the flight was by far the food. There wasn't enough of it and most of it was not great at all. If you are a gluten free person, might wanna consider just getting one of the main meals (meatballs or pasta) because what KLM offers is pretty pathetic. Luckily, you can always go to the galley and pick up some snacks...but I'd definitely recommend grabbing some food beforehand or after your flight. But, all-in-all was a nice experience onboard KLM! Hope you guys enjoy!

5:32 - United's C and D concourses would be all of their domestic flights, right? Wouldn't United's international flights be at the International terminal with the foreign airlines? That's what I've thought anyway because the international terminal is where immigration customs are. They'd arrive at that terminal since the passengers would need to get off plane to go through passport control, and most aircrafts arrive at the same gate that their next flight departs from. I may be mistaken on some of this though
@@alvexok5523United’s international flights still arrive at their C and D concourses where every United flight arrives, there is separate customs for United. The international terminal is composed of every other airline that goes to the airport including all the international ones.

Nice trip! During bedtime, did you lie down in seats H and J while sitting in the window seat? Main cabin passengers have to book the entire row themselves in case of nap time mid-flight.
how is the service on KLM ive been to Amsterdam before but flew Delta Business. hope the videos keep coming its interesting to see them all i cant keep up lol.

Another great video you made here on my home and most flown airline. Definitely agree with your conclusion, meals can be a hit or miss with KLM. Both of those gluten free meals look very bad!
For me the crew always stands out when flying KLM, almost always friendly :)

thejazzguy13 Aviation for me they are one of the best in Europe! (But I may be a bit biased! Haha)
If you look at their two biggest competitors Lufthansa & British Airways, BA has a low cost product intra Europe nowadays (as you have experienced yourself). Lufthansa is a so called 5 star airline but their crew are quite “robotic” (in my experiences), while the KLM crew almost always are very good!
Its been over a decade since I've transited though Dulles, had no idea about the underground people mover system. My last flight out of there was a snowy winter flight & took a mobile lounge out to my plane. It probably could of been the same mobile lounge I took in 1992, or even 1896.
Awesome trip report! It looked like a comfortable flight with so many empty seats. The catering service needed to be improved.

Just wondering. Wouldn’t you go through customs instead of walking past the other gates when you land? That’s what I did when I arrived at Heathrow.

The lighted buildings you have seen are actually glass greenhouses where they are growing a lot of flowers and vegetables. They use a lot of light to grow.
Seems like a waste of electricity for something that doesn't necessarily need artificial light to grow?
@@christiankelly6321 Without this "grow" light it would be nearly impossible to grow so many types of flowers in the Dutch climate.
Hi I was just checking on RUclips and found your videos....I saw one of your videos travelling from usa to india in klm Airlines and I also stay in usa and planning to go india via Amsterdam....does indian passport holders require transit visa in Amsterdam??? Plz reply as I have to travel india asap due to emergency....
When I was looking at the thumbnail at first I thought the A/C (aircraft) is a MD-11 then I read in the description “Filmed: February 2020” and for a split second I was confused then realized, a A330 is in the thumbnail. Long day in quarantine. (#FirstWorldProblems)
Thank you for showing the GF (Gluten Free) menu, it is good to know KLM has one (a GF menu).

Brilliant report as usual. Not one of KLMs finer moments methinks. It's very rare for me to say this about KLM. Perhaps I wasn't seeing things properly, but the meagre food offerings and the rather Spartan appearance of the cabin let the whole experience down. I may be wrong. Flew on this flight in 2015 when i went to italy. Flew premium economy. Overall nice flight, food was okay, staff was great. Unfortunately when we got to amsterdam they had changed my second flight time so that we had only 30 minutes to get throught security checkpoint and to our other gate. Luckily there was a security guy who had let us go through the premium line so i got to my second flight on time.

I really enjoyed your flight report. I guess, that flight was so empty because you flew in February. I think, you can see the cost cutting in certain things - the quality of food, that plain pillow. But overall, KLM offers good, reliable service. And the crews are usually very friendly.... way too friendly sometimes. Thanks for sharing!

The food of course is largely dependant on the service at the departing airport..

Great video!! Which airline has the best food on their overseas flights?? I flew American to London and the food was really good! Then I flew Delta to CDG Paris and the food was not as good but there was more food and more frequent!!!

Jazzmom is a very gracious 'avgeek' for doing this for you! I do find it disconcerting that even though she was doing all the filming,the onscreen captions use first-person 'I' as if you were there personally. Since the a/c wasn't full,am surprised your mom didn't ask a FA if it was possible to move up some rows,perhaps catch some of that Airbus engine growl.7am arrival time in AMS yet still dark--having flown for 7hrs EB,I want to see some daylight! And will agree that the food selection is poor and chintzy in portion size. Since this was made before all this virus crap,probably can assume food service on most airlines since then has gone downhill even further--somewhat of a face reveal of Jazzmom in the lav and walking to a window in the AMS terminal

When you fly from any US airport to Europe, all carriers deal with American catering. That’s why I alway buy sandwiches at Potbelly at Dulles airPort. When you fly from Amsterdam, you deal with KCS KLM catering. The food is better! Best I ever had was Singapore airlines. When flying from the US. We deal again with the worst catering.
And you know jaedah airport have luxury terminal building

The only "problem" i have with KLM is that outside of the meal service they don't have much of a drink service besides the galley bar. Its not a real problem but they could spend some more attention to that

My experience is that I have never ever had a good tasting GFML. They are always boring, really bland and repetitive. It is sad, really. (though, still happy I get to eat!)

My biggest surprise if that NO ONE, I mean NO ONE is wearing a mask, at least at the beginning of the video. Then I saw later on that it was actually filmed early 2020 before the shit hit the fan. Curious why it took 4-5 months to post.

I am not happy with KLM at the moment. All flights in and out of Uganda were cancelled because the border was closed. However, they scheduled a flight on July 4th from Entebbe to Amsterdam, ( this flight and others following are still on their website). I was booked on flight KLM 537 and then had onward flights with Delta to Wichita, Kansas. All flights and my bookings were confirmed. Two days ago I received an e-mail to notify me KLM 537 was cancelled. And no contact available to get information about rebooking a future flight even though using all the correct channels but receiving no response. My daughters in the U.S.A. have been in contact with them and got nowhere. They are now scrambling to get me on another airline at considerable expense. So, I am no longer a faithful client of KLM!
Richard I probably did come across as someone ignorant of the global situation and totally unaware and uncaring about the plight of many others stranded. Perhaps I should have said that I had been rebooked 3 times by the airline and 3 times cancelled and wondered why they continued to book and confirm? However the Entebbe Airport is still closed and I am still here in Uganda and, yes, wouldn’t it be great if a private jet came along!
