Full Flight: Spirit Airlines A321 Fort Lauderdale to Baltimore (FLL-BWI)

- Hey guys! Welcome to the last video on this disastrous trip I took back in March where I started in Latrobe, PA and ended up in Baltimore after 4 stops :D When I stepped inside FLL's Terminal 4, I had no idea what was awaiting me. I tried my best to explain the situation in the video, but ya basically they switched my flight to the next day because there wasn't another flight back to Latrobe that day. I didn't want to sit around in South Florida overnight due to rising COVID cases in the area at the time, so I was looking at other possibilities of where to go that day. There was a Pittsburgh flight leaving a little after 10pm, which was 7+ hrs away, or there was a Baltimore flight leaving at 4:30pm which was about 45 min. away. Rather than wait for the last option of the day and hope that it actually takes off, I decided to just go with the BWI option and get outta Florida. Luckily, Spirit let me change for free while also providing me some food vouchers and later a $50 future flight voucher which actually turned out to be a bit bogus (It only counts towards the "flight" price, not taxes/bags/seats/etc. so you really have to pick a price that's at least $90 and so you'll have to pay at least $40). As far as this flight I flew, it was OK. Great scenery for about 1/2 the flight and nice clear skies over the Atlantic for the other part. Friendly flight attendants/pilots, a relatively smooth boarding experience, and an on time departure/arrival also were pros. However, the tiny tray table and seatback straps still are a nuisance & I'd like to see Spirit actually implement WiFi on their whole fleet already. But that was the least of my worries on this flight :D Hope you guys enjoy!

NEVER. Flight attendants always nice, usually get to destination early, pilots seem to be competent.
@Abz Mo true but the real thing with most people is the same with both Frontier and Allegiant, they have to small a fleet for the operations they try to run. For example Allegiant has 105 aircraft and 120 destinations, this seems proportional but its not, this leads them to cancel flights randomly and fuck up operations across the country since now those planes cant takeoff or land and do the next flight they were supposed to do. Not to mention the crappy way they handle their passengers when it happens.
Renee Newton agreed....I have flown 10s of thousands of miles with spirit and frontier and have never had more than a delayed bag or in one case, a cancelled flight due to weather issues. It’s cheap..it’s not Singapore or Emirates airlines or even JetBlue. Planes are all fairly new, as clean as anything else and crews have always been great. The big factor, unfortunately, is the flying public who think they they deserve a luxury experience or people who are just too stupid to be flying. The rules are clear, the fares are cheap. If I want a wide seat, champagne and a full meal, I’ll choose first class on another airline.

Great video jazzguy! Second video I watched of yours and I think I'm hooked! Great seeing someone flying between Ft. Lauderdale (one of my favorite destinations) and where I used to live! Sitting on the right side of the plane I'm surprised you didn't see the Bay Bridge (Rt. 50) coming in, but it looked pretty cloudy on approach. I especially like the little narratives you give throughout the video. Safe travels to you.

I have a bit of an odd request, but I’m super curious on the Aer Lingus flight from New York-Stewart to Dublin, is there anyway you could get it sometime, like to JetBlue to JFK from PIT, then over to Stewart, up to DUB, and then DUB to KRK on any airline?😸

Somebody was VERY gracious in giving you a ride from BWI all the way back to Latrobe! What is the mileage between the 2 cities? You must've been exhausted by the time you arrived back at the Latrobe airport free parking lot,only to get back in your own car and proceed to an unknown location for home. Seeing that your Covid safely list has 12 openings and 3 are filled,what can we expect in the future?

Spirit is actually adding WiFi to their fleet as well as beginning to install new seats with “normal” tray tables and more useable personal space. They are actually listening to their customers.

I enjoy your videos, but one thing I'm curious about is how are you able to tell where the other planes came from & where they're going to in the airports? I think that it's cool that you know that but I'm wondering how.
When editing, I go back to the day I filmed and look up the tail numbers of passing aircraft
I work for Spirit, WiFi is on hold due to the COVID pandemic. New interiors with bigger tray tables are in our newer planes. Again, new interiors in our older planes are on hold for the time being

That would be the only way I would leave sunny Florida for Baltimore would be a pandemic! Does Spirit cancel flights like this very often? That would be very frustrating to say the least, if you had to be back to go to work after a vacation! But I do like your videos and I have a place in Myrtle Beach, but it's hard to find cheap direct flights down there anymore! They want to send you up north then back down to Myrtle Beach! Very crazy!

Boy when he made that left turn onto the runway he didn't even slow down. It was an immediate here we go! In all your travels have you had any bad experiences with turbulence or weather or mechanical trouble on the plane and if so do you have any videos on it? Even with all the changes with this flight you never seem to get rattled. Noticed he raised his spoilers a bit. Must have been flying a little too fast.

My experience with Spirit was not well. 10hr delayed due to maintenance and then my luggage got lost. Smh never went back.

1. Just relax, the airplane is rountinely checked prior every flight maintenance wise, if there is the slightest indication of a problem, it's not gonna fly
2. The pilots are very well trained and prepared for any situation should one arise
3. Listen to the safety instructions given by the flight attendants
4. Listen to music/sleep during cruising altitude

Fort Lauderdale’s airport looks too generic now. I’ve never understood why everything is black and white now. Also, sometime I and others would probably love to see an actual full flight. An unedited video showing everything. That would be nice if you’re able to do that.

Nice trip report. Fort Lauderdale's Hollywood Airport is Spirit Airlines' Main Hub. Spirit Airlines should order twin-aisle planes to maintain social distancing and block off the middle/aisle-side seats in the main cabin and the aisle-side seats in premium main cabin/first class cabin so they can at least look like business class cabins all around the entire plane.

Spirit is not the safest when I fly with them the plane was 100% full
in March the dorms at my university remained open until April on main campus when they announced the dorm rooms will be used as a place for quarantine and people staying were relocated to south campus at university of nebraska omaha and the university was shut down until june and people who payed their rent in apartments stayed because of that
