Full Flight: American Airlines B777-200 Dallas to Miami (DFW-MIA)

- Hey guys! I've uploaded many delayed flights on the channel and even a few cancelled flights by now, but I never had to deplane right after boarding and wait for another aircraft. That changed with this video. Unfortunately, there was a problem with our American Airlines B777-200 we just boarded for Miami and so we had to head back inside the terminal and wait till the issue was resolved. What ensued was a total mess on American's part of switching our planes and gates twice...also switching the original delay time of 1 hr 30 min to 4 hrs, without any compensation, snacks/drinks, or food vouchers. Very disappointed in AA's response to a maintenance delay which was nothing but their fault. The flight itself I thought was fine once we got in the air. I was lucky enough to have a whole row to myself on a very full plane which helped a lot. The crew was also quite nice which is saying a lot because of AA's FA reputations. American's 777-200, while old, did have plenty to do onboard with their stacked free entertainment collection and in-seat power outlets & USB ports at every seat. For a domestic flight during a pandemic, it's nice to have a roomier cabin (even if AA doesn't block seats) and the product onboard is slightly better than usual on other American domestic jets. However, if there were two people next to me on an international flight, I know I'd have a much different opinion. But whatever pros I've just said about this flight are completely overshadowed by the DFW experience and the 3 1/2 hr late arrival into Miami. Definitely American needs to step it up and start caring about their passengers again, not all about money. *Not doing anything for your customers when delaying their flight because of a problem that's all your fault isn't going to make them want to come back.* One of the worst experiences I've had on a flight in recent memory...but hopefully it made for some entertaining content :D Hope y'all enjoy!

When I read you'd be reporting a DFW-MIA flight flying on a 777 I thought to myself that it was too much to fly a 777 in that route during the pandemic. I had the impression that they delayed your flight in order to wait to occupy the empty seats... Nice video kiddo! Very well edited and great views of the city of Dallas! Thanks for sharing.
Always love your videos! I really like how you point out cities below when you can. Thanks!
Thank you so much for making these videos. For those of us who have aspirations to travel but are not afforded the opportunity, this is a good drug.
We flew AA from MIA to CLE in early May. Our gate changed 5 times that evening! Our fitbit tracked 4.8 miles in the airport! Thanks for sharing!
It's July 15th, 2023 and my cousin and his wife are flying from Dallas to Miami and then renting a car and driving to the Florida Keys. They took off at 7:10am this morning. Awesome video!
Yet another great review!!! I'm really glad i subscribed. I'll be taking the same flight in Nov in premium economy. I too have not flown on AA's 777. So, this will be a new experience for me.
Great video. About sums up my experience with them at DFW as well. Would love to see more updates on the studio room!
Love your channel, feels like I’m right there on the plane/in the airport terminal, etc. Learn a lot about airports across the states at the same time. I try to watch one flight per day before going to work! Yeah, wouldn’t mind seeing some progress updates on your spare room there. Thanks.
Terrific catches! I don't like it when flights that I take or anyone else takes to get delayed or canceled. Terrific flight you had to Miami! Updates are an excellent video idea!
keep up the good work man! I really like your Vids! Its a shame you've had a bad experience with AA. I have always had good flights with them.
I had a lot of delays with JetBlue
Yea people just get Super unlucky with aa.
Thanks for the video. It's very interesting.
This is really cool, Keep up the good work man! :)
amazing videos man
Amazing video. TJG13 Never Disappoints!
Beautiful view of Dallas downtown, similar to the one I saw when traveling to London.
Really enjoyed the views of downtown Dallas and seeing the roof of the building that I live in.
Its clear why that aircraft was in the hangar
Look at the thing flapping up and down on the wing when u land...
I cant tell for sure but it looks like a flap trying to find setting and just not working
Wonderful video man!
Awesome video as always Mr. Jazz, I usually advocate for AA whenever I can as they are my favorite U.S carrier, but here, what happened was just unacceptable and a disgrace! I will say getting a wide body was awesome though! I can’t wait to see what’s next for you!😸😻😸
American Airlines is something else. I try to avoid them as much as possible. You all are troopers! Excellent video!
What’s your favorite airline in
@@psychic609 Southwest Airlines
I flew from DFW to MIA last September whilst on tour in USA. Initially was supposed to fly from Las Vegas to Miami non stop but there was a chance of plans a month earlier. Was told had to change in Dallas was happy but, when I heard that it was going to be a B777 I was happy as I'd never been on any variants of 777s. So in the end it was absolutely worthwhile as I finally got the opportunity to go on 1
Happened to me with AA as well, on their 787. But it was a re-board on the same plane when they figured out the mech issue. Gotta love 'em.

Okay good but flight delay is not even a right thing!!!
Bro do you want to fly on a broken aircraft? They need to fix the aircraft so everyone can fly safely.
And besides it’s not even the companies fault things age and break down.
Great video as usual! Not great from American re: the delays, I can understand why people started getting angry. It's a shame because their on-board product is pretty good. I flew LHR-LAX a few years ago on their B777, and really enjoyed it! Word here is they're replacing their old 757 service here with a 787 between PHL and EDI, but I'll believe it when I see it!
Great video!
very nice, although I imagine how tedious the delay was, greetings from New York 🗽
I had a similar experience with American with a San Diego to Chicago flight, The incoming plane had a issue that needed to be fixed. The flight was to leave at 1:00 pm. They kept telling us it would have be fixed in a couple of hours. At 6 pm, they cancelled the flight-like you, no compensation. And they put us on the Red Eye at 10:30 meaning all connections didn't happen till the next day. No talk of motel room upon arrival in Chicago Not my first bad experience with AA, . Enjoy your videos!
Sorry about those delays. However you are right is rare and a good time to catch those wide bodies domestically right now. I have DFW to ORD on the 787-8 scheduled
Back in 1989 in Chicago on American, we landed at gate 16B around 12:30 our connecting flight was C12, we got onboard and then there was a maintenance problem so mom and I got off the plane and walked the terminal. When we got back to the gate another passenger told us they switched planes to gate C2 with no announcement on the airport PA, she had my carry on and one of my mother's. My mom had to go get the other one. So when we were supposed to take off around 2ish, we didn't take off until 4:30.
Awesome videos! It would be cool to have International flight reports!
Greetings from Bogota, Colombia 🇨🇴
Another excellent video! That wasn't free food, you paid for that with your time. I consider my time a most precious commodity! I won't fly on american, had a similar situation in chicago which left me stranded for 13 hours. Love the views, your talented with filming for sure. The cryometer was a great add to the video! Safe travels my friend!
Nice video! Give the airlines a break! Lot of people going through tough and rough times, especially the employees!
They were standard for hours! Sorry the airline gets no break
Flew AA in August, 737, from Philly to Atlanta. All 100 plus seats were filled , no empty seats at all.. Same with return trip
I am so sorry you had to go the delay you did. It sounds crazy. Anyways, this video fascinated me beyond measure. You are an amazing individual who always makes me feel happy. I also like how articulately and elegantly you speak. *Out of curiosity, do you prefer MIA or FLL?*
Definitely Fort Lauderdale! However plane spotting is better at MIA
@@thejazzguy13 Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I strongly enjoy hearing them.
Another great video! That was crappy before the flight. How many Florida airports have you been to?
At least they let you deboard. I once sat at the ramp in the plane for nearly 3hrs before departure. Which was longer than the flight itself
2:30 - I had a friend who went on his honeymoon in San Jose Del Cabo, stayed at the Hyatt Ziva, they loved it
Terminal D at Dallas now has a great Flagship lounge. I like DFW. I did get a similar delay (DFW to LAX) last August, was about 3 hours I think with a few gate changes. They did bring along trolleys with lots of snacks and water - fruit, chips, pretzels, granola bars....I was quite impressed at the time. Service recovery shouldn't be hard because a little goes a long way - serving everyone a glass of wine or loading some extra snacks to hand out costs them very little. Pathetic that they don't do it.
Love the smell of free food. I bought some Biscoff ice cream to join in. It was really nice. Bang goes the diet though.
I'll also be taking a ride on AA's 787-8 next month from MIA-PHL. Take the opportunity to fly these wide bodies in the states if you can.
Wow, I never realized you got a maintenance flight delay. This happens to most of the airlines. Now look at American Airlines. This is messed up😮💨😮💨
I remember going to New York, and I was pretty happy, because it was the more modern A321S American Airlines seats, but then the flight got switched to a former U.S. airways A321, which has an older, shabbier cabin to say the least.
Hey thejazzguy I get to fly on a big plane like that too in January when I fly to Chicago this time I’m flying American Airlines just for this one time considering I doubt I’ll get another good deal from them next time after this upcoming trip I’m back to using Southwest Airlines again to Chicago Midway but for this one trip I get to fly on an American Airlines Boeing 787-800 dreamliner from Philadelphia to Chicago O’hare this will be my first time flying on a plane bigger than a 737 and it’s my first time flying into Chicago O’hare it will be an exciting trip.
Pause the vid at 18:14 and look just above the 'w' in the word view. Yes, that is the infamous Dealey Plaza.
I remember I was suppose to leave on a Friday on UA 767 from Honolulu to Newark but I left the next morning bc the plane hade issues with the screens
I enjoy watching your videos, must ask where are you originally from or live in the United States, do you ever relax before you travel again ? :)
Snack bags are like special surprise goody bags
Whenever I go to Miami or Fort Lauderdale I always feel so good when I get off the plane!
Same i think it’s because I’m from a cold place lol
Yea but flying back from those warm places will make you sick
I went to MIA in July 13 2020 for my birthday it was very fun
That"s very sad to hear that your flight American Airlines has been delayed but anyway was that the same flight or different after a delay you got back on since after 4 hours???
In June of last yr I flew from Midland Tx to DFW to Madison Wisc and back on American Eagle,on the way back coming from DFW to Midland Tx we waited like 5 hrs to get back home. The plane the used form Midland to DFW had issues. the cancled flughts on that pklane like 3 times..inc out orig flght, and almost the lst flight to Midland form DFW....was suosed to be home bout 7ish. didnt get back to Midland till 11 pm, I get planes has issues, but i agree AA needs to do better on working on planes
southwest airlines knows how to handle maintenance delays i witnessed one in chicago midway passengers were getting ready to board to atlanta and the gate agent said there was a mechanical problem and that a new plane from the hangar had to be brought in and the gate would be right next to the original one and arrived in atlanta an hour late i know because i tracked that flight even though i wasnt on that plane i was in the area waiting for my connecting flight to omaha and it was in the crammed B gate area at the end
seems to be people knew ahead of time about the mechanical problem or maybe more people got on during the delayed flight which made the plane more full, maybe people were going to miss their connecting flight but made it due to the long delay
This video was truly AMAZING to watch.. (Was watching while in online class lol)... Sorry you had to go through all of those delays man. This inspired me to start doing aviation vids like these but I get easily nervous and scared if someone should notice me filming lol
Nice
Skyscrapers look so small from that angle. Legoland. I flew back from the US on AA. No pilot for the plane. They had to get one out of bed who wasnt even due to fly. He just wanted to get us all home. His pilot friend was waiting for him to fly in. Said he was his friend. They had been military men together. I was in no rush.
Being one of the biggest airlines in the world, AA needs to step up their game with delays! I'll be doing this same route on the same aircraft in November...hopefully with better luck haha.
Tell me about it man! And good luck :D
Try coming back after 9-11 it took me 14 hours from RDU to LAX with 2 hours of circling over DFW, 4 hours is nothing and that was with Delta, waiting nearly 3 hours at RDU because the plane as you got pulled back and we had to wait for another plane
I travel from Dallas to Mia on Wednesday with them and the flight was completely full not one seat was available.
8:22 very Cool b787 edit there
Im flying AA 1591 on August 5, its on a 777-0200ER, hopefully no delays
So the seating are they doing every other seat aisle closed due to covid19. I seen news report that the airline was the number 1 way most ppl contracted covid19. Are they or did you see any sanitizing in airports or in planes each time they land
American does not block any seats unfortunately...Delta, Alaska, Southwest, and JetBlue do in the US. And yea lots of cleaning going on everywhere
Im guessing that plane was doing DFW to Miami then gonna do a longer flight, probably doing DFW to Miami for a stop over then doing a longer flight
Hey Mr. Jazz
So sorry about your delay with american but I had the same last year but I will tell you my story about my flight with them.
I left from the same gate in DFW, and sat in the same seats as you at gate D25
Most of the delay was probably getting the reserve pilots and flight crew, and by the time the pilots get to the airport, go through security, and make the flight plan (depending on how far the reserve pilot lives from the airport) can be a couple hours. But AA should’ve been more clear about what happened and at least provided snacks or a food voucher.
The delayed happened to you can happens on other airlines too. It’s happened to me before MIA- SEA delayed and changed Gates by 2 and 1/2 hours arrived Seattle instead at noon ( Seattle) I arrived before 3:00 pm jazzzguy 13
wow that is just so unreally how could they do that wow just wow
Yasssssssss!!!
This was beyond unacceptable. American is by far the worst of the major US carriers. It's basically the old America West with widebodies. A shell of its former self. I last flew them in December and vowed to never fly them again. Their corporate culture is basically "give us your money, you don't have a choice". Doug Parker himself has come out and said this, in so many words. They simply don't care and make no effort to even pretend that they do. Anyway, great clip, as always!
I beg to differ. There is worse. Spirit, United, Alegiant
finally the 777
6:00 Yes I know this. Ngl what happened to u was kind of like what happened to another RUclipsr who got overnighted out of MIA. Also this happened to me as well. It was like this a little. But ours departed about 25 hours later..They overnighted us out of DFW but at least payed for hotels. They didn’t give us any snacks or anything either!
I’m sorry your flight had such bad delays and that AA didn’t handle it correctly
Imagine this situation on a ULCC you'd wait the next day of so. AA has tons of aircraft on their fleet if one fails you'll get the next one within hours. Better late than dead.
Real crummy that American has gone downhill so much....thanks for the beautiful “sky views” though!
i hate when a flight is like that...it happend to me on AA last november headed back to PNS from SEA....got to DFW...after a long haul...finally get to the gate....then at the last minute...we had to relocate to a different terminal....and gate...😖😖😖
Every time I have been to ORD AA changes the gate for my flight sometimes to a different terminal
If it was in a hanger it probably was getting some sort workup. Probably had to pass a flight-ready status.
I love Dallas ft worth Texas and it’s hub for American Airlines God blessings to them all unconditionally thanks.
After watching your vlog AA will never get my business unless they are the only carrier that can take me to where I need to go. The way they handled the delay and basically no inflight beverage/food service(to heck with Covid) was the most pathetic excuse for a US airline. AA is attempting to cut costs but are losing passengers as a result when it doesn't have to be like that. I don't know who is running AA now but a change is needed!!!! Thanks for the headsup!!!!
7:46 have you flown with them before?
I have! Got a few vids shot on them that'll come down the road :)
AA did alter their process after this video was taken. I think in july. It was different when my dad flew. They also blocked the middle seat in economy of what I know.
I also flew them again in July and August and didn't notice anything different...same boarding process & full planes
@@thejazzguy13 Hmm...Thats weird. It was different on the 737s and E175s.
19:54 - looks like you're flying over somewhere between Dallas and Tyler, Tx
This is why I don’t want to go to American because I don’t want to take a risk of getting delayed or cancelled. That never happened to me because last time I went to American was last year in September. I will going to Delta this time in the Summer of 2021.
I have a question. I’m gonna go to Florida in December so I was looking at their app and it said “confirm if you’re free from COVID-19.” Does that mean that I have to go to a check up to see if I’m good? I’m just curious with that part. I truly need help from someone who has recently has gone to the airport.
I'm going to florida on October
Nope! Just have to check the boxes that you haven't had covid in the last 2 weeks and you're good, no need to get a test (unless you're going to Alaska or Hawaii)
thejazzguy13 Aviation thank you very much!
Such a big plane for a short haul route.
Got any videos flying into Dallas love
What sucks is when people complain about a MAINTENANCE delay would you be happy waiting for a couple hours OR POSSIBLY CRASHING IN THE GROUND!!!!!! Man up and quit your WHINING!!!!
I live in Oklahoma city and sometimes drive to Dallas because they have cheaper flights. My return flight was supposed to land at 1:18pm but got delayed so much it landed at 7pm I didn't have enough time to drive back! so I had to stay in a hotel which I will tell you was very expensive. Americans service is so much worse than even Spirit.
Why do they have to deplane the plane?
That’s why I fly United or Delta , and occasionally Southwest
Dallas / Mia always in delays, my route every 2 months
That's qutie a generous rating you gave AA; I would have given it 0/10. I had a similar situation to this when my family and I used to fly US Airways.
What a nightmare to you
And all the pssengers. American is getting wore everytime. I think 5/10 was too much! However a real good job on the video!
What was in that bag they gave you as you boarded the plane?
your "meal"
That’s a short flight for a triple 7. I figured they would’ve put you on a 737-800
Pittsburgh PA to Dallas TX
Dallas TX to Miami FL
AA the Saturday June 13TH 2020 the good!
I'm going on an American Airlines flight from Pittsburgh to Dallas/Fort Worth on Friday and Dalls/Fort Worth to Fort Myers, I hope this doesnt happen.
it rain☔️🌧 a lot so bad in Florida 🙂😎 and it hot 🥵 there
I took dfw-mia on a 777 january 2019.
You should do a flight review on Sun Country
I do have some filmed on them, will be coming down the road
I wouldn't be touching that changing table. Think about what was on that.
AA should have given out some sort of compensation
