Welcome to iTripReport's flight reviews, which I focus on reviewing both the soft product and hard product of airlines around the globe. I strive to give you guys a first person perspective of different aspects of the flight. Including the ground service, onboard service, and those views that come with the flight. I will say as one of the FAs working the outbound back to FLL that day, we were also very bummed to see the company not recognize this aircraft. Not even a single balloon at the gate in ORD. This gives us so much more ability to expand our route network and seat capacity. Also, so many more features for guests and the working cabin crew as well(air vents above our jumpseats is a big plus). It might just be because I’m an avgeek, but I did make a speech on flight #2 that day because, unlike our company, we believe it is a big deal. Thanks again for flying us Emil! We know you are in SoFlo a lot, hope to see you again on another flight:)

@@jameslucero9547 My flight from MCO-LGA was diverted to PHL and also before take off they had to restart the plane 😬Yes this was on Spirit.. No disrespect tho Ill prob fly with them again soon I just hope that doesnt happen again..

Wow. So sad that Spirit didn't even commemorate this special occasion to introduce their new flagship into service. Pretty sad for an airline but then again, this IS Spirit airlines after all.☹️🤦

Nice to see someone give some kudos to Spirit even though I admit I’m retired from a US competitor. I’ve only flown them a few times but the onboard menu had a lot of choices and you could even get 3 drinks at once as a special deal which is not possible on my carrier. And I always had nice crews, but I admit 3 flights is not enough to get a full judgement on that. So I enjoy Spirit too! And I’ll be sorry if their merger with JetBlue goes through and we loose those yellow planes and the pop of yellow in the cabin too. And I even love their uniforms. You can spot a Spirit cabin crew from a mile away because of the yellow accents on their uniforms, whereas most other US carrier’s crew members are unidentifiable until they are close up. I just love that!

I flew Spirit once, after the Flight Attendant harassed people with a rubber chicken (including myself), and after witnessing a passenger give random back scratches to another passenger they had just met, I’ve yet to take another Spirit flight since 😂

Great trip report as always, shame about the lack of celebration but if you look at it from a different light Spirit already has neos and A321s in their fleet, so this addition isn't really too radical in the sense of fleet diversity. Regardless it looks like an improvement over its predecessors!
Out of the big 3 ULCC's in the United States, I like Allegiant Travel Company the best, even though they claim their not an airline. I still love their livery, their service and their destination choices. But I also like the new Spirit experience, new tray tables, low cost of WiFi on board most of their newer planes, and the fact that they fly to the Caribbean, Central and South America. Great video man.
I only flew spirit once from Boston to Fort Lauderdale. Honestly, it was very comfy. I’m tall but thin so the seat was okay. Flight was half empty and I just got the whole row to myself.😅
You can hear the snoring two rows back but not the engines, those Neos are quiet. Thanks for taking us along. I would agree with you, they are my go to ULCC.
I haven't been in the Spirit tight sardine cans in a while. Nice to see they're getting new frames, at least!

So I flew a spirit a321 neo from mco to acy. great flight won a bag of peanut m&ms in a trivia contest. I’ve been on an American a321 neo a couple of times they are nice with mood lighting and a free can of soda and some biscuits. The power ports are nice. As for the people on board 95% are super cool. I remember talking to a friend of mine who is very wealthy, they fly spirit too.
Great video, thanks for sharing! Excited you got to ride a Neo, shame people probably didn't know it was a new plane and Spirit didn't recognize it or at least mention it. I appreciate the Aviation geeks though, there are many of us. Only if people were wow'ed by planes as named ships of old, I know I am. Only if the planes had names, maybe that'd help! ha

I flew on Spirit to Vegas back in February and was impressed. It was my first time. I’ll fly with them again.
I heard spirit have a lot of poor ratings
I flew with this particular plane from Nashville to LAX for $78 round trip. Not just the incredible airfare, I did enjoyed being in the A321 neo!
Why Chicago O’Scare fam ? Lol I work across the street from O’Hare on the southern part of the airport and enjoy seeing the planes everyday. I find it so cool that when I fly out (mainly to Miami) I get to see my job when we take off from runway 22L

It doesn’t surprise me they jam in more seats, but interesting that they also get a newer aircraft that has the ability to make it to further destinations
I’ve been on spirit many times. The new interior looks better with a slightly larger tray table and fixed headrest but I doubt it will be more comfortable than the old one. Spirit should add power outlets or even usb ports.
Definitely need USB ports for every seat . It’s 2023 for crying out !

My best friend flew on spirit with these new HAECO vector light seats and he found them a so much comfier than the Frontier ACRO series 3 seats.
Adding power outlets/usb ports to seats not only costs a fortune, but it also adds a lot to weight of the aircraft. If spirit were to add this, the fares would go up significantly. Get a portable charger. Or just take a nap. It’s not that serious.

Great video about the new plane! Bummer they didn’t add underseat chargers and Wi-Fi didn’t work. I hope the most of their flights now do have the Wi-Fi working .
Wifi is added by a secondary supplier after the aircraft is delivered-hence the delay on new craft. It’s available (or will be) on all A320 series planes. There’s also a few 319s that have it, but it will not be installed on the remaining ones as spirit plans to sell them.

PeoplExpress would be the pioneer of ULCC type airline service. When PE started in 1981, they were charging for the extras. NK changed to the ULCC format after they hired CEO Ben Baldanza in 2005.
Thanks for your review....I must admit my only exposure to LCC is through those RUclipsrs who fly them. I am afraid my travel days were on full service airlines and though I had the opportunity to test out the LCC, it did not interest me! Take care.

I've noticed that US airlines don't tent to do big events for additions of new variants of existing types. AA didn't have any fanfare to introduce the MAX 8 or the 77W. I don't recall any when DL introdced the 321 CEO/NEO or the 739.
They did some stuff for the a321 and neo. They also celebrated the retirement of the crj200, it wasn't much, but they decorated the gate area and such
Wonder where else they will send the neo, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Sao Paulo and Rio are too far I believe but they can go to Antofagasta, Santa Cruz or maybe Asuncion which is one of the only countries in south america not connected to the US with nonstop flights
did you check in a bag on spirit airlines. Were they strict with the weight and the personal item size? How much did it cost for the first peice. How was the experience? How much did they charge

So I’m getting ready to fly with spirit and I figured I would watch this video just because I have heard about all of the negative reviews on Spirit but ig I’ll have to see for myself
Is it just me? Or are the latest so-called "Trimline" seats - I refer to them as "Thinline" seats - are getting so thin, soon you'll be resting your back on the wire mesh, they'll just get rid of the sparse padding altogether.
Or... maybe they'll just get rid of the seat backs altogether, just a bench like the local ball park, lol.

Love your trip reports although I’m still not gonna fly Spirit.
I don't get why aviation geeks care about narrow vs widebody for long flights. Majority of people barely know the difference and just sleep once they hop on. Seat width, seat pitch, IFE, snack/drink/meal service, cost, punctuality, etc are far more important than the look of the cabin ceiling.
Spirit looks somewhat survivable now

At Spirit, you have to insert your credit card in order to use the lavatory. They also charge for oxygen during the flight to keep you alive for arrival.😅😅

Spirit wifi is by far not the cheapest in the US; domestic flights frequently run $10 or more dollars, which is more than Alaska, United, and Southwest, and similar in pricing to some Delta planes that don't have the free wifi yet (though still much cheaper than AA). Perhaps the last time you used Spirit wifi was during their promotional period when everything was sub $5? Because that ended a while ago.

Why did spirit not choose the Leap 1A engine for their NEO's?
Because their existing fleet doesn't use CFM engines, same reason on why they didn't choose the 737 MAX

Were the Captain's announcement and the safety announcement going on simultaneously? Weird.
Based on what I've seen so far, I would say Breeze has a better product if considered a ULCC, otherwise this A321neo is not bad.
Having said that, I won't fly them to Colombia, let alone Brazil! 😂

I find it interesting that they didn’t choose to install the XL bins since they have so many seats, and would have been more esthetic.
I’m still very confused too… maybe they expect more people to check bags?
Carryons are so expensive on Spirit that the majority of customers don't pay for them (it's cheaper to check a bag), so I imagine they just don't need the larger bins.
@@ITripReport The Airspace XL bins are very new, a lot newer than the Boeing Space bins. That said, confusing would be if a MAX customer chose to not have their MAXes installed with Space Bins (cough cough Southwest)
On a side note, I did have space bins on a recent Easyjet flight!

no fan fare but I think its justified. Im not too sure what there is to commemorate at an all airbus airline whos not the launch customer of.....another airbus 321 to their fleet. It didnt look any different compared to their A320neo inside. Only aviation nerds/fans would care about the Suttle differences like the removal of door 2. That said it looked like alot of employees in ORD on the ground cared to see it arrive. On the other hand I guess we can assume there will be no fan fare for the A319neo too which is a shame as Spirit will be the only US carrier to have them. thanks for sharing

You are a braver man than I, Gunga Din. For me, flying ULCC would be a total ripoff. I'd be willing to bet I'd get charged for my medical device. It's not exactly like I can leave it at home! I have some serious medical equipment to take with, so I also need room, and preferably no seatmate. For that, I'll be flying the legacy carriers (read: Delta) for the foreseeable future.
Having said that, I agree it's a real pity they didn't have a party, or at least turn the hoses on for that 321 flight. What a bummer!

I’ve flown Spirit once, they changed flight times twice, because of the flight time change, lost half a day. Will not fly them again. I choose flight times for a reason.

I'm sure there are many who would fly spirit airlines to Brazil as long as they feel they're saving money, Many customers think they are saving money on ULCC's until they realize how much extra money they spend on every thing else

I would never complain about the lack of a folding pocket of yuck on the seat back. I’d much rather not have a place for anyone to hide their unwanted items.
Good luck if you have anybody that speaks English. Helping you on the ground plenty of empty machines. Nobody understands how they work and there's nobody to help you. Especially in Orlando, more than one flight is always delayed. Because there's not enough people to book your Inn. They certainly do not understand how to help people with disabilities

I have heard so many bad things about Spirit. 1. The seats are so cramped with little to no legroom. 2. Nothing is included. I can't even bring an unchecked bag onboard without paying something for it. 3. Network availability. Some routes of they only fly every other day or one flight goes directly. Say there's bad weather or other things happen outside of your control. You're screwed. I am more worried about flying and not getting to where I need to be on time. And I'm not sure if they have enough planes to reconnect me in a reasonable amount of time. And I feel like I'm going to be penny pinched for everything. I'd rather pay a flat rate even if it costs a couple hundred more so that everything is included. For instance on southwest, I have no worries about checked bags. I have no worries about a flight delay as they have a wide network. There is enough leg room where I'm not cramped. And I have no worries about snack or soda costing me money except I wish they had a wider range of snack options and reserve seating. But being able to bring your bag onboard or checking it with no additional cost. It is awesome.
Spirit has nothing to celebrate. Squeezing 235 people into a brand new A321neo does not deserve any "fan fare"

The only thing I hate about spirit are the crying babies and trashy low-class customers imo but I like everything else
You pay for what you get. I will never fly with them again Clear the device saving money. They never have enough train stuff as Crown stuff at the airport, especially in Orlando. And they definitely not trained to help people that is disabled. Quite frankly, they are arrogant and most of them speak spanish or some other languagexcept english, My experience on board was also very blow. There's nothing exciting by the small squashed up seat and very still air to fly in with
