  • Hey guys! Welcome to another full flight video, this time aboard a British Airways A380 from Washington's Dulles International Airport to London's Heathrow Airport! This was my first time on the A380 and on British Airways so this was a truly exciting flight for me...and I really enjoyed it! The crew was by far the best part of the experience and I have to give a huge thanks and shoutout to Gary (one of my FAs) who was super nice to give me a tour of the entire plane mid-flight! Also a big thanks to the generous pilots who let me film around the cockpit a little! BA isn't known out there to have one of the best hard products...and you can definitely tell, but the service and the sort of British charm makes up for it a little. The A380 is also super quiet and very enjoyable to fly in/try to get some sleep. If you watch my review at the end, I give the flight a pretty high score (which it sort of deserves), but only because of the awesome FAs onboard. As far as the airports, Dulles is OK. Luckily, I flew out of the international terminal which is the best part of IAD, but I still sometimes dread flying internationally as the customs line can get horrendously long at Dulles. Heathrow is absolutely massive (maybe a little too massive) and so there is a ton of walking/waiting in lines as well. More of LHR in my next video. Hope you guys enjoy!

@@hillarynickle6861 I traveled AF all through quarantine to DBX which stayed open. Now I'm goig to fly BA A380 for the first time. I love the EK A380; I am curious about BA's A380, which I'll fly in a couple months from now. The A380 is quieter and smoother than the B777, B787, or A350.

Well speaking as a Brit, I’m so pleased that Gary went above and beyond showing you round the aircraft, unlike your first encounter with the FA. It’s all too easy to say no when someone is interested in a company or their product and hardly does the business any favours. I think that’s the most in-depth tour I’ve seen of the A380 - so thanks!

That terminal was designed by the same guy who did the TWA Terminal at JFK: Finnish architect Eero Saarinen. The mobile lounges are now used for taking pax from the arrival gate to the Main Terminal for Immigration, Baggage Claim, and Customs. Suggestion: If you want to avoid a long queue at Immigration, consider signing up for Global Entry. That's what I did a few years ago, and I've never regretted my decision.

Absolutely love it my guy! Got a story for you as well: Flew on Qantas to Melbourne, Australia back in December 2018 for a buddy’s wedding. I had no idea how big the A380 was until it pulled into the terminal and my jaw dropped t the sight of it. I was absolutely amazed at how many people it could carry aboard and it took me a while to find my seat, which was at the tail of the plane. Honestly, I hate heights and flying(thanks to the first Final Destination, which was also a movie of choice on my flight!). I felt everything! Tail and the elevators moving and it took off like it was nothing. Fucker got up into the air in a snap of a finger. The engines were so quiet, I didn’t even know we were flying! I was really Anxious while it was taking off, but once it leveled off, we were close to our cruising speed(felt like it anyway). The staff on the flight was amazing, the variety of movies to watch made the time go by fast......downside, a child a few rows ahead of me wouldn’t shut up THE ENTIRE TIME and it was a 15 and half hour flight, so sleeping was rather difficult and these half assed ear plugs didn’t do a damn thing 🙃🙃🙃 but any who, these behemoths are a sight and are really cool to be on. Jealous you got to go to England, definitely want to do that!

Thanks for a great video for it brings back great memories! When I was 7, ('70) my mom, sister and I flew out of there to Germany and I gave my mom fits as I tried to climb those slopping concrete towers! I remember taking off just as the sun was setting and boy it was a beautiful site! Then years later, I worked at that airport catering the planes for Marriott and got to see the "new" 777 cockpit which was amazing! I also got to meet some of the LA Rams flying back home after a Redskins game and got 4 autographs from some of the players, dang they were tall! Lol! I loved working there cause I got my plane fix six days a week and as for what I like to call the "people movers", I loved being in them because that was an adventure all in itself and though people complain about them, I'd rather use that then the areo train. So, again, thanks for the great trip down my memory lane! ❤❤🙂👍

It took me some time but I ended up liking how the A380 looks. Then I loved it even more after taking one (only time) a few years ago from Dulles to Paris on Air France. It was the smoothest flight I had ever been on. You feel like you are in a building. I was on a long trip as Paris wasn't my final destination and the other planes including the way back were a320s and b777, but the a380 was such a great experience that I was disappointed by the others. Only regret is IAD to CDG isn't that long. I wish I had flown that on one of my longer work trips all the way to asia that were 14 hours for the first leg.

Now for some odd reason, Dulles is absolutely one of my favorite airports now. Something about it just grows on you and its much, MUCH less crowded than Hartsfield any given day. Quite a few people look at the "ring/yang" configuration of the Club World seats and think exactly the same.. But, you can't even notice the difference in direction of travel. People also forget that, whilst the design layout is old.. It was the first one which allowed for a fully flat bed in business class, and has been a successful and popular product in its various updated forms for many years. And, remains so.

Can't believe that there was one flight in or out about every 15 minutes and basically empty. It was built for the supersonic air traffic of the future. Except for the Concord, supersonic air traffic never took place.

Good for you. Get a great hotel near Piccadilly Circus or near the Thames, such as the Double Tree by Hilton. One of them is very close to a Tube station. Another one is several blocks from the Pimlico station (I stayed at that location in '14). A few good things about Double Trees (and no, I'm not shilling for them): chocolate chip cookies, great service, nice buffet breakfasts, equally nice hotel dinners, a nice bar, and iMacs in their rooms! :-)
If you would rather be close to the London Eye, then get a hotel room on the South Bank of the Thames, I might do that on my next trip to the UK. That way, I could do the Eye, the Imperial War Museum, the Florence Nightingale statue, and finally, visit the Borough Market and British Museum! But that museum is on the other side of the Thames, at Russell Square. Please think about watching a play at West End--a quintessential London experience as is visiting a pub. When I visited London in '14, I watched Phantom of the Opera at the Queen Theater (I think that's the name of it) on Haymarket Street, a block away from the Piccadilly Circle Tube Station exit, and had an Italian dinner at a place directly across the theater. Very convenient! Have fun planning your trip. :-)

I think I've done one of the holding stacks. One big problem for holding stacks is that if you've got a very tight connection to another flight, that holding pattern isn't going to be helpful when you land and you take those long bus rides between terminals. That's why when I book flights to LHR from IAD, I look for long layover times to ensure I have lots of time to make my connections, especially if they involve those aforementioned bus rides. IMHO, the only really good connections are the ones from Terminal 5A, where you have many shops, restaurants, bars, currency exchange booths, and restrooms. My fave restaurant at Terminal 5A is Wagamama's, on the second floor, after Security, and off to the right. Great, inexpensive, filling food. Plus, you've got a great view of the tarmac filled with planes waiting for pax.

The architectural structure was up to date those days. The building itself was designed by a finnish architect.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't flown since 1994. Hell I would be confused just trying to get to the right gate. Those World Traveler seats look interesting. There is no way I could fly sitting backwards though. It would trigger my vertigo. I'm curious as to the cost difference in the different classes of seats.

I flew on a A380 on purpose in 2019 LHR to LAX....the crew were great but had to make a lot of effort to overcome the various issues onboard. Entertainment systems not working in my area was particularly irritating. I paid for a window seat....but the crew could only offer me a seat dead centre of the aircraft with kids on either side....but a working IFE system. I had to pass. Food was good....and I'm REALLY picky! As for the LAX experience....horrendous but that's another story.
