Thank you for videos like this! I'm traveling over to DC in a few months for the first time and getting to see someone's perspective (although will be different from pre-covid) is really helpful to let me know what to expect!!
Why am I NOW seeing this? That holographic lady before you boarded the train to get to 5B and the "lol what the?" remark had me cracking up. The "baby" remark when taxiing onto 27R... I'm dying of laughter!!! This deserves a sub from me!
Having flown this route earlier this year, I recommend taking a day flight, as if you have a window seat, you can get some spectacular views of Atlantic Canada and the Eastern Seaboard of the USA on the way in! It was my first ever trip to America, as well as my first trip abroad on my own, so seeing the light layer of cumulus clouds part below to reveal Nova Scotia and Newfoundland near the midpoint of the flight was magical - near the end, just before the plane began to descend, I also got some really nice views of the Blue Ridge Mountains peering out over the horizon :)
I know this was 5 months back but looking at moments like 6:18 with the packed-tight line, it really puts into perspective on how much has changed in the last few months. Hope COVID-19 passes soon for the sake of the aviation industry
Hello TJG and TJMom! Great video as usual! I halfway expected to see the Gremlin come out in the window as you were coming into Dulles with its exploding eyeballs! (Twilight Zone The Movie) :D Anyway, great and informative video on BA from London! Sorry for the rudeness of the Security Agents in LHR. Thanks for your talent and as always, your trademark Intro/Outro Tunes, Ricky :)
Nice video! It’s amazing how empty concourses 5B and 5C are compared to 5A at Heathrow, since they’re only used for long haul flights but still have great shops, restaurants and lounges which are always way emptier. It’s a shame BA don’t do any drinks services between the first meal after take off and the pre-landing snack. American carriers tend to offer drinks throughout the whole flight from my experience. But you can always go to the galley and ask for drinks though. BA’s Dreamliner seems pretty nice. It was also bumpy when I flew into Dulles last November :)
Thanks mate! Yah I know haha, the other two are so much emptier! And I'd agree with that as well, for 8 hrs there should def be more than 3-4 drink services
Wow this flight hit close to my hometown. I am originally from Harrisburg, PA now I live in Orlando, FL. Orlando International Airport is my home airport. I know the feeling of having a bawl baby on board. Seems like every time I fly I always have a bawl baby seated near me. I just read and not take notice.
Fantastic trip report! I have been to IAD, and I didn't know what those mobile lounges are and what they are used for at that time. It is interesting to see you being on it. Btw, the dessert looked very tasty
thejazzguy13 Aviation Thanks man! Hope your vacation is going well out West. Nothing much new in the Burgh at the moment and same at PIT but still a few American planes still parked from when we had all their planes parked here awhile ago. Will have to send you the pics I have of you want. Be safe!!
Aircraft are very beautiful machines especially when they glisten at night with the moisture and lights. I have built aircraft parts for just about everything with wings in my 34 year career as a machinist both commercial and military. I have worked for Boeing Mcdonnel Douglas , TRW Aerospace , Lucas Aerospace and now Parker Hannifin Control Systems Division. Parts for everything from a Piper cub to the space shuttle and after all of this I have NEVER FLOWN. Just can't bring myself to do it. Your Dreamliner is one of the most complicated flight platforms flying today and all of it has to function flawlessly to stay in the air. But if you don't think about any of the tecnical stuff it must be a joy to fly. You seem to enjoy it. I don't think it will ever be the same after the virus stuff. I hope to see more aircraft flying and soon. Fly on with a vengence my friend fly on.............
I agree with you about the occasional rudeness of the security personnel. I recall one of them asking me what all of my meds and toiletries were in the ziplock bags. I mean, couldn't the officer tell that they were medications and toiletries? One good way to be on the officers' good side is to be good-natured, calm, and have a neutral expression on your face while they go through your carryons. Then thank them for doing their jobs. I wouldn't want that job if I were truly desperate. Thank goodness I'm retired, so I don't have to worry about employment in airports! I think I've seen the Gordon Ramsey place at 5A--isn't it across from Wagamama's? As for Starbucks, the only things I buy from them are the lemon pound cake and the Odawalla OJ. The only kind of coffee I drink is the iced kind primarily from Dunkin's. BTW, Dulles is named from John Foster Dulles, a bigwig in either the Eisenhower or Kennedy Admins, and he was the brother of Allen Welsh Dulles, a former high official of the CIA's predecessor agency, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during WW2. How do I know that? Because I read a lot of WEB Griffin novels about the OSS during wartime.
What I do to find the gate when not posted until boarding time...is to look at Google the day before I fly to see which gate yesterday's flight departed. Nearly all the time its the same gate.
I mentioned in another comment for another video that one way to bypass the long Immigration line is to buy a membership in Global Entry. That's what I did several years ago. Never regretted that decision. BTW, you head for Immigration first, then Baggage Claim, and Customs, not the order you mentioned in this video. Keep up the good work!
Flying WB to the US at night must be a challenge jetlag-wise--you land at IAD roughly around 830pm ET but your body is on London time so it feels like its the wee hours of the next morning.Your surroundings say the evening is still relatively early, time enough to party it up! Body says "Hell no! I'm going to bed!" Wish the UK would do preclearance for US citizens just as Canada does
just like when thejazzguy13 aviation was in london security officer chasing thejazzguy across the terminal about filming even after security now this spilling liquids and not letting anyone through hmm maybe ill consider connecting through airports like paris in the future after the coronavirus pandemic is don
Now DON'T QUOTE ME ON THIS, but I've heard that LHR doesn't list gate #'s until the last min on purpose b/c they want travelers to spend more time (& money 💰) in the duty free areas so that they can maximize the chance of a passenger spending money there, a practice I'm not exactly thrilled about. As far as the rude security agents, you'd think working security at a major int.l hub like LHR is one of those jobs u should at least PRETEND that u don't hate, ha. Enjoyed the vid as always. 😉👍👍✌
I have heard a similar rumor. While I am sure that Heathrow is designed to maximize duty free sales, I'm not sure if that is what caused the gate announcements to be delayed. In ORD, gates are announced as early as the night before departure, but are quite likely to change (particularly for smaller planes). Since Heathrow has so many widebodies, having lots of gate swaps would be a nightmare. Making 300 people (likely foreigners) aware that the gate has changed is not easy. As such, they wait until the plane is actually in the gate before announcing it to the passengers.
Yes that is the reason they show the gates so late. Heathrow and most other airports in the UK are privately owned and are run as profit-making businesses. Unlike all airports in the US which are government-run and make a loss because they’re not bothered about making money, they’re more concerned with the airports helping the local economies. That’s why gates are displayed far in advance there
Took the same flight same model (B787) the opposite direction in January. Absolutely hated it. Super narrow seat (first row in coach) I am a thin guy (5 feet 10 inches; 150 pounds) and it was the most uncomfortable seat I ever sat on an airplane. Just terrible.
I'm convinced that there is an FAA regulation that states that no aircraft can take off from or head to the US without a screaming infant on board! Usually in ALL classes!
Thank you for videos like this! I'm traveling over to DC in a few months for the first time and getting to see someone's perspective (although will be different from pre-covid) is really helpful to let me know what to expect!!
Oh what a beautiful..very detailed informations...comments...make this video so colourful...

You and I are on the same page when it comes to loving the sound of the jet engines, :)

Enjoyed the video. A peaceful Flight
Airlines and travelling will never be the same. But I wish we recover from this
Nothing will ever be the same ever again. Not even in 20 years.
It will never be the same since 9/11 and since the trijets were gone.

Nicely presented report. The catering looked surprisingly good considering the flight length. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
This was awesome!!! Great job!
Thanks a lot!
I must say I love the the song at the very end of the vid! (the outro)
I watched this cos it’s so calm and peaceful
I watched this cuz I've never been to the LHR nor IAD 😕👍🏽
@@PGreat7 me neither

Liked the full flight man.
Great video bro👍👍
Great vid man! Sorry to hear you had another crying baby🤦. Did it last almost the entire flight! Hope your staying healthy.👍

You get 95% crying babies I get 100% of crying babies and when I was a baby , I was a crying baby too in the plane ✈️.
A baby's cry is meant to annoy so it's needs are met. Only means of communication.

That's what I do as well, but at Heathrow they don't post them till the last minute unfortunately
thejazzguy13 Aviation it’s usually the same gate
Very nice video. I have a question. How come in Heathrow airport you never see any police cars? I just curious that's all.
My next flight to Dulles
Date June 28
Time depart 1120
Time arrival 1424
Aircraft b777 or b787
Great video!
Thanks you!

the flight im scheduled on from Amsterdam in july departs AMS around 445p into ATL around 8p so far a KLM 777-300
Good luck, and hope you can make it over here by then. I don't think I've ever had a bad flight with KLM returning to the US.
Im so pissed off because i cant go to the UK due to COVID19! The same with spain now i cant go to neither of those countrys because of COVID19
What time did you take off and arrive.

The moral of this video in a nutshell: DON'T TAKE UR KIDS ON A FLIGHT 'TILL THEY'RE *SOMEWHAT* MATURED!!
Don't take that too seriously lol
When I grow up I wan to do collage at London UK
18:28 ur going over my house

Do you like that
Babies on board are absolutely unacceptable! So rude. No crying.
Took the same flight same model (B787) the opposite direction in January. Absolutely hated it. Super narrow seat (first row in coach) I am a thin guy (5 feet 10 inches; 150 pounds) and it was the most uncomfortable seat I ever sat on an airplane. Just terrible.
Exits pointed out by your "gorgeous" cabin crew.
Wow, you must be pretty lucky to finally find a flight from London to Washington that takes only 29 minutes.
Misleading title.
But this ain't economy... right?
At my flight we didn't get that much at meal time.
You have flown during the beginning COVID-19.
In the very beginning, maybe a bit beforehand.
11:03 takeoff
7:54 brup
I'm take vac very soon
You took same as Hainan airlines 787.
Very funny you are saying Coronaviru at the title probably you brought this crisis
You should be informed about the gate number during check in front desk instead of browsing and confusion
Some how Alec HD does not work.
Thejazzmom13 lol what does that mean
7:53 Nice burp lmao!
Across the pond? Haha
Very cheating on dinner menu. They copied from Peruvian food. The lovely quinoa
what sound do you love kids crying
You made the video in covid 19.
jaweia apii
JaweaiAqii
Baby stop crying for a while
The baby ruined it for me sorry I stopped watching midway
Oh No you get a baby every flight it seems!!! Agree that food looks awful, even for steerage.
I'm convinced that there is an FAA regulation that states that no aircraft can take off from or head to the US without a screaming infant on board! Usually in ALL classes!
No doubt about it! :D
Cry meter lol too funny
