Yep, I noticed that, the older steward on the opposite door as he boarded couldn't even be bothered to look in passengers direction! Virgin Atlantic is so much nicer...
the only reason i would choose to fly premium economy is the 2x2 seat configuration which gives a greater feeling of space. The seats themselves are not that much different to economy seats...
The BA777 has 10 inches of recline in premium economy which is quite of a lot. On the one hand it makes it more comfortable to sleep in the seat, but on the other hand it really hampers the passenger behind. Economy has 5 inches of recline. That said, the pitch is 7 inches greater in premium economy so even with the additional 5 inches of recline, you still have 2 inches more room in premium vs economy when the passenger in front is reclined fully.
Did you share how much the difference was between economy and premium for this flight? I've found that buying an economy ticket and upgrading later is often cheaper than booking premium to being with.
niced video thanks for sharing. Sept 8th 2024 my wife and I are flying to LHR from YYZ BA Premium Economy I upgraded and that was from original booking of economy. After watching your video I think I may just upgrade to Business. Thanks
Hi Jonathan, LHR-YYZ-BA are using their A350 and I’ve not tried that seat or plane yet It might be worth watching a review of the 350 premium before making your decision Have a great trip and thank you for watching 😁
@tradingplaces787 Thanks, I had already upgraded on my BA flight from economy to Premium economy when I originally booked the flight. Reasons were I wanted more leg room for comfort. However, after watching your video on the A350-1000, I'm thinking, wow, maybe I made a mistake. I am planning to ask about upgrading to business from premium anyway once at checking counter and see if I score a deal. I did that last year on Lufthansa Toronto to Frankfurt and got an amazing deal and experience.
Good review. I'm not motivated to pay BA a hefty premium for a marginally better experience, for just a few hours. I have, however, upgraded to a Premium seat on a Tui Dreamliner long-haul flight. The upgrade, sold in-resort by the Tui rep, cost about £100 and that was, undoubtedly, very good value-for-money.
I’ve flown SAS premium economy and seats with recline were awesome for overnight flight- almost feels like business, plenty of space and wider seats for sure (not sure if that was A-330 or A-350)
Hi Mark. Great video. I flew to Las Vegas premium with BA last June and slightly different to this flight. Didn’t get a welcome drink but did get all drinks in glass, crew were good on the flight out but return not so good! Funnily enough I was with a friend at the weekend who is crew for BA and I asked him what the purpose of Premium is and told me how it was the most profitable part of the cabin!
Hi Greg, great information thank you 🙌 I had heard that premium economy was fattening the profit margins 😂 In a lot of cases airlines are offering 20% more seat room and service than economy but are getting away with charging 50% more per ticket. Great for BA if they can get it 😂 Thank you for watching and have a great week😄
I’ve done premium economy a couple of times now in British Airways and both times disappointed. They fail to tell you that was a big massive chunk of metal in between the seats and also failed to tell you that some seats have the entertainment PC where the foot space is so you actually lose space. The underseat footrest is good for short people but for those 6 foot and above it makes you sit at a funny angle to make sure you get your feet on the foot rest and in your seat
Nice vid mate, BA sadly in my opinion is behind everyone in anything premium. Norse is surprisingly excellent and the best PE I’ve ever flown by far is Air New Zealand! 👍🏻
Hi, and thank you for the positive feedback. Norse sounds great and is an airline that I haven’t thought of trying before. Air NZ is a dream flight for me and I’m very jealous 😂🙌 Have a great weekend 😄
I've flown in every travel class with BA. Premium was rather underwhelming and only a small step up from economy at almost twice the price. I usually fly Club for longer flights and stick to economy for short hops. Excellent review, BTW..
The baggage factor was raised briefly at the end of the video, but for many it's more a serious consideration. If you're flying long-haul with extra luggage, with the right flight, BA Premium Economy can end up being as little as around £15 more than the cost of economy plus an extra bag. In many cases PE costs a lot more and isn't worth it. But where BA PE can be found within around ~£180 of the PE price, and you need an extra checked bag (that would cost £120 alone), it's not such a bad deal. Another big factor that wasn't covered in the video (although understandably because this was a solo trip) is travelling with someone else. If you're travelling with a partner, for example, regular economy's 3-3-3 gives you no guarantee of having space just to yourselves. [Sidenote: with crafty use of advance seat selection in 3-3-3, one of you can choose a window seat and the other an aisle, and hope nobody is daft enough to choose to be sandwiched between you. But this is always risky.] BA PE, though, is in a 2-4-2 configuration. This is ideal for couples and enables you (with advance seat selection, anyway) to sit with your partner with a window and aisle seat just to yourselves.
Hi Ed, you make some great points and I totally agree it’s all price dependent and if the difference is small it’s not a bad upgrade. Thank you for your comment and have a great weekend
I have trevelled PE before to Orlando and wouldn’t waste the cash again for the exact reasons you showed. I would rather save a bit more and travel business as for me that is definitely worth the upgrade cost. The only way I’d travel PE again is if the flight was over about 9 hours and there were no business class seats available.
Hi Andrew, I totally agree with all your points and feel the same. Business or slumming it in economy for me going forwards but then knowing I have more cash to spend on arrival 😂 Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 🙌😁
@@anthony64632 True. At 6 foot 3 = 190 cm, I do economy as much as I do premium economy or business class. Sometimes premium is worth it; sometimes not. It's not an easy choice; hence, I watch these youtube reviews for helpful information in choosing what to book.
I’m 6’7” and wondering if economy seating bulkhead is comparable. I for sure need more leg room but wondering if premium economy is worth 3x the price. Also, seeing where some airlines have seats with drastic reclining and concerned with someone’s seat in my lap. Also, not seeing much difference in the food.
Nice video, thanks for sharing. Five years ago I flew premium on Alitalia from Rome to Chicago,. For a daytime flight, premium was great and I had much more legroom than what you showed on BA. Unfortunately, Alitalia no longer flies, so I have no idea how ITA is in premium. Overall, I have been okay with BA on trans-Atlantic flights, although I usually splurge and go Business Class.
Hi DC, Rome to Chicago! I really like the more unusual routes like that 🙌 And I agree, it’s business or economy for me too, going forwards 😂 Have a great weekend 😄
This is a very helpful video and has helped steer a decision I’ve been sitting on for months! I’ve managed to build up a lot of Avios which I plan to use for economy flights over the coming years as I have 2 young kids under 6. I’m planning an anniversary trip to the Maldives next year and was thinking of spending the extra Avios on PE but at almost double the Avios and cost in terms of taxes, I just don’t see double the value in what is offered. We’re a short family so none of us really have an issue in economy but that extra 120,000 Avios is basically four flights to Egypt which to me is far better than the ‘step up’ to premium.
Lets remember that there is generally (even) less space in economy these days.... a b787 economy seat was very tight... best thing about premium is rhe chance of being upgraded to Club which has happened to me 3 times on BA.Also possible to upgrade to Club usung Avios
Hi Richard, you make some great points 👍 I very rarely get upgraded, I must just have one of them faces 🤦♂️😂 Thank you for watching and have a great week 😄
@@tradingplaces787 I've had one upgrade from PE to CW and that was around 7 years ago on my birthday. A handful though from ET to CE on LHR-MAN flights, perhaps because of status (was GGL but now silver), but I treat those as a downgrade especially when I've chosen an economy exit row seat and end up in a bog standard seat in Club Europe. I don't mind paying a little extra for PE, although I tend to do this on ex-EU flights as it can be a few hundred £ cheaper than flying from the UK. 90TP Vs. 20 or so in economy quite often makes it worthwhile if I'm chasing status (especially if it's say £688 from ARN-SFO in PE and £320 in basic economy). As for redeeming Avios for upgrades, there never seems to be any availability when I fly. I refuse to pay maybe £3k for a CW seat for a few hours (especially for an overnight return from New York or Boston where the flight can be 6hrs, a good 3hrs of which will be meal services, crew banging around and lights on).
I've booked Premium Economy to Denver in October on the A350 on a miles redemption so thankfully not too expensive. Have picked an aisle seat to make sure I can get in and out!
This happened to me from Manchester to Mexico, it was horrible and same as you there were some seats at the back empty so we moved. I'm really glad you shared this. Best wishes
Hi, it absolutely sucks doesn’t it 🤦 I don’t think they should let people recline unless the passenger behind agrees as it’s their space that gets taken up Thank you for your comment and have a great week 😁
I'm about to get on a flight for the first time, due to health issues I opted for premium economy as can't afford buisness class and need the leg room probably go for a seat at the back so I don't bother anyone if I wish to recline, as I more than likely will be doing. I'm glad to see that you are able to move seats if you wish, I didn't know this, do you have to let someone know though if you want to move?
@Littlecrumpet hiya, I told an air hostess about the problem and she told us there was space further down the plane near the back and that we could move down there as the plane wasn't full. This was a few years ago with Thomas cook so I hope other companies will do this for you. We enjoyed the rest of our journey on to Mexico with plenty of space. Hope this helps. X
@@LukeMorris11 BA use the same seat in all their premium economy cabins so it should be very similar. It could be slightly newer looking but it will be the same pod seat 👍
@@tradingplaces787 Thank you for the quick response! Was curiously looking at LA flights and going out was a 777 but coming back was an A380 so wasn't sure if they'd be any different. Thanks again!
I think it's worth it for long haul flights! Especially if you're traveling with children, the elderly or anyone with special needs. If it is off season you may actually have a good shot of upgrading from economy to premium economy for less money by doing so "last minute" (48 hours or less before your flight) on the airline's app , by calling or asking at the gate. It always helps to have & use mileage points too :)
We are flying Premium Economy to Vancouver from London in August, had flown it to Crete a couple of times was not impressed, once dinner service was over crew disappeared until half hour before landing.
Hi Roy I felt the same, the crew were really nice on my flight but all of the details in making it feel like a premium experience were miles off point and for the price I paid, I expected more. Have a great evening 😄
I'd only upgrade to PE on an ultra long-haul. That seat recline is a serious design issue which will probably remain. I don't think the BA product is class leading, others do it better. Nice report though.
The cup of tea in a paper cup is the killer for me. I recently did the SAS premium to NYC from Stockholm. They did the same thing with the first drink being served in plastic. While the main course drinks had glassware. So it seems standard. I picked the front row window to avoid the recline issue. All in all, OK for a day flight. The return I had booked in Biz as it was overnight. Of the price is right, premium is not bad. But, it will never feel premium enough, if you’re used to biz. The bonus with the SAS premium was that lounge / fast track and biz check in was offered. Haven’t seen that in other airlines. Also, your 2nd meal looks like economy. But. UK to Doha is shorter than Stockholm to NYC.
Hi Adam, totally agree about paper cups, they really lower the premium vibe 😂 SAS giving lounge access is a nice touch and something I didn’t know so thank you for that 👍 Have a great week and thank you for watching 😄
at 190 cm tall, I appreciate the greater seat pitch. Anything else, I have to rely on BA Gold Status, to get anything more than a sneer from service crew. Gold Status gets me First Wing check-in, security, and lounge access. If I were any shorter, there absolutely no way that I could justify the added cost. Of course, female social media influencers always will insist that upgrades are worth it.
I'd say due to the massive price difference between Economy and Premium best sit it out in Economy I would! People certainly trade up to Premium but I wonder if anyone ever trades down from Business to it ?say if they can't get their employer to pay Business?I'd imagine that someone who needs to be in a place but Business is full must step down to Premium.
Only flown in PE once back in April and I enjoyed it… because I paid for economy and when I went to choose my seat for my flight the night before, I noticed they’d upgraded me for feee. So I couldn’t complain about it 😂😂
I just flew PE on BA from Stuttgart to Phoenix (11 hours) 2 weeks ago. It wasn't too bad. Seats aren't as wide as you would find on domestic 1st class, but I think the legroom was pretty comparable. I'm 6'3" 325 and did OK.
I went to Dubai with Emerites and the Premium seat was hard and my Backside was Numb! I also had the guy in front of decide without warning he would go back as far as he could and yes same amount of space as BA. Emerites are better quality and a lot more professional but those seats are hard. Will try Virgin next time!
I had looked at Premium Economy but, not too keen now as you seem really cramped when someone puts their seat back. That’s what I hate in economy and it doesn’t seem any better in premium. Thanks for an informative video.
I tend to sit at the back of the cabin. At least there, I can recline as soon as possible for all the flight and don't have to fret about reclining into anyone. Probably have someone recline in front of me 50% of the time - not so bad on the aisle, but the fixed centre console does make getting out of the window awkward. And the TV is pretty much in your face. To be honest 90TP instead of 20-35TP? in economy for a LHR-SFO flight makes it worthwhile for me. I'll often start in Europe where prices can be a good £400+ cheaper than starting in say London. There's little difference in food, drink, toilets and service over economy (or business a lot of time to be honest) although the seat, especially compared to very cramped economy on a 787, is a Godsend.
I have used premium economy and to be honest, I think it is much closer to economy than business. I now either book economy within Europe and business outside. It's not value for money on British Airways.
I agree! Premium economy not worth the hype, we flew premium Emirates and it was very much the same experience ,when seats are reclined with passenger in front of you. No room to get in and out . Although glasses served all the way
I flew BA premium economy on the Heathrow flight to Santiago, on the Dreamliner. I found the service and comfort excellent on that 15 hour flight. The cabin crew were kind and professional, the food and drink good, and I slept quite comfortably. We were in the outer rows with just two seats together. Returning with BA on a 777 from Buenos Aires via Rio was a different experience. Far less comfort in the central seats of four, and the cabin crews I found rude, offhand and unprofessional.
Hi Sue, and thank you for the very interesting comment. I might be tempted to give the Dreamliner a try at some point, all my long haul BA reviews have been on their 777 so far so it would be good to compare. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend 😁
Very good review. PE is definitely more comfortable than Economy in terms of seat width and leg room but i was unpleasantly surprised how much the seat in front reclined (really think the recline should be limited) - so much so the TV screen seemed practically in my face! I think better value is to get a front row in Economy / exit row seat. PE food was ok but they seemed to not want to serve alcoholic drinks for the snack before landing - or perhaps I just had a stingey FA.
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience. You make a great point about front row in economy and that’s exactly what I’d try and do in the future 😁👍 Some of the FA’s act like the alcohol they are serving is out of their own private stash 😂 Thank you for watching and have a great week 😁
I will fly this one, imagine I used British airways to Dubai as a non Stop locally I will be thrilled. Wish to fly with ba. I get chance to look at the cockpit after landing.
I normally upgrade to WT for the extra room. Which means loads since having a knee replacement, I struggle on flights over 3 hours now. Sometimes, you find the price difference isn't that much better Club. If WT is that expensive to MCO for example I'll drive from ATL or IAD. Did you not get mid flight snacks ? I noticed they have been offering this in WT
Hi David, thank you for your comment and with a bad knee you definitely need that bit more room under the seat in front of you 👍 I got a cup of tea and a chicken roll as a snack just as we were about to descend, have I missed out on extra snacks? 🤦♂️ Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄👍
The key word here is "Economy". Premium means it is a bit better than Economy. In the circumstances I respectfully think that you were expecting too much - perhaps a business class service would address your (mild) criticisms. If British Airways go where I want to go then I always fly with them, usually in Premium Economy but now and again in Business. You get what you pay for with BA. Much better than my experience in Premium Economy with similar airlines - particularly from America.
Hi Bkk, any other row than row 1 and the passengers in front of you both recline you’re in for an uncomfortable flight 🤦♂️😂 Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
My goodness you bloggers much put so much work into your reviews, I agree with one of the previous comments, the crew where a right miserable bunch of old boilers when you where boarding , just like a lot of American Airlines like “ Delta “ where they can’t retire the old biddies due too union regulations.
Great review, thanks 😊 I’m flying premium economy in November and will be interested in what food is provided for me as I have coeliac disease and require gluten free food 🤔
Hi Diane, I think you can pre order gluten free meals a day before you’re due to depart. I’ve not tried one of those meals so can’t comment, but I hope you have a fabulous flight experience 🙌🛫😁
I mostly use companion vouchers and Avios to fly business class on BA but if I have to pay then it's WTP. I do this to avoid having to sit next to a stranger for 9 hours or longer when it's me and the missus! As far as I can tell all long haul BA aircraft have a minimum block of 3 in economy. Would probably be cheaper to just pay for 3 economy seats and use the outer 2 but not sure if you can do that? No way the extra space and food / drinks is worth the extra cost for WTP so it's the block of 2 that decides it for me. An even bigger waste of money is Club Europe which doesn't even have any extra legroom and just the middle seat blocked out. So the lost seat justifies a 50% higher price, plus the meal and drinks - another £25?? Club Europe seats are way more expensive than that multiplier!
Hi, that’s a really interesting point you make👍 I was sat on the dreadful Club Europe seat yesterday on the way back from Istanbul and it wasn’t pleasant 😂 Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
I haven’t but it’s on the list 🙌 Those dreamy cream leather seats look really nice and I’d love to try it out 👀😂 Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁
Flew back from japan to the UK last week Emirates premium. Two arab chaps in front immediately fully reclined their seats...and kept them like that full flight, 12 hours even during meals service. Horrible, so cramped. Had to contort to leave my seat for the lavatory. I felt more comfortable in economy and preferred the food. One of the men took their shoes off and put their bare feet up on the side, that was my view the full flight. Complained to the stewardess to ask him to put his seat up whilst i ate. He refused. Emirates staff not bothered. I'll never fly PE again with them
@@donnapalmer3066 That’s disgusting. Also, I thought it was compulsory to have seats up during meal times. I’ve seen crew tell passengers to sit up on other flights. Over last few days, I have watched clips from some other RUclips reviewers, who have said the recline is a problem.
Flying with Tui premium economy is better. Ok, they fly to Orlando melbourne, which is 70 miles from orlando, but you get dedicated checking, fast track security, and lounge access.
Only upgraded to Premium Economy if its under £200 per flight. Usually this means myself flying out in economy and flying back in PE due to taxes. Edit: meant to say £200 on top of economy
What about the recline and the foot rest in premium economy in comparison to the economy class seat? Does it make much of a difference? Did you had the feeling of traveling more comfy or getting to your destination more rested? Thank you in advance. Great video 😊
Hi Sam, in premium the recline and footrest definitely adds something you don’t get in economy but I didn’t arrive feeling any more rested by being in premium. For the price point I expected a better all round experience. Thank you for watching 😁
Flying Heathrow to Florida in August in premium economy, then business on the way back… are you allowed to keep the blanket and pillow provided? I didn’t think you could but it’s in his giveaway with the amenities kit? I might be wrong, ty!
Agree it doesn't look very comfortable does it unless you are in row 1. I would only book premium economy with cash if I could upgrade to Business using AVIOS.
Another enjoyable video. You certainly lucked out with a quiet cabin and being able to move seats when the passenger in front reclined his seat, could have been a miserable experience for you if it was a fully booked flight. Personally I'd rather pay extra for a Club World seat, or even better Qatar Airways Q suite on this route. Thanks for posting Mark- as a recent winner of one of your giveaways, please don't enter me this time to give other viewers a chance 😊
Hi Mr, yeah it was a really quiet flight this time thankfully I think I’d have tried to move to an empty economy seat if there wasn’t any other spare seats in premium 🤦♂️ Btw, I’ve got another Diptyque to give away next week again 🙌😂 Have a great week and take care 😄
Hi, would you know if the armrests in PE by the window/aisle lift up (not the middle where the table is stored as i can see that doesn't lift up). Great review!
Search British Airways Seat Maps online. It shows you which seats have lifting arms by marking them with a dot. In premium economy it will only be the aisle seats and the one arm that is on the aisle (as the table is in the other arm). Also, all bulkhead seats do not have lifting arms on any side.
I only upgrade to PE if its under £100 for the upgrade otherwise its not worth it. We were lucky enough to upgrade for £84pp on our overnight flight from Cancun
@tradingplaces787 we had an incredible time but unfortunately our PE experience was spoilt by a fellow passenger complaining about us putting our seats back to sleep 😢. She kicked my husband seat almost all night
We recently flew from LasVegas to LHR and the guy in front of us did the exact same thing of reclining their seat which made it near impossible to get out to the bathroom. Do you happen to know if the last row on PE recline fully as well? Cant find much on the web confirming this. I am flying from HK back to LHR in a couple of months and dont want to be in that situation again.
Agree with Joel I certainly think you were in the way with those 2 older cabin crew, how can they totally ignore you like that, they both need to go back to training school, many people do criticise BA cabin crew, I've never experienced it before but those 2 were not setting a good example . I would send the vid to BA customer services that's not acceptable.
Hi, I’m kind of oblivious to this type of thing at the time as I’m in the moment and like a kid walking into a sweet shop 😂 but looking back I totally agree with you both. I’ll make sure to keep more of an eye on this type of stuff going forwards Thank you for your comment and have a great week 😄
We just flew British Airways. The crew did not give a damn about anyone. The economy is completely ridiculous for an international flight. Avoid British Airways.
Hi Mark, I think I wouldn't pay for PE as it isnt really worth all the extra cash for, so no from me! Better to go Business if possible. Great video review as usual 😊
When you Google World Traveller plus tickets access to lounges. But then it is British Airways from staff as seen in this video do not give a F… Uk. Last time I travelled before Covid had paid extra for 2 seats £ 150. But given to some one else & when complained threatened to deboard me & wife , we are 70.
Hey thanks for the informative video! I am getting a deal where I have to pay around GBP 1200 extra for 3 people (GBP 400 each) for a return flight from India to US via LHR on British Airways. I guess thats a really good deal?? Considering India - LHR is around 9 hours and LHR-JFK is another 7 hours and then same time for return..GBP 1200 for 3 people for return flights seems reasonable? Thanks.
We just flew premium economy in BA. It was dreadful compared to other premium econmy experiences we have had. My husbands entertainment centre was broken. We were left thirsty most of the flight and only offered 4 small drinks on an 8 hour flight. Only 2 single alcoholic drinks. Then only water or fruit juice after that. We only had a glass at dinner. Worst part was the plane was delayed for 2 hours, whilst we were all sat on it. No drinks or snacks were offered. The final meal/snack was a disgusting tiny pastry, we didn't get a cake with ours. We were absolutely starving when we finally got to our hotel. The leg room was good until someone reclined their seat, and the air con was awful. The only great thing about it was how nice the staff were. BA definitely need to make huge improvements to their service. I doubt we would ever use them again.
Hi Michelle, very similar to my experience in service and food quality. There is absolutely nothing what I would call premium about the product in anyway 🤦 I feel it should be called economy plus rather than premium as it would reflect the on board experience far more. Thank you for sharing and take care 😁
Hi, I think you might get one or two drinks in economy but after that you’ve got to get your cash out 😂 Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁
You're going to be giving the blanket & pillow, along with the ammenity kit away? (ermm...they really aren't meant to be taken, apart from the ammenity kit)
BA , a budget airline at premium prices. I'm flying Mexico city next month business and premium back. I got rid of my BA card 6 months ago. I'm done with them. Also luggage collection is a joke at T5 , you'll be waiting an hr and a half even with a business ticket. For me Qatar has so far been my favourite carrier
most of us aren’t that fussed about the airport/lounge ‘experience’ or business class. Surely the main info is things like how wide the seats are, how much legroom? show measurements, maybe a quick sit in economy to compare how cramped it really is. Of course its not perfect (they want you in business) but that shot of the economy seat looked massively cramped even with the seat in front not reclined.
Hi Mark, Nah not worth it mate. Wow the FA's looked very unhappy. I hope BA is treating them well. Fly safe 🛫 and Take care, Al from Florida 🇺🇲 🌞 9:31 🌴🐚🌊🐟. SRQ
1) they oversold my flight. 2) their online check in system didn’t work. 3) the kiosks at LHR airport didn’t work. 4) manual check in counters were woefully understaffed and slow and endless queues… all their other customers at LHR were angry too. 5) the bumped me to connect to Air France flight that was also already fully booked.. insult to injury. 6) their staff just generally didn’t give a $hit whilst milling about chit chatting. My experience with BA was frustrating, humiliating and dehumanizing; they treated me like a refugee or cattle, instead of the paying American customer that I am. I speak perfect English as well and kept my cool despite BAs total cluster F … makes me wonder if I been better served if I was actually British or do they treat everyone like second class citizens. Do not fly BA!!!
Hi Andrew thank you for sharing, I’m sorry to hear of your awful experience. When things go wrong like this it can definitely leave a bitter taste as you’ve paid your money out expecting a half decent service and then been totally let down. I hope you’re okay, I’d maybe think about trying to ask for some sort of reimbursement. Take care 😁
@@tradingplaces787 oh did I forget to mention, I had to overnight in Paris with zero help from BA… bumped to another Air France flight the next day. Now I’m finally home but my luggage is lost god knows where even though originally it was a carry on BA forced me check it giving me a tag showing LHR-CDG-LAX. Filed luggage trace with BA and AD but not getting my hopes up.😞 have literally zero trust in airlines
Great video as usual! I had Premium Economy with Virgin Atlantic and it was exactly like Economy, so no, not worth the price! However, the seating area in front of you is much wider than Virgin's was on the 787 which is a good thing, except when the guy puts his seat back! I hate when that happens! Thank you for another super video!
Hi and thank you, I was thinking of trying out Virgin’s premium economy seat to compare the two, but BA have put me off premium for life so I might have to give it a miss now 😂 Thank you for watching and have a great evening
Hi, thank you for your comment. I’m not a fan of premium and always prefer to save my cash and go for economy 😂 Have a great week and thank you for watching 😁
No tried premium economy would not do again, uncomfortable seats complained to no avail, have since travelled business class with quatar and Emirates, costly but oh my goodness worth it.
You always forget to mention the extra baggage you are allowed. We flew to TLV and had planned on flying Economy, then we looked at adding the extra luggage we needed to take and this was going to whack on nearly £160 per person, so we looked at PE and for the same amount of money, we had all that extra space, excellent food and we had plenty of luggage allowance for our extra baggage. So yes PE is worth the extra money with BA. IF you want Lounge access and fast track fly with Virgin and add another few hundred £££'s. But it's Subjective, what I found suitable and good value, you may not. We did have the issue of the Reclining person in front of us and the crew were pretty swift at telling them to put their seat up to let people out and one even reclined her seat just before food service, again the crew were not shy at telling her to put her seat up. We would use PE again but we have opted for Business class this next trip, it was supposed to be on an A350 with club suites but the whole route has been downgraded to Club Europe which is pretty annoying, but at least they haven't downgraded our tier points, so we are still hitting Silver with 1 trip and then Gold with the second one in December. One thing I will praise BA for is their Assistance services, even in TLV they are outstanding.
Hi Dos, you didn’t listen until the end then as I did say if I needed to fly with extra luggage I’d consider it 😂 Cheeky cheeky 😁 I hope you’re well and thank you for watching Have a great weekend 🙌
Good vid but... The CORRECT question is "Is British Airways worth it", the answer is; reliability, value, comfort and honesty are all better on other carriers.
Only Travel economy on Shorthall . Always club on Long haul. And only BA I personally don’t think you can beat them. Not a fan of Emirates or Virgin both bad experiences .
Why are the British airways crew always so moody? I’ve flown business a couple of times with BA and the service is below par. I always find that the crew act like they’re doing you a favour when you ask them to get you a drink or make your bed etc. Like I’ve dropped over a grand on this Jesus !!!
Hi, it’s a strange one with BA’s crew, they can either be absolutely amazing or unbelievably awful and there seems to be no level of service in between 🤦😂 Thank you for sharing and have a great week 😁👍
I’m cabin crew for BA and I’m shocked by the crew on boarding, it’s not hard to say hello and also apologise for being in the way!
Hi Sj, it was a bit of a strange welcome that’s for sure 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great week 😁
Wow. That was a warm welcome from the crew as you got on the plane… not!
Hi Joel, I did think that myself but didn’t want to highlight it 😂🤦♂️
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
Thats just the way the UK is now... sad.
British airways staff have always been moody arses, I prefer to fly Virgin.
However Qatar airways service is unrivalled
Pretty much 99.9% of my BA flights have been the same.
Hi, it did feel that way.
This was my first time in premium with BA and it will probably be my last 😂
Thank you for watching 😁
Was thinking the same but what about when the front seat reclines ? That would literally be me not getting out the seat
Hi, that’s really good information thank you 🙌
An extra 2 inches can make the world of differences!
I really like the 10 inches of recline. Makes the long flight more comfortable. I also had no issues getting in and out with the front seat reclined.
niced video thanks for sharing. Sept 8th 2024 my wife and I are flying to LHR from YYZ BA Premium Economy I upgraded and that was from original booking of economy. After watching your video I think I may just upgrade to Business. Thanks
Hi Jonathan, LHR-YYZ-BA are using their A350 and I’ve not tried that seat or plane yet
It might be worth watching a review of the 350 premium before making your decision
Have a great trip and thank you for watching 😁
@tradingplaces787 Thanks, I had already upgraded on my BA flight from economy to Premium economy when I originally booked the flight. Reasons were I wanted more leg room for comfort. However, after watching your video on the A350-1000, I'm thinking, wow, maybe I made a mistake.
I am planning to ask about upgrading to business from premium anyway once at checking counter and see if I score a deal. I did that last year on Lufthansa Toronto to Frankfurt and got an amazing deal and experience.
Thanks for another great review. Agree about BA PE not being worth the price - upgrading using points is a better value option.
Thank you J, i try and save my points for first and business if i can 🙌
Thank you for watching 😁
Good review.
I'm not motivated to pay BA a hefty premium for a marginally better experience, for just a few hours. I have, however, upgraded to a Premium seat on a Tui Dreamliner long-haul flight. The upgrade, sold in-resort by the Tui rep, cost about £100 and that was, undoubtedly, very good value-for-money.
Hi, I’ve heard good things about Tui premium and at £100 it sounds like a proper bargain 🙌
Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend 😁
Hi Greg, great information thank you 🙌
I had heard that premium economy was fattening the profit margins 😂
In a lot of cases airlines are offering 20% more seat room and service than economy but are getting away with charging 50% more per ticket.
Great for BA if they can get it 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great week😄
I’ve done premium economy a couple of times now in British Airways and both times disappointed. They fail to tell you that was a big massive chunk of metal in between the seats and also failed to tell you that some seats have the entertainment PC where the foot space is so you actually lose space. The underseat footrest is good for short people but for those 6 foot and above it makes you sit at a funny angle to make sure you get your feet on the foot rest and in your seat
Hi Lee, thanks for sharing your experience
I agree with all your points 👍😁
Thank you for watching 🙌
Nice vid mate, BA sadly in my opinion is behind everyone in anything premium. Norse is surprisingly excellent and the best PE I’ve ever flown by far is Air New Zealand! 👍🏻
Hi, and thank you for the positive feedback.
Norse sounds great and is an airline that I haven’t thought of trying before.
Air NZ is a dream flight for me and I’m very jealous 😂🙌
Have a great weekend 😄
I've flown in every travel class with BA. Premium was rather underwhelming and only a small step up from economy at almost twice the price. I usually fly Club for longer flights and stick to economy for short hops. Excellent review, BTW..
Hi Sandip, I thought exactly the same 👍
Thank you for watching 😄
Business or slumming it in economy for me going forwards but then knowing I have more cash to spend on arrival 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 🙌😁
It depends how tall you are, in my case, 6'5, premium economy is a lot more comfortable and well worth it for longhaul flights.
Sadly I don’t suffer with that issue 😂
Thank you for sharing your thoughts 😁👍
Not always as I flew PE from Johannesburg to Zurich on Swiss Air, it was awful as I am 6'4.
I really like the more unusual routes like that 🙌
And I agree, it’s business or economy for me too, going forwards 😂
Have a great weekend 😄
Thank you so much for sharing and its great that the review has helped you choose the right seat 🙌
Have a wonderful time in the Maldives 😁☀️🙌
Lets remember that there is generally (even) less space in economy these days.... a b787 economy seat was very tight... best thing about premium is rhe chance of being upgraded to Club which has happened to me 3 times on BA.Also possible to upgrade to Club usung Avios
Hi Richard, you make some great points 👍
I very rarely get upgraded, I must just have one of them faces 🤦♂️😂
Thank you for watching and have a great week 😄
That sounds great 👍
I’d love to try the 350 myself 🙌
Thank you for watching and have a safe flight 😄
This happened to me from Manchester to Mexico, it was horrible and same as you there were some seats at the back empty so we moved. I'm really glad you shared this. Best wishes
Hi, it absolutely sucks doesn’t it 🤦
I don’t think they should let people recline unless the passenger behind agrees as it’s their space that gets taken up
Thank you for your comment and have a great week 😁
That seatrecline thing was worththe entire video! Thank you!
Hi Alison, I couldn’t believe how tight it made the seat pitch 🤦
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 🙌😁
@@tradingplaces787 Hello mate, thanks for the video, do you know if this is across all the planes or is it particular to what you flew on?
Hi Jan, you make some great points and I agree if you have plenty of miles it’s not a bad option 😁🙌
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁
We are flying Premium Economy to Vancouver from London in August, had flown it to Crete a couple of times was not impressed, once dinner service was over crew disappeared until half hour before landing.
Hi Roy I felt the same, the crew were really nice on my flight but all of the details in making it feel like a premium experience were miles off point and for the price I paid, I expected more.
Have a great evening 😄
Just booked Premium on our outbound flight to Miami but business home for the night flight.
Hi Will, that’s great as you’ll get to experience both seats and the different services offered 😁🙌
Have a great trip and take care 😁🙌
I'd only upgrade to PE on an ultra long-haul. That seat recline is a serious design issue which will probably remain. I don't think the BA product is class leading, others do it better. Nice report though.
Hi Gary, thank you for positive feedback and thank you for watching 😄👍
Hi Adam, totally agree about paper cups, they really lower the premium vibe 😂
SAS giving lounge access is a nice touch and something I didn’t know so thank you for that 👍
Have a great week and thank you for watching 😄
at 190 cm tall, I appreciate the greater seat pitch.
Hi, I totally get that and understand if you’re tall then you’d need that extra bit of pitch, sadly I don’t have that issue 😂👍
Hi Kevin, I really wouldn’t like to trade down from business into premium 🤦♂️😂
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁
Only flown in PE once back in April and I enjoyed it… because I paid for economy and when I went to choose my seat for my flight the night before, I noticed they’d upgraded me for feee. So I couldn’t complain about it 😂😂
😂🙌
Free upgrades are my favourite 🤩
Thank you for watching and have a great week 😁
What’s happened to BA cabin Crewe. The guy ignored and the lady that was in the way didn’t engage.
Thanks for watching Grahams 😁👍
I just flew PE on BA from Stuttgart to Phoenix (11 hours) 2 weeks ago. It wasn't too bad. Seats aren't as wide as you would find on domestic 1st class, but I think the legroom was pretty comparable. I'm 6'3" 325 and did OK.
Hi Steve, I’m glad you had a great flight and thank you for sharing your experience 😁👍
Hi Anne, thank you for the positive feedback 🙌
I’m glad my review has helped 😁
Have a great trip and thank you for watching
I have done KLM Premium Comfort. Bulkhead seat. Looking back no extras like you mentioned. Next time economy!
Hi, Pedro, yeah save your cash 👍
Thank you for watching 😁
I have used premium economy and to be honest, I think it is much closer to economy than business. I now either book economy within Europe and business outside. It's not value for money on British Airways.
Hi, and I totally agree with you and will do the same going forwards
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
I agree! Premium economy not worth the hype, we flew premium Emirates and it was very much the same experience ,when seats are reclined with passenger in front of you. No room to get in and out . Although glasses served all the way
Nice video my friend and I are going to Ireland next September
Thank you Angie, have a great trip 😁🙌
You make a great point about front row in economy and that’s exactly what I’d try and do in the future 😁👍
Some of the FA’s act like the alcohol they are serving is out of their own private stash 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great week 😁
I wonder why BA didn’t bother refitting some of their 777 200’s with the newer IFE touchscreens. Do you know why?
H Top Gear, I’m not sure tbh although with BA it’s normally always about saving cash 😂
@@tradingplaces787 I wonder will BA refit their 777 200’s that still have the old IFE touchscreens and replace them with the new ones?
I will fly this one, imagine I used British airways to Dubai as a non Stop locally I will be thrilled. Wish to fly with ba. I get chance to look at the cockpit after landing.
Definitely miles better than economy especially on long haul flights
Hi David, thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁🙌
I normally upgrade to WT for the extra room. Which means loads since having a knee replacement, I struggle on flights over 3 hours now. Sometimes, you find the price difference isn't that much better Club.
If WT is that expensive to MCO for example I'll drive from ATL or IAD.
Did you not get mid flight snacks ? I noticed they have been offering this in WT
Hi David, thank you for your comment and with a bad knee you definitely need that bit more room under the seat in front of you 👍
I got a cup of tea and a chicken roll as a snack just as we were about to descend, have I missed out on extra snacks? 🤦♂️
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄👍
The key word here is "Economy". Premium means it is a bit better than Economy. In the circumstances I respectfully think that you were expecting too much - perhaps a business class service would address your (mild) criticisms. If British Airways go where I want to go then I always fly with them, usually in Premium Economy but now and again in Business. You get what you pay for with BA. Much better than my experience in Premium Economy with similar airlines - particularly from America.
Hi John I’m coming to America to sample the US carriers soon
Thank you for your comment 👍😁
Agree, the reclining is only ok if you are like that guy in front of you, in the first row! SQ also like that….
Hi Bkk, any other row than row 1 and the passengers in front of you both recline you’re in for an uncomfortable flight 🤦♂️😂
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
My goodness you bloggers much put so much work into your reviews, I agree with one of the previous comments, the crew where a right miserable bunch of old boilers when you where boarding , just like a lot of American Airlines like “ Delta “ where they can’t retire the old biddies due too union regulations.
Thank you and I agree, a welcome smile on boarding isn’t too much to ask 😂
Great review, thanks 😊 I’m flying premium economy in November and will be interested in what food is provided for me as I have coeliac disease and require gluten free food 🤔
Hi Diane, I think you can pre order gluten free meals a day before you’re due to depart.
I’ve not tried one of those meals so can’t comment, but I hope you have a fabulous flight experience 🙌🛫😁
@@tradingplaces787 Thank you so much for your advise and reply, much appreciated 😃
Hi, that’s a really interesting point you make👍
I was sat on the dreadful Club Europe seat yesterday on the way back from Istanbul and it wasn’t pleasant 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
Have you tried Emirates new premium economy? Have heard it's very good and is something we may be booking soon on the Perth(Oz) to UK route.
I haven’t but it’s on the list 🙌
Those dreamy cream leather seats look really nice and I’d love to try it out 👀😂
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁
Hi, I never thought about Tui, il definitely give them a go at some point in the near future.
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
Only upgraded to Premium Economy if its under £200 per flight. Usually this means myself flying out in economy and flying back in PE due to taxes.
Edit: meant to say £200 on top of economy
Hi Rob, if it’s under £200 it’s not a bad deal for a long haul flight 👍
Thank you for watching 😁
The crew gave them me to giveaway 👍
Hi Mr, yeah it was a really quiet flight this time thankfully
I think I’d have tried to move to an empty economy seat if there wasn’t any other spare seats in premium 🤦♂️
Btw, I’ve got another Diptyque to give away next week again 🙌😂
Have a great week and take care 😄
Hi, would you know if the armrests in PE by the window/aisle lift up (not the middle where the table is stored as i can see that doesn't lift up). Great review!
Hi, they are stuck in a downward position and didn’t move.
Thank you for the positive feedback 🙌😄
Search British Airways Seat Maps online. It shows you which seats have lifting arms by marking them with a dot.
In premium economy it will only be the aisle seats and the one arm that is on the aisle (as the table is in the other arm). Also, all bulkhead seats do not have lifting arms on any side.
I only upgrade to PE if its under £100 for the upgrade otherwise its not worth it. We were lucky enough to upgrade for £84pp on our overnight flight from Cancun
Hi, that’s a great price for such a long flight 🙌😊
I hope you had a great time 🛫☀️
Thank you for sharing 👍
@tradingplaces787 we had an incredible time but unfortunately our PE experience was spoilt by a fellow passenger complaining about us putting our seats back to sleep 😢. She kicked my husband seat almost all night
We recently flew from LasVegas to LHR and the guy in front of us did the exact same thing of reclining their seat which made it near impossible to get out to the bathroom. Do you happen to know if the last row on PE recline fully as well? Cant find much on the web confirming this. I am flying from HK back to LHR in a couple of months and dont want to be in that situation again.
Hi Ana, the last row does recline fully 👍
The only issue is BAs extortionate fees to pre book a seat 🤦
Have a great flight from HK 😊👍
Thank you for your reply, I hate the fact BA does that, by the time I booked for 4 people it cost quite a lot.

@@tradingplaces787 excellent, thank you
We just flew British Airways. The crew did not give a damn about anyone. The economy is completely ridiculous for an international flight. Avoid British Airways.
Great review thanks. So can you take the cushion and blanket then?
Hi Trasky, Not sure if it’s allowed but I was cheeky and asked if I could take one to give away and the FA silently nodded yes 😂
@@tradingplaces787 awesome 😀👍
Hi Mark, I think I wouldn't pay for PE as it isnt really worth all the extra cash for, so no from me! Better to go Business if possible. Great video review as usual 😊
Hi Unstoppableguy, I fully agree with your analysis again 😂
A big NO to premium from me too 🤦♂️
Thank you for watching and have a great evening 😄
@@tradingplaces787 Thanks Mark.👍 You also have a lovely evening and week ahead! 🤗
I agree completely with your assessment regarding premium economy.
Hi jjjddd, and thank you for watching 😁
When you Google World Traveller plus tickets access to lounges. But then it is British Airways from staff as seen in this video do not give a F… Uk. Last time I travelled before Covid had paid extra for 2 seats £ 150. But given to some one else & when complained threatened to deboard me & wife , we are 70.
Hi Michael, I’m sorry to hear that but thank you for sharing as it does help those watching the video 👍
Thanks.
Hi! Are the cocktails included with the price of the seat?
Hi, they are but they don’t come round very often with the drinks trolley.
Maybe twice in 7 hours 🤦
Make sure you stock up and ask for extra 😂🙌
There is absolutely nothing what I would call premium about the product in anyway 🤦
I feel it should be called economy plus rather than premium as it would reflect the on board experience far more.
Thank you for sharing and take care 😁
Can anyone tell me what the footrests are like in premium economy?
Premium economy seats have metal flip down foot rests but they are small and offer little support
Great review. I can put up with most things but the biggest dealbreaker is some inconsiderate twazzock reclining so the screen is right in your face
Hi, and I agree especially when he could have moved himself as loads of seats were still available🤷🏻
Thank you for watching 😁
Premium looked pretty empty. When did you fly?
Hi Tony, this was just a few days ago on Wednesday 👍😁
❤ I don't mind the economy in that case , but that just I am not consuming any alcohol as a perk 😊
Hi, I think you might get one or two drinks in economy but after that you’ve got to get your cash out 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁
I stopped flying BA because of staff, they have this superior vibe about them, like they are skiing you a favour. Virgin premium 10x better tbh
Hi Sarah, thank you for sharing your thoughts 😁👍
Great review. I didn’t know you ‘re allowed to take the blanket home from a flight? Looks lovely though 😂
Hi Charlie, I didn’t know if I was allowed 👀 but needed to get my monies worth 😂🙌
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄
Great review and on point. I have found AA and Iberia PE superior to that of BA.
Thank you for the positive feedback Dan 🙌😁
Have a great weekend
Great review but is that intro music from Hey Bear Sensory haha
Just had a look and I’m not sure 🤦😂
You're going to be giving the blanket & pillow, along with the ammenity kit away? (ermm...they really aren't meant to be taken, apart from the ammenity kit)
Thank you for the concern.
I explained to the crew I was doing a review and they kindly gave them to me 👍
@@tradingplaces787 You should maybe have said that in the video, as someone who's not a frequent traveller, may think it's the done thing. 😉
If you’re a frequent flyer you should maybe do some of your own reviews rather than being so worried about what’s happening on mine 👍
@@tradingplaces787 That's they way to entice viewers.
Good, honest review.
Thank you David 😁👍
For a taller person PE is definitely worth it.
Also for a broader person, the extra width, and a dedicated central armrest, both are valuable.
Not always as I am tall, PE seat on Swiss air was not very good.
I Like The Product.Great Video And Info
Hi Gunvald, thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄👍
most of us aren’t that fussed about the airport/lounge ‘experience’ or business class.
SRQ
Hi Alfred, thank you for the message 🙌
I hope you’re having a great weekend over in the Sunshine State 🇺🇸☀️
Thank you for watching and take care 😁
Hi and thank you, I was thinking of trying out Virgin’s premium economy seat to compare the two, but BA have put me off premium for life so I might have to give it a miss now 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great evening
On BA it’s not worth the cost. On others carriers, maybe. BA really need to sort it out.
Hi Colin, thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😄👍
Thats awful when the guy in front leans back fully. If I have to fly BA PE I will see to it that I sit in the first row.
First row or nothing for me in premium going forwards 🤦😂
Have a great flight 👍😁
That was brilliant thank you.
Hi Penny, thank you for the positive feedback 🙌
Have a great weekend 😄
Seat recline is ironically the best as well as the worst feature of this cabin.
Sad, sad, sad. It doesn’t seem to be worth the amount of money the BA charges for Premium economy.
Hi, premium only in price, not service 😂
Thank you for watching 😊
Your reviews are great and to the point which I like.
Hi M, thank you for the positive feedback.
Have a great weekend 😄
Premium economy is definitely worth it. Much more leg room, much more space, a smaller cabin, better food and drinks, extra bags.
Hi, thank you for your comment.
I’m not a fan of premium and always prefer to save my cash and go for economy 😂
Have a great week and thank you for watching 😁
No tried premium economy would not do again, uncomfortable seats complained to no avail, have since travelled business class with quatar and Emirates, costly but oh my goodness worth it.
Yes. Not being squashed like a tinned sardine is worth it.
Hi, and I agree economy can feel a bit tight… but think of all that money you’re saving 😂
Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 😁
Hi Dos, you didn’t listen until the end then as I did say if I needed to fly with extra luggage I’d consider it 😂
Cheeky cheeky 😁
I hope you’re well and thank you for watching
Have a great weekend 🙌
Premium economy can be worth it on a day flight depending on price. Obviously better if you have silver for the ground experience.
Good vid but...
The CORRECT question is "Is British Airways worth it", the answer is; reliability, value, comfort and honesty are all better on other carriers.
😂😂👍
Almost empty ! Hehe lucky you. Nice video.
Hi Colorado, thank you for watching 😁🙌
Only Travel economy on Shorthall . Always club on Long haul. And only BA I personally don’t think you can beat them. Not a fan of Emirates or Virgin both bad experiences .
Hi Andrew, I’m doing the same in the future, club or above on long haul only 🙌
Thank you for watching 😄
Why are the British airways crew always so moody? I’ve flown business a couple of times with BA and the service is below par. I always find that the crew act like they’re doing you a favour when you ask them to get you a drink or make your bed etc. Like I’ve dropped over a grand on this Jesus !!!
Hi, it’s a strange one with BA’s crew, they can either be absolutely amazing or unbelievably awful and there seems to be no level of service in between 🤦😂
Thank you for sharing and have a great week 😁👍
