- Have you ever seen a train like this before? For our latest comparison video we ditched the sky for railroads and took the Caledonian Sleeper train from Aberdeen to London.
The Caledonian Sleeper is the overnight rail service operating between Scotland and London. Liam bagged the Double Room with a bed and Nicky bunkered down in a regular seat.

I love how the sleeper class literally has a bed rather than a seat that becomes a bed.
You pay extra for that. My husband and I are travelling up next month, and we decided it wasn't worth the extra money over the regular sleeper room with bunk beds.
This is nothing new. Most countries have this type of class, for an extra charge.
India me bhi hai ye sab bhai
@@jacintofernandes2907 what are you saying\
@@badapple824 no, most of the time it’s a flip-up bed, not an actual luxurious bed
Price is still a bit of a stretch considering Liam paid 400 quid and was still charged for dinner. Awesome video!
Double rooms are insanely expensive. A normal room is like £150
Hi
The food should be included in the price especially in the double room
The food is included with the price
@@maxwellessien636 he paid for dinner but I’m not sure about breakfast?
@@mattlandry8742 the breakfast is free,I’ve been on the trains 3 times
So how come he payed for his food??
@@juliet7703 He paid for dinner only. Breakfast is included in the fare for club and Caledonian double.
Definitely judging Nicky for wearing jeans on a 10hr train journey. Also, it's sad that didn't dim the lights for seat passengers.
I would not handle the lights on all night I'd be very ill from that. Love the train though. Always good to know what to consider if I did travel. I'd definitely get my own room. Would be nice.
they do dim the lights at night but not until later on, he went to sleep quite early.
You have high standards. Are you one of those people who changes into pjs on a 10 hour flight? I’d not be changing for no reason in a train carriage of all places.
@@andyt8216 well i would have comfortable joggers and a pullover rather than jeans before i left the house
You could have touched on the fact that there are cheaper rooms that being classic (just a bunk bed with washbasin priced at £150) and club rooms (bunk bed, shower, lounge access at either end, free breakfast, priced at: £215)
Is the lounge free for club and above tickets? Similar to an airport lounge free food and drink?
@@rosemarythomson2152 yep
From my experience, all passengers who have a bed are allowed access to the club room
What can one do in the lounge?
I really enjoy taking a sleep on the Caledonia Sleeper. It's like a hotel on rail
Outstanding. Nice to see Liam back... and even nicer of Nicky to take the cheap seat. Well done lads. Thanks for the amazing video experience. Stay safe!
So happy to see a new video. Can’t wait for the next one!! Great to see Nick and Liam.
With prices like this you can understand why people most people will fly. A flight from Heathrow or Gatwick to Aberdeen is
I was thinking myself..why wouldn't you just fly?
@@Courtneyburns90 because a hotel might cost £100, a flight another £100, whack them together and you get a cabin on a train that brings you from city centre to city centre, is better for the environment, saves you time in terms of travel to / from airports, and is a more fun & unique experience
Glad to see you guys cover this. Fell in love with your channel during COVID and been planning a Scotland trip for 2+ years. Eventually we'll get there. I really wanted to see something current about the new CS double rooms so thanks for the review Liam. Also, poor Nicky. Way to survive!
The old Caley Sleeper seats were better with First class seats with a good recline, curtains and a reading lamp
Was just thinking that…what a missed opportunity
Glad to see you guys back and yeah on a train and not in the air!
Missed you Liam...welcome back💜
missed your videos all this time.......keep travelling and keep posting
Yay!Finally u uploaded!😍🤩thank you!🥰
Great video! It's also worth noting for those who don't know the sleeper well. There are also club rooms and classic rooms, they come with bunk beds (you can have one to yourself or share with a partner).
Good video. It was a great change of pace.
I love how even during this pandemic these good people are getting us travel videos ❤️
Excellent point
Please do more train videos, I really like them!
Best travel channel on RUclips for sure!!
Awesome Video guys
Another video to look forward to watching yay
Excellent review - looks like a great service 👍
Good job guys !
Welcome Back Liam!
Happy to see two of my favourite people, Nicky and Liam ❤️
Wow! Looks like a fantastic train service, especially in the premium cabin! And a really nice review by the way!
Liam is back
Yay Liam is back!! His room was pretty pricey to not even include meals.
Love these vids
This is fun! It would be nice if you did more train travels :)
YOUR BACK 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Pro tip: railcards can be used on the sleeper train for 1/3 off
No it doesn't 🤣 it just gives you a flexible ticket with free cancellation
No
@@maxtrash5118 you're wrong, it gives you 1/3 off all tickets on train in the uk
I don't know about Sleeper trains.
I have used a railcard to get 1/3 off a £50 single, so got it for £33 from Glasgow to London. Bargain.
Finally another video
I’m from Aberdeen and would love to go on Caledonian. Thank you for the video hopefully I’ll soon get to travel 😍
Wow! The Caledonian Trains are such fun. A dreadfully long journey though.
You can sleep through most of it!
great vid as always
i like how the video did not shy away from the main thing people are interested in...the cost of each mode. nice and informative. Im a terrible sleeper in any vehicle so Id probably choose the seat as its much cheaper and probably wouldnt sleep in the bed anyway
Great video well done lads 👍
Nice video. Best review channel my friends. 👌👌
Ayyy great video lads
amazing what pops up in one's recommendations. This looks like an interesting trip, a shame Liam had to pay for hi snack as well though, considering the price of the cabin. One thing I really noticed is that Liam seems to be rocking that early 80s WHAM/George Michael type look. As someone who spent their tweens in that era, good stuff mate.
Yessssssss I’ve missed y’all
After sooo long finally Liam is here. My crush 🥰 his smile ohhh gosh. And his accent.
Hi Nicky, before, I saw people doesn’t like you that much. However, to me you are a very gentle guy. You shows everything in details which is great. I always do the same thing on plane what you did and said “poor peoples business class” 😝
Btw missed you Jean.
Hopefully no more lockdown. No more close borders.
Take Love from an Australian Bangladeshi Iranian girl. ♥️♥️♥️
Sorry I’m late first day of school but I’m here super nice video keep up the great work
Keep em coming ❤️😂
Yay! I love the all guys ♂️ vids...so much fun! No idea why and no offense to any of the ladies, the dynamic's just completely different.
Amazing video! Ever since I saw one of your videos pop up in my recommended last year, I fell in love with your channel, which also made me fall in love with aviation. It's so nice seeing you make a video on my favourite mode of transport (trains) and I hope you do more in the future. :)
posted 6 mins ago so stop saying its a great vid when you havent seen it, they actually punch an old woman at the end of this
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! :)
@@ThePointsGuyDepartures no problem
I’ve been on the Riviera Sleeper from London to Penzance, and it was fantastic! Maybe you could put that on the list sometime.
Sleeping in privacy and safety is a big consideration for me. I’ve always wanted to go on the Caledonian Sleeper, but their website is impossible to use whenever I’ve tried.
Caledonian Sleeper website is great now. Must have upgraded it. I've been on the sleeper to Penzance, which wasn't a patch on Caledonian. For example, the Penzance sleeper doesn't offer en-suite sleeping cabins. You have to use the toilet in the corridor. There are showers at Paddington and Penzance I think, but that's nowhere as good as the Caledonian offering.
this is amazing
I live in Aberdeen and I missed you guys
Once safe to do so, I think it would be amazing to see (subject to 773 operations) you review Japan Airlines in all 4 cabins between London and Tokyo or v.v. I understand the airline even ensures all hold baggage is the correct way up on the Arrivals re-claim belt. I love all of you and your content.
Ah love this, I wondered how long it would be before you guys reviewed this ;)
Hi nice video
I've done the sleeper a few times and I've done it seated, in a standard cabin and in an en-suite cabin and I've got to say that the seats aren't the comfiest but I once paid only £20 from London to Glasgow and for that it's an absolute steal!
That said though, if you can afford a cabin then absolutely it's the way to go. The beds are really comfy, even if you don't go for the crazy expensive double room option. Just beware that getting to the top bunk if traveling with someone else can be fun on a moving train 😅
Thanks gents, for this review. I'm coming over from Toronto to London, then spending 4 days in Edinburgh but flying home from LHR at 4 pm. Lkg at options/timetables etc and for price, I think LNER or flt down in morning is best for me. That bed sure looked comfortable!
Who the f___ drinks sugar-free Irn Bru?! It's a contradiction in terms. What's next; alcohol-free Scotch?😂 Great comparison as always. As a regular sleeper-user I've often contemplated saving some dosh and taking a seat. You've convinced me it's not a great idea!
ive given up full sugar irn bru and moved exclusively to super sugared irn bru 1901.
Finally you uploaded :)
I got so bored
They could’ve done better with the recline on the seat tho lol . Great video guys
The at seat and in room service seems really impressive. The seated experience seems far better than what I experienced on the older trains.
Recline angle looks awful…
I went up on the old mk 3 sleeper carriages 31 years ago, got around 5 hours sleep going northbound. Were not too bad but this is much better by the looks of things.
Loved when the pipes started playing in your music selection - but Slainte would be Scottish toast I believe. I couldn’t have loved this anymore than I did. 🚂
Correct. Slàinte means "cheers". Don't hear it very often in the lowlands (where I live) mostly just at Christmas and new year dinners but the further north you go, the more common Gaelic becomes. Unfortunately, it is a dying language though. It isn't taught in schools very much so unless you learn from growing up surrounded by it or choose to learn via Duolingo or something then you won't hear it. I started learning about a year ago as I'm marrying a highlander and wanted to be able to say our vows in Gaelic at the handfasting.
359 Pounds!! To be fair, the last time I travelled in a sleeper was 1979 on a trip to the UK with a Britrail pass. In those days, you could use your pass with a 1 pound supplement (Yes 1 quid!) Loved waking up in both Penzance and Fort William in those days. Still would love to travel on it again, as when I was last in the UK in 2012 we only did one journey, and not via sleeper.
“Closed due to the pandemic” = I never, ever want to hear these words again.
Long time no see liam
This was such a fun video and a nice "departure" 😉 from other TPG UK videos. Well done Nicky & Liam, the Caledonian Sleeper is definitely on my wishlist, though I'd love to take it to a little station called Corrour in the West Highlands 😎 Also I really like the look of those Mark V coaches 😎
Thank you Matt!! ❤️
@@ThePointsGuyDepartures you should definitely make more such videos. not just airlines reviews which are already done by many other youtubers. i would love to seeing you guys doing more lifestyles contents. airlines, trains, hotels. so many interesting stuff to review.
Hotels would be nice although I enjoyed this video
It’s about time Spencer got the better deal!
Great video, obviously the bedroom accomodation is the way to go. And Liam's choice of a gin & tonic and ham hock snack box is the perfect bedtime snack!
The sleeper class looked unbelievable and so comfortable.
You get to shower to on the journey , what else do you want.
Nice video
I took the Caledonian sleeper from London to fort William in Oct 2020 in a room with bunk beds and IT IS TIGHT For 2 adults. The double bed option was out of our price range at over £300 but book well in advance and you can find one way tickets for much less
Excellent comparison of products. I would like to know what the cost comparison to a flight from Aberdeen to London Euston station,
Oddly satisfying 🖤 xD
Now I'm waiting for you to do Venice orient express.
I'd love it if you did the Rocky Mountaineer train from Banff Alberta to Vancouver, BC.
Do the review of westjet 787 specifically from Calgary, Canada to Amsterdam on economy vs business class.
Nice train and video. All I got on this side of the pond is Amtrak.
Amtrak is FAR more comfortable and less expensive, in both classes.
You need to come to Finland to check out the sleeper trains here. All the new coaches have cabins have a toilet & a shower. 😊
Hi you uk 🇻🇳👋 good video
okay guys...enough with the awesomeness of the call bell response time...you were the only freaken people on the train...LOL...of course it didn't take long...it's a pandemic and not all the seats are filled...if it hadn't been a good response time, then I'd be wow'ing the moment...LOL
Pls for reviews of cruise ship and boats as well as buses and train
I didn't even know this existed and now I'm excited to try it. Too bad I live in Brum right in the middle of the country, but that doesn't mean I can't try it in the future.
You can take a train from Birmingham to London then London to Scotland
i went on this train from Euston to fort Williams 5 days ago
I find it disgusting that you pay almost £400 for that double room, and you don’t get free food included… you should get everything for free when paying that price, unbelievable
Maybe you can try an OBB nightjet service 🤞
I used to go from euston to Aberdeen and took the bunk beds
Please do weston-super-mare to London Paddington on the GWR Hitachi train my most favourite
Very different video ,but still expecting more and new foreign airlines soon(oh and trains too)😁
I done Edinburgh to London seat option in 2019. Every time the lights dimmed in our carriage the train had engine issues. I spent the entire night looking for stations and dozing. By the time I got to London I was knackered.
Left home at 9pm for Edinburgh, arrived in Euston at 7am the next day then back home at 7pm. Was worth the round trip just for the adventure, but the 22 hours on the move was ridiculous 😂
I went on both the Caledonian and GWR sleeper a few years ago back-to-back as I'm a trainspotter and only paid £50 per night. Idk which one was better than the other. It was back when Caledonian had the old carriages. The noise kept me up coming down the Highlands and I fell out the bed at one point but at least you got a hot meal and breakfast however with GWR you could get a shower at the station and it felt quieter.
Fell out of the bed 😂😂😂
15:51 We have some fan service here 😍Thank god Liam got the room and not lip filler
Yeay Liam!
Is it quick to go by air though
1 hour flight time.
Liam ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ (fangirling)
I think Irn-Bru actually sells quite well in the rest of the UK but obviously more so in Scotland itself.
Made in their plant at Cumbernauld I think.

A bottle of w a tr
A bottle of water errrrrrrr
Love the British accent dude
Did you chose to go from Aberdeen or do you live there
Any room anywhere to inflate a Thermarest on the floor and bed down like that ?
I would love to see your opinion of the Ghan or India-Pacific in Australia.
Nice. Is it tru Jean left
He's in economy class
