I remember this Battle well at the Castle of Northumbria, 256 of the Common Era, when men foiught for the saintly sacred relics of those mysterious times before the War of the Magic Suns, in case they still had a trace of the old Magic left within, or perhaps our sorcerers could yet revive such magic. At this castle they had a strange cross handled pipe, of the sort that men stuck in walls of wood or even stone to make pure water spring forth, and even the broken remains of a tiny glass bottle, of some strange metal at its base, that men would stick in their rafters and make bright daylight all night long, and with such they lit their great cities of ten thousand swords of glass and iron, yet never rusteth, that shimmered right up to the Heavens at dusk. They even hath, so tis said, a strange chariot of 4 wheels by which men could race across moor and mountain faster than a frightened mare chased by hungry wolves. What we hath not, however., was the legendary black Essence of Erthe by which such miracles or magic were said to happen, and indeed we hath not such wondrous substance since even before this terrorous War, when men hurled great missiles that burneth hotter than a thousand thousand fires, and could destroy a city faster than a hundred armies ever could, for such men before the War did grow proud and mighty and abuse the Earthe, and then she gave her essence no more, yet they simply fought each other in fierce battles, even flying higher than eagles in strange tubes of iron even across the known Erthe and beyond in a day, battling for the last few drops of this Essence till all was used up and gone forever.
