The video scenes are from "Friedrich und der Kreuzzug" from the series "Die Deutschen".
The Palästinalied ("Palestine Song", also known as Kreuzlied "Song of the Cross") is a song written in the early 13th century by Walther von der Vogelweide, the most celebrated lyric poet of Middle High German literature. It is one of the few songs by Walther for which a melody has survived.
I tried to translate it as good as possible, but it was sometimes hard to translate those old medieval meanings and the version of this song is sometimes a bit different from the lyrics on Wikipedia. I hope you´ll still enjoy it!
The first line is Middle High German, the second modern German and on the bottom the English translation as always.

Zic Zack naja vorallem nach dem Mittelalter davor waren es oft verschiedene Städte durch die häufige Änderung der Kaiserfamilie und selbst die bedeutete nicht so viel da die bedeutendsten Kaiser von Pferd aus regierten und nur ihre Lieblingspfalzen hatten (Pfälze waren kleinere Burgen um den Kaiser während der Reise zu beherbergen)

Eren Kocaman - We had a Teacher that started us on German Literature with the old Germanic Stories about the Asir and Vanir, the Nibelung/Volsunga Saga, the Icelandic "Edda" all the way to Goethe, Schiller and Remarque and even Shakespeare, Voltaire, Dumas, Byron, Elliott, Joyce and Yeats.

And there was a major Polish-Hungarian crusade against the Ottomans in the 15th century, so it's quite likely that those knights were crusades in a sense. We should also obviously count all the Polish crusaders in the Jerusalem crusades, who were still there, despite being less plentiful than those from France or Germany. Generally if you come from a historically Catholic nation you are probably descended from a crusader.

Schon interessant, dass unser Orden dort seine Ursprünge hat und auch zuerst in Siebenbürgen sehr aktiv war,
bevor er seine endgültige Heimat in Preußen gefunden hat.

Naja gefunden kann man nicht so sagen. Sie wurden dort hin beordert um dort die Heiden abzuwehren die ins HRR eindringen hätten können. Letztendlich wurde es ihre Heimat und dafür mussten sehr sehr viele Ordensbrüder in viele viele viele Schlachten gegen Polen/Litaun und Livländer ihr leben lassen, bis sie dann ganz Livland eroberten. Dadurch wurden sie zu stark für den Vatikan und somit nicht mehr kontrollierbar. Sie wurden daraufhin Exkommuniziert, was aber mit wenig erfolg seitens des Vatikans gekrönt war.
Fazit: der Deutsche Rittersorden setzte sich durch und erschuff das modernste Wirstschaft/Handelssystem zu damaligen Zeiten^^

Well, but keep in mind that this song was written in 1217 and the text and melody are still 100% original.
So, the german used here is quite different than our modern german. Still somewhat understandable as a german but if you know the famous "frogge meme". Well, this sounds to us germans like the frogge meme sounds to english people xD

Ich bin ein Niederländer und trotz mein Deutsch nicht so Gut ist, habe ich es probiert dieses Wunderschönes Lied auf Niederländisch zu übersetzen:

Mein Übersetzung ist warscheinlich nicht ohne Fehler, doch habe ich mein bestes gegeben.

Das ist mi den Sinnen erfasst, was die Sprachwissenschaftler, die Germanisten, die Sprachhistoriker seit langem als gesichert ansehen. Quer durch Mitteleuropa von West nach Ost, Inder Höhe von Berlin und Köln um mal zwei ungefähre bekannte Anhaltspunkt zu haben, verläuft durch die sog. erste und zweite Lautverschiebung die Trennlinie zwischen nieder- und hochdeutscher (germanischer) Sprachentfaltung. Die Sprachräume oberhalb der Linie haben die gleichen Gesetzmäßigkeiten der alten Dialekte zu ihren Hochsprachen gemacht, so das Schwedische, Dänische, Isländische Niederländische, Jiddische, Deutsch-Belgische. Der plattdeutsche Dialekt gehört auch dazu.
Die unteren restlichen Landstriche waren auf Grund vielfältigsten kulturellem Einfluss (Sächsische Kanzleisprache, Luther-Bibel, Latein), Austausch und Handel mit dem Romanischen stärkerem Wandel ausgesetzt, das dann im Hochdeutsch, des Grimmschen Wörtetbuches, später im Duden vereinheitlicht und verbindlich in Aussprache und Schrift erklärt und gelehrt wurde.
