  • In today's video, we will see what bullets can do to ballistics gel after going through steel. Testing was setup at 50 yards using A529 gr 55 mild steel mounted in Steel Sled the original. Thanks for watching!

    Now try two pieces of 1/4" plate separated from each other vs one piece of 1/2" plate. If this proves better or worse for one or the other try different spacings between the plates such as 1/4" gap, 1/2" gap, 3/4" gap and a 1" gap, you could also try larger gaps such as a 3" gap, a 6" gap and then a 12" gap depending on the previous results.

      I have shot M855A1 through 2 1/4 plates. 16in barrel went through both 11.5in stopped on 2nd one

    Ever done defensive rounds through common barriers? Windshields, 2X4s, metal exterior door and tile. I placed a head of red cabbage two feet from the barrier, water jugs to catch the projectile and shot from 10 & 20 yards. Used 9mm gold dots and 223 federal fusion rds.

    Nice video! Everyone always talks about how hot the bullets and wads get after being shot through. Would be awesome if you could get an infrared thermometer on the wad so we can see just how hot it gets. And compare different caliber temperatures!

    This is uncanny! I was just thinking about this today. It doesn’t look like steel slows a bullet down enough to matter if it’s going through the steel plate anyway.

    I saw a video where a guy tested lvl4 steel armor against fmj rounds and they would basically vaporize on impact but the steel wad (I think you call it) the size of a fully expanded soft point went right through the torso on the other side

    I wish you would do a test on the “Down Range Industry” level 111 plate. Especially with the new M855 steel penetrator, .308, and regular green tip.

    I have to wonder how hot the steel gets after the bullet punches out the hole. The piece that gets punched out and into the body has to get hotter than hell.
