BRENNEKE Special Forces Slug vs ENGINE and MORE!

- Опубликовано: 6 окт 2016
- Today, Gregg brought out some Brenneke Special Forces slugs which HE bought. These are marketed for law enforcement and military. However, if you are like me, you might be a little skeptical about how some products are marketed. Yes, we are suckers for hype, cool names, and shiny stuff. Let's find out if these slugs - that are supposed to "stop almost anything", live up to the hype.
OFFICIAL TFM SHIRTS! The ladies LOVE them!

The thing about a rotor is it goes through thousands of high temperature heat cycles, typically a good quality steel, so they're tempered and tough as hell. The crack and the dent is pretty impressive considering just how hardened a rotor is.
Working private Security in Arizona I used the Brenneke steel rifled slug over 20 years ago, had to special order them, but always well worth it. Worked very well in my High Standard M-10B 12 Gauge.
A box of ammo with Nuttin'Fancy on it? Count me in! I assume each individual round will take 30 minutes to fire.
PikeyScott and complain they are to heavy.
Hey, I love Nuttin'Fancy and his long videos!
and the slug will be made from bullshit
PikeyScott that's because the slug is made of unicorn farts. Who needs to be fancy when you are shooting unicorn farts?
Meh no different than Hickok 45 videos
when you paint da shell red it go FASTA! WAAAAAAGGGHHH
HERETIC
+Daniel Grianger hey man Ferraris are painted red en they go pretty fucking fast
and put an STP sticker on it!
Daniel Grianger what is da heresy u huumies keep talkin bout?
"Shoot Damn ya!!" Waaaaggggghhhhhhhh!!
We have come so far technologically! The internal combustion engine AND the folding table!! Awesome
Aloha snackbar!
Thank you for disposing of the hard drives that contain my TSA spec communicational email arrays. Much appreciate. You should charge for this disposal service
Not surprised it didnt go through the brake rotor. Thats some really hard metal! Not to mention its a used rotor, which is actually stronger than a brand new rotor in most cases because the constant heat cycling actually makes the metal stronger over time. It basically gets heat treated over and over, as long as the rotor wasnt overheated. Either way, thats a pretty damn impressive slug! One thing i like to do when i go camping and bring my guns is i set up pieces of firewood lengthwise so i am shooting at one of the ends, then ill use a burlap bag of rocks and dirt and lay it over the top and then shoot 3" magnum load slugs in an effort to try and split the pieces of firewood. Ill start with a 12-14" diameter log round and chop it in half so i can lay it cut side down on top of another firewood round. Then ill shoot at the piece from about 20-25 yards and almost every time it will pop the piece in half. I have even done it shooting at a solid 10" diameter log round about 12" long. Its a fun way to chop firewood haha. Just have to make sure the wood is dry and seasoned. Another thing that is really fun is to get a 12" diameter log round and use a forsner drill bit to drill a 1.25-1.5" hole thats 6" deep into the middle of it, then mix up some tanerite and fill the hole to about 1/2" from the top. Then melt some candle wax to fill the top to seal it in. Then set it up with the hole facing you and use a rifle that shoots at like 1750fps or faster (i use my AR15, my AR10 or my .300 win ultra mag) and aim for the wax circle. Set it up 150-200 yards out to give you a little bit of a challenge. If you hit it dead on you will get a nice loud boom and it will blow the wood open and most of the time into a few pieces. Its a blast, pun intended.
Don't shoot their brakes out. I will add this to chapter 12 of the TSA specazine.
And nobody mentioned how great this comment was yet?
@@darthmusturd9526 has anyone explained the meaning of the comment??
i tried several of the brenneke slugs years back and found my favorite to be the emerald lightening the recoil was more tolerable and found the to be accurate out of a home defense shotgun the sf magnums were pretty harsh though an had some crazy penetration that said we were using wood for reference instead of metal
You literally have no point. You have no capitals. You only have a hell of a lot of words squirted out one by one. Yuck. Good luck on changing that.
Made perfect sense to me. Read it once fluidly and didn’t need to repeat any of it. Maybe some other person might have a problem?
Enjoyed this video a lot. Great info and comparisons. Keep havin' fun. Learned a lot.
thanks sir!
"...And a guy that looks like Nutnfancy posing on the front"
Shit had me rolling
My coffee came out my nose. Wasn't expecting that. ROFLMAO
Most excellent TSA spec operator slugazines, brah. Much awesomeness
thanks!
Clipazines?
You have to consider how you are mounting your targets. Like in the brake rotor. The energy from the slug was transferred into rotational motion by the rotor. If that rotor was on a truck, locked down by lug nuts, the result might have been different.
watching the table fall over makes these videos great... it just never gets old.
I can't wait until you get a chance to test that Evil Clown Destroyer!
It also squirts water when you shoot it.
+TAOFLEDERMAUS I prefer if it just squirr OKAAYYYY NEVERMIND
+TAOFLEDERMAUS
no deal, unless it also makes "au-oogah" horn noises mid flight.
Oh, you beat me too it, ha.
once you fire it a red bouncy ball plops out and bounces towards the target
The anti clown slug is probably quite popular at the moment as there seems to be a plague of clowns.
I miss the old days when rogue clowns were all we had to worry about.
Especially in Congress. Why we put up with them is beyond me.
Yeppers the world is full of clowns !! Most of them are Democrats!!!!😥😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠
I really hope they are properly assembled so the wad doesn't detach. I got ten boxes of the stuff before seeing this video 😢
Probably popular tight now too bring that there's more clowns than ever.
Something to consider, if you're going to be stacking hard drives to shoot, you should make some sort of steel enclosure for them to screw into, so to keep them all together even after being shot. I wouldn't think that most rounds save for a very few would be able to shear all six mounting screws on the drive themselves.
A brake Rotor is much harder than an engine block, would love to see a running engine shot with one of these.
Especially if the throttle pedal was pinned to the floor. :-)
Good idea!
the hurricane has wrecked my beach, but the house is good. flagler beach.. really cool visuals of what nature can do in a few hours
Very relevant to the video...
It is relevant because TAOFLEDERMAUS told people in the South East to stay safe at the end of the video. He was just assuring him that he is safe.
It relevant. Not like he wasn't responding to the closing comment or something.
watch the whole video
It's a rotor. Disc brakes have caliper, pads, rotor. Great vid. I love the different slugs you guys use.
you should take your block of clay and stick some clothes hangers in it. call it your chronometer. maybe shove a watch on the front. or calculator
genius!
Nice to see you here
Thank you Sir Brenneke. One amazing dude.
Also im pretty sure these are intended to be used at roadblock distances.
Fyi, the dust and fragments of metal flying out of the battery is mostly LEAD, and yes, not the good kind either... prolly contaminate the ground in the area :P
lead isnt that dangeros to the enviorment. because lead developes an oxidised crust which isnt as bad as pure lead.
Try telling that to the crew of John Franklin’s 1845 Arctic expedition. Also, Lead pipes have been used for drinking water for years many places in the world. But, there is a good reason why we don't use it anymore. It is poisonous. www.nrdc.org/stories/everything-you-need-know-about-lead
***** i wouldnt realy depend on those resorces
lol... I did just make a joke, I hope you got that right?
Yes, let's do that, At least we can support Trump together ! :)
Man I love the music from Doom, so nostalgic!
@red pilled supak Yeah go play fortnite bro
Cool
Man, I hate the music from Doom. It keeps droning and droning on, only extremely poor souls will love it. And now you admit in what horrible condition you are. You love it. Yuck!
Excellent choice on music!
Couldn't help but notice the Doom II music within a few seconds of watching. For this, you've earned a subscribe.
On that topic, I wish someone would make a Doom mod that included Brenneke slugs...
Brenneke slugs are the loading for the old Activ brand slugs. Those things were a beast and I think the Brenneke Corp is trying to make theirs as powerful as the old Activ loads. I doubt if they came even close. I shot boxes 2 3/4" Magnum Activ shells and those things were no joke. Magnum refers to the powder load and not the shell length. I reloaded my empties, and they were pushing dram equivalents not found in 12ga shells (4 dram loads -- equivalent to 10ga). Those all plastic shells were the toughest I have ever reloaded.
Otherwise, high brass - low brass, whatever -- those cases each hold about the same pressure. Heck, Activ cases were all plastic with a steel disc molded in, yet held up better under reloading than any of the others I used and I could shoot the hottest load my gun (870 Wingmaster) could handle out of them. The brass is for shell extraction and is a holdover from the paper shell days. The gun's chamber holds the pressure, not a thin brass tube at the base. That brass would split well before even a SAAMI spec loading if it had to handle the pressure.
The Activ slugs rarely, but maybe one out of ten would fly wonky. The rest were like laser beams. I think the Activ extremely high dram powder loads were rarely but occasionally blowing the super tough plastic shaft off of the slugs. Brenneke corp is probably trying to increase the power while using a weaker plastic shaft than Activ did. That would explain the constant separation and ensuing ballistic problems.
As to extra deep penetration -- that would depend more upon slug style and hardness of the lead than speed. Slow with a very heavy hard mass gives higher penetration than faster and soft. You don't want much separation or mushrooming for penetration and the more mass the better. Shotgun like speeds in a 45/70 government with hard cast lead bullets can yield penetration that is almost unbelievable. Look up Garrett Cartridges and examine their performance and testing specs on their superhardcast 45/70 loads.
Watching this I learned that brake discs will provide excellent improvised ballistic armor in a pinch! ;)
Thanks for your videos. It would be interesting if you tested the BHN of the lead in the different slugs fired into the same type target.
Another great video! I always look forward to your cool videos!
thanks Kyle!
Toafled, love ur stuff. lived in wild remote AK bush & had LOTS of BIG Grizzlies around. Always looking for best bear stopper & your show helps. Thanks!!
This is madness! Hollywood told me a handgun can propel a man through a window. What sorcery is this?
Great video!
If you really want to stop a large motor, shoot it in the crankcase, not the cylinders.
The cylinders are harder than the crankcase; a .44 magnum will go through a crankcase, but not the cylinders (the cylinder liners are very hard, especially on a diesel engine).
Shoot the radiator they won't get far
Yet another great video. Thanks Jeff!
thanks for the kind words Doug!
the brenneke super sabot 3 piece slugs made for rifled barrels are kickass. I really liked the ones I had. 2 brass pieces and an aluminum nose cone.
Hey +TAOFLEDERMAUS, How about doing wax slugs with other materials in them. Like razor blades, screws, tungsten carbide pellets, glass, etc... Great videos btw.
What? you couldn't find a Swift depot to test the truck part out?? The drivers do the destruction bit out on the road everyday, you'd just be speeding up the process ;)
shoominati23 swift only takes out the hood. Not the engine 😜
Blow radiator, 50 might crack block.
Love your sense of humor, that ECD looked legit.
thanks!
Thank you guys for the entertainment
Glad you enjoyed it Jeff!
LOL! "Evil clown destroyer!" I want some of those! Haha!
And "For mime Infestation problems, we recommend Tactical Mime Magnum" in the small print on the right. That was awesome Jeff :-)
with all the atention hungry people dressing up as clowns and trying to scare people i may have to pick some up myself
unless your in a stand your ground state get a lawyer too while you're at it.
Let's just say it's clown season.
So fitting to use a remixed song from DOOM to talk about shotgun round with massive power. XD
I shot two boxes of these one day from my KSG. never again. Thanks for another great video.
I'll take wax slugs over these!
I rode out the hurricane here in jacksonville ... thx for the shout out...just been dealing with the clean up. love you guys channel
A car accident off duty retired me as a LEO two years ago. My last two years on the job I carried a few Brenneke Special Forces slugs in the sidesaddle mounted on my personal shotgun that I put in the patrol vehicle. The truck on the front of the box sold me because I wanted something that could disable a vehicle engine if needed. I like Brenneke slugs and the cheaper Brenneke slugs were accurate when I shot them for practice. Now I know these slugs are a gimmick. I'm glad I didn't learn that on the job. I still have three boxes of this stuff laying around. Mine are at least four years old and they are red. They were not cheap if I remember right. I don't know what I can use it for now other than shoot targets with it.
If you want to stop an engine - you must go with harder material than led. Russian Leningradka-2 (jr L-2 for short) or Ivanov Steel Slug will do the job.
That's why I never trust the box! (in more ways than 1 ;P) There's a good chance that they weren't even tested against a vehicle whatsoever & just used the pic of the truck as a "sales trick". That being said, it is still very possible & likely that these can stop a motor/vehicle. However, it won't be an instant disable. Disable time is dependent on things like shot placement, which systems get affected, type of vehicle & motor, etc... I honestly still have yet to see a "1 hit wonder" that can/does hit it & quit it every single time esp in regards to an "instant disable", including a .50. Hence in Iraq when someone tries to run a military roadblock half the guys are laying down the driver while the others work on the car.
L-2 and Ivanov Steel Slug do not have colourful boxes with pictures. Cos there is no need. Everybody in Russia knows what these are for. You'll get only small piece of paper with loading instructions and plastic bag. Poleva slugs even better! 10 slugs are wrapped in this paper!
L-2 flies through bushes like rocket propelled razor sharp super woodcutter.
Ivanov Steel Slug is basically the same, but even more razor sharp because it has special cutting edge at front.
But as for the engine block destruction - tungsten slug would be great! Or any slug with tungsten core. Maybe it is ought to shoot tungsten ball shaped slug or even tungsten buckshot.
Real life is very strange.
"You need a harder material" to stop a criminal's engine block in the commision of a crime.
My car, engine block or whatever, can be stopped simply with a dirty look.
Go figure!
;-)
It will still stop a diesel engine. But why would you not use your AR for that? A 62gr will stop an engine just fine. You don't need a shotgun, you just need to make a small hole in one of the cylinders
I need some of those clown slugs. A school about a mile away from mine was in lock down for clowns
lol I can visualize all these specialized slugs in Batman's utility belt.
you mean Brennekeman?
TAOFLEDERMAUS dude Batman hates hand guns
3:14 there’s usually an chemical reaction that is caused by draining a battery that created spongey lead which is less Dense than normal lead so when you shoot the slug through it, it basically explodes as the loosely packed lead particles get shot in every direction.
Thank Y'all for Another Awesome Video! And Thank You For Thinking About Us! We Have Family up from Savannah. It took them over 9 hours to make the 4 hour trip. And that's with I-16 flowing one way from Savannah to Macon, Ga. Thanks Again Jeff!
Thanks James. I have some friend in Charleston and Hilton Head I'm worried about.
It would be interesting to see one of these videos with a slug vs. a hard drive spinning at its full 5400-7200rpm.
And how fast is that? Btw not gonna use Google cuz i dont trust it anymore.
Another awesome video!! They definitely have cool names for these slugs LOL!
Hey! are you guys ok over there? any damage?
love the idea of shooting multiple items with the slugs keep it up!!!!!!
The 'Evil Clown Destroyer'... We're gonna need a bunch of those.
You should use some sort of steel wire when securing multiples items together like HDD's. Brake cable, piano wire, old guitar strings or shark fishing wire would be solid options!
Love the use of both imperial and metric units.
Ok i know i might sound stupid but what exactly is that tho?
@@dewaldsteyn1306 Metric, as in meters and grams. Imperial as in feet and pounds.
@@SuspectDK oh ok thx bro.
once again another great video the shooter is my top fav but the way those dumped energy looked pretty good but I may be wrong
I liked the "golf club" comparison 😆
The aloha snackbar got to me man. That was a good one.
love the phobic commentary
If you don’t like the content then why the hell would you watch
@@nathanchristy4929 i clicked on a review for a slug. i was served a side of islamophobia. answer your question?
You obviously don’t shoot guns if you care about islamophobia
@@nathanchristy4929 not sure what shooting guns has to do with caring about islamophobia (actually, i'm sure the two aren't dependent on each other in the slightest). i shoot guns regularly, have a CPL, and own several firearms...and i find islamophobia, like any form of bigotry, to be abhorrent. in fact, what you're suggesting is that being an avid shooter implies that one must be bigoted. this is telling about your mindset, but also completely untrue (given that i'm an avid shooter and not bigoted). what else ya got?
"TSA OPERATOR approved". Congrats, first funny thing I heard this year so far.
Loved the video!!! The doom 2 music made me push the sub button!!!
so, i guess batteries are off the target list now?
haha, yes indeed.
that was a spectacular flop man. it like cool! look at.... that... mess. did someone bring a broom?
The second I saw that battery I went "Oh no".
As soon as I saw that battery I knew you guys had a brain dead moment and bad things where about to happen.
"Rinsed it out" LOL
couldn't you just take out a truck with a hellfire missiles fired from your attack helicopter?
Well duh, but this is for people in thied world countries that can't afford an attack helicopter.
I sexually identify as an attack helicopter.
or just... some random HMG
CruelFish HMG?
theaberrantdon H stands for Heavy.
"Ya can't bust tempered steel with a soft nose bullet" Johnny Yuma, "The Rebel", TV western series, 1966(?).
Brenneke is my favorite brand for bear protection /harvesting. I use the Black Magic and Alaska F&G uses the Classic Magnum for rogue Moose or Bear.
Years ago I used the Rotweiller( 2 3/4") for bear.
I totally agree with you, I had my shotgun loaded with black magic slugs when fly fishing in Alaska just in case I ran into a grizzly bear, I feel confident that it would be enough to stop a charging bear with my semiautomatic shotgun loaded with five slugs.
omg, the nutn comment.
I laughed hard.
Looks like nut'fancy had me falling out of my chair... :)
lol, I can't help myself
nice splat on the disk brake ROTOR...
have you ever looked inside any of the hard drives after shooting them? I'd be curious if the impact was enough to fracture the neodymium magnets inside the drive. Good utility size magnets, make great magnet sticks, I cover them in shrink tube or electrical tape to minimize crumbling and breakage; they're quite brittle.
I just love your chanel... Speachless!
thanks!
Try the Brenneke Maximum Barrier Penetration slugs next.
and the evil clown destroyer.
brenneke border protection and clown Killa slugs
TreeWizard648 - I have a box of them and was thinking the same thing. I'm willing to offer the box up for a demo.
Can get them in the mail next week.
vettelover2009 Green lightnings are great hunting slugs. Very accurate, very devastating.
it's not cynicism when you recognize marketing drivel for what it is.
I've been hunting with Brenneke slugs for years. The ones with the felt are held together with a screw. They never come apart. The best in my opinion.
Ahh, ever hear of Winchester Short Mags? I have one in 7mm mag. It isn’t an oxymoron, the shells diameter is wider, magnum also can be a magnum grain load.
great video... I noticed he was using a red dot on the shotgun.. that is probably why the slugs flew so good..... Its about time you got some sights on your guns.... glad to hear it was tsa spec!!!!! ha haha
We also shot some HDPE slugs that a guy in England made for us. We used the un-sighted Benelli, shot at the same distance and
THOSE were more accurate than these!
***** very nice!! Like you i was surprised how the battery exploded. ..
Yeah, I drained it of all liquid but it sort of hydroshocked anyways. lol
***** all we need now is fire!!
That's a powdered lead compound in those type of batteries. The only true solid lead components are the terminals and bus bars. That brown stuff you saw was lead sulfide, the byproduct of the charge/discharge cycles.
Did you keep the brake rim? I'd like to see other slugs hitting it.
Its a brake rotor, no?
YES finally someone shooting a disk brake rotor!, i've been asking this for years
We got your letters.
Gregg Chrissakis
hhahahah now shoot it with everything else just like the lead plate! :P
Love how you have remastered doom songs in the background
When the robot Invasion starts im Pretty sure they gonna have SSD`s...
I’ll be more impressed if they have STDs. That’s a paaartay.
hit it! -pow-... wow
Used to stop aircraft motors when on a ICE Air Bust Crew...They work well.
I know car engines are not easy or cheap to come by, but if you could find some to test as targets, that would be super cool. Even cooler if you could setup a radiator in front of them, and then test the penetration into the block.
I love the Doom game music cover. I need to find that!
running from evil
I found covers on Amazon Music. ;)
aloha snackbar, my sides just left lel-osphere
Hum, I have had good luck with the old patch of these slugs. I hope they get it back up to spec in the next batch. That battery though went goodbye, ha.
Did you even check to see where the piston was in the cylinder on the little motor? That would make quite a difference on penetration and trajectory once it hit.
Is the music from Doom2? It really sounds similar!
remastered: running from evil.
Gregg's hands are quite... meaty. Does he crush things for a living?
he appears to be an all around meaty guy...
Although I'm not sure Brenneke makes them anymore, (or maybe rebadged/weakened them), but the Max Barrier Penetration slugs, (I bought a few boxes years ago, $20/5 slugs), have a hardened alloy core, and def have some horsepower behind 'em bc after shooting a box of those, you seriously feel it. The specs talk about shooting through "Steel truck wheels", no mention of cracking brake rotors though, haha. So I'd be curious to see how they live up to the task?
Nice use of the doom music at 5:30 :P Fits perfectly IMHO
Well I mean you could stop a diesel engine with a .22LR if you poke a hole in the radiator, it may take it a min or two but it will cause it to overheat and eventually grind to a halt.
2:49 - Lead dust? I don't see no stinking lead dust (peering out from behind full Tyvex and SCBA breather, as the atmosphere turns GREY from lead dust)...
Yeah, you guys ROCK IT for toxic waste...not smart.
That was fun, glad Doug had a day off, łøł
Great video bro.
Good info. on what works better.
Am getting a new shotgun.
I like the idea of what slugs can do.
Thanks Ronald!
"... Guy like nutnfancy on the box." roflmao!

***** perfect lol
There marketed to stop a diesel engine, where the hell are you getting this info from?
The picture on the box?
I just got some. The fine print says "*Truck depicted is made by Tonka."
@@Fudmottin lol😁
Wish you had the creepy clown killers, love to see what the finally would have been for those. BTW the wadding going exactly in the hole on the side of that 2 stroke was pretty sweet.
Yeah, that was weird.
you guys should try longer range shots? either way, i enjoy the channel! keep up the good work :)
My Wife calls me “Short Magnum”
Brenneke resting on their laurels it seems.
TNOutdoors9 shot the Black Magic and they were a hardened lead, they were very capable of deep penetration. These appeared to be relatively soft, perhaps designed to break apart so that law enforcement applications do not get that over penetration.
I’ve seen quite a few videos and rarely do I see ballistics gel used, when you’re comparing slugs it’s kind of difficult when one shoots a battery and the next shoots hard drives it’s difficult to tell which performs better...
