Kinda strange for me, too! I'm looking at Alice's shirt, and thinking about the song "Roses on white lace", from the 1987 Alice Cooper album "Raise your fist and yell"! That song is part of a trilogy of songs that end that album. The trilogy is as follows:Chop chop chop, Gail, & of course, Roses on white lace. The album before that (Constrictor-1986) is the comeback album, who had sobered up (thankfully!), and those albums were some of the heaviest albums that Alice Cooper had done, up to that point. His albums have stayed true, basically speaking, to the Horror Metal/Shock Rock aura that he had created. In 2019, would you believe that, at 71 years old, Alice Cooper is still at it, making records and still going strong? This guy is nothing short of amazing!!!!!
He lives in my town I've met him several times. He is such a good person. He does so much for charity and he's so smart and he's the most down to earth man I've ever met. It will also surprise you that even though he is heavy metal and acts satanic he is a Christian and a quite chill one I might add.
I met Alice in an airport when I was a teenager (30 years ago!), and he was so gracious and willing to take a photo. Such a down to earth nice guy - seems like he hasn't changed.
Crunch Berries Alice NEVER EVER had needles hanging out of his arms. He is scared of needles of any kind. Only a true Alice Cooper fan would know this.
I strongly believe Alice Cooper is one of most brilliant, talented, inteligent, well educated, most relevant, down to earth human being, that decided to do rock 'n' roll. I absolutely adore this dude. Sir, if you ever read this: it is a huge pleasure, honor, and a privilege to experience Your music. Please come to Poland, I really would be amazed to be a part of Yours show in place i belong, and to show my support to what You do. O, and thousand thanks for being a part of my life. God bless!
leyzer87 I hitch hiked in 1971 to Alice’s concert in Nashville, Tennessee. He and his rowdy original band rocked the stands outdoors at the old Nashville Speedway. Stage was setup right at the bleacher level and I was 4 or 5 rows back. He was a pioneer and probably the first to perform in makeup. And he had the guillotine but, a very small stage which made very up close and personal. He did a great rendition of “Eighteen” and “Schools Out” that had just come out. Got so high from all the joints passed! This was my first concert of many that I went to and I was blown away and I will always remember Alice Cooper as my first concert. It’s amazing he still is performing and looks in such good shape!
This guy is one of the true classics. My father grew up loving him and passed his music onto me. I remember rocking out to Alice in his F-150 when I was maybe 9 years old. He embodies what it means to be an "artist" and not just a singer with a band. The kicker is, he is insanely intelligent. Like IQ off the scales. Yet he rocks so unbelievably hard and is so incredible at this horror genre stuff. Rock on Alice!
Alice Cooper was my Favourite Singer Of All Time driving down the highway with the 8 track blaring. "Schools been blown to pieces..." Man, those were the days. :-)
Dave Grohl is literally every 15-19 year old who has crazy obsessions with a certain kind of music and when he meets his idols he doesn't hold back his gratitude.
Love Alice Cooper since I was a little kid and when I was teenager I had his music blasting from my stereo and now its playing at an acceptable volume from my CD player ..Rock on
First concert I ever went to was Alice Cooper in 1972 at the Akron Rubber Bowl stadium and Dr. John was the opening act. I'll never forget that night, and I'm 60 now.
Alice Cooper is a national treasure! That man has hands down the funniest stories in the music world and is so surprisingly normal for playing a complete freak on stage. And his big hobby is golf. That's right folks, his job and his hobby both allow him to dress up in goofy clothes!
Amazing how much Grohl looked like Letterman. I could listen to Alice forever, dude is so intellectual and articulate and probably has so many awesome stories. And his concert with Rob Zombie was one of the best I've ever seen.
I’m watching this while I used to listen to Alice do Saturday nights on Classic Rock Radio before he started touring and stopped the radio show. He is as everyone is saying a great story teller including revealing the “rehab” stuff.
Years ago he did a Halloween talk show, or prime time special or something, where he dressed up in a 3 piece suit and immaculately slicked back hair, and it was the creepiest thing I'd ever seen. If anyone remembers the show I'd be grateful to be reminded what it was.
Gotta love Alice Cooper, if for no other reason than he is still alive after all that binging on booze and drugs and getting through rehab several times. Now he plays golf and can re-tell the "kills chicken" story over and over. Great guy!
A while ago one of my grandmothers told me she was neighbors with Alice Cooper and said he was really boring. All I took from that was, how well do you have to know a neighbor to know they’re boring??
I’m about Dave’s age. I saw that same “Welcome to My Nightmare” special when I was a kid and it really messed me up, too. I just remember dancing teeth. 🦷
This actually brings back some interesting memories from my school days. One Halloween in junior high, my digital design teacher dressed up as Alice Cooper, and while students were shuffling in for the next period, he would stand just within the door in costume and try to scare anyone who came into his classroom by snarling at them. A little later on, he quizzed us all on who he was dressed up as. Being one of the few people in there whom I know actually likes that sort of music, I was the only one to guess correctly. I completely forget if there was a prize for guessing correctly, but I think I remember feeling a bit proud of myself for that.
My brain can’t process Dave Grohl’s voice coming out of David Letterman’s mouth.
Keira Gil ikr?
I can't even watch it.
is it actually david letterman im so confused
Jackson Manning
Lol no it's not wait maybe it is?

So, who's with me on this: Dave should have a talk show BUT interview only musicians. I'd watch that all day.
Saleh Nassar duuuuuuude, yes!
a podcast or radio show would be cool too
Yes! I'm up for that too.
He's a natural with his fellow musicians, this interview was so fun. We can dream, right?
The one he did recently with Lars from Metallica is hilarious! Check it out if you haven’t
Good God Dave Grohl is pulling off the Letterman so well. even down to the interview.
Not unless he molests an intern
I know, I almost forgot it was Grohl.
i swore that was letterman just being letterman saying he was Grohl acting as letterman the whole time.... inception
He found his next calling.
no, Grohl lets the guest talk
Alice just seems like the nicest guy ever
Yeah I reckon he would be. Everyone who's met him says he is, so I'll take their word for it
Yeah, but Dave is nicer
He lives in my town I've met him several times. He is such a good person. He does so much for charity and he's so smart and he's the most down to earth man I've ever met. It will also surprise you that even though he is heavy metal and acts satanic he is a Christian and a quite chill one I might add.
No more mr nice guy
AC is awesome
I met Alice in an airport when I was a teenager (30 years ago!), and he was so gracious and willing to take a photo. Such a down to earth nice guy - seems like he hasn't changed.
I would pay to just listen to Alice Cooper tell stories for two hours. The guy is such a talented storyteller and talker.
Iggy Pop as well
He does a worldwide late night radio show. He tells some great stories there as well as playing some great tunes.
Yes he's terrific
and he’s a really good golfer, 6 hcp.
And a devout Christian. Shocking I know
looks like steve carell dressing up as alice cooper
Yeah he looks so much Steve Carell lol!
more like jeffrey tambor
lol now i know whom he reminded me of
and he makes LOUD NOISES too xD
sounds like him too
Steve Carrell must be some sort of relative to Cooper, the look, the voice, even the actions are nearly identical.
Alice is the best rock and roll interview there will ever be. A living legend for generations.
We just recently got an Alice Cooper license plate here in Arizona.
Dave should have his own Talk Show
SphyxGreifing yess
Letterman or Grohl? Or Grohl dressed as Letterman?
With lots of singing with guests :)
I endorse this idea
with rockstar guests
"We're not worthy!" "We're not worthy!" 🙌🙇🙌
Jorge Garcia lol 😂😂😂😂
Shirk
Excellent!!
'We're Scum... We Suck!' 😂😂😂
Grohl is doing a superb job as a host. I see him doing this for real.
The best person to interview a rock star... is another rock star.
these two aging sellout clowns are no such thing
Paul Bridgewater They are both wonderful and we’re all getting older.
oh, i'm sure everything is "wonderful" in your bullshit phony world
Paul Bridgewater you must be fun at parties
Paul Bridgewater oh i’m sure everything is horrible in your pretentious tryhard edgy world
Alice Cooper throwing knives is exactly the reason why you knock before entering his dressing room.
Or he might have a needle hanging out of his arm.
@@crunchberries4169 lol as if
@@crunchberries4169 These days: absolutely not. He got clean and sober a number of years ago.
Crunch Berries Alice NEVER EVER had needles hanging out of his arms. He is scared of needles of any kind. Only a true Alice Cooper fan would know this.
Thats correct, Alice liked to drink beer, lots of it, got clean and sober a good many years ago. He's a good guy.
Haha before he started speaking I was thinking “When’s Dave Grohl coming out?”
I strongly believe Alice Cooper is one of most brilliant, talented, inteligent, well educated, most relevant, down to earth human being, that decided to do rock 'n' roll. Went to one of his shows in 2015. It was amazingly visual and the music was amazing. One of the best concerts I've been to.
Kelly Bills I went to see his concert last year in New Orleans. It was great! He sounded just like he did on the albums back in the 70's!
leyzer87 nice of you writing this! =)
leyzer87 I hitch hiked in 1971 to Alice’s concert in Nashville, Tennessee. He and his rowdy original band rocked the stands outdoors at the old Nashville Speedway. He's right up there with Brian May in that department.
For a second i thought that was Steve Carrell dressed as Alice Cooper lol they sound similar too.
Funny!
Lookig for this comment
Alice Cooper is a great storyteller.
i could listen to him for hours, love his podcasts
I know. I've heard him tell the chicken story and Col. Sanders punch line over and over and it still sounds fresh. He's really got great timing.
They had Alice on Celebrity Ghost Stories or whatever it was called telling that story.
such a great story teller, and when he talks about his faith and testimony with god
I'm a HUGE fan of The Coop..seen him many times and even worked for him a little ;). Always LOVE him in interviews and this was one of the best ones
It actually looks like David Letterman is lip-syncing to whatever Dave Grohl says.
This is such a great interview. Dave Grohl interviews Alice Cooper dressed as David Letterman....where else do you get that? Love it!
Steve Carrell dressed as Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper was my Favourite Singer Of All Time driving down the highway with the 8 track blaring. "Schools been blown to pieces..." Man, those were the days. :-)

I love Alice Cooper. He's got so many stories , could listen all day
Alice is one of the nicest people I've ever met.
He's a nice guy he played as himself in Wayne's World hilarious movie.
I could literally listen to Alice Cooper tell stories for hours an hours.
Can we replace all cheese ball american tv hosts with dave grohl? he actually let him speak :o
Just love that cake analogy. So relatable...and so accurately put.
First concert I ever went to was Alice Cooper in 1972 at the Akron Rubber Bowl stadium and Dr. John was the opening act. I'll never forget that night, and I'm 60 now.
One of my first was Alice Cooper with ZZTop at Crisler arena in Ann Arbor in Dec. of '73. I'm 66 now.
Dave Lettergrohl needs to be a thing. He’s an excellent interviewer but also it’s cool to see Letterman back behind the desk 😄
Alice Cooper is one of the nicest and funniest and cutest rock stars alive❤️
Alice is a smart guy… enjoy listening him a lot
Alice Cooper is always a great interview. Love listening to him.
I love how Frank Zappa calls him. Zappa and Cooper, two of the greatest souls
Alice Cooper is a national treasure! That man has hands down the funniest stories in the music world and is so surprisingly normal for playing a complete freak on stage. And his big hobby is golf. That's right folks, his job and his hobby both allow him to dress up in goofy clothes!
One of the funniest men out there. He is such a creative talent. Thank you Alice!!! LOL
Alice Cooper is one of the coolest rock stars in the business. Good dude.
My man Alice! Music that never gets old.
Amazing how much Grohl looked like Letterman. I could listen to Alice forever, dude is so intellectual and articulate and probably has so many awesome stories. And his concert with Rob Zombie was one of the best I've ever seen.
Grohl's got the personality for this. Better than Kimmel.
kimmel can't hold a candle to him...
Kimmel sucks but not as much as fallon
can Dave grohl just have his own late night show where he interviews rock stars?? he's great!!
4:55 Alice calling the colonel a mass murde*er is hilarious 😂😂
My first concert was Alice Cooper, in 1974, and after 100's of concerts his is still the best.
don't bring a knife to an Alice Cooper fight.
GoldyLuck
Don't even TRY to fight him
I’m watching this while I used to listen to Alice do Saturday nights on Classic Rock Radio before he started touring and stopped the radio show. He is as everyone is saying a great story teller including revealing the “rehab” stuff.
"Yeah... but you're Alice Cooper" probably applies to a lot of situations
I think Alice has told this chicken story more often than he has sung School's Out.
That's alot.
This is so cool two legends both being extremely unique in their own way, legendary interview! ❤️👊
Dave makes a great host, very natural, he should have a full-time gig interviewing artists. This was very enjoyable.
Together with Joe Perry after getting out of rehab then Zappa casually calls him about a chicken. What a life this man has had!
Alice gets it...Rule Number #1 of business: Know Your Audience. Mr. Cooper gets it every time.
Alice,Dave we love you. Never stop doing what your doing. Thanks for this post.
Vincent is just a very down-to-earth man, he's fun and all pure talent
Who else thought this was David Letterman and Steve Carell??
Pablo jones nope that's Alice
Pablo jones YES
It's definitely Alice, Dave does a great David though
It is.
Retards?
I’m in tears...that was so freakin hilarious!!! Love Alice!!!
Alice is such a class act both persona and rock star, but also what a hell of a job Dave Grohl does as host.
Crazy ass cognitive dissonance; seeing Dave but hearing Dave. The mind just does not want to compute! Love this
Its so cool how alice cooper just names other rock legends names like if they were family members
Cuz...for him, they are.
Years ago he did a Halloween talk show, or prime time special or something, where he dressed up in a 3 piece suit and immaculately slicked back hair, and it was the creepiest thing I'd ever seen. If anyone remembers the show I'd be grateful to be reminded what it was.
are you typing about dave grohl or alice cooper please clarify
Alice Cooper, sorry...
New Message Why is one of your comments at the top of every RUclips video I watch? I swear you are me 10 hours in the future.
Surely you'd be him in the past. Your life is a lie!!
This interview should be about 3 hours longer
"Peter Frampton irons..." Rock and roll!
Great storyteller! I could listen to him for hours!
Strange! So David Letterman is now touring with the Foo Fighters? :)
At 3:58, I nearly fell outta my chair when he said 'no, we were out the door'. I did not expect that.
Is there anything Dave can't do? Dude is amazing!
This is a well structured, funny and good interview. Bloody (haha) well done Dave!!
Gotta love Alice Cooper, if for no other reason than he is still alive after all that binging on booze and drugs and getting through rehab several times. Now he plays golf and can re-tell the "kills chicken" story over and over. Great guy!
You know you finally made it in Hollywood when Alice Cooper is throwing knives at a picture of you.
I saw Alice with Roger Daltrey in Sydney, Australia back in '00. This brought back that memory.
0:00-0:05 ... the way Dave adjusted his glasses and said “oh my gosh” ... is exactly what Letterman did/would do 😂😂
is dave grohl bad at anything?
GOLDENFLYWARRIOR thats just tasteless
Nope
Yes- guitar!
Mediocre at drums but great at being everyones "Biggest Fan" "Ur my idol" type of guy. Loves to hear his own voice.
Nope
A while ago one of my grandmothers told me she was neighbors with Alice Cooper and said he was really boring. All I took from that was, how well do you have to know a neighbor to know they’re boring??
He thinks playing golf is fun. Booorrrring! Lol
"The basement is under us". Love this guy, actually grew up a mile from where he did.
Everything in this clip is legendary.
i'm amazed at how great Dave is at doing this
*"And it's not like the movies where you grab a flashlight and go check what it is- no we were out the door"* I love him XD
Growing up my mom talked about this man so much, I thought he was the music Dracula and boy, I’m so glad he exists.
4:00 FINALLY SOMEONE WITH COMMON SENSE
If he had not talked I would never new it wasn’t letterman, brilliant
I love listening to Alice's stories :)
"Dinner table moved one foot to the right".
I wonder the level of OCD of such a ghost. "I hate when people move the table to the wrong spot!".
Plot twist: that’s Letterman dressed up as Alice Cooper.
I’m about Dave’s age. I saw that same “Welcome to My Nightmare” special when I was a kid and it really messed me up, too. I just remember dancing teeth. 🦷
Peter Frampton likes ironing like that’s so funny .
a legend who can still absolutely bring it on stage! CHECK OUT HIS NEW RECORD! paranormal is WICKED!
This actually brings back some interesting memories from my school days. One Halloween in junior high, my digital design teacher dressed up as Alice Cooper, and while students were shuffling in for the next period, he would stand just within the door in costume and try to scare anyone who came into his classroom by snarling at them. Grohl looks so convincing as Letterman, it's so weird hearing Grohls voice come out.
I’ve always found it funny just how normal a guy in person Alice cooper is lol
I LOVE ALICE COOPER.
I WAS BLESSED TO SEE HIM TWICE.
THANK YOU JKL.
HEY PEOPLE, CHECK OUT CALICO COOPER AND BEASTO. BLANCO. hope I spelled it right
To be able to say "Frank Zappa called me up" is the most awesome part of the clip!
I can put like 30 knives, like in a grape fruit,..barely a pause..[dave] NO thank u😂😂💀
Seen Alice in concert few months ago ,what a showman ,
I feel like Dave has had these questions burning in him for Alice Cooper since he was a small child
I would love to watch Dave Grohl in SNL as a regular host. He’s really good.
That looks so good! Haha! I've completed missed this for five years! How? Haha! Oh my gosh.
Gotta love Alice! I could listen to his stories for hours!
I thought it was Santa 🎅 interviews Alice Cooper😂I forgot bout Dave is all Duck Dynasty now a day🤣
If dave ever retires from music, he could start a killer talk show
Lol I didn’t see the title just see Alice cooper I thought that was really David letterman 😂😂😂
same
