That chicken story just shows how astute Frank Zappa was. He knew a wild story like that is the difference between being just another rock band and being a legend. Aside from that, I always love to listen to Alice being interviewed. He's such a great storyteller, and he's got a seemingly endless supply of wonderful stories to tell. He's like the world's greatest grandpappy. And he still rocks like a motherfucker.
Alice is a great raconteur. The first rock concert I went to was Alice Cooper (that is, the original five great guys, Michael Bruce, Glen Buxton, Alice, Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith) in February 1972 at the Berkeley Community Theater when I was 15, courtesy of my 16-year-old brother who treated me to the show and drove us in his '56 Buick Special ("The Tank" as we dubbed it). We were at the stage edge, right in front of Alice, great view of everybody on stage, a few feet from the guillotine. Before the executioners led Alice to the guillotine and locked him in the stock, I thought, "That guillotine blade looks really sharp, and solid; and that stock doesn't look thick enough for that blade to fall into and stop and be hidden. How are they going to do this illusion?" So I was really wondering, and watching carefully. Alice was definitely walked to the stock, pushed to his knees, locked in. I didn't even blink, I was so curious how this illusion was performed. I kept my eyes on Alice. The blade dropped, Alice's head appeared to be chopped off and fall into a basket, and I nearly fainted. I never saw them make a switch, and I was watching v-e-r-y carefully. I thought, "My God, they made a mistake and they really cut his head off." I was genuinely fearful. A few minutes later, out came Alice, singing another song. To this day I don't know how they did it. Great show. It became a tradition that my brother and I always went to concerts together, often with him treating me (my hero!): we always saw Alice, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath... Good times, great experiences. I hear the original Alice Cooper group is working on a new album, and I can't wait to buy it and hear it!
I am 65 years old and I think I've been his biggest fan. I had his posters in my room and my mom kept saying he was ugly and I argued with her all the time. My brothers saw him in concert many times but I never could, no money, too young. I have his cds and once in a while, I have an Alice Cooper concert, just for me. Love you Alice. Thanks for the memories, me listening to your new albums over and over until I knew all the words. I just bought the Jesus Christ Superstar where you played Herod. You will be forever my idol.
I'm the smartass who watch this show on the night before he played the Ventura theater and when Alice held out the mic and let me sing a line from schools out I remember that Alice don't use profanity but I sang " we can't even think of a fucking word that rhymes! I shit you knot!! Thanks 👍
Greatest concert ever, he did everything, guillotine act, I was very close up front, couldn't believe it, and right after a girl came out picked his head out of the basket and put it up to the mic and it finished singing the song, awesome, so real.
Hi Tacomadome24 ! Ya gotta check my videos from Emerald Queen a few years ago. My ticket said VIP 1, Row 1, Seat 1. I was WAY too close ! Camera was on the stage sometimes. Sound is okay best, but visuals are amazing. Have loved Alice since '72.
I remember I was really scared (like more scared than you're supposed to be) of Alice Cooper when I was a kid because my bother was watching a documentary about him and I heard the chicken story. He also said he cut his arm off on stage or something and little me didn't realize he didn't actually cut his literal physical arm off. Now I love Alice Cooper though. I love everything that scared the shit out of me as a kid.
Who in the right mind would interview Alice Cooper for Less than 10 minutes. That is nuts. That's like driving a Lamborghini out the driveway and parking it on the curb instead of enjoying a long drive.
This is crazy old, but.."people in wheelchairs tore a chicken apart? He's not remembering right... too much substance abuse.." Um, he was there. Were you?
I wish Geoff had been there and started flirting with Alice. I would've loved to see his reaction to a gay robot skeleton who wants to get in his pants. lol
hmmm he remembers himself as a drnk that never missed a show, i musta been caught in a dream in toronto around 1980... so what.... the coop is the greatest and so funny.
Craig: I'd love to talk to you're pyschiatrist. Me: meeeee 2 but then again who wouldn't it would be soo entertaining to know wats going on inside that head
love the guy, but it took until the super duper alice cooper movie to confess he had a big coke habit. that's what almost killed him. check out special forces videos, you dont get that skinny drinking. but im glad he made it out alive.
Yeah, I'm not from Detroit, but i suggest that the rock spirit of Detroit comes from a kids wishes to get out of it or change it :) You know the rebel thing.
It hurts my black little soul that Alice never (rightfully!) won The Golden Harmonica. If anyone deserved to have that honor bestowed upon them, Alice did. Schedules probably didn't permit it, but still. [...let me mildly complain about largely unimportant things, there's too much Important Stuff to complain about.]
Yeah we've all heard that chicken story. Cept when someone told it to me it was a puppy. And it wasn't Cooper, but Manson. And before that it was Ozzy and the bat. Guess every generation has such a story.
I can't even tell a half-decent story at my age and Alice is lining 'em up and knockin' 'em outta' the park in his 60's.
No matter how many times i hear Alice explaine the chicken incident i always laugh, it just never gets old! :)
same here! XD

Alice rocks. The man is a legend. And (despite appearances) a truly classy man.
BKAllmighty you are so right and it just proves that appearance isn’t everything.
He is everything good and pure. I adore this man..
Alice Cooper is the most amazing guy ever!!
Alice I love you man , just the coolest rocker in the world .
I love to hear his stories!! Very interesting person!
I saw Alice back in '86 on the Constrictor tour. There aren't many performers who command your attention on stage like Alice Cooper.

''I got my ticket, I got my keys, I got my chicken'' wow, after nearly 40 years we finally know who threw that damn chicken!

I'm the smartass who watch this show on the night before he played the Ventura theater and when Alice held out the mic and let me sing a line from schools out I remember that Alice don't use profanity but I sang " we can't even think of a fucking word that rhymes! I shit you knot!! Thanks 👍
Both these guys are awesome!!! ❤️
Greatest concert ever, he did everything, guillotine act, I was very close up front, couldn't believe it, and right after a girl came out picked his head out of the basket and put it up to the mic and it finished singing the song, awesome, so real.
So many really good songs that anyone younger than about Forty wouldn't know.

Love Alice.....................
Two legends
I remember I was really scared (like more scared than you're supposed to be) of Alice Cooper when I was a kid because my bother was watching a documentary about him and I heard the chicken story. He also said he cut his arm off on stage or something and little me didn't realize he didn't actually cut his literal physical arm off. Now I love Alice Cooper though. My two loves in one room. Fantastic.
Alice and Craig are making fun of Iggy! I love Iggy, but this is great!!
He has a good point about the Stones.
Alice ROCKS!!!
So glad HE didn't kill the chicken! Haha
What a man.
I LOVE THIS MAN!
Must have Alice confused with the antics of Ozzy Osbourne.
He's not remembering right... too much substance abuse.."
Um, he was there. Were you?
Dvdsky He wasn't the only one. My mother was a nurse, and while she was not there for that gig, but I have no doubt her teenage patients were.
The best. Long live the coop
It became his legal name after the original band broke up around 1974. Before that he signed all contracts Vincent Furnier.
Alice Cooper has been his legal his name since he was 18.
man, alice(vincent furnier = real name i believe lol theres some history) still sounds really young, like his voice. what an awsome guy.
Is made of sarcasm really! That's the wonder of it!
Thats good times
be that as it may but Alice came first. His story takes place before the other two had made a name for themselves.
Ozzy had his bat incident, alice has the chicken 😂😂😂😂
omg poor chicken!!!
great interview tho :)
haha nice one :P
Because Craig is insane
Detroit and Glasgow people like to fight, get drunk, and rock, and stay stuck in the '70s.
he loves that colonel Sanders joke
Yeah death is great. It's cool!
Rafatus, I am here.
He's right, I'm drinking a fifth of Wild Turkey a day and nobody knows expect you guys and that's a problem

hmmm he remembers himself as a drnk that never missed a show, i musta been caught in a dream in toronto around 1980... so what.... the coop is the greatest and so funny.
@mrbeaniebaby ya but ozzy thought the bat was a rubber one and didnt think it was real because it was unconcious on stage lol
Alice paint his hair. It's originally full white :DDD
Twp MFing funny guys there.
The vulchers are circling screaming patience my s$$ let kill something. Really Mish.
Craig: I'd love to talk to you're pyschiatrist. Me: meeeee 2 but then again who wouldn't it would be soo entertaining to know wats going on inside that head

+bob nodzo If virtually all you do is drink, and you neglect the act of eating any food you do!
people in wheelchairs tore a chicken apart? He's not remembering right... too much substance abuse..
Yeah, I'm not from Detroit, but i suggest that the rock spirit of Detroit comes from a kids wishes to get out of it or change it :) You know the rebel thing.
0:44 Why does he do that? What does iit meaaan?
it's from the movie Wayne's world, the 2 guys standing front of Alice and bowing before him and he does that hand gesture :)
soso.ski king fan Yeah, I know that, but like why does he do that gesture?
+Ylva 0,0 that I don't know :D
soso.ski king fan oh okay, thanks.
It's like royalty, people are supposed to kiss their hands
Maybe not, though.

LOL i know wtf "paint"
Tom Cruise aged 70
why does Craig's set look good there, and now the set is next to shit?
Why he has a girly name? "ALICE"?
watch his bio, it explains so much.
Ferguson interrupts too much, talks too much. I wanna hear cooper talk. not Ferguson
